One of the best! This county library is really the best for babies to kids. The entire lower level is kid heaven! There are computers, magnets, slides, imaging toys, and so many books! You can spend the whole morning here with the little kids if you need to. They even offer baby play time for newborns up to 2 years old every First Thursday of the month at 10 am. This place is also 100% accessibility friendly and the librarians can help if needed. read more

Stunning library! The children's floor in particular is awesome -- the playroom for kids has a giant Rube Goldberg contraption, a giant toy house (with toy kitchen inside!), and magnetic boards for kids to practice their letters! They also have "themed" book grab bags families can borrow (for example--"going to a hospital", "having a baby brother" etc. with a collection of kids books librarians have helped picked out that will all be related to that theme.) read more

Awesome for little tots and adults. Plenty of free activities and spacious room are offered for everyone, it's awesome. I had all the privacy I needed, bonus point that this branch is also pretty clean. Outerior is awesome too. Polite and quiet librarians, super cool. It's a library, so it is going to be quiet-the best part. It was dead silent which was awesome. Huge children's area with lots of trinkets and toys, lots of desks and chairs for studying and of course: lots and lots of books. What an awesome place, I think it definitely deserves five stars. read more

I am SO glad to have this library nearby. I've always been a fan of the St. Louis County Library system and this is absolutely my favorite branch. My daughter is almost two, and this has been such a fun activity for us to enjoy together. The staff here is WONDERFUL, and never bats an eye at... let's just say... my daughter's non-library voice. There are so friendly and so happy to be there, and they're always willing to help. They got a huge kick out of helping my daughter get her first library card, too, and even gave her a sticker to celebrate the occasion. I was not expecting to see a huge toddler play area the first time we visited, but it was such a fun surprise. There are a ton of areas that focus on sensory play, and there's even a big slide. I can see us using this area a lot during the winter months. It's never too crowded, either. We always get five books at a time, and someday my daughter will be more excited about the books than the slide, ha. Until then, I'm happy to pick out things that I think she'll enjoy. They have a great selection. We're so grateful to be able to spend time here! read more

We only visited the children's area and it honestly was so cool! It's such a large space with several things to do for kids of all ages. My toddlers loved playing on the slide and in the little house but there was a whole other section we didn't have time to explore. The bathroom in the area was clean, but the two staff members we interacted with seemed less than thrilled that children were in the children's area. read more

Someone was using my library card on their app. They all seem to have "what's mine is yours " attitude . I went there three times to help me get this person to stop, was transferred or promised to call me back with answers but no one took the time to call or help me. This library underwent a major renovation last year and now it's a great place to read and relax. I know that with the popularization of cell phones many many people never use the library or the services they offer, which is such a shame because there are so many classes and interesting things to do there. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and eager to see you.The lower level is dedicated to chIldren and based on how many were there it's a popular choice.They have a play area, craft table, computer station, interactive displays and games and so many wonderful books an video's waiting for your child read more

I spent some time at the Daniel Boone Library on Saturday 11/17. I needed to do some work for my online course and I work better away from home. I chose a seat in the middle of the library. I spent about 2.5 hours there. I have never heard more talking in a library before in my life! The employees are chatty with each other. Also a woman one table away from took at least 3 calls on her cell phone in the course of an hour and just sat there talking. I glared at her along with another man nearby and she didn't even notice. The employees were all within a few feet and no one ever told her to go outside. So rude! Next issue is...did you know these satellite libraries no longer have a reference section? You have to go to the main branch on Lindbergh for that. Ugh. read more

I went yesterday for the book sale, thanks to a tip from Cherie O. When I walked in the main door, there was a sign that said "Book Fair" with a big arrow pointing down. I looked down. And saw the floor. Sometimes I'm just too literal for my own good. So, I went back out to the alcove, but there are just restrooms and a drinking fountain there . . . no steps, no elevator. Back in to the main library, where there was much hustle and bustle of normal library business, saw another alcove-looking area, where I found stairs and an elevator. OK, we're in business. There were many rooms full of books in boxes. I didn't get much in the way of categories or descriptions, so I just wandered around trying to find authors or types of books I read. Most of what I saw were hardbacks, and I can't repurpose those to the used bookstores I patronize, so I didn't get anything. But there were lots of folks walking out with boxes of books. read more

This was the library I went to growing up and its exciting to see all the changes its going through. Its not huge but it has a lower level for town meetings, etc. The book level is still laid out as it was when I was growing up. I like how they have their DVD's organized, makes it a lot easier to search than some of the other branches. They are the only branch I've seen so far that is using a computer generated return system. You slide the book in and it processes the return right there, where at the other branches you're still leaving the on the counters or dropping the in the drop box. Some of the staff is still there from years ago which makes the familiarity very nice. I can't wait to see if other branches follow in the steps of Daniel Boone. read more

AMAZING location with so much fun for the kids. This review is not for the quality or building of the library itself... because I would give that a 10/10! This is for the content and the employees. First, no one is as grumpy as a library worker in the childrens section. Next, there is an obvious push of agendas happening at this library. If it were a private store, no problem! push whatever you'd like. what I don't appreciate is all of the obvious political agendas getting pushed in the childrens section of a public building... this is tax funded. so all content should have zero bias and be completely neutral. i'm afraid that's not the case. i'm not exaggerating... every single display is pushing gender ideas, sexuality, political figures, climate change, womens rights, etc. Like I said, no problem if it's private. but being a public library, I really don't appreciate the fact that my children literally can't look anywhere without some opinion being pushed on them. just take a moment to go to the BABY board book section and you'll see what I mean... when should babies learn about RBG, gender roles, activism, racism, sexuality, and climate change. no longer are the days of fun weather or season related displays. now they spend entire MONTHS pushing ideals that at least 50% of the tax payers most certainly wouldn't agree with. get ready for june in which they put rainbows everywhere, have rainbow parties, every display is about gender or coming out, and they even had a "demon drag queen" come talk to teens. REALLY?? since when do parents not get the day of when children learn these concepts?? this shouldn't be taught at a public library in the childrens area. so inappropriate!! no celebration plants growing in spring, the water cycle, heroes like fire fighters, or any other neutral idea. you will never see that here. every time I go it gets worse and worse. almost every book I see is pushing some sort of ideal, and it has to be coming from somewhere. needless to say, regardless of my opinion on these books, the library is REQUIRED to remain neutral and not push any opinions. parents do not appreciate the library trying to introduce our children to sexuality. read more

This was the library I went to throughout my childhood. I was in the area visiting my family and chose to stop in. Oh my, they have really undergone some renovations! I left truly impressed with the new space. It looked like a great place to study and enjoy books/movies. As always, everyone was friendly, and some even remembered me from my visits as a kid/teenager! read more

It is closing for a complete remodel. That is the end of it for the next year or so. I'm sure the rebuild will be grand though.

Watched them kick a toddler out of the library. Toddler playing in the kids play area downstairs. He was playing with my child and others and I didn't notice any bad behavior but a librarian ran over to the dad and said something about the child and they left immediately. They recently put in this great play area and I know the rules say no running or loud voices but it's a kids play area, can't expect young children to silently walk around a playground. I think the librarians need to lighten up, unless a child is ripping up books or seriously injuring other children just leave them alone and let them play. read more
