The dirtiest pool I've ever been to. Purely disgusting. There was so much in the pool. The fans they have blowing are covered in dust. The floors in pool area are covered in hair and very slippery. While this is quite a drive from our house, we took the whole family here for some sort of grand reopening. They had membership specials and an open day of swim and gym activities for everyone who wanted to attend. It was cool that they also included a bingo card with clues located around the gym so you could get a sense of what they offer while also filling out the game. While we did not get to use the gym itself on this trip, we did see that it was very large and well set up and had a lot of equipment to check out. We did though get to swim in the ginormous pool and splash areas. The kids absolutely love the very high diving boards, the vortex swimming circle, the lazy river, and of course the slides. I definitely love the oversized hot tub although you could not bring anyone under the age of 18 in it. The staff was warming and friendly and very helpful. There was plenty of parking and a lot of other amenities in the complex as well. I just wish it wasn't so far of a drive for us and we would be regulars here without a doubt! read more

I was cracking up laughing this morning as I looked back on my Rec-Plex review from 2011. Oh how things have changed! Hit the fast-forward button: I now have two little ones and my time at the Rec-Plex is now spent entertaining them vs. getting my own fitness goals in. I see it with a whole new set of eyes, and I am grateful! On days they're off school, I love to take them swimming... especially when it's cold outside. We ventured to the Rec-Plex last week for some pool action and it was so much fun! We went on a Friday around 12 and it wasn't too busy; maybe just 5-6 families. I'l take it! This pool is so great for kids. There are shallow parts, and also areas that go up to 3.6 feet so they can actually swim and burn off some energy. My little guys are still wearing floaties so they weren't allowed down the water slide, but that was some good motivation to finish up those swimming lessons. Just like I did when I was little, I took them to the snack area upstairs for some cheese fries and arcade game fun after we went swimming. This place is a wonderful spot to spend an afternoon and we will be back, even though we aren't residents! read more

This place is awesome. We were here for the State Wars hockey tournament and the facility is great. There are two buildings filled with athletic activities. There are three hockey rinks, several gym and weight areas, a spin room, basketball courts, and so much more. I wish our city had a facility like this place. The hockey rinks are air conditioned, so they offer a nice relief from the heat. The locker rooms are actually large enough for a team. Everything was clean and the facility was well-kept. It is definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. read more

Lindenwood takes up all of the swim lanes from 5am-8am as well as 1pm-7pm. If you plan to swim during those times don't bother you won't be able to. For a college that has their own natatorium they sure do like to ruin the membership purpose of the rec-plex. You pay $45 dollars a month for minimum gym equipment as well as very little swim time. The ymca would have been the better choice if I knew lindenwood was going to waste my membership privileges. read more

This is a great place with a wide variety of activities available. There are classes to take, an ice rink that is very nice and an Olympic size pool with diving boards in addition to a whirlpool in the children's area, a slide, hot tub and co-ed sauna. The facility is well maintained and the equipment is clean. It has everything you need for weights and cardio equipment. There is a track upstairs in the weight room that goes around the basketball court and the weights area. The basketball court is very nice and extremely well maintained. The only downside is you have to pay to use most items. Such as the basketballs, locks and towels. But they have discounted senior and kids prices as well as a heavily discounted daily pass cost for active military members. They were very kind to us at check in and gave us towels since we paid for the day pass plus locks because my boyfriend is active navy special ops. Very kind and helpful staff! read more

I used to enjoy going even tho it was rather old and the showers reminded me of camp. But the elliptical was great for my Rheumatoid arthritis. Then Covid hit and I couldn't expose myself even when they had limited openings. So I pd over 500 for almost a whole year of non use. I wrote and got no response. I'm the opposite of in shape, so I'm not exactly a regular at any sort of gym. I've been here before though, to use the pool and was overwhelmed by its size. It's got a competition pool, leisure pool and diving towers and springboards. No wonder the Plex was host to the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival aquatic events and the 2004 U.S. Olympic Diving Trials. All I remember is feeling like a guppie in it. It was also freezing! The RecPlex is 230,000 square feet and even has an ice rink inside. There's also a game room and cafe, gym, cardio theatre, weight room and aerobics classes (line dancing, anyone?). read more

The place is old and worn out. They do surface remodeling over grimey floors and walls. Crime has increased alot, don't take your eyes off your personal property. Took a fencing class here and loved it. Nice people and a great workout. Otherwise? The pool is often dirty and gross. I've been to birthday parties here and been shocked at how these 18 year olds treat the little kids and the parents. I've seen a manager yell at a mom, who herself wasn't yelling, because she had a problem. The manager literally put his hands on this poor woman. Do NOT have your kids party here. read more

I used to enjoy the rec plex before I move away a few years ago. Since I moved back I was excited to renew my membership, but upon checking out the facilities I was disappointed. The biggest complaint I have is that the registration and daily admissions staff are often completely uninformed and sometimes rude. They are unaware of class cancellations and are usually oblivious to your presence when trying to return rented items. I was also not willing to allow them to have access to my account on a monthly basis for only a one month membership. Since the daily fee, even for residents is exorbitant to pay just to use equipment for half an hour each day, I will not be going back. As I can see that the issues of running out of parking and equipment at peak times have not changed, it is not worth my time to go in and exercise on equipment that appears not to have been updated or maintained since my previous membership. read more

My friend had a guest pass so he invited me to go workout one day. Upon walking in I was very impressed at how clean and well maintained the facility was. I walked over to the food court to meet my friend and there I saw it,one of the most amazing swimming pools I've ever seen. It started with a walk in style pool for the young -ins with a slide then it separated into lap lanes for the adults and at the very end, a 15 foot deep diving pool with about 4 diving boards and a few extra lap lanes. I was floored! I hadn't swam laps in so long and this is where I got to swim. The pool is temperature controlled in relation to the weather outside, my friend explained. For example if it's warm outside it'll be nice and cool and vice versa. For the pool's 10 year anniversary it was chosen to host the 2004 Olympic diving trials so you know it's top notch. On top of that they have a hot tub as well as a sauna. I highly recommend checking this place out, could definitely see myself swimming there on a regular basis so long as my friend has guest passes for me. read more

Lot of renovation has been made to this place. It is much much better than it use to be. If you're a St. Peter's resident it's a great deal if you're not than its $4 for anyone under the age of 18. The new fitness center has been overhauled and it's much better with lots of new equipment. The swimming pool remains the same as before. Good for kids but just like any pool it gets very crowded. The St. Peters Rec Plex has been one of the sweet spots in my move back out to St. Charles County. I grew up going to the Rex-Plex--- ice skating with friends, playing basketball at junior high lock-ins, and celebrating my high school graduation there with a school sponsored overnight. Being back as an adult is equally sweet. I'm far from in shape, but i'm trying to get there, and I LOVE the community feel of the Rec Plex. I haven't ever felt judged and I appreciate seeing normal people: moms, dads, young professionals, and even teenagers, using the gym facilities. They have all of my favorite cardio machines (the Cybex ArcTrainer, elliptical, and even a row machine!) and I've truly begun to love strength training and even walking laps around their track. But the winner for me in all of this is the pool. As another reviewer mentioned, they have an Olympic sized pool, and much of my exercise comes from swimming. I usually go at least 3 days a week. I'm not necessarily fast or fit, but swimming has seriously improved my health and I love seeing normal people take advantage of the benefits of swimming. They even have handicap access for individuals needing those services to enter the pool. All in all, I love the RecPlex. I've never taken advantage of the free classes (with membership!) but they're on my list. They also offer bootcamps, specialty classes for Baby Boomers, kids, etc., and childcare if you are interested in any of those services. read more

It sounded like a great place. They made this "gold pass" sound great. They're constantly taking away activities that originally were included. They change availability all the time. Everyone else gets first priority over the actually members. The registration desk has no clue what is going on, what the schedules are and constantly say it's our fault and do nothing about it. Management says there's nothing they can do. They've taken away out door pool admission. There's times when I literally have to walk from city hall.... all of this and I paid up front which means no refund...... I will never be a member again. My review is based on the pool usage. My primary reason for purchasing a membership was for the pool. I would like to participate in triathlons and need a consistent place to swim laps. I visited on a Saturday and was impressed with the facility in general but especially the pool. What I didn't realize is that during the weekdays, several high schools as well as the Lindenwood University swim team and water polo team have privilege to 14 of the 17 swim lanes. It is common to have to share 3 lap lanes with 6 or more adult lap swimmers. The know this is an issue and have chosen to post notices that adults should swim in circles! If you are considering a membership at the rec plex for the pool access, consider carefully! read more

Want to have the worst party ever? Pay for your kids to go to the rec plex. They served us pizza that was delivered on Thursday, shut down a portion of the pool we had stated we planned to use and did not call and notify us or offer to have us refunded. The "party host", Courtney, continually said "whatever", there was hair in his birthday cake, Brian Bacyinski (the rec superintendent) threatened to have me removed when I said a problem. Director, Rick, then complained about having to come in on a saturday for my problem and then told me he'd call me Monday. Someone on your staff threatened me, it needs to be handled now. read more

Just joined again after a few years away. Staff has been really nice but I have a few suggestions. The wifi is spotty at best so I have to use my data to stream music on the track. Also, there's not much for my 10 year old kid to do. He can basically use the pool (when it's open) or play basketball. There is only one exercise class he could attend and he has to be at least 12 to walk the track with me, which is what he'd really like to do. Need more options for that age group. read more
