My granddaughter loves the clothes I have bought for her from this adorable shop. And they're not clothes I find at other Dallas children's boutiques. The women who work there go out of their way to help me find the right sizes. And they are genuinely nice and make me feel welcome every time I come in. She told me about Arzberger Stationers, who generously offered to donate stationery to family members of flood victims. They sent me beautiful cards that were already personalized with my return address, making it simple for me to reach out and express my gratitude to friends and family who supported me. Because they only accept consignments on weekdays, I made a special trip during the workweek. When I arrived, no one was at the counter, and I had to find a team member downstairs to get assistance. I explained that I had two bags of well-maintained, name-brand children's shoes to consign. She told me they only accept "brand new" items, which was confusing given that this is a consignment store. When I tried to clarify what she meant, she was dismissive and made me feel as though I was inconveniencing her. My items were not formally declined. I chose to leave with them because the interaction was so condescending and unhelpful. I would rather donate them to someone in need than continue a transaction with an employee who treated me that way. Unfortunately, I will not be returning as either a consignor or a customer.

Every single canvas here could have gone home with me and I'd have been thrilled. The collection is so fresh and contemporary, it actually made me want to start five projects at once. They don't have a ton of large-format canvases, but there are some. Personally, I just wrapped up a belt project that took me...wait for it...20 years. Yes, two decades. I like to think of it as slow stitching, not procrastination. After finally finishing, over the past 6 or so months, I searched and searched for my next project and am a little bummed I didn't find this shop sooner. Turns out they weren't on Yelp. I actually stumbled upon them on TikTok, and in true enabler fashion, I set them up on Yelp myself. I had already bought my next canvases online, so when I came in I only needed all the fun extras to get started. Alice, who helped me, was fantastic. She set me up with the perfect thread colors, a needle minder, needles, stretcher bars and pins, and even a stitch book. Basically, she made sure I had everything except the snacks to sustain me through my next marathon project. And get this, they have in store classes too (check the website)! I'm absolutely psyched to go, because I could use a few tips to shorten my average project timeline from 20 years to less than 10. This place is such a great find. Whether you're brand new and "needlepoint curious" or a long-hauler like me, stop here first. You'll walk out happy, inspired, and probably with way more goodies than you planned. I'd ordered the Gingher Stork Embroidery Scissors nearly two years ago when I first had the slightest inclination that I may want to dabble down this road. I'm now completely enthralled. This coming from a woman who is not impressed by anything, at all, ever. I'm ordering books, supplies, watching videos, listening to podcasts and gearing up to really take this on soon. I couldn't wait for a class to become available, I needed immediate satisfaction today and I knew that would come in the form of getting my hands on the goods. No time to wait on a delivery. I had two local shops in mind and did another google search and decided my first stop would be Saville. Who am I to rate a needlepoint shop?! I know nothing! But here we are, giving my unsolicited opinion is one of many strengths in life. I loved the warm, friendly, welcoming environment. I found my first project, and got set up with my canvas, threads, needle, stretcher boards and tacks. I'm eagerly awaiting a class to post because your girl has got to get this going. My bank account has no idea what's about to hit it. I've already called home to tell my mother she needs to quit her job and become a finisher so I don't have extended wait times on my projects. I stepped in and immediately greeted by a young woman and two other women. I learned the owners were away at a conference but have been running the store for 45 years! I asked about their gifts, arts, books, etc. and found their prices to be the same as online and they can get anything within a week. My good friend just released a book and I encouraged them to have it on their bookshelf since it is getting rave reviews from Sean McDowell and people will be asking about it. It's a very nice store that serves the community well. They'd love to serve you and your church!

I quickly let them know I'm brand new and looking to start needlepoint quite soon. I picked up a Waffle House canvas (my first 18 count as my blueberry pancakes is a 13) and some thread. Jane was especially kind to not have me spend too much seeing as though this will be one of my first projects and helped select essentials thread for my stitching. There's that itty bitty part of me that always wants the good stuff but I'm sure this will be just fine seeing as though I'm not even certain how this whole new found desire to make this a hobby of mine will turn out. I stitched my first stitch with Jane and she was very encouraging and supportive. Their classes are sold out for the remainder of the year which feels common in the area. I'm really hoping to find a great one somewhere because I love hands on learning and feel most comfy around a professional to get started and answer questions that will undoubtedly arise. We'll see, as each day passes I'm growing more confident in just starting on my own with videos. I now have just about everything I think I'll need to begin. Jane gave me a project bag and some travel scissors in addition to a couple other needles. I liked her suggestion to not use stretcher bars, although I have some I may experiment with different ways to see which I prefer. Parking is a little wonky in the area due to construction on Lovers Lane, I'd suggest trying to park across the road if you can't snag a spot on their side.
