This place is the BEST recording studio I've ever used. We had a terrible experience at a competitor's studio. It was very unprofessional. Turns out we needed to get some more pickups for voiceovers for a TV series, and I was like "I am not going back there." So I called Stage One. First I talked to Mike who led me to Rob... and let me tell you it was a NIGHT AND DAY difference. Rob was EXTREMELY professional. He engineered the whole time and was great with the actors. He was kind and helpful, meticulous without being annoying. Honestly, I could've cried at how well everything went compared to the other place. OK - This is my 200th review and my 60th 1st to review. Whoohoo! Again, since this will be a landmark review for me, I thought I should write about a special place: Stage One Studios. My first experience with Stage One was 6 years ago, when it was simply a 1-room rehearsal and recording studio set up in a mix commercial/industrial center right off the Crown Valley Parkway exit in Laguna Niguel. At that time it went by the name, Goofy Lucy's. I was nervous when I first approached this studio. I was there to audition for Dead Man's Party, the Oingo Boingo Tribute Band and (as I found out later) to meet my future husband. It was a big day. I could hear the music from the parking lot. It was muted, but I could still make it out. When I actually went inside, there was the 11-piece band, which barely fit in the rehearsal room. They looked cramped, and as I found out when attempting to dance once, they were. Well, a lot has changed since then. Yes, I got the back-up singer part and I got the man, but that's not what I'm referring to. The former Goofy Lucy's grew up. A new space in a South Irvine industrial park, just a stone's throw away from the former Irvine Meadows, now Verizon Amphitheatre became the setting for the now Stage One Studios. Gone are the days of the 1-room rehearsal/recording studio. Stage One Studios now boasts 5 rehearsal rooms, 1 "Showcase" room with stage and sound board and 1 recording studio. 2 of the rooms have outside doors with easy access for loading and unloading equipment. It's a pretty cool set up. Owner, Rob Elfaizy has taken a lot of time and research to give the recording room the most current sound equipment and sound proofing available. In fact, the sound equipment in all of the rooms is excellent. Oh - and that cramped issue? It's not such a problem anymore. The showcase room boasts a large stage with plenty of room to practice some moves. There are also larger rehearsal rooms as well as smaller, depending upon the needs of the band. Yes, Goofy Lucy's has definitely gone to a new level. The growth and changes are extraordinary. I would highly recommend this place to any band. read more

Our band practices here often and the service here is great, the rooms are perfect size and well kept up. can't really complain about this place. Bathroom is always clean so that's always a plus. Professional, comfortable, and our recordings came through outstandingly well. We worked with the lead sound technician who helped us make the entire recording experience straightforward and fun! He was also knowledgable about different compression methods and was quickly able to use various digital plugins to help us get the sound we were looking for in mere moments. Stage one is a very nice rehearsal studio I have been using since they opened which was many years ago about 20 I would say they actually just upgraded all their PA systems in their rooms new carpet they have air-conditioning it's everything you would need and want in the studio their price seems to be high but the value and for what you get it's really worth it if you need somewhere to rehearse or record they have all your needs . take advantage of their situation be sure to book a week in advance most the time it is booked but they can be a little hard to get a hold of so make sure you allow time to call them more than once if you leave a message they call you right back read more

I've been coming here for years, whether just to jam or have a serious band practice. I've tried looking for a cheaper studio, but you really can't beat their prices.The staff is super laid-back, friendly, and helpful. They give you plenty of time to load up before they begin your time. The rooms and PA's are perfectly satisfactory, and there's never been a time when I called in and the rooms were all booked up. I'm also friends with the guy who built the recording room/sound stage and he's been a professional sound engineer for most of his life with some big names who really knows what he's doing. Definitely my go-to studio. read more

Stage One is great. Staff are always friendly and helpful, from booking the room on the phone to loading out when you're done. The rooms are cleaner than most places and big enough without being too big. Good AC when you need it, which is most of the time due to the insulation and soundproofing; just request it be turned on from the front desk. The PA systems are plenty adequate, but I recommend getting some staff help setting it up so you dont squander your practice time tweaking mic levels and killing feedback. Loading in and out at Stage One is easy - the distance to the parking lot is very short. Parking is never a problem. The bathrooms are clean, best vending machine product selection of any studio, ever (seriously), and the rates are in line with every other place. What can I say? Stage One is great, don't hesitate to book some time there for a lessons, rehearsals, or auditions. read more
