Great spot for live (country) music in downtown Lexington. The bartenders were super attentive even though it was pretty packed. It seems to be a younger, college crowd since it's so close to UK. We were probably the oldest people in there besides the band. Regardless, we had a good time. Parking is located across the street in the parking garage. read more

It's a basement. Sweaty, confusing, and unfriendly layout to actually get around. Drinks are subpar.

Tonight I tried to introduce my cousin who had just turned 21 to Stagger Inn, and we were appalled at the disrespect that we were greeted with. I've been to this establishment often and was hoping to introduce him to one of my favorite bars. Unfortunately, we were not only denied entry and not given a clear answer as to why, but also called "faggots" and told to get on treadmills. This interaction has absolutely discouraged me from ever bringing me or my friends back. We were made aware that this employee is still in training, and I would hope that this homophobic discrimination would not be characteristics of someone that would represent Stagger Inn. read more

An awesome reboot of the decrepit old Redmons bar. The place has been completely remodeled and is finally open more than one night a week. Ambience is much better than the dungeon-like bar of before. Ample TVs for sporting events. Live music when it counts. Also great looking staff. What's not to love? Win win for this place! read more

This is not a working man's bar. At 430 on a Tuesday 2 Miller lites were $10 bucks..i mean come on. Bartender was nice.. yeah that's it.

Stagger Inn just really isn't my favorite bar. My experiences here have been fine, nothing terrible happened, but I don't really love the atmosphere or have a good time when I'm here. It's a bar on the lower level of a large downtown building, so it has a dark basement feel to me. They do have a patio, but I've never hung out in that area. It's really country, which just isn't my scene. And they have plenty of TV's to watch sports, but outside of a few college basketball games that really isn't my thing either. Though, I can see the draw for a lot of college students going out in the area since they're at UK nearby. If you're looking for live music though, this spot often has it. Again, it's a fairly country scene, so that's likely what they'll be playing, but if that's what you're looking for this spot could be for you! read more

Very good flow, bar placement is pretty run of the mill... Typical bar. Drinks are well mixed, bartenders really go heavy with the mixed drinks so you get much more than you pay for. They are attentive, too, so you dont spend your night staring at paint here. With that being said this place gets 1 star and lost my business b/c bar staff treat every patron like a drunk college student. So, get ready to be pushed out of the way (physically) by bust boys and bouncers.. Asked to speak to a manager over this and was walked out by the bouncer. That's what I call good management. I get why this place is popular because of the music and it being a college bar but honestly it's a big concrete room in a basement. Beer is good but the mixed drink prices even when ordering well are a little much for it to be all mixer and not a lot of alcohol. I know bands are a big pull here but given it is a big concrete room, the sound is completely overwhelming. While I personally haven't had issues with any staff past or present there's plenty of other reviews here that can speak for how they treat people who are not cis or white. To be honest, there are way better bars within short walking distance that won't waste your time. I honestly don't understand why people love this bar at all. read more

Bad, unprofessional bouncers at this place. Three bouncers attacked a drunk guy and beat him 3-on-1 last night, beat and stomped him when he was on the ground, stomped his glasses. It was brutal. Bouncers started the physical part. Bouncer shoved a drunk guy to start the physical fight, then two other bouncers jumped in. Bouncer who started it was little guy with dark beard. Then a huge tall oaf, shaved head, beard, jumped in with cheap shots. They were not trying to eject the patron, they were trying to hurt him. These are not good people. Note that this place has a total of nine reviews on here, and four of them talk about problems with the bouncers. This should be a major red flag to ownership and anyone thinking of coming here... (Two of the reviews that reference bouncer problems are at the bottom and are "not recommended" but they appear to be legitimate accounts.) read more

It's a real shame that this bar has such a great atmosphere, management, and bar staff but the bouncers routinely give this place a bad reputation. Came here the weekend of New Years with some friends from Colombia to show them a Lexington atmosphere. Despite having valid Colombian passports that worked at every place we went to in Louisville, miami, and Lexington for some reason the bouncers here told us "they must have a valid United States issued ID to enter this establishment" I tried to explain to the bouncer that this just isn't a factual law but he was not hearing any of it, after a while they just pushed us out of the way and told us not to come back. If you have friends visiting from outside of the US do not take them here. read more

Fantastic drink selection, but bouncers are bad. We were at our table for about twenty minutes when they approached us and told us to leave. A friend of mine gave them a hard time and wanted to know why we were asked to leave, they then became hostile and beat him over the head with a pay phone. Probably not going back. read more

I do not like Thursday Night Live, so I usually end up here on a given Thursday night that started with TNL in downtown Lexington, at the Pavilion. It's usually not crowded here, but I don't know if it's because the place hasn't caught on yet, or what. They don't serve food. It's a country western type of bar, that I can imagine has line dancing at some point throughout the week. If you're a Lexingtonian, you probably remember or passed Redmonds, at some point. This place is underground, in the former Redmonds spot. The staff is always nice. I follow @StaggerInnLex on Twitter and they tweet about the drink specials from time to time. Other than the downtown parking, there's really nothing to complain about. Parking is irrelevant though, because you should catch an Uber. read more

I will pretty much always go to stagger. One of the singers (I believe his name is Cory) is AWESOME! The owners are literally the cutest couple you will ever see. There is just one bartender that kinda throws me for a loop every time I go. She tends to be really flirty with the guys and takes shots with them. Which is not here or there, but definitely throws me off since she tends to just be focused on the guys. Definitely doesn't stop me from going back because I'm a country girl at heart. What country girl can deny some good country music and good drinks!?!? As I can see from previous reviews, bouncers here do not know that they can accept green cards and passports. This is ABC training 101. Hispanic people are often the targets. My friend used his green card to get into this bar. It was not fake (because why would he use a fake green card and not a fake ID??). They insisted it was fake repeatedly and bragged about how great they were at spotting fakes. We had to search 20 minutes for a police officer so he could just get his card back. We weren't trying to get him into the bar anymore. We just wanted his green card back as that is very important for him to work and identify himself as a legal resident. They reluctantly gave it back. Their fake sleuthing skills are flawed at best and they were truly rude to my friend. I can only think they treated him like this because he is Mexican. No one inside the bar looked like him, so I wouldn't be surprised if people avoid this bar because of this. read more

We were in town for the weekend and were drawn into Stagger Inn by the music playing on the speakers outside. They had live music inside and it was a fun atmosphere - mostly UK college students. No cover charge to get in. Friday night they had overflow beer sales off to the side, but it wasn't there when we went back to visit again on Saturday night. read more

Lines four the women's bathroom are absurdly long. If you buck the system of long waits for the women's bathroom by going to the men's room a bouncer might try to assert his authority by blocking your access to hand washing. You're probably going to be stronger and thus able to wash up anyway before leaving for literally any other bar. This place is full of itself and can fuck off. read more

Horrible experience. Walked outside to get two of my friends into a cab, because one of them really needed to get home. I ran into someone I knew outside before heading in, in which he is both black and gay. I only say both of those things, because as I try to get back into the bar with him, I had forgotten that I did not get a stamp from this establishment, that I just had to show my ID. The bouncer quickly told me to leave because I held my hand out, but I pulled my ID out and apologized for not remembering which bar I had a stamp for, and which bar I did not need a stamp. The bouncer then again told me and my friend that we could not come in. I explained that my jacket and cell phone were actually inside with my group of friends, and asked if I could please get back in. Again the bouncer refused, and did not care about anything I was saying and continued to let other people into the bar around us. I then asked the bouncer if it was the fact that both of us were gay, or the fact that my friend was black were either reason for us not getting in. The bouncer then proceeded to get noticeably angry with my comment and told me that we needed to leave immediately. I asked again if I could somehow go inside to get my jacket and cell phone telling the bouncer we would leave after, and he again said no. We waited outside for a while for my friends, and after half an hour we went to another bar in the pavilion because it was 10 degrees outside. We went back around closing time and my friends were outside with my jacket and cell phone, telling me how worried they were because they couldn't find me anywhere. THE WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had in a Lexington establishment. It's pretty sad because my friends and I came up from Richmond and we were having a great time until they had an ignorant bouncer work the door. read more
