A C A D E M I C S We were looking for a place that centralized academics in their activities, but in a fun, age-appropriate, low-pressure way. I am pleased with the way Learning Pathways not only covers advanced topics for preschool age, but always maintains a fun and low-stress attitude for the children. Additionally, we are really pleased with the breadth of topics: our child has learned about gravity, reptiles, famous artists, acclaimed musicians, and various cultures (Black History Month, Diwali, etc). This is all on top of the critical English and math, of course. Moreover, we appreciate the 3 assessments Learning Pathways administers to each child throughout the school year (September, December, and one at the end of the year). The assessment shows us exactly what our child knows, is learning, and can learn. We also see concrete improvement in specific areas between her first and second assessment, too! O T H E R S U B J E C T S While academics are important to us, we also really appreciate the educational enrichment. Our daughter is consistently exposured to art and music, and she also participates in a wide variety of athletics/sports. Communication has been exceptional around administrative things. O T H E R This school year (2025-2026), they relaxed their potty training policy while also encouraging independence with potty training. Our daughter made very quick progress in the first month and is now very independent in this area. Thank you! Moreover, there are a few fun performances for the parents around the holidays. So far, those have been for Halloween and Christmas. Thank you, Learning Pathways, for organizing such happy and adorable memories for us! "Goodness Snakes" came to her class this month, and my daughter really enjoyed being up close and even holding (!) some snakes in a safe setting! LP is super good about taking photos of the children. We get photos (and sometimes videos) daily, and they're always a delight. A R E A S T O I M P R O V E We are thrilled with nearly everything about LP, but there are a few areas I think that could be improved: -Please consider healthier snacks. There are some snacks with a high amount of added sugar (e.g. granola bars and dried fruit), and it'd be much more appreciated to only give crackers for meeting the "grains" category of food. -Additionally, please reconsider Swank's Farms for the pumpkin patch field trip. Not only is it about an hour from LP, but it did not rival any of the local pumpkin patches (e.g. in Santa Clara/San Jose area). Moreover, it was a little surprising that there were not any group activities. My husband took a day off for this field trip so we could become more acquainted with other LP families, yet the school did not even take a photo together. We were expecting some sort of organized activity or interaction between the families, but each family was really on their own (just physically in the same space).

Coming from a home-based daycare, the transition was challenging and it took him around two months to adjust. During that period, I had hoped for a little more support from the teachers to make drop-offs smoother. Communication & Feedback: One of my biggest concerns was the limited communication. Updates through the Procare app were infrequent, and direct feedback from teachers was minimal. I wasn't expecting daily notes, but even a short weekly summary about how he was doing--both socially and academically--would have been very valuable. Since the program follows a Montessori style, children are encouraged to choose their own work, which can be great for independent learners. However, for my son, who is quieter and sometimes needs encouragement, I felt he did not receive as much of a gentle nudge as he could have. Many teachers seemed overextended, which may have contributed to this. Safety & Care: There were two instances where my son returned hurt. In one of the instances it was a teacher's direct oversight. What concerned me most was the lack of proactive communication--we only learned about it after asking. For me, this was a significant gap in accountability and transparency. What We Appreciated: - Hot lunch everyday. - Very bright and clean classrooms. I am always greeted warmly by staff and can see that they truly love children and adore them as if they were their own. They capture precious photos to share with parents. I can easily communicate by phone, text, email, or through the ProCare app and receive a quick response. I have visited many sites and decided on this one because the facilities felt comfortable, modern, clean, and spacious. Their tuition is also reasonable for the area. Parking is steps to the classroom and is always available making it convenient and safe. The preschool is located inside next to a church away from any main roads and is gated. My family will miss the CAPS team very much as they are truly a gem. When we did the initial tour, Ms. Rachel and Ms. Laura exuded so much warmth that we immediately felt welcome within the CAPS community. We were so hopeful, but still a little anxious about our son fitting in, so we started with 2 days a week. He immediately took to Ms Nansi in the T-K Tigers classroom. She embraced him with so much love and patience and built that trust with him very early on. He also built a wonderful relationship with his other teacher Ms Emma who was often the one to provide us with his report during pickup. From the first week on, we knew he was in wonderful hands and he began making friends immediately. I think it speaks volumes when your child jumps out of bed with excitement to go to school. 10/10 would recommend Carter Ave!
