It's the kind of card selection you find yourself browsing extensively, and going "ooooh" a lot; maybe you even end up buying 'advance' or 'emergency' cards because you know sooner or later you will need to send something special to someone special. All in all, for a card/stationery store it's about as good as it gets, plus it's a great place to shop small.

She custom created a thick square black lucite engraved invitation with white writing, white square envelopes and response cards with envelopes. My guests jaws drooped when they received my invitations and everyone told me how they have never seen anything like this in their life. We got a few wedding cards here and each card was like $2 or so. The store is a little narrow though and there was a surprisingly high number of patrons here on a Friday afternoon. Popular joint! Hopefully you're honing in on the positive, happy times, but even sad, solemn moments can call for a card and CFL helps out with that, most of the time. I mean, you care about those lovely humans in your life so show em some love with a card, right? Until you go to CVS or the Hallmark store and you're spending $6 on a piece of paper! Maybe a handmade gesture? Well before you go that far, at least try CFL where you'll find a decent birthday, Mother's Day, Christmas, or any other card you might need for half of that $6 charge. I will say the cards aren't of the highest, most elaborate, or clever quality. Therein lies the moment where you ponder if it's worth the extra dollars to buy something with a little more oomph. Though for the most part, these cards get the job done. There's also plenty of odds and ends, random collectibles, and of course your lotto and scratch off tickets which can round out the card purchase nicely. I've found service to be hit or miss here. Just last week two women behind the counter didn't acknowledge a woman who had walked up for a good 30 seconds as they continued their convo until the woman had to make herself known. A little frustrating to watch, though sometimes you'll get service with a smile. Overall, it's a 3.5 kind of deal, but I'm rounding up because when I think about getting a card for someone, I usually go here. You'll get a reasonable message at a nice little price. Though, if it's a super duper special day you're celebrating, you might want to cough up the extra George Washingtons and head to Hallmark. I have a tough choice ahead with V-Day coming!

I was having a hard time finding a book by James Fell, a fairly well known author. I asked her where I could find his books and instead of simply looking this up I got a nasty face, and a disdainful "I don't know who that is. Are you sure that's the right name?" Not her words...her tone and demeanor. SMH. Another employee, right nearby, assisted me, found the book in seconds and was on his way. No...I didn't buy it. Principle. I passed her again later and got another dirty look....really? Another issue entirely...is there a good reason that there are novels...many novels.... in the religion section? Inquiring minds would like to know. I hadn't been in this store in quite some time...won't return any time soon. Changed and not for the better. FTR...everyone else that I spoke to in the store, aside from the rude manager, was quite pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Wow, B & N...Amazon is eating you. Do better.
