Glacier cabins have great views from small deck with the sound of a river in the background. Very comfortable bed and four nice pillows. Nice quality linens and towels. Cabins are small and a bit spartan, but well maintained. Not a lot of room for groceries or other things. More than two people would be tight. TV is in bedroom , not sure why as there is a space in the small living room and it would be much easier to watch television while snacking or eating a meal with a TV in the living room. There is road noise, but it stops after dark. WiFi is weak and unreliable. Service is good and front desk responsive. Overall the cabins are a nice option, but they are pretty pricey for what you get. read more

We had a nice stay here in the middle of June. We had reservations for two nights. The hotel room was nice and the view from the balcony was amazing. It looks a bit dated but we loved the location and how close it was to the park entrance. They also have shops and gas close bye which is a plus. We went to the restaurant twice for dinner and it was good. A bit pricey but decent food and great service. Would come back here if we're visiting glacier again. read more

We stopped by after a boat ride at St Mary's lake. we actually meet a few ladies that are hiking guides support the locals. she gave us a tip to walk up and see the moose by the little lake but of course we just missed them I heard there were 5 of them... we ate a little dinner here actually one of the guides was nice enough to give us a free voucher for a meal. We had a pizza that looked amazing but looked better than it tasted. we also had a hamburger which was good. the service was amazing considering they only had one person taking the orders.. you order your food and then find yourself a seat. the person taking the order a young man was pretty great he had a line and kepted calm and took the orders... the ladies bringing the food they were good to patient and trying to keep up with the dinner crowd. read more

We stumbled in here for a bite to eat for lunch after a nice drive through the park. We honestly didn't even know there was a town on the other side of the park but man were we hungry. The staff seemed chaotic and busy but brought us to a nice table by the window. They warned us they were busy but the greeting was still a bit odd and abrasive. Dang were they right about the wait...unfortunately the wait kinda ruined our time, even though we weren't in much of a rush, it took foreverrr. Food was ok, but bread on sandwich was stale. There were some interesting options, I ordered the bison quesadilla and it was pretty decent and unique. They forgot our appetizer, so that took even longer to wait and was odd to have that after our normal meal. The servers were trying but the place was completely overwhelmed with guests. I was drawn to St Mary Village because of the location and ease of having 24 hour gas and grocery within walking distance. We arrived and checked into our room in the mail lodge to immediately feel disappointed. The room was small, VERY small. I can live with small rooms because we hike all day and really only need the room to sleep. Then I walked into the bathroom. I am 5' tall and under 145 so not a big person by any measure. I could not sit on the toilet without hitting the sink, could not stand under the shower head, and could not wash my hair without hitting my elbows on the sides of the shower. Completely unacceptable! After hiking 9-12 hours a day the only thing you really want to a nice relaxing shower and that was impossible. The restaurant was decent but pricey. Dinner will run you $15-25 for an appetizer and $25+ for a meal. Breakfast was a little more in line around $15 a plate. Went to the grocery store for some body wash, $15 for a bottle of Dover. Gas was marked up as well. It is nice to have everything right there but be prepared to pay the price - they were also NOT open 24 hours per the website. Most places closed by 8:00pm. The room was ridiculous - I recommend looking for accommodations elsewhere. read more

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Glacier. We were in the Great Bear Lodge. The rooms are pretty pricey and I don't think they're worth the price. Being one of the only places to stay in the area, they can get away with that. The beds were comfortable enough and the room was clean. The view from the balcony was gorgeous. The queen beds seemed pretty small. The sink in the bathroom didn't drain and when we asked them to fix it, either they never came to fix it or it still didn't drain after they came. The shower curtain rod was rusty. The room could have used an update. If I were to come back, I would try to see if there was availability in the Many Glacier Hotel instead. read more

My family planned to take a 4-5 hour hike at Glacier National Park but they accidentally took the wrong trail so it ended up being a 7-hour hike (with very little food). I'm so thankful I didn't join them for that! ;) Anyway... by the time they finally returned it was too late to drive to our booked cabin (we would have arrived after 1am) so we had to find a near-by hotel. We visited a campground and a few other hotels first but ended up here because all the other campgrounds, cabins, and hotels were full. The $200-something room was probably the most expensive one we got during our trip but it was also one of the nicest. The evening front desk people were also really awesome! The good: - Cute room! - Two comfortable beds AND a pull-out couch. My (23yo) cousin was so happy she didn't have to share a bed with her dad. - Pretty nice bathroom and shower. - A balcony with a pretty nice view. Wish I had time to relax out there for a while! The bad: - The rooms and the front desk are in different buildings and the wifi doesn't reach the rooms. We have a bad time in this lodge. Cable TV don't work, no wifi, spider web below the bed frame. I was going to stop here, but the fact need to be explained. I should have read the Yelp reviews before booking. We arrive early in the morning and their check in time is 3:00 pm. We decide to hit the Glacier national park before our check in. We select this lodge because it is just outside of Glacier National Park. After we have check in, we were informed the wifi is down. And they work on it. The wifi never come back. We try to turn on the room TV. It do not has the signal. The front desk later inform their satellite is down. We book this room and keep thinking we will be at the main lodge. Later we realize they have several properties with smaller cabins at the different building. My key fall down to the floor and I went to pick up, I saw spider web build up below the bed frame. Floor below bed is not properly clean. I would suggest before booking, please ask where are going to place you. Don't deceive by pretty picture of the lodge in the web site. You may get the cabin in different properties. The cabin has bad sound proof wall. You can hear from next door snoring. If they place you at cabin, you might want to get other hotel. read more

We stayed at St. Mary for 2 nights. We liked it better than the East Glacier Lodge. We had a room with a balcony, 2 beds, a nice bath, and couch, and a TV. We didn't mind walking from the main hotel to our room. We did get there at the end of the season and some things are hard to come by- like the grocery store was pretty sparse and some of the day trips were canceled because it snowed- in mid-September! The room was nice enough. The beds and pillows were ok. It wasn't 5 star, and there were a few repairs to be made in the room (like a torn screen), but who cares. It was wonderful having a balcony with such a fantastic view. The bathroom was 20 million times better than East Glacier. We loved the bar/lounge with fireplace. They have a great bar menu, but we ended up ordering the charcuterie board both nights, because it is that good! We ordered both drinks and beers at the bar before dinner, too. A great drink and beer selection. We had breakfast and dinner in the dining room. The food was excellent all the times we ate. I highly recommend the flat bread totastas for breakfast, but my hubby would probably recommend the french toast. Dinner was good both nights, as well. I had pasta one night and bison salad- both good. Most of all, we loved being down the road from a trail or two. Red Eagle is an easy hike, but we didn't even make it half way both times. The first time, we were too busy taking pictures. The second time, it was pouring and then it started to snow. We were soaked- but who cares where you have views like this to look at. We stayed in the Bear Lodge. This place has several different areas to sleep at. The Good: Location. Friendly staff. Everything you need in one spot (lodging, gas, food market). On the river. Location. Clean enough. The bad: Outdated rooms. Which means years of dirt in that carpet, on the drapes and imbedded in the furniture. WiFi was spotty Pilly sheets. I read another review about the sheets and wondered why this would be such an issue. It is. The sheets were rough and very uncomfortable. Then it grossed me out thinking how old the sheets were to be that uncomfortable. I have pilly sheets at home. Nothing like this. The ugly: The price. You are paying for the location. This is a 2 star hotel at a 4-5 star price. They need to use the money to update and replace items. There is mold in the bathroom. See picture. This could have been an easy fix. The shower curtain rod is leaning and it forces the curtain open, therefore water spilling on the wall. Now they have mold, which they thought they could cover up with plaster and paint. This place was pretty much a joke. The room we had was barely big enough for our bed. The bathroom was very small and had no shelves for you essentials. The room was very old and was upstairs just off a service entrance elevator. The carpet was filthy. We had not TV and not internet. The areas was gorgeous but he price for the room was over the top expensive for such a pathetic room. I suppose there are better rooms but we never saw them. I asked to be moved to another room but none were available. WE also made our reservations 6 months in advance so it shouldn't have been an issue. Restaurant was good. I also liked the fact that there was a store, gas, station and other conveniences on the property. But I would not stay there again. read more

After our previous motel, this felt like the Ritz!! I guess expectations are everything, or at least count for a good amount. I didn't look at Yelp before staying here (I didn't research or book the accommodations), and was surprised by the poor overall ratings when I just looked. I can only speak to my recent experience, and our room in the Great Bear Lodge seemed huge (compared to West Glacier Motel). Our room was updated, clean, and I was pleasantly surprised to have a second sink and mini fridge. Additionally, the room had an a/c unit that was more than adequate to cool the room, wi-fi, TV (nice surprise to be able to watch the Olympics in the evening), coffee maker, and a balcony with mountain and creek views! Luxury compared to the previous night. Felt quite roomy and comfortable, and fit all our luggage (we had to leave most of it in the car at our previous accommodations). It does look like prices have gone up even more since we booked, but while I know the room was more than twice as much as our previous place, it felt at least twice as nice too. Would be great if both were cheaper, but when there are limited options, I suppose we're all at the mercy of inflated prices... at least I felt when comparing the prices and accommodations, the increase was fair (comparatively) for the area. Also loved that they had a recycle container in the room!! Coming from a place where I'm used to being able to recycle almost everything, I was holding onto what basic recyclables I could. I was so relieved to offload what we had collected, knowing all that plastic and paper wouldn't end up in a landfill! We didn't have any major issues, and minor ones were promptly addressed and questions were answered pleasantly. While a bit pricey, the ice cream shop offered yummy "themed" flavors ("moose tracks," "mountain mint," etc.) that were a welcome refreshment in the heat. Didn't try it here, but they also had huckleberry ice cream (we were told by a friend who grew up in Montana that it's a must to try something huckleberry when visiting). The grocery store had milk that fit in the little fridge. More offerings that we didn't need (souvenir shop, restaurant, gas, etc.) are all in one convenient place. Couldn't get closer to the east entrance of Glacier National Park. If we ever visit Glacier again, I would definitely be happy to stay at St. Mary Lodge (at least in the Great Bear Lodge) again! read more

Soooo expensive and we weren't even staying in the main lodge. The lodge itself is nice although I didn't appreciate the dead Grizzly bear (there is a story behind that I didn't care for). My daughter thought it was adorable. Yes, she did. And insisted on taking pictures of it on my phone. Inside is a cafe where you can get decent coffee and pastries and of course a gift shop. We stayed in one of the motel buildings across the road. The advantage to that being you didn't have upstairs or downstairs neighbors and it was probably a lot quieter than the lodge itself. The rooms felt downright palatial after the Swift Current Motor lodge in the park, but there wasn't anything fancy about them. Just a good size. It had a T.V. which was good for the kids but no wifi. Wifi is available in the lobby (across the street). I probably would give it a 3 but the price is too much for what is basically a standard motel room (and not any nicer than that either). read more

I have bookmarked this place to review after my initial frustration and disappointment have worn off. But alas, thinking about this place again makes me very sad. First thing you should know - there is a double taxation in practice, which adds close to 20% to the originally quoted price for accommodation in this lodge. (My tongue twists to call it a resort). Inside the room, you will find a squeaky coil mattress, a bathroom door that won't close, and stench of mold that will follow you throughout your stay. At some point, you would think that fancy looking restaurant inside the main building will satisfy your hunger, but think again. Here's an advice - fill a cooler with your own food because you won't find ANY decent food nearby. In fact, the subway shop that is almost 60 miles away will taste better than anything found here. In conclusion? Stay away. read more

This is a review of the resort. The common areas were fine, restaurant was fine. Rooms were Cute, at first. We discovered the sheets were covered in some sort of "Sand"- and the balconies had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. After contacting management, we settled into our room. The room Was NEVER CLEANED- even though the front desk and housekeeping tried to convince us it was. The trash cans were NEVER emptied- NEVER- no towels, nothing touched. It was impossible to get anyone to do anything at this resort. We were traveling with a large group (7 families/32pp) and discovered the same was true in ALL of the other rooms. This hotel was literally run by a group of teenagers. Talking to housekeeping and the front desk was just as difficult as you would imagine. We LOVED that side of Glacier Park so enjoyed our visit to the area, but the lodging left much to be desired. read more

The stay started fine. The lady in the gift shop was amazing, so sweet. We were able to go without a reservation and get a room... except the room was miserable. Every 45 minutes or so the pipes would rumble and it sounded like a diesel engine in the room. It was also an incredibly uncomfortable room, very dreary. After not sleeping a wink, and checking out the next morning, I complained, and I received no sympathy from the manager on duty. I continued to check out and wait for my ride in the lobby, which looked nice and had nice memorabilia everywhere. Then 11:30 AM hit, and boom... no wifi. This wouldn't be an issue, but according to the staff there is absolutely no cell phone reception except Verizon at the hotel. I asked for the wifi password and they said no, because I have checked out. Not a huge deal, I will just wait in the lobby for my ride. Hours past from the time I was supposed to be picked up and I was worried. No staff was willing to give me the wifi password so I could send an email. I was visibly distraught and nobody cared. "The visitor center about a half mile down has wifi. You can use that." Rude. Absolutely terrible... I was a paying customer in need of a way to communicate, and instead of letting me use the wifi for another hour or so waiting for my ride because he was stuck at the border in a long line, my only resort was to continue panicking hoping he didn't forget about me. After they have your money and you've checked out you are a burden. Do not stay here. Find another place. read more

On Saturday June 5th about 4pm, my husband and I ended our ride through the park at your Mountain Bar in St Mary's Lodge for a late lunch. We spoke with the bartender asking if we could sit outside and she said yes that someone would be out there to help us shortly. We sat there for 20 minutes waiting for water, menu's, just some sort of acknowledgement that they knew we were there. There were two other tables out there, one had 2 people the other 1. Emily was serving those tables and had been out there twice already without giving any indication she was going to take care of us. My husband finally went inside and asked for menu's. The bartender let him know they would be out there to get our order. 15 minutes went by. My husband went inside placed our order and got our sodas. The other couple out there had their food delivered by Emily, who still wouldn't acknowledge us. Just so you understand we have been sitting on your deck for almost 30 minutes with absolutely no service; none, zilch, nada!! Finally, A young man delivered our food asked if we needed silverware (yes) and got my husband a refill on soda. That was THE ONLY SERVICE we received the WHOLE HOUR plus we were there. We finished our meal, I never got a refill on my soda, no one...NO ONE... ever came out to ask if everything was ok, did we need anything, or would we like our check. Oh, but by this time Emily had come out with a check for the other two tables and STILL ignored us, would not even make eye contact. We waited 5 more minutes, my husband went to the restroom, we went to the gift shop, we waited in the parking lot. Absolutely NO ONE knew we were there, nor recognized when we left. You are supposed to be a top of the line establishment?!?! There is absolutely, in no way, shape, or form, that I would recommend this establishment to ANYONE! Oh and don't worry about doing something for us for your horrible, no good, bad service. OK. The lady who booked us in the St. Mary's...which was a last minute hotel choice...suggested we stay in the "newer" part of the lodge if we had allergies. (What they call the "West Motel.) Rooms in the "Great Bear Lodge" are also passable. So I'm guessing that the stinky dump reviews come from people who didn't want to pay the extra $$ for a room in the newer part of the complex...and stayed in the old, "Pet Friendly" part of the resort. Our room was OK. It was not worth the price we paid for it...but it was clean. A "resort" it was not...but the bed was comfortable...the maid service was excellent...everything worked...and there wasn't mold in the room. It was recently decorated in "Moose Modern." That said...I wouldn't stay here again if I had a choice. For the $160+ dollars we paid...it was not a $160+ dollar room. It was a $95 dollar room. And miss the food at the resort. Go down the street to either the Park Cafe or Two Sisters Cafe. Also miss the gas station in favor of cheaper gas along the highway. It gets three stars...for the really good maid service. Clean cups, extra coffee...and an obvious scrub out of the tub after we had a muddy hiking adventure. Otherwise I'd give it two simply for the price. read more

I have never written a Yelp review before in my life, and am not the kind of person to do so, but the staff at St. Mary's went so far above and beyond to make my stay at the Tiny Home Village special that I had to make them my first. I first contacted the wonderful St. Mary's staff because I was planning to propose to my girlfriend of thirteen years on a hike to Iceberg Lake the morning before our arrival (which, by the way, if you're staying in the area you really ought to make the trip out to). I wanted to send out a few items -- champagne, flowers, chocolates, etc -- to be set up in the room for when we arrived. From that point, it felt like everyone at St. Mary's made it their personal mission to make my proposal a success. I sent a number of decorations that I wasn't even sure what to do with -- a bag of rose petals, for example -- that the staff did such a beautiful job of setting up and making everything perfectly picturesque. It was all so far above and beyond my expectations. My fianceé cried when she saw the room. :) But my whole experience with the proposal aside, I couldn't imagine a better place to set up base camp for a trip into Glacier than the Tiny Home Village. The room was clean and comfortable, with a fully furnished miniature kitchen, soft (I believe foam) bed -- and don't get me started on the separate bathhouse. When I read that the bathrooms were detached from the house itself, I feared outhouse. Instead, this baby had a jacuzzi tub big enough to fit two. And the sunset views from our little porch were spectacular -- looking out over the adjacent creek onto the mountains of the park. For the instagram crowd, I doubt there's a cuter place in all of Glacier to stay. My only regret was that I didn't stay in St. Mary's longer. I've read some reviews that question the accommodations in the main lodge, and I can't speak to that experience. But the staff couldn't have gone further above and beyond to help me, and the Tiny Homes were just perfect. read more

The day to day living is okay, however if you have any type of problem upper management is unhelpful at best and down right rude and abrasive at worst. I had the unholy experience of dealing with the location manager at one point. After a number of basic easily preventable issues with the living conditions. In shot the location is breathtaking however the lodge should be avoided like the zika virus. I'd would rather stay at the KOA and drive the 7 minutes. read more

We enjoyed a great post-hike birthday meal here last year. After checking out Logan's Pass we ended up in this little alcove of the park and were starving. We sat on some comfy couches close to the fireplace and started off with a huckleberry lemonade cocktail and some trout dip. It was great! For lunch I had the salmon cake BLT and it was delicious. Of course my sister didn't let me go without dessert on my birthday :) We had some huckleberry cobbler with ice cream to celebrate. Our server was very nice and while it was busy he was efficient and thoughtful. We had a great time and just wanted to curl up on the couches and nap afterwards but chose to shop in their store instead. We'll be back soon! read more

We stayed in Cabin 2 by the river, enjoyed evenings on the deck playing Yahtzee and taking in the view. Cabin layout worked out well for our family (2 adults, a 1yo and a 4yo). Kitchen was adequately stocked and we made pancakes and used the tiny fridge and microwave. The location is just outside the GNP and there is a little market and gift shops and a couple of restaurants nearby. With that said at over $300 per night I had had higher expectations! The level of cleanliness of the cabin when we arrived was sub-par. Lots of dead bugs, spiderwebs and dust everywhere. We actually had to call and request our own broom to tidy up. Housekeeping was at the bare minimum, you must do all your own dishes, toilet paper is more like sand paper and beds are uncomfortable (I am praying the towels and sheets were actually washed from the guests prior to us). We would return from a day of hiking and maybe toiletries would be restocked and beds made...no other cleaning was done. We ate at the lodge the first night and food was mediocre and spendy. Eat in Babb, it's worth the drive. The staff need more training in customer service and basic housekeeping. read more

We stayed in the main lodge portion of the hotel. The room was smaller but clean. You can tell this was the older portion because the bathroom was also small and no place to put your toiletries. At least, they had WiFi in the lobby. No TV but that's ok. We were there to enjoy the scenery. We had cocktails in the lounge and the server was friendly and quick. We were staying on the other side of the park, and made our way out to St. Mary many times, and stopped here on several of our trips. First -- the coffee bar was good, but erratic. One visit's coffee was notably better than another, but it varied from good to excellent (far better than the other variation). Second -- the restaurant was bad, but erratic. Our waitress appeared unable to convey the problems with both drinks and food to the bar and kitchen respectively. Some of the food was excellent but other dishes were very literally inedible (and that's a hard mark to reach after a day's hiking). Stop for coffee on the way through and you'll be happy. I plan to do exactly that (and no more) the next time I'm in town. read more

You'd never know it by looking at the exterior, but the St Mary Lodge & Resort is not only one of the worst run lodging establishments we've ever stayed in, it is also --arguably-- one of the most expensive for what you get. In our case: a pathetic matchbox, thin-walled motel room with pipes running across the ceiling and the walls; mold in the bathroom, half painted doors and walls; and lights that did not work -- all for $224! An inexcusable ripoff and the service in the restaurant wasn't very good. The food sucked too. As we checked out, another customer (unknown to us) said to the front desk, "Give me the name of your CEO: this is the worst lodging establishment my wife and I have ever stayed in. I'm going to send him money for a room so he can come stay here and see for himself." We're Montanans, but my wife and I have traveled the world, and have stayed in a few worse places -- but they never had the gall to charge $224 for one night; not for a dump like the St. Mary's Lodge. If they'd charged $69 I probably would have agreed that the $69 was for proximity to Glacier National Park. But not a penny more. Disgraceful! read more

Very disappointing. Clearly taking advantage of limited options in area. This September we had to cut short our stay on the West side of Glacier due to the Going to the Sun road being closed, cutting off access from the West side to the East side. The room they ended up giving us in this lodge was in the basement of the building with the store and restaurant and it was horrible. A tiny room with old linoleum, a tiny half window (it was below ground, mind you), and a bed my wife didn't want to sleep on without sleeping bags. There were several rooms in this basement area, clearly being rented out to suckers like us who had no other lodging options. The space looked like it had been originally used as rooms for the staff, which only made me feel sorry for the staff that used to sleep in them. read more

Yeah, most of the other reviewers have summed it up. We too were in a basement room...it must be the cheapest, which is not cheap at all. I've paid far less for much nicer rooms, however, I was expecting to get overcharged to some extent solely due to location. The bathroom sink is actually the smallest sink I have ever seen, even when traipsing around asia. The shower pressure and temp was fine but the curtain did nothing to prevent water from leaking out all over the floor, therefore the baseboards in the bathroom are all rotted. The bed was fine but I was out from an ambien. Personally, I appreciated the exposed fire sprinkler piping. It made for great drying racks for our rain soaked hiking gear. The overall ambiance of the room is awful. Luckily I'm here with my brother so as 2 grizzled dudes, we were only interested in a convenient basecamp for hiking the east side of the park. If it was my wife, I'd be embarrassed that I took her here. There is wifi but it only really works in the lobby. There is a comfortable lounge overlooking part of the park, serving food and alcohol. The restaurant was fine. We only ate breakfast there. There is also a gift shop on premise, along with a gas station, a general store, and a soda shop. The hotel is within a short 3 minute walk to a delicious pizza joint. There is no laundry facility on site, only a campground up the road with public laundry. On the plus, staff is extremely friendly. Of note, Kevin, the bell manager...superb customer service skills. You get essentially a motel 6 at Hilton prices, but that's the price of convenience to the park. read more

I would give this lodge two stars but will give three because of the wonderful service we received from Weronica and Iren. They were so helpful and nice. The rooms are worn out and felt that way. They were clean so that was good. The balcony was lovely. The bathtub is a disaster waiting to happen. To get into the shower one has to lift their leg very high and over. The problem is that the sides were well above my knee and there is not grab to help. I cannot say do not stay here because it is nearly the only place to stay but would say that it is insanely overpriced for what it is. read more
