Excellent pizza, fantastic atmosphere, and delightful service. These three are a winning combination! The pizza has a thin, cracker crust, topped with a flavorful sauce. Toppings are added to fill the whole pizza, and are delicious! (If you like sausage on your pizza, this is the place to go!) I have been on just about every night of the week and it is always an entertaining time. Whether it's music over the sound system, the owner (yes! The owner!) engaging in conversation, or live entertainment, the shop is filled with good vibes. Saturday nights are especially entertaining. Columbus and the surrounding communities have incredibly talented musicians. More than likely, you can watch and listen here some Saturday night. As to the service, I have been waited on or helped by a handful of employees - ALL of them work hard and are a joy to conversate with. (The owner taking the time for a short conversation was such a nice touch.) Lastly, over the past year or two, the beer selection has grown. Probably closer to 4.5 stars. Great local pizza place. Sauce is on the sweet side and the ingredients are fresh. Thin crust and edge to edge toppings with a square tavern cut. Sometimes the pies are a little over-cooked for me with the edges of the crust drying out, but that's a minor issue. Friendly people and live music. A solid choice for pizza night. read more

The pizza was fantastic. The way they cook a little longer made it perfect. The only reason I gave a 4 star was because they use waitresses that really aren't the most attentive. So you feel obligated to tip for service that really isn't needed. We have been on a quest to try different pizza places around the east side and after reading reviews on YELP, we chose Stadz. All I can say about Stadz is OH-MY-MY!!! This place was wonderful! (We got our pizza to go so I can't attest for the inside of the place). We ordered a small veggie pizza, a large pepperoni w/extra cheese and an order of cheese garlic bread. The crust was exactly how others described it: a nice thin crust with a nice crunch. The toppings were plentiful! And as good as that was, my favorite was the tomato sauce. The tomato sauce! Who says that! This chicka does!!! I will say that I think it's the best sauce I've ever tasted. It wasn't spicy and it wasn't too sweet. About in the middle. But the best part about it was it had a nice strong tomato flavor with tomato chunks! Next time we order the cheese bread I'm going to order two extra sides of that sauce. It was THAT good! I rarely give five stars but this place definitely deserved it. We can't wait to order again from them again! read more

Found this place by accident driving around for work, and decided to come here with the wife, and wow, amazing! Its usually hard to go to local places that have been there forever, as usually unless your one of their locals or regulars that have come in for years, you get service like you don't belong, and they focus on the regulars. Not here, we were welcomed with open arms (ok, maybe didn't see open arms) but felt great. I found this place after seeing online that Columbus has their own style of pizza. I guess their pizza fits the bill; cracker thin crust with toppings flowing to the edge. I ordered a large with pepperoni for myself! In all honesty, it was exactly like a thin crust pizza from Pizza Hut, but with 5 times the pepperoni. Cha-Ching! Good news is I like Pizza Hut thin crust pizza so I'm not complaining one bit! I ended up eating a third of it in one sitting and finished another third for dinner. I've driven by this place tons of times but never thought anything of it until I read the glowing Yelp reviews. I don't crave pizza nor do I trek cross country to find the perfect pie. Having said that, I stopped here out of genuine curiosity. The exterior suggests fly by night and I half expected an illegal gambling operation in the back room. The place is a no frills pizza joint. It's clean, has ample seating and a tv showing the best that NCAA had to offer. There is a guy behind the counter (assuming the owner) who could come across as rough and even possibly rude (as one reviewer wrote) but after hearing things like "your pie the pep and fungus?" and "hell, did you call from the parking lot cause the pizza just went in the oven!" in his jovial tone let you know the first impressions are way wrong. The warmth of the place shined when we heard the staff addressing most everyone by name when they came in. He engaged everyone in useful conversation, expressed true dismay that Duke was losing to NC, and expressed true interest and respect for his regulars. What a neat little shop! And to the reason why I came... Remembering I'm not a pizza connoisseur, I am going to say that it was damn good. Seriously good sauce, the crust had a refreshingly thin and crispy quality and it was not overloaded with cheese. Their menu includes usual pizza joint items (subs and salads). Simple, good food. Couple that with pretty awesome service and I could see myself coming back just to kick back, strike up a conversation with the friendly staff or other fellow patrons and throw down some p'za. I must've driven past this place a thousand times, and never noticed its existence. Thanks to Yelp, it was this week's Tuesday night pizza. The Big Cheese sits back off of Taylor Road a bit. I saw it right as I was passing it. One illegal U-Turn later, and I was inside the place. TBC has a nice, clean dine-in area, which was empty at the time. I do not believe that alcohol is an option, but I was on the run from the law at this point, so I didn't linger to ask. TBC serves up a traditional Ohio pie, with thin, crackery crust and square cut pieces. While not my style, the crust was actually quite good. Unlike most thin crusts in the area, this one almost appeared to have been freshly rolled (rather than like a stiff, uniform piece of cardboard out of the freezer). The result was a lighter, airier, flakier crust with some contour. The toppings were decent as well. The peps were slightly thicker cut, for a meatier taste and the fresh mushrooms were very thinly shaved (I love that - it really helps release the flavor). The sauce had just a great, tart, fresh tomato taste. Ratios were perfect. My one knock on TBC is that pizzas only come in small (11 inch) or large (15 inch). I erred on the side of small (which we completely finished) as I was also firing up 4 meatballs. The meatballs were very herby, in a good way. They were a decent size and easy to fork through. The sauce, again, was on the tart, not sweet, side of the spectrum. All in all, if you live in the area, this is a great pizza to try. Much better (and less expensive) than the chains. We got out of there with pizza and meatballs for under $15. Oh, and there are apparently no traffic cameras in the area - a real bonus! read more

My favorite local pizza hands down. The guy behind the counter is the owner, sauce maker, sausage maker, crust maker, oven monitor, and order taker. He is the salt of the earth and cares about every pie he puts in your hands. Can he be "gruff"", as a few reviews have claimed? Sure, perhaps, but I want my pizza guy to have the same attitude my doctor has. Complete confidence in his abilities. I find it comforting. They opened shop in an old cinder block building, it's family run and consistent. It's consistent because this same man does everything his way everyday. It's a thin crust, it's a fresh sauce. I would guess the sauce makes it or breaks it for people. I've never had a sauce like it and I think it's the best I've ever had, but of course that's just personal taste. His sausage is mild and fresh and ground in house. It's just good pizza. In a sea of commercial chain pizza places the big cheese stands out as something different and special. Oh how I love The Big Cheese. It may be in the middle of nowhere, and it certainly doesn't look like much, but slice for slice, The Big Cheese is very nearly my favorite pizza in Columbus. The sauce is just the right amount of sweet and savory, and even though I swear I taste a hint of beer in it the owner says it isn't in there. The crust is buttery, thin and crunchy and always perfectly done. The cheese is added in just the right amount and any toppings always taste fresh. The best part about the place is the man who owns it, who will cater to nearly any request and who is on a first name basis with all his patrons. When we call in with our pizza (light pepperoni, light banana peppers, one corner cheese only) he knows us by name and even remembers why we get one corner plain. They also carry chips and cans and bottles of soda. The salads are really good here too, and come with lettuce, tomatoes, radishes, onion, cheese and a few pepperoni. The Italian dressing is fantastic so that would be my recommendation as well. If you live anywhere near the Gahanna/Blacklick area, Big Cheese is definitely worth a try! read more

Everyone seemed to know each other...and know the staff. I felt a bit awkward when walking in. Like I didn't belong...it's strange trying to describe. The service was okay I guess. They give you little tiny paper plates to eat off of...again, hole in the wall. I dunno, since I'm in Westerville and Blacklick is kinda out of the way, I doubt I'll be back. People kept talking up The Big Cheese so I had to try it. Set next to an industrial park, at first glance, it looks like a hole in the wall. But what redeems this place is the food and service. Expect simple straight forward no frills menu. We ordered salad, pizza, and garlic cheese bread. The salads were generous, fresh, and hit the spot. The garlic cheese bread was the perfect accompaniment to the salads. Crisp, warm, and not drenched in grease. Yum! What makes this place so special is the pie. The sauce they use is amazing. Not overly spicy and a nice sweet taste. Loved it. The crust is very thin. But it works well to let the sauce and toppings shine through. I'll definitely be back again. read more

When this place first opened up, my boss bought pizza for everyone to try. And we ALL loved it. There was just something about it. I don't know if it was the sauce or what, but we definitely kept going back for more! Now that the business has been open awhile, something about the pizza has changed, and not for the better. It is certainly not as cheesy. When this pizza joint first opened, they 100% lived up to their name. The pizza was nice and cheesy. The sauce was tasty. The dough was fresh. Now, all the pizzazz is gone. The amount of cheese on the pizza has nearly been cut in half AND the dough just isn't the same. I don't know if they stopped making it fresh in house or what's going on but they need to go back to what made them popular in the 1st place. We hardly ever order from here at work any more due to all the changes in the pizza and it's a shame because we were so in love with their deliciousness! read more

Super thin cracker crust, excellent! The sauce was good, seemed to be house made. This place is off the beaten path. Funny thing about the location is it was an auto body shop for many years and I worked there. The pizza prep area was my repair area and the dining room was our paint booth. I'm a big fan of The Big Cheese. The "All the Way" pizza was my first go at it, and it was a bit daunting! These guys aren't clowning around with toppings! Loads and loads- including jalapenos! Ordering your pizza "to go" is okay, but I really like staying and eating in at The Big Cheese. The interior is no frills, but I'm not there for the red carpe treatmentt, I'm there for the pizza and homey atmosphere. I like the self-serve cooler with cans of pop (or do you call them soda?), and I like feeling comfortable with the knowledge that if I eat too much and have to secretly pop open the top button of my jeans, no one is going to sneer at me. I also really like the guy behind the counter. Yes, he's got a big personality, but he's also very nice and he truly wants you to enjoy yourself and his amazing pizza. I admire small business owners this day in age. I've walked in and had him remember me and ask how I am. That doesn't happen at Donatos. Oh, and to previous poster who sold out his girlfriend's late-night cold pizza eating-- you should have gotten to the fridge faster. ;) read more

I would give This place a 3.5 if there was an option. This was my first time ordering pizza from there and asked for my pizza cooked well done. The guy on the phone said their pizzas are always cooked this way and assured me it would be well done .... well it wasn't , which was very disappointing. The flavor of the pizza was great.
