(From June) The restaurant feels like family-style. The service was good and we got a good seat at the back where the ceiling-to-floor windows are so it was nice to look onto the water. The oysters were super good and fresh (obviously) and I liked the pickled onion they gave as well. The crab was alright. It was baked so it's harder to get the meat clean off and it was quite dry. I prefer it being boiled as you also get the juice from the meat. It was heavily seasoned (personally just like my crab plain). It was well worth it though with the side dish and the amount of crab you get. The chowder was good. I really liked it but it was quite small, even as a main course meal. The downside, I got an upset stomach and threw up later that night. (thankfully not food poisoning but still a bit turned off) I'm not sure if it was a bad oyster or the chowder but I shared the crab with my mom and no one had my chowder.

I stopped here based on a local 's recommendation. I am So glad I listened. The Fish Exchange is the real deal! Great food, wonderful service and a great place to eat with great views. My waitress was friendly, knowledgeable of the menu, and always around when needed but not too much to be annoying "Perfect"!!!! The food is excellent. Prepared just right, presented with class, And seasoned to perfection. If you want GOOD seafood this is the place. It's on the pricey side but good seafood should be. I have ZERO complaints. Nothing but good things to say about this place!!! I'm so happy I stopped. Going back again tomorrow before I go back home!!

So this is our second time to the SJFX . This time was better than the last time. We were here this time in our last night of our trip and the restaurant did not disappoint. We were there on Saturday night and reservation is highly recommended. The wait for a table was about 45 min if you, were walking in that night. We were seated in the area that had a great view of the harbour our severe that night was Nick. He was amazing ( especially being a transplant from the west coast ). He was attentive had great suggestions. The food was great the oysters were delicious and the fish was fresh and very delicious. One of had the grilled Halibut, one had the Fishing Admirals feast ( which included Salmon, halibut, Cod shrimp and scallops), I had the NL Seafood Cioppino which was fantastic. Thank you to the staff for making this night best way to end out trip

This is a delayed review for my trip back in July. I had an amazing meal at St. John's Fish Exchange. When I was there it was busy and we had to add our names to the waitlist to be called back later but it was well worth the wait. From start to finish, all the dishes we had were great. The fish and chips are perfectly made and the lobster and shrimp pappardelle is absolutely yum. The cheesecake dessert we had was also a great way to finish our meal. Our server was also very personable and made sure we had a good time. Highly recommend for a seafood dinner at St John's.

The establishment is nice and clean, however, it is very busy. We ordered the Seafood duo and Tuna steak. The food was good, but the price tag heavy for what it was. Please note that the portion sizes were severely lacking. An issue we did have was the service. As the place was very busy, our server was not able to attend our table that often. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place to my friends from my personal experience.

The food was amazing. The service was just as good. Great location and definitely will eat here again next time I visit.

Wonderfully friendly bar service gets 4 Stars!!! Allison is the best! Highly recommend the SJFE spin on an Old Fashioned and their wine list is excellent. Cod Cheek app hit the spot: perfectly battered and fried fish. The main, lobster Mac-n-cheese was a huge disappointment. Ordered because it looked great in front of another bar patron, mine looked like it was made in another restaurant?!? My dish took a LONG time to arrive. I suspect it sat under the heat lamp as the cheese dried up and pasta hardened well beyond the creamy, delectable dish I'd ordered

Gets booked early on and bar service is a bit hit or miss. Food however is great and worth waiting for.

The food was really good, but expensive. The servers were all very friendly, but service was a bit slow at times.

Top notch service here!…read more Charissa made me feel at home at the bar. I got fresh tasty oysters, the code tongues, and fries. The oysters were small but so refreshing. The cod tongues are a unique item in just had to try and they tasted really good. The fries came out hot but I would say they lacked the crunch I really enjoy.. I still found myself eating them all though. The fry sauces were great, I think all made in house. What I really loved was the homemade peri peri sauce with the oysters... I put it on my cod and fries.. game changer!!! The place is beautifully designed, small and quant, and a good place to hang out. The rotating drink special was a frozen Paloma which was nicely garnished and had a natural wheat straw. The chef gave me a nice little gift at the end of my meal which I appreciated greatly.

There weren't many places open late downtown for dinner, we went to two places prior to get food…read morebut the kitchen was pretty much closed. Luckily we made our way to Rabble, and they seated us at the bar immediately upon arrival. We were very happy to find that they were open late. I thought the decor and aesthetic was nice, cozy, and clean. I loved the dishware and houndstooth napkins. First, I got their blended Passionfruit Guava (?) mocktail. I'm pretty sure those were the flavors. It was citrus-y, sweet, and refreshing. We ended up ordering the Half Chicken, Brown Butter Turnip Papperdelle, and the Seasonal Parisian Gnocchi for 2. Everything was absolutely wonderful. The Half Chicken was flavorful and the juicy. And the skin was the best part! It had a beautiful crisp. The Brown Butter Turnip Papperdelle was nice, I was very impressed with how they made it "noodle" like. The texture was good, and I loved how it was under a mountain of parmigiano hehe. Lastly, the Seasonal Parisian Gnocchi was a hit. The gnocchi had the perfect texture, it was chewy and soaked up the sauce very well. And the sauce! It was creamy, savory, and just fantastic. I've actually been raving about this gnocchi to everyone, and it has stayed on my mind ever since we ate it. I think that was the best gnocchi I've ever tasted. The only reason why I gave it four stars was the wait time. We came a good 30ish minutes before the kitchen closed and I'm pretty sure we put in our orders with enough time. However we waited a lot longer than we anticipated. Nevertheless, we had a wonderful time. We actually visited St John's for our anniversary and celebrated it here for dinner, and this was a dinner and day we'll never forget. We'd love to come back for another anniversary, and I hope that the gnocchi will still be there haha. Thank you!
