    Hojicha latte

Really enjoyed the specialty lattes here, with creative latte art :) The drinks menu is large- there is different something for everyone. The lox bagel was also nicely done, made with Montréal bagel. There are a few other breakfast/brunch items, as well as, pastries/sweets. Really cozy space for relaxing and catching up with friends. There is a seating limit of 75 mins... I guess it applies on crazy busy hours :p Service felt a bit abrupt... perhaps staff was having a bad day *shrugs*

Went on a busy weekday morning. Nice latte with great service. A little noisy though. Not that easy to chat with others, as in the morning is usually crowded. Still recommended because both the drinks and service are great.

Stae is a little cafe up on Copper Creek. It's relaxing, lovely, and VERY busy. One thing to note is that they're not like a restaurant where you get seated. It is very much a cafe where you grab your own seat and during peak hours, it's very hard to do that. Fortunately, they've also implemented a 75 min seating limit which helps. Stae specializes in beverages, but they also serve some brunch items and pastries. For autumn, they had a seasonal menu so I went with their Corn Hojicha Latte. As someone who loves Chinese corn drinks, I was a little sad it wasn't more corny. But the Hojicha was nice and roasty. As for brunch, my friends and I tried the Poke Toast and the Spicy Eggplant Sammy. Both were very good! The Eggplant Sammy had good portions and was quite the comfort food. The Poke Toast was bright and flavourful and I liked the jammy egg they added. My biggest regret is forgetting to grab a cookie to-go. Their cookies look bomb, with huge chocolate chunks and a chewy texture. Hoping to comment on that next time!

Small and cozy cafe with some premium coffee, and tea offerings. They also have a seasonal menu for drinks. They also serve food. Hojicha Latte - Good roasted tea flavour and balanced with milk. Tea did settle pretty quickly, so got to keep mixing or drink it quick. Corn Hojicha Latte - Added corn flavour to the hojicha. The added syrup helped reduce the settling as well. Fun to try. Will have to come by and try their food menu.

Still one of my favourite cafes in Markham! I don't often get the chance to stop by this area, but whenever I do, I try to pop by Stae Cafe for one of their gorgeous & delicious lattes. The latte art here is incredible. They also have a wide variety of lattes from espresso-based lattes (e.g., regular, Spanish) to tea lattes (hojicha, 3 types of matcha lattes, butterfly pea). It's a perfect spot to chill, chat, or do some light work. The cafe can get quite busy though and finding parking can be tricky, but they have a 75min seating time limit to allow more customers to enjoy the space.

Finally had a chance to try this cafe. Lovely little spot located in the Copper Creek neighbourhood. The cafe is nice and warm and very welcoming. Drinks are smooth and sweetened just enough. I ordered the Spanish latte and it was really nice with the cinnamon coming through and condensed milk to making it creamy. The Stae Bagel was also delicious, all the flavours balanced quite beautifully. The food is a bit pricey for what it is, but its a nice treat once in a while.

Hands down one of my absolute favourite local coffee shop in Markham beautiful shop and ambience with relaxing music I love their pour over options and staff are usually great with their recommendations. Their lattes are also amazing esp Spanish, lavender oat and London fog - they have lactose free milk options too :) They also have a nice brunch menu too. Stae bagel and poke toast are my favourites! Bonus - for moms: they have high chairs AND a diaper change table in their washroom!

I'm back at Stae Cafe! It really never disappoints. I love it here. The people here are super friendly. Their drink selections are always on point and they keep updating them! That's what makes me coming back. The interior is stunning and so vibey. I just love it here as a "second" office.

A small Asian inspired cafe with seating for 20 max located near 9th line. They have a menu that changes by season. I tried the black sesame French toast. Imagine my shock when it came it was one slice of toast divided in half. Came with sprinkles of dehydrated banana and maybe ? one full raspberry. Now I'm all for the artistic vision but this was really mid in my opinion. How are you going to charge $15 for one slice of bread, I know times are tough but dang. On top of that, the black sesame filling was so light I could barely taste it. I would never order this again as if I did I will consider that as robbing myself. Rating: 4/10 Stae Bagel: 8/10. This bagel was really delicious and packed with veggies and smoked salmon. I would definitely order it again. Additionally, the table next to me complained the pork meat on the sandwich they ordered wasn't cooked properly so that was not a vibe. All in all I would be back to try other things because the menu is interesting. But don't expect to leave here being full as it's a cafe more for drinks.

A cute cafe that is all the vibes with delicious drinks. Came for a weekend work session with some friends and it was busy in the morning before noon! There's also not a lot of outlets other than at the high top area, so keep that in mind if you're planning to work here all day, your laptop may run out of battery. Got the matcha latte which was great! Good matcha taste and had a beautiful green colour. Ube latte was also delicious and had a beautiful purple colour. We also got a french toast item to share, which wasn't that great so can probably pass on that. However, I'm interested to try their other food items in the future as it looks amzing!

We love dining at Stae Cafe when we are in the area. They have a good selection of breakfast options as well as different drinks. On our most recent visit I tried their new iced strawberry matcha latte as well the strawberry matcha French toast. Both were delicious. My husband had the smoked salmon bagel and he really enjoyed that as well. Seating is a bit limited so if you come during peak hours expect a wait or might need to take out the food instead. Some tips - You can collect points and earn free baked goods, coffee, etc. They also have high chairs for little ones.

Happy Three Years! Definitely my go to coffee shop in the neighbourhood. Love their seasonal menu but can't go wrong with a basic latte :)

Nice little cafe, but seating space is limited. They can accommodate maybe 20 people sitting down in groups of 2-4 each. Service is decent and the washroom is very clean. Coffee was good, Spanish latte is light, a little sweet and not dulled by the milk. Steak banh mi was good. It had a nice acidity flavour with the steak and veggies. Bun was on a 3/10 toast level so mostly soft with a nice chew. Was maybe a little too much garlic aioli for me, but more sauce is rarely ever complained about. Flavour was nice but something texturally inside was gritty for me. Not sure if it was the pate or the garlic aioli, but still overall a good sandwich. Longanisa sandwich was pretty textbook. Soft bun, Longanisa sausage and an egg loaf. I just wish they would have thrown a little twist on it by adding a vinegar dressing or something acidic to balance out the flavour. Decent sandwich but didn't have anything special about it. Overall worth trying. Worth sitting in if there's space. Vibe gives very modern cafe with a bright atmosphere.

Service was superb with very friendly servers - so friendly that even my toddler with stranger anxiety liked them and engaged with them! Atmosphere and view were great since it was sitting on Toogood Pond. Inside was really cute too. Tables, chairs, and even the booster were clean. Zero complaints! The only thing is the washroom is the public park washroom so it's not the prettiest and cleanest; there were some bugs and some smell. In terms of the menu, there aren't a lot of choices for pasta but it makes sense since it is a bistro. Ordered the Mortadella & Burrata and Tagliatelle al Ragu. Both were really delicious and the pasta tasted fresh even though we don't know if it's fresh pasta. Had a really good experience here and would definitely come back! This spot is perfect for date nights since there are many small tables and the vibe is just a date night vibe!

There are restaurants that earn their success through great food, relentless hospitality, and years…read moreof hard work. And then there are restaurants that win the geographic lottery. La Fonte sits on one of the most enviable pieces of restaurant real estate in Unionville. Perched beside Toogood Pond, with a patio facing west, it offers the kind of sunset view that would make a mediocre sandwich taste profound. If you're taking an evening stroll around the pond, there is essentially one place to stop, sit, sip a cappuccino, and watch the day disappear. La Fonte knows this. And perhaps that's the problem. On a cool evening, we approached the mostly empty patio with modest ambitions. No elaborate dinner. No special requests. Just coffee, a couple of treats, and a front-row seat to one of the best sunsets in Markham. The greeting? "Do you have a reservation?" No. Reasonable question. What followed was less reasonable. Instead of the traditional hospitality playbook--"Welcome, let me see what I can do"--we were informed they were busy - did I mention the empty patio? And immediately questioned about whether we intended to order food - what does what we intend to order matter if a seat can be made available? We did say we would like a seat on the deck/patio. We explained that it was our first visit and, not being blessed with psychic powers, we had no idea what they served. Snarky attitude in check - with pleasantries exiting the oral interface. A menu was handed to us and we were instructed to step aside and review it. Step aside....???!!!??? As if there were crowds of eager diners stacked ten deep behind us... There was nobody. Not a single soul waiting for a table. No line. No rush. No visible crisis requiring crowd-control measures. Just an oddly defensive interaction taking place on a mostly empty patio overlooking a beautiful pond. The conversation somehow became more absurd from there. Every answer seemed to generate another hurdle, another question, another subtle suggestion that perhaps our presence was creating administrative difficulties. Eventually, we did what any rational person does when hospitality turns into a bureaucratic exercise: we left. The funny part came later. Walking around to the opposite side of Toogood Pond, we could clearly see people casually strolling onto the patio and taking seats. No interrogation. No menu review committee. No apparent examination of intent. Just people walking on past the gatekeeper and sitting down. Which naturally raises the question: Is the secret to dining at La Fonte simply to ignore the front-of-house operation altogether? Not that we'd ever do that. Most of us were raised to believe civility matters. You wait to be seated. You speak politely. You respect the establishment's process. But La Fonte provided a fascinating case study in how that social contract can break down. Because when courtesy is met with indifference, and curiosity is met with suspicion, one begins to wonder whether good manners are simply putting oneself at a competitive disadvantage. The tragedy is that none of this has anything to do with the food. The kitchen may be wonderful. The coffee may be excellent. The patio is unquestionably spectacular. The problem is that the first course served at any restaurant isn't food. It's hospitality. Perhaps what seems to be nepotism at the gates is not the best hiring practice. And on this evening, La Fonte managed to take one of the most beautiful dining locations in Unionville and make it feel strangely unwelcome. That's a remarkable achievement, though probably not the one they were aiming for. Carpe diem, indeed. Just don't expect anyone at the front door to help you seize it. JEERS!!!

A Hidden Gem with NYC Vibes & Central Perk Charm!…read more Took my bestie to Ravine Cafe today for bunch to celebrate her birthday, and we are still buzzing. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere hit that perfect sweet spot, that classy but cozy, with a definite New York City energy. Think lots natural light with big windows, warm and welcoming lighting, and that effortless "cool" that made us feel like we have stepped into Central Perk. Only things missing is the big orange couch and the oversized coffee mugs. The menu? Bougie without the sting. We both had the eggs Benny, while mine was the Cajun shrimp (unique and flavourful), hers was the classic bacon Benny. They were both beautifully plated, yet surprisingly reasonable for the quality. What really sealed it was the service. Staff was attentive and smiley, but the owner stole the show, came by, chatted for a solid 15 minutes, and shared the restaurant's backstory. Felt like old-school hospitality, not rushed commercially influenced like most of the commercial restaurants in the area. Perfect for a brunch gathering, a date, or just pretending you are in a rom-com. We will for sure be back, and with more friends. Thank you for the great service and amazing food!

They have a sign outside promoting the first 3 customers get dessert/bagel/croissant, but don't honour it. I was first in the store, not because I was trying to get the promo, but the lady behind me came actively trying to get the promo. Instead of the items promised, and only after asking, they reluctantly handed us panda keychains. The lady asked again for the promo after she got her order and they told her that they weren't giving the food items because keychains are more useful. She then asked them to remove the sign for false advertising, they (angrily) said they would, yet the sign continues to be outside half an hour later. You really shouldn't be making promises you can't keep, and getting upset at your customers for it. Please consider removing this false advertising sign and just letting your cafe and food speak for itself. If it wasn't for this, this cafe would be 4 or 5 stars, but the fake promo and dishonesty has really soured my experience here.

You pass through a charming patio to enter, which was shaded nicely thanks to the size of the Shoppers building. Given the recent heatwave, we opted to sit indoors. We were greeted at the door and offered the choice between a two-person table tucked farther inside or a four-person table closer to other diners. We chose the smaller table for a bit more privacy and ease of conversation. Menus were provided right away, followed shortly by tap water. When our server checked in to ask about drinks, we let her know we were fine with just water. Later, when we were ready to order, she came promptly when we called her over. A standout moment: we ordered just one smoothie, and she kindly asked if we were sharing, then offered to split it into two cups without us even asking. A thoughtful and appreciated gesture. The Pineapple Banana Smoothie was a highlight. It was perfectly balanced between sweet and tart, and incredibly refreshing. My sister ordered the Halloumi Benedict. She noted that while the waffles leaned toward a sweeter flavor on their own, the combination of waffle, egg, and halloumi was well-balanced and worked beautifully together. The egg was jammy and spot-on in terms of taste, texture, and presentation. I had the Fully Loaded, which features a potato waffle topped with bacon bits, sour cream, chives, and cheese. It leaned a bit salty, but not overwhelmingly so, still quite enjoyable overall. I loved the potato waffle which has the slightly crispy edges but was soft to bite with a texture that resembled mash potatoes. As someone who isn't usually crazy about waffles, which was such a nice alternative. Each of our mains came with a side salad (lightly dressed and refreshing) and a choice of fruit salad, maple baked beans, or potato salad. We both chose the fruit salad, which was impressively varied with orange, grapefruit, watermelon, blueberry, blackberry, and banana. Note: Payment is cash or debit only.
