This could be considered one of the worst nights out in Amherst! A group of friends and I heard decent things about stackers and decided to take a gander and try it, only to be met with a terrible long line in the freezing weather. Me being the green ninja, I wasn't affected due to my training, but my friends have not trained like me. After waiting for an hour, we got up to the front of the line only to be met with the great devourer! My friend Zane was not allowed in because he had "to much to drink" after only enjoying one ice cold beer (he is the ice ninja) and was fully coherent. Our group waited for over an hour to come into the bar. Once we got to the door the bouncers took one of our buddies aside and said he couldn't come in due to being "too intoxicated" our friend was not drunk and very coherent. Negative star experience. read more

Pretty much empty when there are no college students around, which might be a good thing. Casual (sports) bar, lots of nice TVs for all your football/baseball/whatever craze, but not much else worth noting. Will have to be back for the karaoke and see what happens. read more

Stopped by Stackers to get some UMass Hockey vibes, and cheer on our team for a bit (even though we lost lol). Everyone at the bar was very hyped up and it was pretty crowded, though the bar was pretty big. I saw this girl with a huge tub of a Grateful Dead Cocktail, and so I had to get one for myself. It took me a while to order because there was one server but she was very calm and got drinks done decently well. You had to really shove yourself infront of her to get her attention. Anyways, the cocktail was delicious and I had a pretty good time with the college vibes. Need to come back when its less packed. read more

Same ownership as McMurphy's. More spacious and slightly more upscale than McMurphy's. Staff rotates between McMurph's and Stackers. Sundays are the best here all day. Place opens at 11 and have a great bloody mary bar. Food on Sundays is VERY reasonably priced (ranging from $2-3 for burgers, chicken wings, etc..) Drinks range from three to eight dollars. The eight being their top shelf liquors. This place does get crowded on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights but it is well worth the wait. Do note that the age tends to be younger UMass/Amherst college students. read more

Pretty Okay Came here early like around 7pm on a Friday night so not much of a crowd. Really nice bartender, good conversation, she had suggestions about other bars (I'm new to the area). Wednesday trivia nights have always been a blast until this week when nearly every single question was about 1960's-90's music, TV shows, or movies. There were virtually no questions in other categories and it was no fun at all for the Gen Z crowd they usually cater to. Trivia needs more variety or it gets boring and unentertaining. read more

Stacker's is definitely your college pub. I came here on a Saturday, and it was absolutely crammed with students from UMass Amherst watching a hockey game. It was hard to breathe, hard to order drinks, and someone was touching me at all times. But it was nice to see the camaraderie between students, and to see them get excited while watching sports. But I wouldn't come here to hangout. More of something to do if you're a college kid, or are looking to relive your college days. read more

Great for Sunday football game watch. Came back on Thursday for nfl football and it was pleasant until 9:45. At that time the room became packed with young college kids and the sound level became deafening. Mind you, I'm 25 years older than the average age of the crowd. I tried to watch the game at the bar with many kids leaning over to order pitchers of Rolling Rock (really?! Rolling Rock?!) which they were out of so they would get Bud Light (really?! Bud Light?!); some would order what looked to be a watery Long Island. Bartenders were cool, but I had to take away a star after tonight. When I left, there were about 30 more kids waiting to get in. I will find another place to watch a game at night, but will be there on Sunday. read more

I only come here for their half price wings on Wednesday. 10 wings for 4.25? Can't beat that price although you do have to get a drink, can be soda or alcohol. I usually will get 20 wings and bring the rest home and even with tip added my meal is never over 10 dollars. The service is not good, I've had very rude waitress so it loses a star for that and the place is a bar so it loses another star for that as it can't get pretty chaotic and rowdy. read more

Came here to play trivia. First of all, what absolute shit trivia. Inpersonable, no rhyme or reason. I can download a trivia game on my phone like this and just play at home. I guess I'm just used to solid trivia with the best hosts around. Actual live trivia. As far as the service goes it was sub par. I ordered the ten piece wings on the bone and was given 5 boneless wings. When I told them and they brought me the right order the server had a nasty look on her face. I wasn't impressed, but my friends love it. Waited in line for a good hour on a Friday night (classes start on Tuesday, and a few people are back), so I expected it to be at least a bit special, but the space is small and crowded. People were spilling their drinks over me all night long. I got myself a pitcher of beer, and it was gone while I was distracted for a minute... who would steal somebody's drink? The music is a plus, but I wish they had some sort of a dance floor, or more space, in general, so you can move around. My friends are ages 22-27 (mostly 23-25), and we all thought the crowd was underage with fake ID's, which in fact turned out to be true for quite a few of the kids we met (we visited on Friday, 1.17.14, and Saturday, 1.18.14.) Not only that, but they were all high on molly, extacy, and what not, which was more amusing than anything. Drinks are relatively cheap, but not by much. I like how they have an outside area where people smoke. I would definitely utilize it during the summer (especially since it's so crowded inside). I'd go back there when it's warm out, it's not worth the wait in line in the cold, just to have beer spilled on me while I'm being touched inappropriately because there's no way you can move a foot without being touched and bumped into. Staff is nice! FYI: For out-of-state guests, bring a gazillion forms of picture ID's. (Well, 2 or 3 would be fine, depending on the bouncers hehe) read more

It's impossible to hate on stackers. Cheap decent drinks, conveniently located in Amherst center right next to Antonio's. Yes it is actually the most crowded place on planet earth during the school year Thursday-Saturday but Stackers is the epitome of the UMass bar scene and I wouldn't have it any other way. You can go here almost any night of the week during the school year and it will be packed with Umass students. They have a good selection of beer, with most of the popular seasonal beers as well. Everything is pretty cheap. If you get there around 9 on the weekends you can get a table and an actual glass for your beer instead of having to stand up and drink out of plastic cups. read more

We went during happy hour (4 to 9 P.M.) on Wednesday. The food was inexpensive as they want to drum up alcohol sales. We had 20 wings, two glasses of shock top beer, and a diet coke. All of this was only $15 including a 20% tip. Great way to have an inexpensive dinner on a weeknight. read more

I am horrified by this establishment. First, I saw bartenders reusing pitchers for guests without even washing them. Second, after leaving a bad tip and a note as to why, the bartender ordered the bouncer to kick me out.
