On Thursday, December 12 we had the pleasure of being invited to see a special showing of The Christmas Show. From my understanding the theater was filled with special needs individuals and mentally challenged individuals as well as their caregivers. My mother and mother in law belong to a very special group called the ACT program, an adult day care center. My mother in law has dementia, it is a challenge. My mother is perfectly fine and hours loves to go to this program. As we entered the theater we were greeted by kind, loving people. Al Pica was one person who helped us in. As we entered where we were sitting we were approached by Ushers Jackson and Ricky. Two of the kindest young adults. There empathy towards my mother in law and her needs was so beautiful to see. They both went above and beyond with helping me out. Making sure the wheelchair was secured, helping me with sitting my mother in law in the very comfortable chair for the show. Taking the wheelchair to a different spot so I didn't have to leave her alone. Asking if we needed anything. As the show was coming to an end there they were again. By the way we weren't the only people in the theater that needed help. I watched them, their energy and politeness and pleasant attitudes were so refreshing. And the Christmas show was AMAZING. The props, backgrounds and sets were more beautiful than the next. The actors and dancers were exceptional. I highly recommend the show and venue. The venue is so clean and pretty. All of the staff there for every event I have ever been to have been polite and happy to help and serve. Five stars...

A melrose is just about the hall.

The balcony scenery demonstrates a pleasantness to the set of three seats. Moreover the theatre is a depiction of an older structure.

Although modest on the outside, this is a stunningly beautiful theater on the inside. Opened in 1929, The St George Theatre is a true movie palace. I was lucky enough to be able to take a day trip to NYC to see a showing of the movie Casablanca here. It was a rare treat to be able to sit up in the balcony of a movie palace to watch a classic old movie. The spacious interior is a variety of Spanish and Italian Baroque styles. The beautiful murals really set it apart from other movie palaces I've visited. Before the movie I took plenty of pictures, while listening to an organ concert. A movie palace with a working organ is even more rare! I'm glad this theater has managed to survive over the years.

This place is like you're stuck in the Staten Island version of "Midnight in Paris"! You know you are walking down an ordinary street and then BAM! Right in the middle of the 1920s! I'm an old soul so I love this stuff! I came here last Friday to see a live 1920s style Jazz band and company. The show was Broadway style (and I'd know i have more Broadway Play Bills than underwear) This is a GEM. I've been living in Staten Island for all these years and never even looked at this place! Plus all the renovations are done by a sister duo out of their own pockets and just for the love of the theater. It is lovely!!!

I love this theater. It doesn't hurt that it's a 5 min walk from my place but even if it wasn't it's an absolutely beautiful theater and there are no bad seats as far as I can tell. Even in the second mezzanine there's no problem seeing the show. Some of the negative reviews seem silly to me. It's a concert. Your gonna have some obnoxious people in the audience sometimes and parking is gonna be a pain in the rear end. That comes with the territory. To see a show in a venue as beautiful as this one is really a rare experience. It's absolutely my favorite place to see a concert.

I've seen a few shows here over the years and the architecture always impresses me. It's a very tall building, when you're at the top you feel quite far away from the stage, but the acoustics wouldn't have you believe that.

The restaurant was quiet when we arrived and we were seated at a wonderful table overlooking the lake. The setting felt relaxed and welcoming--perfect for both a special date night and family gathering. Service Our party included a 1-year-old, and the staff was incredibly accommodating. The servers were friendly, attentive, and helped make the experience easy and enjoyable. Food The food was solid across the board. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and flavorful. We ordered the calamari, vegetable pasta with added chicken, pork chop, steak, and spicy seafood. The standout dish was definitely the pork chop, but every dish was enjoyable. Overall This is a great spot for a special occasion or a family meal. Between the beautiful lake views, welcoming service, and good food, we had a very pleasant experience. I would recommend it and would happily return when I'm in the area again.

I really was so warmly welcomed here and they were eager to help answer any questions and just engage with some of the key points. So many charming things used to learn today. From mastodons of which you can enjoy seeing a 10-foot-tall mastodon sculpture : a woolly mammoth-looking creature which once roamed the hills of Staten Island in prehistoric days. Learn about the industries that thrived in this area for example, their chewing gum factory, the terra-cotta factory & ceramic factory. Such wonderful things created for people to enjoy, however, the Freshkills area and then to see all the years and years worth of efforts made to clean up the area and make it safe and beautiful and a wonderful habitat once again. It was nice to see that it's treated as a beautiful treasure. Grateful to the women who lead the groups that were very persistent in this endeavor. I loved seeing the erasure poetry activity.. where are we made poetry by blocking out the letters that were the writings of the museum's kind founder William T. Davis. Reconstructing his writing.. it's a wonderful little game that takes you slowly into his thoughts and his love and reflections of his town. I'm happy to learn about the founder of this museum and how he took care of all the sailors by constructing these buildings and giving them a home after a lifetime of working hard on the ships Very thankful for all the hard-working people that keep this wonderful story alive and in the minds of everyone lucky enough to venture this way.

The park was very quiet- not a whole lot of activity. It seemed at one point, it was a place bustling with energy. The Contemporary museum was closed and appeared empty inside. The Secret garden was non existent- the entrance was boarded up and the building stored chairs etc. When I think of a healing garden- what comes to mind are water features and rock gardens. This healing garden consisted of trails through large open green spaces. No water features. Throughout the park, most , not all, green areas were maintained. Things could be cleaned up among some of the gardens and weeded. Kinda sad.. The info booth and restaurant was open. Don't think we'll return...
