First, she said that I would not gain weight, which I did. That was not good but not as bad as the fact that my hair fell out. Like a lot of hair. Probably 40-50% of my hair fell out. I have long curly hair. Yea, it was traumatic. My hair is finally grown out after about 2 years. For the 2 weeks I was on that drug, the inflammation in my ankle (and the rest of my body) went down significantly... as in, I was out of pain. That was glorious. Until the pain started coming back. I was very, very discouraged. I even stopped exercising for a long time. The only good thing about this traumatic experience is figuring out that inflammation in the body is what is causing all the pain. I use the foot inserts she recommended, which has helped a lot. I'm back to exercising and making good progress to not be in pain. Moral of the story: most prescriptions are garbage. Side effects are no joke. More morals to the story: organic foods, getting inflammatory foods out of your diet, exercise and great supplements (with side benefits, not side effects) are the only way to get back on track. It takes longer but you don't have to deal with hair falling out, gaining weight or other nasty side effects.

Educating yourself is as important as advocating for yourself! The upper cervical manipulation may seem like it's not ideal for your injury or ailment, but remember everything is connected. I never would have expected that adjusting my Atlas bone would positively affect my lower back--and a few other issues! While the adjustments aren't a cure, and also not wholly effective, I do get relief from them regularly. Don't go into your appointment expecting a miracle. Set your expectations reasonably. I don't expect I will ever be 100% pain-free, so I hope for the best relief Dr. Quinn can provide me, and he hasn't failed me. I'm a nurse, and have had chronic migraines since I was 12 year old and occipital neuralgia for the…read morepast 4 years. My migraines would dictate my life and control what I could and could not do. Some days I would be running at 50% being able to go to work but not do my best. Others I was running on fumes and not able to do anything but stay in bed, in a dark room, with ice. When my occipital neuralgia was flared with a migraine, it felt like an icepick was being stabbed into the side of my head repeatedly. Graphic, I know, but it is the horrible truth. My migraines were affecting my job, my graduate school classes, and my social life. I had more bad days than good ones. I've exhausted all the different pharmacological (medication) treatments in treating and preventing migraines with little luck. I've tried a boat load of different devices, nerve stimulators, essential oils, different pillows, you name it, I tried it if it promised headache and migraine relief. I was referred by my Neurologist to see Dr Kleinfelter, who she had heard of through another patient, and she said to give it a shot. As a nurse I was VERY skeptical of NUCCA treatment. I had the attitude of, "How is making sure my spine is aligned going to cure something I've had for 19 years of my life?" I gave it a shot because nothing else seemed to work, worse case scenario, I could at least say I gave it a shot. My consultation showed that I was misaligned, the X-rays confirmed it. A week later I received my first alignment. After my alignment, I felt fine, didn't notice a difference. Left the office feeling like nothing changed and that I probably wasted money. That same night, I had the worst migraine I had in a LONG time (and that's saying something). Everything I did made my head feel like it was going to explode. After a few days of having a horrible migraine, I woke up and felt well rested, and energized. I have not woke up feeling well rested in years! I always felt tired no matter how much or how little I slept. Fast forward three months, and here we are. My migraines have dramatically decreased, my occipital neuralgia is almost nonexistent. NUCCA has changed my life. I know when I'm out of alignment now, things just feel off, and if I do not correct it, headaches start occurring more and my nerve pain ramps up. I have a quality of life back. I'm better rested, in less pain, and only using Botox and Ajovy to control my migraines. A big change considering I used to take up to 8 different medications a day to try and keep them under control, with little relief being provided. Back spasming so badly I couldn't raise my arms. Happened Thursday night. Had family coming in from out of town Sat for ballet performance. Went to Dr G. He had xrays taken to rule out fracture , applied STIN then adjusted my back the next day after xrays were read. Massage therapy so wonderful. Amazing spasm relief Friday. By Sunday I didn't feel like I injured my back at all. Had to return for back strengthening exercises to compensate for the vertebra that was strained. Similar experiences with a rotator cuff, wrist sprain, golfers elbow, lower back strain and a separate knee injury. Various therapies and no surgery. If you like a physician that can explain things he is the doctor for you. He has a wealth of information about current research. He is bright with an inquiring mind continually reading and learning about the latest information out there. Along with the adjustment I also had relief from third trimester level nausea from GERD that I struggled with for years - I was not pregnant. Many drugs for acid production relief but patchy relief and multiple tests from Gastroenterology that left me with an amorphous diagnosis. Now I get an adjustment about once a month with no nausea, fatigue, bad taste and no drugs! Ask about his monthly program. Costs less than the OTC meds I was taking every day with patchy relief. Even my internist condones chiropractic care for aches and pains. Dr G has a wholistic approach taking into consideration activity level, lifestyle, nutrition. He will look at the whole picture if you come in with a complaint of pain. Noticed that the sooner you go in with an injury the more effective the treatment is. Once the pain becomes chronic the effects of therapy aren't as dramatic. Highly recommend. I hope he never retires though he has a team of physicians and massage therapists that are great.
