***POTENTIAL PATIENTS BEWARE!!!*** I came in here a few years ago and at first my experience was good. When it turned out that I needed an extraction of one of my teeth, Dr. Tuchin attempted to do so only to watch my tooth crumble. Dr. Tuchin preceded to whack away at my head with a hammer and chisel. I am not joking, he literally did this. When he was unable to completely remove the tooth he told me that eventually it would fall out by itself (and still charged me full price). It was easily the worst dental experience of my entire lifetime and I would strongly recommend that anybody in their right mind stay as far from this man as humanly possible. I just went to a new dentist and they told me that there is no way on Earth that this remaining tooth portion would have ever fallen out by itself and that no dentist would ever truthfully assert such a thing. Dr. Tuchin also did work on me prior to checking with my insurance to make sure it was covered. I assumed that it was and had the work done. Only later on when he billed me for the entire procedure did I find out the truth (that it was in fact not covered at all). This was a financial hardship for me and I still really can't believe it even happened in this day and age. It is my belief that this gentleman should have retired many years ago and is probably undergoing issues with senility. Seriously, I am not sure why he is still in business. Maybe he's okay working on senior citizens that occasionally need a cleaning, but if he's actually challenged to do any real dentistry (that might require knowledge above the most fundamental skill set), he is totally out of his league! I honestly think he should consider quitting now before he really hurts somebody! Addendum: In response to the recent posting by Mort S Tuchin; You are absolutely ridiculous! Clearly you have been the victim of a rather extreme case of senility! I have the documentation to prove all of my allegations and frankly, you're lucky that I didn't sue your pants off. As far as I'm concerned, anybody that walks through of your office is taking their life in their hands. You are an aging has-been at best and a sadistic monster at worst. You should retire immediately and save the rest of the world from what you did to me! Super Honest and Very Experienced! I recently got insurance through Delta Dental and went to see my assigned HMO dentist. He quoted me almost $900 for a crown. I went to Dr. Tuchin for a second opinion. He only charged me $21 for an xray on the subject tooth, and said he didn't think I needed a crown at all. I wish Dr. Tuchin were my HMO dentist, but unfortunately he is not on my plan. Dr. Tuchin is super experienced and very friendly. My mom is the one who referred me, and she loves him! The office is no frills, but the service is top notch! I highly recommend this dentist and will go back to him even though he is not on my plan. read more

Dr. Tuchin is a nice enough dentist, have been going for years. However, his staff is not, and actually insulting to my wife and daughter when, by their own mistake, failed to verify my insurance. When I called my insurance they immediately verified coverage. A mistake is fine and forgivable, the attitude is not. That's fine, I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

My family has been going to see Dr Tuchin for 7 years now. He is very professional and honest! Never told us to get an extra feeling that we didn't need, always tells us we do a good job flossing :) He has a flyer in his office "we will only sell you the services you actually need" and I think this is the best description for his practice. Dr. Touchin is the most humble, honest doctor I have ever come by and his assistant, Deborah, is also one of a kind. They truly care for each one of their patient's health. My wife has been going to him for years and is willing to pay out of pocket despite that we were insured and could have gone elsewhere. She has recieved much care from him and he was always quick to reply back and get her scheduled in quickly when needed. I made the mistake of trying another clinic for my cleaning and exam. They informed me I needed 9 cavities filled and a crown despite I had zero cavities the last time I saw Tuchin 3 years prior. I went to get a second opinion from him, in which I found out with much relief that I had zero cavities. NONE!!! I was in disbelief, shock! . So much so that I asked him to check a second time and he also went over my x-rays again with me as well. Again, nothing! I've been a patient of Dr. Tuchin for a number of years. The biggest thing I appreciate about him is he does not push unnecessary procedures or try to milk your insurance or wallet like many dentists try to do these days. If he says you need a procedure, you can bank on the fact that you really do. His office doesn't have a lot of the latest fancy equipment or furnishings, but he is well-schooled (UCLA, I believe), very experienced and takes his time to do things correctly. I consider him "old school" in that he seems to take pride in his work and doesn't just see you as a $ sign. read more

My wife went to this dentist, not only the receptionist was very unprofessional, she is also rude ( hang up on us while Dr made a mistake ) although Dr. Tuchin is a nice dentist, he is not very skillful, my wife has a filling that needed to be done, they did not do the filling right the first time so my wife has to go in for a second time filling, after the 2nd filling, she still has issue with her tooth, they put her on penicillin, and said it's root infection, after a week of penicillin, she still has pain and went to another dentist to have a 2nd opinion, they found out that Dr. Tuchin messed up the 1st filling and drill too deep, he also put the filling around her nerve ending, which is the reason why her tooth is hurting badly, she called in and the receptionist said it was her fault and started to yell at her and hang up on her, what kind of staff does Dr. Tuchin has? my wife is so disappointed because she is pregnant and can not have this constant anesthesia done, but she has to get it done cause now she need a root plannig on top of it due to Dr. Tuchin's mistake. Finally found my home. Really been struggling to find a good dentist for years. One who doesn't want to push stuff on you you don't need. Previous dentist wanted all kinds of x-rays, new crown, etc. Dr Tuchin was able to identify visually what the others seem to need expensive equipment to do. I guess when you've been around this long you've seen a few things. From the moment I walked in through the entire process, I felt at home. Dr. Tuchin is the best! In recent years I have been searching for a dentist to replace my previous dentist who was fantastic but retired about 5 years ago. I've been through at least 6 dentist who either tried to run up the bill, gouged me with ridiculous prices and services or were just impersonal. He took me In right away and was a very kind, courteous, and professional person who really cared about helping me feel better. He's outstanding and very knowledgeable. Dr. Tuchin is a terrific dentist. He personally cleans your teeth and I can feel such a difference afterwards which isn't always the case elsewhere. He is friendly, caring and professional. He takes care of the teeth you have without upselling procedures that you neither want or need. I trust him completely. My husband is also his patient and is equally happy to have Dr. Tuchin as his dentist. He has required more dental work than I and has been very pleased with the work received. He has also used Dr. Tuchin as a second opinion when other procedures were recommended by an oral surgeon. Dr. Tuchin is thorough but when he doesn't believe a procedure is necessary he says so. Dr. Tuchin is a good Dentist. But his staff are very rude. Simple requests like cost of operation is not communicated well by his staff. They have too much attitude problems. Do not treat customers with dignity. Though the doctor is good, I wouldnt want to go there again. read more

I am one of the million Americans that is scared to death of the dentist. I will put it off for as long as i can, but the only problem with that is I have ended up with 3 cavities. I looked around and tried cleaning's from 2 different dentist, but left both of them wanting to cry and feeling like my mouth had been torn to pieces. I was left even more scared and baffled as to how I was going to get my cavities filled. A family friend refereed Dr. Tuchin and after seeing the very reasonable prices on top of that I decided to give him a try. I found exactly what I needed, a family dentist willing to put the time, patience, and love it takes to make sure you are a happy patient. I have never left a dentist office saying "WOW I am not scared to go back!!" Everything was relaxed and pleasant from the numbing shots to the drilling to the filling and the cleaning. I know you are wondering how can these things be considered pleasant, but they were. Normally i wince with pain and can not wait to get out of the seat. But not this time. Dr. Tuchin knew exactly what he was doing, and does it with a very gentle hand which is just what I needed. Dr. Tuchin was not out to sell me extra things that were not needed or necessary! Been going for a couple of years now and have always had a positive experience. That's saying a lot for a dentist! Right?! Hehe. No, seriously. Great knowledgeable guy that I'd recommend. I'm personally not a big fan of some of these other types of mega dentist operations with big fancy offices. I don't need a flat screen to watch with an ocean view. A bit of an exaggeration, but I know there are out there. These types of places seem to push pricey cosmetic dentistry on you. This place isn't like that at all. Dr. Mort Tuchin is a fabulous dentist and a very nice person. He's friendly, calming (if you are nervous) and very knowledgeable. I trust his knowledge and his reasonable course of treatment. I'm so tired of the hard sell dentist. He only does what you NEED. He can provide all services, but he doesn't push them. Not everyone needs, wants or can afford veneers!
