I wandered in, and tried on about 6 pairs before I found some I liked. The fitting room experience was easy, but they weren't well monitored as they were full of clothing others had left behind. Apart from that, the store seemed organized fairly well. I also did a return a few days later, which went quick and smooth. As I checked out, the staff member at the register scanned a coupon for me, discounting over $20 off my jeans that I didn't anticipate. That was a nice surprise! They had remodeled since my last visit here (like I said, many years ago) and it felt like a TJ Maxx or Marshall's experience. Random junk to buy in the checkout line, they call your number to a register up front when available.... Anyway. It was an overall nice and easy experience, and I happily found what I needed.

One such person has been Chris Anderson, a manager at the Costco Warehouse located in Manteca. I had a situation with a company that provides a service for Costco members; but isn't exactly under the "umbrella" of Costco. They are a separate entity; however, I believed because of this association with Costco, the way in which they conducted their business would eventually, if not already, tarnish Costco's great reputation and bring a negative light to them. So, I felt the need to bring this to the attention of Costco! I had the pleasure of speaking to Chris Anderson on the phone regarding my concern. I explained to him the error that was made to numerous customers of this company within California and I also informed him that although I called the Manteca warehouse, I actually lived in Tracy. This did not seem to concern him, and he offered to check into it on my behalf and to expedite a return call back from the company. Mr. Anderson could have very easily have told me that "there was nothing he could do", but he didn't. He was true to his word and actually checked back in with me a couple days later to confirm that I had received a call back. Mr. Anderson made me feel like I was a valued customer of Costco and noted the importance of this company to also act accordingly because of the relationship with Costco. Although I am sure he was busy on both occasions, (there was a second incident that this company made an error within less than a months' time and I called Mr. Anderson a second time). Each time he listened to me and gave me the time to provide the details and how it impacted me. I truly believe that this is why he is a manager for Costco and I consider him an asset to them. I believe that this is a great example of "going the extra mile" and wish that this was seen more often!

When I first walked into the store to go to the Membership Desk, it was already a circus. I asked about a walkthrough and got "We don't do that any more." I reluctantly bought the membership and after one year, did not renew. It must have been a mutual agreement because they were sending notices to former tenants at my address, but not to me. 11 years later, I went with some neighbors. The store is better. It's not nearly as chaotic. The neighbors know most everyone working at the store from the store manager to the people demonstrating the food. It's not awful and it's not great, either. The store has a more diverse selection of foods. However, they seem to take away items randomly. The electronics seem as mediocre as they used to be. The self-checkouts are back. Prices are as high as expected to support returns AND to support good pay for workers. I'm glad for all who enjoy it.

"Do you work here? I'm trying to find..." and she was annoyed, as if I'm supposed to know that she works there. She looked in a direction and said "they're over there." That's better than nothing. I found what I needed to buy and got some other things. The amazing thing about this store is that it is organized. If you go to Westgate Mall in Saratoga or Great Mall in Milpitas, you'll know what I mean. You'll be lucky to find anything because you have to watch for clothes on the floor. Hopefully, that means that sleeves aren't different lengths and they just couldn't afford labels. They seemed to have decent clothes and if you're not worried about designer labels, you'll be fine. I limited my visit to the men's area. People working there seemed friendly and observant. It's always good in retail to let everyone know that you see them and that you're watching.

He poked his thigh while putting on the pants and it left a mark and pain. We brought it to the employees attention and they were very non chalant about it, saying it happens from time to time from people trying to steal clothes and remove the security tags. It was disappointing. They didn't fill out an injury report or even give us any sort of discount after he was injured. It literally looked like a needle sticking out in the pants. It really could be a health hazard. So while the prices are low and affordable here, I would suggest shopping elsewhere because there's no reason your safety shouldn't be a priority at a store.
