She told me I needed a crown, which I did not. She hit my tooth-nerve, the tech put it in the notes so I found out later but she did not tell me when it happened. The only reason that this practice gets a star is because my dental tech (Sam, I think her name might've been?). She was so friendly and made me feel so welcome - I really appreciated that. The 1 star is for her, and her alone. I had really high hopes for this practice - and it looks like many people end up happy with their care. Personally, I did not. I didn't walk out of my first appointment with much of a desire to return. My primary issues with this practice are: (1) They brushed over one of my main concerns; (2) For a holistic dentist practice, their preliminary recommendations weren't very conservative; and (3) Their receptionists are disorganized and unprofessional. (1) One of my primary concerns was sensitivity that was very clearly coming from the surface of one particular molar. Dr. Ismael said she saw nothing wrong with the molar and that the discomfort was simply referred pain from my closest wisdom tooth. Which would make sense... except for the fact that my wisdom tooth has never caused me any discomfort in my life. Flash forward - two separate dentists confirmed afterwards that my molar was in fact the problem, and one was even able to mitigate the issue with a quick application of a topical product, which further confirms that it wasn't referred pain at all. The dismissal of my concerns left me unimpressed, and made me question the integrity of her other recommendations. (2) I emphasized that I wanted to be as conservative as possible and not extract any unnecessary teeth. That partially informed my decision to see a holistic dentist to begin with. I figured that a practice focused on non-toxic products and holistic healing would also take a conservative approach with dental care and not remove teeth unless absolutely necessary. I also mentioned that I might be interested in orthodontia down the line. I think this was a mistake, because the second I said that, I was told five teeth would absolutely need to come out - four wisdom teeth and a molar. On a second opinion, I was told that two wisdom teeth needed to come out, but that while removing all four was typically recommended, it was not necessary. On a third opinion, I was told the exact same. I recognize that there are differences of professional opinion, and I'm sure Dr. Ismael wasn't pulling her recommendations out of thin air here (and to be completely fair/transparent, she did say an oral surgeon might think differently), but I do think her preliminary insights were cookie-cutter and neglected to take into consideration my own preferences and concerns. I'm grateful that I sought multiple perspectives and am not afraid to advocate for myself, and I encourage you to as well. (3) While I was waiting to check out, the receptionists bickered over who would complete a set of paperwork. One audibly complained about not being able to go on her lunch break as early as she wanted to. They messed up on my paperwork the first time, and despite an empty waiting room, I was made to wait an hour before I could be checked out. I had to ask what the status of my check out paperwork was, otherwise I'd probably STILL be there! I'm patient, but an hour? Overall, not the best environment. I booked an appointment with a different dentist the moment I got in my car. I noticed that Dr. Godes comments on a lot of negative reviews, so in anticipation of that, I want to say this: I stand by everything I've written here, and this is my honest and fair assessment of this practice. I really value holistic practitioners, and they've changed my life in many ways, so I was excited to make an appointment here. But ultimately, I didn't feel that my concerns were addressed, or that there was a good faith attempt to make a minimally invasive recommendation. I was also surprised by the lack of professionalism on the receptionists' part, and that makes me wary to deal with them again re: billing/appointments/etc. To whoever's reading this - I do hope you absolutely love your experience here, but I caution you to get a second opinion. read more

As if I needed any more validation as to whether or not their service & patient interest weren't complete garbage - I have called over recent days/weeks/months trying to ascertain my records only to get the complete run around & never get them. Had my work at Godes's office end of 2019, it is now 2021 (just two years later), and my current dentist is recommending replacement of the work. Research shows that inlays should last anywhere from half a decade to two decades long. Not mine! I brush three times a day and floss twice a day as well. So this is just very disappointing. I used to love this place, I went here for years at the new and old location. However I won't be returning because of a bill I received that wasn't right. I had a problem getting charged with a no show for an appointment that I didn't even schedule. I sucked it up and paid after trying to negotiate. I said I will not be returning and she just said "okay" and hung up. I came to complain, I stayed for the comments... I was looking at the reviews on here and I have to say that Stacy's replies are very unprofessional to those who leave her bad reviews. Attacking a customer by saying they "always have a problem every where they go" and because of that they aren't credible isn't a something you say to someone. Ever. As a customer, first you feel wronged, then you feel put down by a medical professional who acts petty like this. I had to read the reply a couple of times to really believe Stacy would write something like that. This site is where you leave your honest reviews in hope that the establishment will work it out. I have given bad reviews on Yelp too, go look at 'em and tell me I'm not credible either. Another thing that struck me was the fact that Stacy talked about possibly sensitive information since the client (who isn't bound by a privacy contract) went into detail about it. Stacy, even just engaging in the discourse about appointment information and things that were said in a medical setting is not right. Just affirming that the client you saw had a past with cancer and relating that to the private talks you had between the client seems like it's violating something. I'm no expert but it feels wrong how it was worded. You don't run a McDonald's, you run a dentists office and I can see HIPAA breathing down your neck. Even if there were no violations (which I still think there are), it still makes me feel like you will run your mouth to prove a point. How many times a patient canceled last minute, her wanting or not wanting x-rays, your "thorough diagnostic findings" that swayed you to recommend an oral surgeon and how difficult she was being in a medical setting is not for you to vomit out on her to show her you're right. It's an attempt to humiliate your clients. That's what I see here. Won't a "Hello ____, please contact us so we can work this out" suffice? Even if they don't reply or work it out, you look like the professional who made an effort to fix a wrong and not stoop to certain levels like you have. As for your reply to a client on Google Review; There's no "high level of competence" with people who give you good reviews. They just haven't crossed you yet. When they do, they'll see how you handle negative feedback and you'll lose loyalty. Just like how you lost mine. Obviously this place isn't what I thought it was, and Stacy isn't who I thought she is. If you strive for professionalism like you claim you do, I'd suggest you fix your comments instead of digging in someones Yelp profile to gain leverage and sprinkling in snide remarks about how you get what you give; even better, that people "get enjoyment when complaining" about you. I expect a reply half as decent as the others and have very little faith you guys will make this right. read more

Dr. Godes is amazing. Finally a dentist who takes a whole body approach to dentistry. She understands how your teeth connect to other parts of your body and cause a ripple effect. She doesn't use metal in her office, takes extra precautions when removing metals from your mouth and is trained in ozone therapy which is my new favorite thing. I won't get work done in my mouth again without the use of ozone. Dr. Godes recently removed a toxic root canal tooth that had become accessed and infected my jaw bone. I'm excited to see my overall health improve after removing this toxic tooth that my old dentist just told me to re-do the root canal on and slap a new crown on it. Mine wasn't needed, was incorrectly fabricated, caused tremendous pain, permanent nerve damage, and fell out one week later which resulted in even more pain; all of which Dr. Godes was rude about and unsympathetic to. My issues with this office are not directly to any specific treatment done by Dr Godes, but by her hygienists. I was a patient of Dr Blum, who I believe has since retired, but they use the same hygienists . I had my gum pockets measured and was told I had 4.5, and 6 measurements and needed deep cleaning procedures done to prevent gum surgery. Due to other issues with dr Blum ( cavities falling out, bonding chipping, waits of over an hour) I switched dentists. Not discussing my gum pocket measurements, I waited to hear similar results. My pockets are all really 1.2, and maybe 2 were a 3. I was told my gums are heathy and in great shape for my age. The dentist confirmed this with my X-ray as well . Really horrible. All about sales and money in that office!! Get yourself a second opinion before trusting them. So glad I did!! read more

I had some trouble with a molar after my regular dentist drilled and filled it near the base in order to seal a hole and protect the root. I'd had similar fillings in the past, and had no problem with them, but this one was causing pain. A forensic dentist that my husband knows listened to my description and felt I might eventually need a root canal because it sounded like the dentin was damaged. After learning about the potential dangers of root canals and researching the options thoroughly--including finding a dentist in Vienna who says he has a better alternative to the typical screw-in implants--I found Dr. Godes. I chose her instead of dentists with similar qualifications that I found in Irvine, Thousand Oaks, San Diego, Carlsbad, and Temecula (where I live) for a number of reasons. Dr. Godes belongs to both IABDM and the Holistic Dental Association. She is a holistic dentist who offers ozone therapy and avoids amalgam (mercury fillings) and fluoride. Her ratings and reviews on Yelp were much better than those of the other dentists. I compared her pricing on root canals and implants with a few of the other dentists and her pricing was definitely fair. Most important, I gained confidence in her after my first appointment. She recommended doing a step-by-step approach to solve my problem with the tooth, starting with removing the mercury filling. This is something I've always wanted to do, so this approach worked perfectly for me. Hopefully we will be able to save the tooth. I also noticed that she has all the latest equipment for X-rays, cleaning, and all the work she performs. Her office made me realize my other dentist's operation is antiquated. Dr. Godes, Jonathan, Rochelle, Andrea, and Jayna made my experience--the safe removal and replacement of 7 mercury fillings and teeth cleaning--a calm, comfortable, totally painless, and rewarding experience. This was done all in one day by my choice. Dr. Godes and her staff are all so wonderful and supportive and they work together seamlessly! Jonathan, the assistant who went through the whole procedure with me was the best. He's been with Dr. Godes for almost a decade. Rochelle, who works in the front office even recommended a place where I could get an organic smoothie for lunch while the first side of my face recovered from the anesthesia so Dr. Godes could do the other side in the afternoon. The staff and Dr. Godes answered all of my questions both over the phone and in person. And when I got a little nervous in the beginning, Dr. Godes provided ample whiffs of a calming essential oil mixture that really worked to calm me down. She was so patient! Once she got started I realized that although I wouldn't want to have to go through this every day, there was no need to be nervous. It all went smoothly, and I spent almost 4 hours in the chair that day. I love my new metal-free mouth! I feel that Dr. Godes and her staff changed my life. Said i had more cavities than i actually did... told me I had 14 cavities when i only had 6 (according to another dentist that is actually a 5-star and experienced) and messed up my 3D printed fillings she told me we're "better" and "more sustainable" but costed a fortune more than normal fillings. I wish I could put minus five stars. Going to Dr Godes is the worse experience I have ever had with a dentist. First of all, I am a cancer patient, so I wanted to get my root canal removed as holistically as possible. What a joke and a stressful experience. Dr Godes sent me to a oral surgeon who radiated me two times with cat scans, a lot of radiation for a cancer patient, they had to repeat the scan because they did a bad job on the first scan and the scans and appointment cost me almost $500.00 that served no purpose! After receiving a second opinion, I was told the cat scan was not helpful and is known as a money maker. This is why I went to Dr. Godes thinking she was holistic and would not use toxic unnecessary procedures. Also, she replaced a crown that did not fit and left a big gap between the teeth. She did not xray the crown before cementing to make sure it was a proper fit. After researching crowns, I saw that good dentists x ray the crown before cementing to make sure it is a good fit. When I went in for a cleaning a month later, I asked to have the crown checked because when I flossed it shredded the floss on one side, and I could feel the gap between the teeth on the other side. She blamed me for the gap and said it was my grinding and offered no solution for the misfit crown but wanted to fit me for a night guard. I got a second opinion and this is where I found out how useless the cat scan was and how misfitted the crown was. So, I called the office and left a message about my problem and asked for Rochelle to please call me back. I had to call five times and there was always an excuse why Rochelle could not take my call and finally she called back after 3 days. This was so stressful and emotional for me and not supportive for healing the whole body. When she did call on the third day, she was not kind or supportive and again blamed me for grinding and shifting the tooth. The second opinion said the tooth could not shift in one month. Almost 2 months later the crown still hurts, and I can not chew on it. Dr. Godes did offer me a retainer to wear for two weeks to shift the tooth back into place completely ignoring the fact that the crown was misfit and that I was in pain. When I refused the retainer she offered to fix the crown, but I would never step back into that office or trust the work they do. I will take the loss and pay for a new crown. I've never been treated that way from a professional. I still don't know what those cat scans were for. Because of the unprofessional way this was handled with no communication or accountability that sometimes crowns are not fit properly and blaming me, I lost all confidence and refuse to go into that office again. I will pay the cost to have it done correctly and hopefully no one else will have to go through what I felt was abusive and not supportive. Now I am suspicious of their offer of a discount if you pay in cash. Why the incentive for cash?? I have since found a real biological dentist that cares about the whole patient and I will gladly pay her to clean up the misfitted, painful crown. This has really been a lot of stress for a cancer patient. Kindness, compassion and communication goes a long way, but I got none of this from this clinic. If i could give no stars i would. This is one of thee worst dentists you could ever encounter, and I mean that very seriously, she should come with a warning sign "proceed with caution and at your own peril and risk" . I would not recommend Dr Stacy Godes, she is just simply not competent, i had work done on two teeth with her, and have had terrible problems post it, i had no pain before i went to her, and an abundance since she performed her handiwork. I have had to go to specialists to figure out what the hell she did that is causing me so much pain and basically it boils down to she screwed up and did not know what she was doing, she screwed up an inclusion on a crown in an area that she should not have even put a crown in, but it's a money racket and she will put a crown on anything she can get away with, mostly unnecessary crowns, and actually damaging in terms of the area's she will attempt to place one to rack up her fees, as i now have figured out a little to late, and over $3k and counting, later. I would seriously caution anyone looking for a dentist to find another and i would NOT recommend her. If you are looking for a great, actually fantastic dentist, Dr. Steven Jaska is exemplary. He's amazing actually; he was delegated with the dubious undertaking of correcting Dr Godes incompetent and negligent work. I like Dr. Blum, whom is in the same office as Dr. Godes, but she is basically semi-retired, and the staff put you with this Dr. Godes whom is totally incompetent. I was going to report her to the dental board, that is how incompetent and negligent i thought she was and is, but my new dentist ( Dr. Jaska) is trying to undo her incompetence and he is making headway thus i did not report her as i had intended to do so. She and her assistant is rude and only thought it in their best interest to address the screw-up, when they knew, i not only could, but would sue them, and report their behavior to the dental board, but my guess would be if i was not an attorney and they were not apprised of their impending fate, they would have been dismissive and in fact would have referred you out to a specialist of their recommendation to ensure their negligent (you know what) was covered. I was not entertaining their nonsense much less their insipid CYA referrals to cover for her very apparent negligent work. There is a lot of good dentists in the area, and she is not amongst them. In fact I would say, and definitively, she is thee worst dentist I have ever had the misfortune to have been, unknowingly, and unintentionally,( as in i never asked to see her, much less booked an appointment with her, i thought it was Dr. Blum i was seeing), to be placed in her negligent and incompetent care. Beware, is all i would say to any new patients, and do not take her recommendations for anything without a second opinion, or you will end up getting and needing that second opinion anyway, to correct her incompetent, negligent and sometimes as in my case unnecessary work. read more

Dr. Godes is great! I've had some bad experiences with dentists since I was a kid so I tend to put off dental visits as much as possible. I also have TMJ so having my mouth open for dental procedures is pretty painful for me. Pair those two variables and you end up with someone who is extremely aversive to going to the dentist. Dr. Godes is the first dentist who has made me feel comfortable. She is an incredibly kind human being and you can tell that she knows her stuff. I feel very confident in her care. I had been looking for a new dentist in town for quite awhile as my last dentist was more interested in going to golf than work on my teeth properly, much less care about my well being. My mother was in town last year and needed some important work done on her teeth and she really wanted someone who was Holistic and had a mercury free environment- and she came across Dr. Godes and was elated. Dr. Godes treated not only my mom, but my father as well. They both had more issues with their teeth than they knew and she took amazing care of them. All I needed at the time was a cleaning, but I know that I'll be going back for any and all of my dentistry needs. The staff is amazing and everyone there has a genuine smile on their face, not only because they love their jobs- but because they all care for the people that come in for any and all treatments. It's very comforting to know that I have a dentist now that I can trust and who is genuinely concerned for my overall well being.
