Two great tats etched into my skin by Kat. She's super great and easy to work with. My first stop in I picked up a flash she shared on Instagram. It's a sweet little bee she drew up for the summer months. Her last creation I requested through a message. I sent a reference and brief description of what I was looking for and she sketched it up. I was happy that she provided the sketch with plenty of time before the appointment we scheduled. Kat is friendly and you can tell she's grateful to anyone who chooses her to work with. She loves what she does. Stained is fairly clean and is easy to find on high street. read more

This place came highly recommended to me by two of my friends. I came here to get my first tattoo done and I can't say it was super super awesome. It wasn't a bad experience, but it could've been better. I would come back, just not to the artist that I had. I was a walk in because I just wanted a simple quote done in a specific font so I wasn't worried about who did it. His name was Nathan and he was a super cool dude. No complaints about his skills as an artist. But when my tattoo was done, he offered no information about tattoo aftercare and didn't even bandage the tattoo up. I even asked him if I could put my shirt back down and he just said yep! Basically, my only issue was that he didn't offer any advice about tattoo aftercare. It was like he expected me to already know even though I told him it was my first tattoo. Overall though, very pleased with it. Anthony gave me an awesome Asian Lion tattoo. He improvised the "smoke" design on the spot. He is extremely passionate about East Asian art. I am a Taiwanese American who has seen much Asian art in my travels, and I can say that Anthony has honed the style quite well. Now that I know he will do a fantastic job, I have to figure out some way to save up some money for a nine-tailed fox on my back. Mario was the artist who gave me my first tattoo on the other shoulder. He was extremely patient and committed to a great job. He was such a perfectionist that he was sweating! I got my second (and so far, most recent) tattoo at Stained Skin. While I thought the shop itself was very nice and a pleasure to be in compared to plenty of other tattoo studios I've visited, the level of service I received was not quite perfect. I had a specific design in mind for my tattoo and discussed this with the artist who ended up doing my tattoo; it had been sketched for me by my girlfriend at my request (and as a gift). The artist- who is no longer at Stained Skin- seemed to have no qualms about the design and we started almost immediately. The process was about what you would expect, although bland; my artist was not a conversationalist, which some people might like, but a little chat before I fell into the trance of the needle-gun would have been nice. At any rate the tattoo was quick and painless, and I left satisfied. It wasn't until later, when it was all clean and healed, that my girlfriend noticed that a section of the tattoo hadn't been colored in. It was a rather small area to be sure, but the error was plain as day. Now I'm fairly certain that if I had called Stained Skin and told them what was up I would have received a free touch-up, but I never quite scheduled it and now, who knows, I'll get it filled in when I get my next tattoo (if I do). Still, the oversight in the first place was fairly shocking and seemed sloppy to me. Again, this artist isn't at Stained Skin now so my experience may not be perfectly valid. Despite this small error I was pleased with the price and the service, and I remain satisfied with the tattoo. While I did like some of the art I saw from other artists in the book of samples the store had, I think I'll try a different studio next time I get inked in Columbus. read more

I literally called at 6:30pm to see what time they close on a Wed (8pm by the way). Ben picked up the phone, and I asked if it was by appt only. He said it depends, but they usually operate with appts. Then he asked what I wanted, and I said something small with 2 lines of letters/words and an arrow on my wrist. He asked if I had the font picked out, and I said pretty much. He told me that the faster I could get down there, the faster he could tattoo me. So I was like alright, be there ASAP. I got in a little bit before 7pm, walked in, and asked for Ben. I had been thinking about this tattoo idea for a long time and showed him. He went in the back to draw it up and gave a few suggestions which were helpful. I filled out paperwork, and he scanned a copy of my ID. I was happy with the design, and we went to the back to his work area. I have a decent pain tolerance and was ready for it. He asked if it was my first tattoo, and I said yes. He then explained that it feels like a burning sensation. That actually eased my mind because it was described well - I felt a bit more prepared for it haha. He first did on small line to see how I would react, it really wasn't bad at all. Some parts on my wrist were a little worse than others, but not pain that I couldn't handle. I've had a good amount of ear piercings before so I can take a bit of pain. We talked about random things, he has a really awesome dvd collection, and he had his TV on some channel. I think the background noise was helpful and eclectic mix of owls and roosters was really helpful as a distraction and pretty cool. The tattoo itself took about 15 minutes I think, it was very quick and as painless as possible. I got out of there around 8pm so it was perfect timing. I really appreciated that he was still okay with me coming in late and worked up until closing instead of asking me to make an appt and come back because I can be a little impulsive sometimes if I really wanted something. It was a great first tattoo experience, and everything was very clean and neat in there. I'm thinking of a few other tattoo ideas now! Edit: it's been over a year now, and there wasn't much fading, but after it healed, you can tell the detail wasn't as prominent and the line is thicker than I would've wanted. The thickness and thinness also vary when it should be more uniform. I'm not upset about it, but I think it may show the artists can't do as much detail and can't create as thin of lines that I would've liked. read more

I went to this place for my first tattoo and I love it. Not only was it beautiful and highly detailed, I had a fun time talking to Anthony as he gave me my tattoo. So many people have seen my tattoo and asked for who gave to me and said they all wanted to get a tattoo done there as well. I plan on going back there for almost every tattoo I get. read more

I loved my experience here! It was my dad and I's first tattoos and we went in to get tattooed by Mario. We talked with him and he asked us lots of questions about exactly what we wanted. He offered expert advice and opinions on what would and wouldn't look good, placement, colors, etc. He was amazing and made us feel super comfortable and welcome the entire time! We were there for over 2 hours and he never once complained, he was completely supportive. On top of that, his work was incredible. I will go back to Mario for all my future tattoos. read more

First let me say I can only speak on what I experienced. I have been to this establishment twice. The first time I would say my experience was ok. I can remember the artist name, but he had left by the time I returned for my second tattoo. My second trip I was determined to get a tattoo by Anthony because of all the good things I had heard about him. I made my appointment talked to Anthony about what I wanted, and showed him a picture of what I wanted. Came back for my tattoo, and he was almost 2 hours late to my appointment and brought his dog with him. He also had not drawn anything yet for my tattoo which he did in the matter of a few minutes. I felt he rushed through my tattoo, and the end product shows it. It took me a long time to even accept this thing on my wrist. I still don't like it, and I'm hoping to add artwork around it so that maybe it will make it look better. It's frustrating because I've seen the good work he can do, but my tattoo isn't one of them. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. First off, the pricing was questionable and definitely looking back at my experiences I was charged too much for this subpar tattoo. I got a semi-simplistic bear with a forest scenery. The tattoo started off with amazing details and he suddenly stopped giving details with the trees. The lines are out of place and I'm reminded of it everyday by people who look at it. I'm planning to get a background to cover up the horrid lines and coloring done. I paid the same amount for my newest tattoo in another shop and you can tell that the effort and charge was right. It shocks people when I tell them I paid them the same amount on these two different quality tattoos. I wish I could get my money back. Never coming again and I want to warn people to come to this place for a tattoo. read more

My experience with Stained Skin has left a horrible impression. I wanted a cover-up on my inner left forearm and went into the shop in April to speak to an artist. I made my appointment, showed the artist what I wanted and paid for the tattoo & left feeling pleased. Three days before my appointment I got horribly sick(had to be hospitalized, ect) and needed to reschedule my tattoo. It took two months to get the artist to even contact me in order to get my tattoo rescheduled(I called at last one/twice a week and even went down to the shop but of course my artist wasn't there!). Once he finally responded to me we reschedule for the beginning of August, but when I went in for my appointment the artist said that he didn't have me down on the books and he couldn't fit me in. He said it would be near the end of September if I wanted to have it done or I could contact another artist to have them do the tattoo but he didn't have any of their information!! I was so upset, I had paid for a tattoo that I didn't have and it seemed I would never get at this rate. I asked for my money back and left immediately. Went to a shop in Hilliard and I am immensely happier. read more
