I've had a lifelong love of libraries and always like visiting, though I also borrow titles electronically via the Overdrive app. It's super easy to use and download/return materials. I particularly like the audio titles, as they make a long drive seem shorter. You can also book a spot upstairs to hold a private meeting or use a computer. There are a lot of spaces to sit dotting the library to enjoy reading a book or magazine - they have many racks of current editions. It's a very relaxing environment!

It was pretty busy and lots of people parking in front on the entry way to do book returns, I guess. The library was bright and clean inside. I just went and looked for a book, found what I needed, and did self-checkout. On my way out I noticed a table with diapers, spices, and paw paws. I wasn't sure what it was about, but I went back to the desk and asked the lady at the counter. The spices and the paw paws were free for the taking. I am not really familiar with Garam Masala, and it was a little packet stapled to pages with history, information, and recipes. So cool! I had also never tasted a paw paw before so I took one of those, too. Their sign indicated they were best eaten same day so I tried it when I got home, it was really good. I will have to see if my regular library has something like this.

We made a notary appointment on a Tuesday, Wednesday, we got in for an evening slide, and Wednesday evening. I did call to see if we can come in sooner and the accommodate us happily without any issues or concerns. We only waited for about five minutes before the notary was available for us, and we had come in an hour earlier than our original scheduled appointment. The lady that did our notarizing was very patient, we had a lot of documents that needed done. The library is always super clean and I will say everyone is so great if you need assistance or help locating anything. They also have a van swear they do reading with dogs, which I think is great as well.

This was going to be where i popped my city library cherry. Alas, I didn't even get to first base…read moreduring that inaugural visit. I had arrived on a weekday morning, only to find out that this branch didn't open until noon. Granted, I should have checked the website for hours, but it just didn't occur to me that a library would be closed at 11 a.m. Thus, I ran a quick errand, returned to wait in the parking lot, and then ventured inside at noon. The entrance from the parking lot is daunting. The automatic door is nice, but you walk into a weird vestibule without adequate signage telling you that pretty much everything is upstairs. At the information desk upstairs, I tried to get a library card, but they denied me because my driver license still has my previous address. It was within the city, but they still wanted a bill with my current address on it. I explained that all my bills were online and asked if i could show one via my phone, but they declined and demanded mail with my address on it. Any mail. That seems easy to fake, but whatever. I left and ended up getting my library card at a different branch. I returned a week later because the Jefferson branch was close to an appointment. New card in hand, I took a seat in one of the upstairs rooms to the right at a round table and tried to find an outlet for my laptop. A girl (not a worker) pointed out that outlets were hidden under bookshelves along the wall, not at the tables like in other branches. Moreover, there weren't many outlets, so if you couldn't sit next to one or didn't have an extra long cord for your laptop, you were out of luck. Wifi is free and speed is ok, just like at most of the other city library branches. You're not confined to a specific wifi seating area, either. I haven't wandered around much here. I know that there are a few computers with internet near the info desk (you need a library card to use them). The book selection looked decently fresh. Eh. *shrug* This library really is just my backup for when my preferred branches are inconvenient on certain days.

When I moved to Brentwood in 2010 I was happy to find out that they have an excellent library system. Rather than being part of the County Library system (which is also excellent) they are part of a local library consortium. As part of the consortium a patron has access to a large selection of books, movies, and audio material. I've never had any problems getting an item that I want. On top of the excellent material accessible through the library, I also have to give praise to the staff. They are a very friendly bunch. They also run a lot of great book clubs and crafting events. One last thing is that the membership in the consortium provides access to Hoopla. This provides digital access to books, music, movies, and comic books. It is a great resource for those readers that don't like the feel of a real book in their hands.

I can't believe the Brentwood Library has only 1 review? I spent about 2 hours here last week in…read morethe middle of the day on a Thursday. I was finishing a paper. Their wifi was good and it was relatively quiet. I say relatively because it's not a big space and a lot of people bring kids here. Always clean and the materials well organized though. Friendly librarians. Cute Young Adult section. Has an old library feel. Used to come here often when I lived closer. I'll be back!
