I have been to Stages twice now, both times for youth productions. Both times I was blow away with how incredible the performances were!! The sets are amazing, the actors are brilliant and the space is lovely. Can't wait to see my next show there!!

We brought our four kids to their first musical here. We watched elf and it was fantastic! My ten year old son leaned over in the middle of the play and said, "thanks for bringing me here, this is really good!' It's a Really great place to take a family! Our kids are ages 5-12 and they all enjoyed it. The actors are very talented. Every scene was entertaining, they had excellent sets, and very good songs! The theatre isn't very big so any seat is a good one. They have booster seats for young kids. The characters lineup outside after for a meet and greet after the show. The line gets long though, so get there quickly if you want to chat with them or get signatures. The Lobby can get crowded right before or after the show. Their is free parking around the theatre. It's in a really cute town if you want to take time to shop and eat.

I can't recommend the theatre for the very young enough!! We've gone to the Children's theatre and Old log kids' shows and the Orpheum opera, but Stages kills it for the under 5 crowd. My daughters 2.5 and 1 LOVED the Inch by Inch show. It was interactive and beautifully performed. The show started with quiet play and guitar music while the actors interacted with the kids at various stations. Highly recommend for young kids!

Stages is a really fun place. There website is easy to navigate ...and does a great job of telling you where to park. There is free parking in a nearby deck...yes free! The theater is nice...staff is nice. The volunterrs are nice. We went to see Madagascar. The kids doing the play did a really good job. It was just the right length of time for my two small children. We will be back!

CDT has been open since 1968 and has been the launching pad for many actors who have become famous. It has several stages and the main stage is the one that has the dinner theatre. I have been to this theatre dozens of times over the years. The show that I saw recently was Guys and Dolls. CDT tends to present the classics, but does there own updating and choreography. This musical had a live orchestra. The shows at CDT are very high quality and to me are equivalent to the theatres in Minneapolis and St. Paul such as the Orpheum and the State Theatre. The quality of actors is excellent, as is the production value of the shows. Show-only tickets may be reserved no earlier than ten days prior to a Main Stage performance date, based upon availability, so let's talk about the dinner part of the dinner theatre. Honestly, this is not exactly their strong point. However, the value of the dinner is stated to be $22, which is not exactly a very large amount. The most famous choice is the Chicken Chanhassen, which I think is very good. You can order extra drinks, dessert, etc. and that is where their profit margin lies. All in all, this is an excellent theatre and represents our area well in terms of the arts and theatre.

Shows vary but they tend to pick oldies like Grease too often. I remember seeing Shirley Valentine here decades ago when they took more risks. They do have a drag brunch monthly so that is something. Parking can be challenging for the concerts. On concert night there was a wedding, concert and Guys and Dolls. Maybe a comedy show too. Very packed. Show parking is good because you arrive earlier. The food is very standard. It has always needed an upgrade. Recommended, by now it is an institution.

Incredible Art Deco interior that will occupy your mind while you are waiting in quiet desperation for the act you came to see. Beer, wine and a limited bar offers the patrons something to enjoy your event with. The audio is generally pretty good, depending on where you sit. The same goes for event viewing - no obstructive view in the theater.

The seats are extremely tight, not much leg room and a bit uncomfortable after a while. I feel like the guides weren't very helpful at getting people to their seats. I I'm still not sure where they label the sections, I had to ask several people and that made some other people realize they were in the wrong seats/section. The lobby opens 1 hr before the show but the doors to be seated don't open until 30 min prior. I suggest getting there 15-20 min before the show starts for smoother entry. You will still have time to grab a drink and find your seats without the hassle of the pre show crowd. It was so chaotic. The drinks are spendy for what you get but they don't take tips so I guess it somewhat evens out. You can request a lid for your drink which for me is a must in these crowded spaces. Not my fav theatre but the if there's a play I'd like to see, I'd go here!

The company started oozing money, the new artistic director only hired her artist friends that were unemployed, along with her boyfriend, who was a raging alcoholic. There were instances where contractors would yell at children and make them cry, and the staff that actually cared, along with other students, would be left to console them. Along with this, the artistic director was unable to manage the administration/office work aspect of her job, and began to complain and give many of her responsibilities to students who were eager to help. This was in no way, shape, or form the faults of the students. They were taken advantage of by an adult they trusted and cared about, who was tanking the business that they loved so deeply. This director ended up being fired due to her making political statements in the 2024 production of Les Miserables (it is a BWTC tradition to produce this show every four years). Because of this, there was a mass exodus of the staff/contractors, and the new AD brought in a pretty much new staff to the theatre. However, the theatre has not recovered financially, or in any other way. The building has some charm, but is falling apart due to how old it is. There have been some problems with ticket sales as well, especially for high school students. All of the kids are aware of this, and many of us would feel disappointed when we would go to perform a show, only for the audience to be 10 to 15 people. I did have some positive experiences at BWTC, and met some people I am still very close to today, but the negative impacts outweigh the positive. If you or your child are looking for theatre programming, try Stages, Children's, or another theatre in the area. They cost the same, but they actually have qualified contractors and staff who know about theatre.
