Technically there is a balcony, but it is shared with the neighboring room, and the other guests clearly weren't happy to have to share the space. Their dirty laundry was unlovely, hung to dry alongside the slim view. Also, do not dine here. If you're considering staying here, I'd recommend booking one of the standard front-facing rooms instead. Based on our experience, I would not recommend paying extra for the Honeymoon Suite.

To be warned this place is dated. But it is unpretentious, cheapest place we stayed at, clean (which you would be surprised at is apparently optional in the Rockies), and has the best view we had in the trip. We stayed at four other water front motels. This had the best view. Sunrise and sunset were extraordinary. Chairs provided in front of the room to enjoy the lake. Very elderly and family friendly. Only guests can use this part of the lakefront. If you have have modern this is not the place for you. For everyone airplane.else this is for you. It's a peaceful lodge tucked away in a corner of the property that has a serene porch that we sat out on each night with views of the mountains. The room cleanliness was impeccable - much cleaner than any chain hotel I've stayed at. The housekeeping staff even left hand written notes for us, and went above and beyond in making sure all of the guests needs were not just met but exceeded when we needed help. You will not meet a more pleasant front desk staff who was genuinely excited to talk to you each day and answer any of your questions! The drive to the entrance of west glacier was maybe 5 minutes - perfect for quick access to the park. 2) We did the fly fishing all day tour which I would highly recommend. I would be amiss without mentioning our guide Chaney by name. He reached out to us ahead of time and was extremely kind and flexible - adapting to any requests I had to make the trip personalized. And he was amazing during the actual guide! He had us laughing, smiling and learning so much throughout the whole day. And he did it all while rowing us down rapids!! His knowledge of the local wildlife was impressive and you can tell he truly cares deeply about what he does. Not to mention the beauty of the river itself - it would have been worth it to go just for the views, and getting to fish while doing it was even better! All in all - exceptional place, I plan to re-book for my next visit in the area.

And the breakfast changes daily and super delicious! They also provide trail bars, fruits , yogurt and assortment of cakes, breads, cereals and even almond milk. Amanda makes the perfect well-timed hard-boiled eggs! She also went the extra miles to help us in our trip. We were so comfortable I didn't want to leave! For example, we arrived late one evening from Glacier Park, around 9:00 pm, and I was planning to make some spaghetti for a later dinner for my two kids. When I looked for a pot to boil the noodles, however, I couldn't find one, and then I saw the sign by the phone in the cabin that read "If you need anything," to call their service number. When I called the number, there was no answer, and since I had stayed at the Great Bear Inn before, I walked over to the main building, which was always open for guests, to find someone to help. When I found the place quiet and the manager's office closed, however, I went into the public kitchen area and took a pot, walked back to my cabin, and made the spaghetti. After my family ate the food, I washed and cleaned the pot and returned it to the kitchen. The following day I called the landlady, named "Bunny," and asked what I needed to do to check out the following day. When she asked me why I had called the previous night, I explained I needed to borrow a pot to cook spaghetti, but after I tried calling and then walked over to the office and found no one to help, I borrowed one from the public kitchen area, used it to boil the noodles, and after eating, I had cleaned the pot and promptly returned it to the kitchen. Bunny was irate and scolded me for doing this, insinuating that I had broken some sort of unpublished rule that the kitchen was off limits to guests. When I objected and said that I had both called and walked to the office for help, she was became rude to me, saying that she had an early bedtime schedule and could not be bothered after 9:00 pm. When I expressed my dissatisfaction at this blatant disregard of the customer's need, she became hostile, and when I told her that I had paid over $1500 to stay in the supposedly furnished cabin for three nights and therefore had a reasonable expectation to have the place furnished as was stated in the advertisement. When Bunny insisted that the pot I had needed was included in the kitchen area, I looked once again and finally found it -- but it was stored behind a wooden panel that was stuck due to poor maintenance of the property. When I explained this to her she was entirely unsympathetic and cold toward me... I have no ill-will toward Bunny and her husband Larry who manage the new version of the "Great Bear Inn." I had stayed at the resort twice before in previous years and under the former management my experience then was happy and the service was excellent. However I can no longer recommend the Great Bear Inn because the new management apparently has no idea of what decent customer service means. Let me close by saying that on the day of our departure, Larry, the husband of Bunny, aggressively came to the cabin and pounded on the door telling us to get out because it was almost 11:00 AM. At the time I was washing dishes we used there because there was a sign posted that said that all residents must wash the dishes before leaving, but Larry told me to just forget it and get out... He and Bunny then sat in their noisy ATV jeep in front of cabin until we finished packing the car and we drove off.... Disgraceful and childish behavior, to say the least, and I will NEVER stay at the Great Bear Inn again. For these and other reasons, not the least being the $500 per night price for staying there, I EMPHATICALLY DO NOT RECOMMEND THE GREAT BEAR INN.

It's only like 35 minutes from west entrance of the park. It's a better value as it includes breakfast.

I noticed at least one review mentioned a kitchen - we did not have one; there wouldn't be anywhere for even a small fridge to be in the room we were in! Based on the West Glacier Village website, it looks like the cabins are renovated, have kitchens, a/c, etc. The motel, not so much. I could deal with small, but I had to knock it to 2 stars since I made a disgusting discovery behind the bathroom door - - someone's old, wet (I'm assuming; I didn't touch it but it looked damp) underwear and shirt, yuck!! I was shocked to see that a review from 7 years ago mentioned finding underwear behind her door too... what??! For a place so tiny, you'd think they'd do a better job of checking and cleaning the small space! The room was quite dim, so I didn't want to go barefoot after my find; I wore shoes or flip flops the whole time, including in the teeny shower. Fortunately, we were there for less than 10 hours, just to shower and sleep before heading on our way. It was really hot and hard to sleep, but at least they had an old fan that helped circulate the air. I know we were fortunate to be able to reserve anything in the area, but for sanitary reasons, the rooms (or at least the one we were in) could benefit from a renovation. And I would've felt much better if they cleaned the rooms better... I could see the dirty clothes; who knows what else was there that we couldn't see...

Honestly, this was the nicest place we stayed during our vacation out west, and we would love to come back for a week. The cabin was well-provisioned with everything you need, including a fridge, microwave, and TV/DVD (in case it rains?). The cabin was clean and very comfortable, and even romantic. The only drawback for us was that the weather was extremely unseasonably warm, and it took the log cabin a long time to cool down at night (it was in the high 90s and there is no AC). But the ceiling fan did help. Breakfast was delicious. The owner was very friendly and happy to give advice about things to see and do both inside and outside of the park. And the grounds are immaculate. If you want a nice place to stay where you can avoid the noise and crowds, I highly recommend staying here.

If you just want a nice LOOKING place with a few extra amenities near Glacier National Park, this…read morewill fit that bill. Don't get your hopes up too high. We stayed at the deluxe chalet for the second and last time this year. Here we go with the tough lesson that took us a second time to learn. The place LOOKS nice all-around. Your first clue that upkeep is not a priority is the second step on the stairs as you walk to the office to check in. It's split almost in half, making getting up the stairs a little dicey. Further on to the deluxe chalet, past lots of nice landscaping, paint is peeling everywhere, and wooden railings seem ideal for splinters. Inside the deluxe chalet, first impressions are nice. It LOOKS attractive. For the second year, the left sink in the full bath linked a LOT on the floor, making it virtually unusable. Though we shared the second sink, the fact that this wasn't fixed from last year seems to speak to the lack of concern for upkeep. There's daily maid service, but it seems to be a minimum. They make the beds, pick up used towels, and empty trash (usually), but they may rely too heavily on the Roomba. The wood floors never seemed clean, to the point where I noticed after walking around barefoot for a while inside, the water under my feet turned black briefly after I started my shower. If you want to sit and relax after a long day at the park, there's satellite TV, but navigating the menus is a mess (probably more DishTV's fault) and the smart TV features on all TVs were maddening to figure out, and never worked once you DID figure them out (partially Vizio's bad design). The wireless internet was reasonable, but note there are two routers with two different passwords. Because why make things simple? The bedrooms LOOK nice (seeing a trend?) but the beds are hard, and the pillows are only a slight step up from the ones airlines used to offer. If you need neck support, you might want to bring your own. Last, there's the overall struggle to be comfortable with the temperature. There's NO air conditioning, so if the outside temp breaks 80, good luck cooling down before nightfall, especially with poor indoor air circulation, even with a ceiling fan in the living room and one in one of the two bedrooms. The afternoon sun BAKES the sun room, and the rest of the time it matches the outdoor temperature, so it might as well be an open-air room. We finally learned the hard way that the premium cost for the deluxe chalet was not worth it for the not-at-all premium and uncomfortable experience. Hopefully this review can save you money, discomfort, and disappointment.
