St. Louis Skin Solutions is clean with a pleasant, relaxing ambiance, and the technician I worked with was professional and attentive. However, it provided NO help whatsoever in removing my dark pigmentation or melasma. I initially sought treatment for melasma. The laser treatment was completely ineffective, and the subsequent Enlighten Depigmentation System triggered a severe full-body rash approximately 2.5 years ago. The rash was so intense that it required rocky and enormous medical helps to calm it down. After that difficult period, I managed my skin issue on my own. Through more than 2.5 years of focused self home care, I successfully cleared approximately 99% of my melasma using a simple daily regimen centered on Vanicream products. The results came entirely from my self home treatment -- NOT from this facility. A. For Professionals: If a client discloses that they have sensitive skin, I strongly recommend implementing a 72-hour patch test followed by a 5-day monitoring period as a standard precautionary step. This is far more effective than relying solely on a liability waiver. B. For Future Customers: Laser treatments or chemical peels might provide temporary surface-level improvement and a short-term glow, but if underlying internal factors (such as toxin accumulation) are not addressed, pigmentation issues like melasma are very likely to return. In my case, the clinical treatments from this facility offered zero benefit and instead caused a severe reaction. C. Key Recommendations from My Experience: a. Sun Protection: Practice absolute, consistent sun protection every day. b. Dietary Focus: - Avoid highly processed foods - Minimize high-sugar foods - Reduce high-salt intake - Eat plenty of green vegetables and a wide variety of colorful produce c. Maintain well-balanced daily nutrition d. Incorporate Vitamin C serum into your skincare routine e. Stress Management: Incorporate daily meditation and deep breathing exercises to support overall detoxification. Ah, the COVID era. What a memory this review will be someday. This business, like a lot of them, took the opportunity to update and expand their office. They now have two entrances instead of the previous one. It is divided by practitioner so know who you are seeing. They also ask that you BRING YOUR OWN PEN. They ask that you text them and wait in your car until they are ready for you. I forgot both of these things on my second COVID era visit as they did not remind me. The business seems 'bigger' than in years past. There is a little more confusion, more people, etc. But I still love Dr. Amy for filler. I have also done microneedling here which went well. It's over $300 with the PRP and around $150 without it. The office is always decorated so cute and they still take CareCredit. This is still the place to go to take years off your face until that magical step-in machine comes out! read more

So this review is super long overdue. Dr Amy Miller and her staff are stellar. The procedures are incredibly affordably priced, the location is centrally located with ample parking, and the team is not only well briefed in customer service but also with highly demanding clientele. I've had different treatments at SLSS from various laser procedures to Botox and would only rave, which is why I have referred numerous friends and colleagues to their office. Apparently they do offer some other services and have a dedicated makeup line, but I was brand loyal so I didn't explore. If you're going in for any type of treatment expect full education, the ability to answer all of your questions, an incredibly friendly demeanor while doing so, and being provided with best-in-class pre- and post-treatment care for the focused region of your skin. I first saw the founder of this business, Dr. Miller, in her original location, Clayton. She was great. Knowledgeable, charming and very good at her profession. That was 30 years ago. Over the years, I have had at least 10 appointments with SLSS which is now on Manchester road in the Des Peres area. Last year I had a skin rejuvenation treatment. During my visit, the therapist (not Dr. Miller) mentioned that she had a new treatment coming out by the end of the year. I waited until Feb, of this year and called to inquire about the treatment. I was told to email the therapist about my interest-which I did. After 10 days and no reply, I called back, and was given a load of excuses as to why she never got back to me including, she's been very busy, she's getting ready to go on vacation, and they haven't worked out the pricing on the new treatment. I was told it could be another couple of weeks before they start using this new treatment, That was 7 weeks ago. I have heard nothing from this clinic. I'm extremely disappointed that this is how a long term customer is treated. read more

My late father was a physician, my mother retired at 83 as nurse, my husband is a physician/professor/researcher, many of our friends are docs, one of my favorite physicians, when we lived in NY, is a dermatologist in Scarsdale. So, I am very skeptical going to a medspa run by a doctor who is not a dermatologist, because why, right? I have some facial sun damage and three dark splotches that are bugging me, but wrinkling is not a big problem, nor concern for me right now, even though I'm 58. My skin care is, how do I say this, definitely more medical based than cosmetically based. I've used prescribed retinoids and hydroquinone creams in the past. Prior to the peel, I came in for a consult and discussed with Lora my concerns and questions. She said that they recommend a regimen of hydroquinone for a week or so before the peel and I requested a prescription, which Lora said was available in the office. I was surprised to receive a "professional-grade" bottle of lightening cream, not at all the hydroquinone that I'd received from my NY dermatologist's prescription. I figured out why: The office gets the profit when I buy it from them. They get nothing if it is a prescription that I get filled at the CVS down the street. I did not like this at all, especially because I specifically asked for a prescription for hydroquinone and I got an over-the-counter product. But I did go ahead with a VI peel here a couple months ago. Lora was the esthetician and she was very professional. Before the procedure, using the "Janus" Skin Analyzer (or something like that) Lora took a photo of my face. I found it fairly useless and Lora agreed that some of its findings were off. I have very few wrinkles and the machine said I had the wrinkles of a 68-year-old. The peel itself went fine. Lora seemed to take her time. She thoroughly explained the after-care. Itching on day two was a bit intense but the flaking wasn't too bad. I won't return though. Why would I pay for salon-grade products when prescription products are the gold standard, besides having science-backed results? Why did I never see the doctor? So, it was a nice experience but I'm still looking. read more

Do not trust this company! During the middle of my electrolysis treatment, they raised the price astronomically from $150 per hour to $350 per hour. They obviously did not care about my treatment plan or the promises they made when I started it. They blamed staffing issues, but not having staff means you offer fewer appointments, not raise the price by $200 per hour. If you decide to use St. Louis Skin Solutions, they'll be nice and tell you what you want to hear, but be prepared for a bait and switch. read more

I wanted to leave a review as a woman of color as there is a negative review on here from another woman of color which made me hesitate for months before pulling the trigger on a potentially life changing treatment. I am an African American woman recently diagnosed with PCOS and suffer from hirsutism as a result. The hirsutism is very mild but I am very much prone to ingrowns and even more prone to scarring. Because of that, I wanted to get laser done but was obviously hesitant being a IV on the Fitzpatrick scale and that only one specific laser is safe to use for my skin type (Nd: Yag). I did a google search for the yag laser in stl and this place popped up, I read the ONE review from a woman of color an instantly felt my heart sink. That was probably back in December. After another 4 more months of scarring and buying inexpensive, ineffective ingrown hair creams I circled back and made an appointment in June anyways. I'm extremely glad I did. I went in and my consultation was very long and thorough and I felt extremely confident that my laser specialist (I think her name was Natalie) really understood my skin and how the laser works with melanin. I expressed to her my fears about scarring even further and she made sure that I felt comfortable and reassured me that it was unlikely. I went ahead with treatment that day. It is three days later and my skin is perfectly fine. I obviously can't speak to results yet but I am confident that I will be satisfied. I also want to talk about price because is another thing that I was extremely impressed with. I got my neck, chest, and happy trail area done all for 150 which is extremely different (in a good way) than the price I was quoted over the phone (and they warned me that it was likely to change). It obviously depends on how much hair you have (my hair is very scant and sparse on my chest, but much thicker in my happy trail area) but they are very much going to tailor the price to your specific needs. For example, I was quoted 200 alone for my chest. When I was actually evaluated, the price for that area was only 50$. Long story short, if you make an appointment and they quote you a price and you think to yourself "Based on the amount of hair I have, it probably wont be that" you are probably right. Finally, there is a rather stringent cancellation policy: 50$ for a no-show and 25$ for cancelling within a 24-hour time period and that was contract I read and signed. I cannot speak to the other woman of color's experience because from her review it seems possible that she did not have to sign such a contract when she began treatment, rather that it was imposed on her retroactively or something to that effect. All I can say is this: honor your appointment or reschedule well in advance and there will likely be no issue. Please give this place a shot!!! read more

I love this place! I was very afraid of Botox and filler due to my sensitive skin and allergies. Dr Amy Miller put me right at ease. I was a smoker for many years and wanted to do something to erase the lines around my lips. I just want to look very natural, just a little smoother. My eyes are deep set and I can look tired easily. So, I want to look well rested. A little Botox in the forehead, a little filler for my lips, and I'm good to go! Amy listens really well and never over does it. If you're a woman of color, I'd think twice about going here because you may be treated differently. I was a loyal customer for a year and a half. One day I was told that since I missed an appt, I'd have to pay a cancellation fee. I didn't have an issue with it before I realized that the rule wasn't announced as effective for rest of her clientele until January 1, 2020. I called the office and asked the office manager to give me a call, however I never stated the nature of why I needed to talk. To my dismay I then found myself compelled to file reports through the BBB and Missouri Department of Labor on this business! Dr. Amy Millers office manager, Ted Kapanski, left a very inappropriate voicemail on my phone. He decided to claim that I single handedly, "caused St.Louis Skin Solutions to loose thousands of dollars in revenue." I returned his call and asked why he randomly made that comment. (It was then that he realized his mistake of assuming why I needed to talk, before asking me first.) Instead of admitting fault his unprofessional reply was, "You've missed 4 appointments in the past, and you now have 3 seconds left until I hang up the phone." His justification was hypocritical, because there have been instances where they needed to reschedule me last minute or my appointment started very late because they were behind. There was even an instance where I'd driven all the way to the office, to then find out that their office was actually closed. In conclusion, put your beauty needs in the hands of a business that truly makes you feel "empowered" as their mission statement claims to do, when in actuality they disrespect and belittle loyal customers. read more
