Interesting hospital. I was there in August and again in November for surgeries. In August I had a very early arrival time and overall a very pleasant experience. Everything went smoothly from check in, pre op, surgery and post op. I spent the night and received excellent care from a very well staffed and professional nursing team. I provided a very positive review on their web site. My second visit was scheduled late morning at 10:30 arrival. I will never accept a late morning surgery appointment again. First every parking spot was full. A five level garage provided not one open space. Eventually I found a car leaving in front of the women's care entrance. This was at the other end of the hospital from where I was told to enter near the south garage. I had no idea how to get back to the surgery check in. I entered the women's entrance and told the security guard I needed to get back to the south garage entrance. He radioed a man in a golf cart to meet me at the entrance and take me back to the surgery area. I told him the hospital website said there was valet parking near the children's emergency area. He said that was no longer being offered. My surgery lasted longer than the doctor told us and by the time I arrived in recovery and then post op I was the only patient in post op area. The nurses were all leaving and saying good night to other nurses. My nurse was the only one there. The motion lighting in the other tented rooms were turning off. As I was getting dressed to leave the nurse told my wife to bring the car to a different door to pick me up for the drive home. As I had dropped her off at the surgery entrance at 10:30, seven and a half hours earlier, she had no idea where our car was except my description of it parked across from the women's entrance. The nurse was so pleasant and helpful she offered my wife a wheelchair and took her to the security desk to call for the golf cart courtesy driver. Unfortunately, both the nurse and my wife learned that service goes home at 4:00. It's now 6:30. So now the only nurse in post op pushed my wife in a wheelchair the entire length of the hospital to the women's section to get our car. I sat by myself in a chair with now one light on waiting for the nurse to return. There are 6 handicapped parking spaces outside the surgery entrance. And perhaps 10 non handicapped spaces. Arriving late morning you will not find a parking spot. There are no reserved for surgery parking spots. As patients are released the assigned nurses go home and the area pretty much shuts down for the night. Very poor arrangement. The staff readily acknowledges that parking is horrible but apparently that's where it ends. The Doctors have a reserved parking area. The patients including surgeries are left to fend for yourself self. My future hospital needs will be at Tampa General or St Joe South. read more

Not only did the PA Nguyen, Vu diagnose me in 10 seconds of being in the room and not even touch me but the nurse Gail wanted to get me out so fast that she discharged me with an IV still in my arm. I have been treated at this hospital twice, and both experiences were excellent. Each time, I received outstanding care and service. Dr. Feghhi is exactly the kind of doctor every patient hopes for--thorough, attentive, and committed to finding the root cause before sending you home. He takes the time to rule out any concerns rather than simply prescribing medication and rushing the process, which truly sets him apart. Dr. Dedania has also been an exceptional GI doctor. His depth of knowledge, professionalism, and ability to explain things clearly made me feel confident and well cared for throughout my treatment. The nursing staff deserves special recognition. Madelin is an amazing nurse--caring, attentive, and highly knowledgeable. Even while training new nurses, she never missed a detail and consistently made sure I was comfortable and informed. I would also like to acknowledge Stacy, a wonderful tech who was very supportive, attentive, and kind while taking my vitals and assisting with anything I needed. Overall, this hospital has an incredible team of doctors and staff who truly care about their patients. Patient fell when entering and the nurse told him to get up without help at all. Should of left then but instead went through 6 iv sticks,swollen arm, and blew another on the other arm. When confronted the nurse on how we normally have to get an ultrasound machine was ignored and when told the nurse to get out she stated" I didn't bruise and miss all them" Funny we watched you do it! Then to place the patient in a room with another patient refuse to allow them visitors, TV access and honesty never come up with a diagnosis for the 3rd time there. Told he had an infection for sure and possibly heart attack and you did NOTHING. Besides Tasha the nurses have no compassion, no responsibility and no love for their job anymore. I can guarantee their death to healthy ratios are more deaths then leaving there with a proper diagnosis. We will stick to st Joseph further away but know they care. This hospitals ER should be audited, verified by the medical board and reviewed monthly. Funding needs cut and given to others and nurses need more con ed ​ read more

My experience at Brandon Hospital was very unpleasant, to say the least. I was scheduled to have foot surgery on February 14th at 1 pm. I was told to arrive at 11 am, the day before, however, I was called the morning of around 9 am and asked if I wanted to come in sooner. They said the doctor was running ahead of schedule so I agreed and headed out the door and when I got there it was close to 10. I told my husband to leave me there since they were going to be taking me in early. Well, they held me in the room for 3 hours before the anesthesiologist came to get me, 1 hour longer than what I was supposed to have waited originally. The doctor had even come in at the 2-hour mark and had said I would be going back very soon but another hour went by. When I first arrived, a woman came into my room and asked if I wanted to participate in a Phase 3 clinical trial study called LANTERN, a Light-Activated Antimicrobial Therapy to Prevent Surgical Site Infections. In the US, the trial was still undergoing FDA approval and Brandon Hospital was part of that trial. It's already been approved for surgeries in places like Canada, Australia, the UK, and the United Arab Emirates. From what I was told, I would be paid for my participation. It was fairly easy to do and I figured since it would prevent an infection, why not? Well guess what? I got a nasty infection at the surgical site. I was told after my surgery the surgery was supposed to have taken place within 2 hours of doing the study and they made me wait for 3. The infection set my healing back for months and I have still yet to be paid. When I called the hospital about it to find out what I should do, nobody knew anything about it. When I called the number the woman gave me paperwork on, they could not locate the doctor who was part of the research team from the hospital. The woman who came in to do the study stopped answering my phone calls and completely ignored my messages. The hospital is probably one of the worst hospitals I've ever been in. Nobody there was pleasant. Nobody there made me feel welcome. Nobody came into the room to see me. They just put me in a room and made me wait for 3 hours for my surgery. Since then I've had to see another doctor about my foot because I've still been in pain. I just had to have another surgery on it and will have to have a third. I refuse to go to the same doctor for various reasons, one of them being she only uses Brandon Hospital and I refuse to go there ever again. I will never recommend them and I will continue to tell everybody about my experience there. Beware if you're having surgery at Brandon Hospital. I'm not sure who gave the order for me to come in early. I don't know if it was the doctor or the staff but somebody screwed up and made me suffer. read more

I recently had my appendix rupture. I came in at 3:30am in the ambulance. Due to the rupture my stay has been almost 5 days due to complications... The level of personal care and attention was unbelievable. Everyone was amazing. They were very attentive and made the best efforts to help me while I was in pain post opp for several days. The rupture came because I ignored pain for two days thinking it was muscular issue... they did not even make me feel bad for waiting. Very empathetic and sympathetic. Most of my caregivers actually had gone through my situation without the extra complications and just me me feel the best I could given the situation. The food was pretty good as well! 5-star! Glad this is the closest hospital. I would definitely recommend! read more

This is the worst hospital I've ever seen. My 91 yr old mother went in with a low heart rate and high blood pressure. Now here we are a day and a half later and she hasn't even seen a cardiologist yet. She's just laying in a bed getting fed. She laying there with sore legs and they won't give her anything. I guess doctor has to place an order? But there are no doctors there! They ordered Tylenol YESTERDAY but haven't given it to her yet! The nurses are useless because all they say is "I don't know" they can't do anything give her anything, get testing done, give her blood pressure meds... NOTHING without a cardiologist order. And one never showed up! PLEASE PLEASE do not let a loved one..or ANYONE go to this joke of a hospital! read more

Awful and disgraceful. The room didn't have hot water. Very poorly written discharge summary. Physician talks with patients who are confused and don't call family even though contact info was given. No communication from physicians to nurses. No hygienic supplies in rooms. No adult diapers or wipes when asked told they have none in the whole hospital. No chucks, shampoo, or towels. Seriously lacking in basic necessities once admitted to your room. Dirty rooms. Would never return. Better go elsewhere. read more

My wife went in on a Thursday afternoon. They gave her a CAT scan and a room in a decent amount of time. By the time I got there a couple hours later, she said the dr had ordered a MRI. Friday morning comes and no MRI. The dr comes and we have a full on conversation about possibilities of what's wrong and a MRI with dye being injected would tell us something. Which makes sense, only when the technician did the MRI, on late Friday night, he told her the opposite. She spoke up and said thats wrong. They said these are my orders right here, no dye. The MRI gets done without the dye, and the dr comes in and says good news/bad news. You don't have this condition, but the MRI wasn't done right. The lack of communication throughout the whole process is concerning. She wasn't able to leave until Saturday night. The nurse came in the room and said you're good to go. Uh, what about the catheter in the arm, pads on the chest. I've heard how bad it is here, but never experienced it before. Now it's a lesson learned. I feel like they just keep the patients longer than what's really needed to charge the insurance company. I bet they will still charger for the MRI. It should be fraud. Imagine going to a restaurant, ordering a meal, and the wrong meal comes. They say sorry and bring out the right meal, only to charge you for both. Immediately, he was attended, given antibiotics and has been here for a week with exemplary attention. I want to call out Emily his nurse - what great, compassionate care she provides. I recently had surgery at HCA Brandon Hospital, and my experience was outstanding from start to finish. From my arrival at 5:30 am until my release around 4:30-5:00 pm, the care I received was exemplary. The staff made me feel truly cared for and important, constantly checking on me and ensuring my comfort. The atmosphere was positive and cheerful, with the staff displaying a strong sense of camaraderie. The hospital was impeccably clean, and even minor issues were promptly addressed. For instance, I noticed a paper towel on the restroom floor during one visit, but it was gone the next time, with the restroom returned to its pristine condition. While I hope you never need surgery, if you do and find yourself at this hospital, you can expect excellent care. My surgeon, Dr. Champion, provided exceptional service, and I believe any other surgeon possibly would uphold the same high standards. There is always room for improvement, and I did encounter one issue with the follow-up process. My surgery was on a Friday, and I missed the follow-up call on Monday. Despite returning the call immediately, I was unable to reach a live person, and the numbers provided at discharge in the release packet yielded no responses. As a result, I had to rely on online research to address any concerns about my symptoms. I believe the hospital should ensure follow-up calls are successfully completed, with staff making multiple attempts if necessary until they reach the patient. I will try n write this with one hand. Apologies for tge typos; I ended ip coming here sense my arm got worst. Got all blue n bloated from the whole broken parts. I think advent over tightened my splint or i am having a reaction to Sugar tung method. I wish i could buy tgat stuff. Would be amazing to make cosplay stuff with it. It's like cloth n clay n when the wet chemicals dry? It solidifies like bone. Me n mom walked in through emergency. Sign up n in less than a minute we were walked into the checku area. Long hall full of mini rooms separated by curtains. Nice looking chair in the middle surrounded by equipment. First madam came n ask the usual questions, why im there etc. she took my vitals in away she went. Another person came I believe it was one of the gentlemens. I showed him my blue finger n the other stuff. He vanished. Xrays cane in. Gorgeous young lady with a cool looking portable xray machine. Took my scans n a while later we were escorted to a room with many beds n also separated by curtains. A couple different people n families. Kids in the bed with their mothers. Gentlemen having the best sleep if their lived n me trying to not hurt myself while failing to get on the bed lol ot is freaking hard to do when my butt hurt as bad as my arm. After a while i got my cast cut open to be inspected by the head honcho Dr kirk. O_o i dunno whats up with this hospital but why is everybody so good looking!? Lol them meds i was in were good though. I didn't feel my arm until they removed the shell. That thing look so baaad!! My arm had a reaction to tge texture or the temp. Git some nasty looking crap on it. But after xrays they said the same as advent. I need a surgeon. N i got them to scan my butt to. I was ti Right! My coxy is freaking broken. P_P holy fu! It hurts as bad as the arm. Sitting makes me cry so i gotta go for the fettal position to feel ok when i sleep. Driving us a no for me to. They place my arm back into the sugar tung thing but this time? The DR K n the male nurse tCkle my arm n gently made sure my cast took tge shape of my arm. It dried perfectly n shaped like my arm. But still sucks when i go to bed. Dr K got a hold of Dr Shah from orthopedic institute. I chatted him up n he promised me i would be getting surgery the next day. The problem is that I didn't get it even though they promised i would get in if i get my referral n permission from my insurance. I had to be on their asses to get it on time. Then the staff went from "we got you" to "we wil call u" n we all know what that means. I gotta get their asses tomorrow, not a fan of being lied to. Shity ending doesn't have anything to do with brandon hospital. I think they behave professionally n were on task. They took care of me n made sure i was comfortable. Went in n came out better. Just wished surgery's were still done at hospitals like the good ild days. This having to depend on outside specialists is sketchy. Never easy. Don't even read the review of the place i was sent to. It's shy away of -1 lol i got hope n not to many options available to fix my arm. I can recommend this hospital if u got an emergency. I do agree its freaking confusing from the outside. This freestanding ER is an absolute joke. We went here after I was untangling my dog's leash, and before I was done, he took OFF with my foot tangled in it. I have had a broken toe before (three times) and this felt much worse. After 2 hours with ice I could hear no weight, even on the heel, so we went here. I had a boot from a prior stress fracture and wore that to ensure it wasn't jostled. Well, apparently that was a bad move. Pretty sure that Dr. Moursi instantly took me for a drug seeker because he said first "why do you have a boot? Where did you get that?" And I explained. He chuckled. I told him what happened and got a funny look and he asked me to repeat it. So I did. He took the boot off and my foot was bruising badly already. He didn't touch or examine me in any way, just ordered an X-ray. The male nurse that took my vitals was dressed sloppily and I absolutely would not have trusted him to perform any procedure on me or removed my clothing. He barely spoke, showed no empathy, and never once looked at me or my foot. Then he told me to register online with the registrar. It was virtual and she was nice however told me I owed $400 upfront. I can't wait to see what the rest will be. And we do have accepted insurance. I did wonder to myself - what if someone was truly in a dire or acute situation- would they be asked to do this?? (You had to type and sit up) apparently yes from other reviews. X-ray tech was the only kind medical professional. He was gentle and explained what he was doing. The one star is for him. Dr. Housam came back in then and shrugged and said yeah, your second toe is broken. And I said again really? That's all? It just hurts so much more. (By this time, with moving for X-rays, swelling had started and it was throbbing) I was never asked if I needed pain relief. He just said yep, second toe, as if I were an idiot. Then the nurse came in and.... Taped it to my big toe. I said sir I'm not exaggerating, there is no way I can walk out of here. I cannot bear weight in any way. He told me he'd get me crutches and did, then handed me my papers and left. My husband went out to ask for a wheelchair. They also called me in 800 mg Ibuprofen. There had been no discussion of this. I'm a tested rapid metabolizer and I also can't take NSAIDS bc I have Fibromyalgia, I told the nurse this when I first arrived. I didn't bother to ask for anything else because it was apparent to me that the doctor must either think I was drug seeking (my husband thought this) or that I am a wimpy woman complaining of pain. The following day it was terrible. Today is two days later. I went to my general practitioner. I have two broken toes, one very near the joint, and a broken long bone of the foot, and will be referred to an orthopedist. So - I was absolutely dismissed and disregarded, and they either didn't read my X-ray or don't know how to read one. I'm so angry that I suffered because of an assumption. Keep driving about 30 more seconds and just go to St. Joes ER. You'll get much better care. read more

Came into the ER at 12:45am at 14 weeks pregnant with a kidney stone and other associated symptoms. 2 hours and a half later and still haven't been seen. Will update after but so far the experience has been terrible. The IV was botched on my pregnant wife, the nurse was dropping the vials of blood on the floor. Everything was done so unprofessionally. Took daughter to Pediatric ER with debilitating Abdominal pain. The 'doctor' asked if she had eaten anything, she only had her morning vitamins (which she has every morning and doesn't eat with them) The doctor didn't look any further and said, oh, that's it, we will run a urine on her and get her out of here, if she gets worse just bring her back. I asked if they were going to give her anything for dehydration (102 fever for 3 days, vomiting) they said she looked ok, I asked about something for her nausea, said that they could, but they didn't want to because it could mask a problem, and I asked about something for pain, and was told that would mask an issue too. So why not look for the issue and do your job? read more

I normally would NOT recommend this hospital we have had a few bad experiences however tonight the ER staff was amazing! My husband has been pretty sick for 3 days not getting better and we didn't know what was wrong but he has asthma and it got bad. He was seen by the Resident ER Doc then by the Main ER Doc and even though they were completely full they made room for my husband because of how sick he was, they immediately got all kinds of tests and bloodwork done. ER nurses Carla and Alishia were the best and worked quickly. Just want to thank them & the Doctors for helping my husband! He ended up being diagnosed with the Flu. Thank God hes ok! read more

Rather than giving my dad an anabiotic injection the route taken here was to use over-the-counter anabiotic's to allow his infection to continue and faster blaming it as a urinary track infection when in fact his PSA numbers a simple blood test would've shown that his prostate was enlarged and that was part of the problem. I have a broken ankle. I was given enough pain killers to last till what you would think I could get into my doctor for a refill. I couldn't get an appointment until January 8th. That alone was annoying. I cannot drive with a boot on my leg so I took Uber to the ER for a refill. The doctor gave me the lowest dose possible. It lasts 5 minutes. I would like for Dr. Shane Leighton to break his ankle and is given 5mg of oxycodone to be taken once every six hours. For this reason I am giving the ER department a 1 star read more

Initially I was giving them the benefit of the doubt at this hospital because I've never really heard anyone say a good word about it. I thought they were taking care of my son who is now 18yrs old so even though he has a developmental to disability... he still considered an adult. Upon entering this facility with the issue of significant pain...the entire time we were there was never given anything for treatment of the pain. He was told test results for which he did not truly understand I was rather appalled by the fact that when we went to that front desk, that we were called to ...my son was called some guy named "Travis" and He told this guy that it was OK for me to be there to listen ....This guy proceeded to tell us that someone will come and talk to us about his discharge instructions yet we stood there for an extended period while he checked in people that came up to the counter after us and until I finally got tired of standing there and asked him if someone would be coming to talk to us like he said they would? He proceeded to very rudely say "After I finish checking these people in he would go get whomever yet no one ever showed. Finally finally we get called in the back by some nurse who still did not explain his discharge instructions nor offer any form of pain medication so I'll ask the nurse if someone was going to come and talk about it everybody that walks to the door is not a layman or unknowing of how hospital policy works and this was not appropriate at all! So then some female MD came in she didn't introduce herself...she just asked if we had a question about our discharge paperwork? I told her about the rude guy in the front and how no one is explaining anything appropriately and inquired why he hadn't gotten anything for pain and she gave some subpar answer and we were just ready to go.... But but as of yet no one offered to even remove my sons IV until I asked, "Could someone remove this out of his arm so we can go? And....after over 6 hours of him being there we finally left (He was STILL in pain) mind you..,and I made a mental note that I would definitely review this place I've never heard anyone speak highly of this facility and the only reason my husband took him there was because it was the closest to the urgent care that they went to initially whom couldn't treat my son for this issue. Man... I wish this world had people that would understand that "You should do onto others" because you never know when the tide is going to turn or that full circle is going to bite you in the butt... in the exact same way you have treated other people(i.e. patients)might come back to you when you "BECOME" the patient! What is wrong with people???????? They steal your jewelry and dodge your calls, don't wear gloves when sticking in the IV. When giving epidural to have a baby they numb too high and paralyze your top half instead of bottom half. I went in for a fall and they wanted to find out if I had and head fractures or slow bleed. From the security personnel to the staff at front desk, nurse taking vitals, Dr. Ortiz, Becky doing CT scans and x-ray and my main nurse they treated me with so much care/dignity/patience and detail, I actually forgot I was in a hospital in emergency. The best treatment I have ever had in my life in any and all hospitals including Cleveland Clinic. Kudos to you all, if I could give you 20 stars I would. Thank you, I appreciate you. read more

Brandon Regional Hospital I have never had a positive experience at this horrible hospital. I had shoulder surgery in January and brought home covid. I wasn't around anyone else at that time except my husband, so it had to come from there. They even had you come in a special door so you were never around any other patients. I was in bed for 2-1/2 months from covid. That wasn't the worst of it. The anesthesiologist who did a nerve block on my arm.... well...I have a pretty good suspicion he is a sadist. Dr Hussein had a look in his eyes like he hated me. I have had two other blocks on my arms and they were no big deal. This one had me screaming from the bottom of my soul. From the look in his eyes I would guess he enjoyed it. I will never allow a surgeon to do surgery at Brandon Regional Hospital again. read more

My husband was having stomach issues! We were admitted right away!! We were there for about a week! They took great care of my husband. The nurses, Monica, Belinda, Shiny, and I can't remember the other names of the other ladies! I'm so sorry! They were all awesome! . I had shoulder surgery in January 2023 and there is more pain now than before the surgery, even after 12 months of PT and going to the gym 3 times a week. I already wrote a review regarding the sadistic anesthesiologist Dr. Hussain​. I brought home COVID or something worse from Brandon Regional and was in bed for 2 1/2 months. Ever since COVID I've had high blood pressure over 180 and have been hospitalized 3 times. I also have tinnitus after COVID. When at Advent Hospital for high BP the nurse said she used to work at Brandon Hospital and many of the staff there are from Brandon Hosp She said I should file a complaint because the hospital is filthy and has incredibly bad management. read more

This place is an absolute joke! My mother lives in assisted living close by, so unfortunately this is the hospital they use. She has been admitted numerous times and each time is the same awful experience. Staff who don't care and can't be bothered. My elderly sick mother sitting in urine and feces soaked bed for HOURS on more than one occasion, crying, pressing the call button with no response. Everyone who works there must hate their job. From sighs and attitude on the phone, etc. There is no reason for this when I politely call and ask for an update on her because I live out of state. When I flew down to visit her during a more lengthy stay the nurses were all super rude and kept rolling their eyes when asked a simple question. Also, it is extremely difficult to get anyone on the phone and my calls are NEVER returned. This happens everytime on every unit from ER to the floors. Today I have been calling for over 8 hours and have yet to get in touch with anyone or get an update on her condition. This is completely unacceptable. I've made friend with the daytime operator. I think the evening operator quit their job because I have made 20 plus calls to operator this evening and nobody has picked up. How can you run a hospital like this?!?! Make it make sense!! I was actually going to ask if they had any sort of volunteer program here but after seeing the ratings and scanning through some of the reviews it was apparent this place has some major issues with the care. I've been there twice in the past for injuries and the care was okay although one PA prescribed me meds which were contraindicated given my current meds. I think I will volunteer somewhere else. read more

The nurses are a hit or miss but they have a lot more of good nurses, but what's the bad side is their doctors the people that have the control over everything if you have sickle cell do not come here they do not care about your pain level. They do not care if you're itchy. I am currently right now as I'm writing this and a sickle cell crisis, and they refused to give me medication that will help me stop itching. I have gone almost 24 hours without some thing, and I have hives starting to form on my face they wanted me to prove that the pills don't help. I have taken it twice if they helped I would have never broken out. I don't understand why I get treated like I am a 10-year-old I am 22 years old and have been educated very properly on how to take care of myself in advocate for myself but these doctors do not care. It's their way or the highway suffering from sickle cell crisis and itchiness due to medication and they let me sit here 24 hours crying, begging itching. I have an open womb on my behind and they do not care about that, they do not care that I have continued and have it all over me my nurse texted her that my heart rate keeps going up because I'm not whatsoever, this is patient neglect. I hope I do not pass. The doctor I had was Nadia Eid she does not care about her patients, my face and body have hives all over because she did want to believe that Benadryl pill did not work on me that great, even though my body is showing all the symptoms of it not working my body was fine before she got my case , and I did take the pill to show her the medication didn't work , she came in the next morning and turned my pains off that was it's and I left, THIS WAS PATIENT NEGLECT read more

My Dad's girlfriend called me on October 13, 2021 saying my Dad was throwing up and having chest pains. She said he needed to go to the hospital. My Dad was scheduled for stent surgery the following week at Brandon Regional Hospital so we took him to the ER there. They immediately took my Dad into triage. Everyone was fantastic. I learned the ER has 70 beds. All 70 rooms were occupied when we were there and it didn't show. My Dad was admitted to Tower B. Rochelle and Nina were his nurses and they were fantastic. We got really lucky with Dr Amir Feghhi as our hospitalist. Dr Feghhi is on top of his game. The man was amazing. This hospital truly works as a team of professionals. Thank you Brandon Regional Hospital. I won't hesitate to go back there. read more
