I had to post after reading Matthew S. review. Dude, do you know how many young punks go into that shop and probably act like imbeciles, asking for weed and pipes and what-not? Having your ID when you're young, even with a "full-grown beard" is essential, not just here but everywhere, especially when driving a motor vehicle. I found the employees to be very helpful, sure anyone is liable to be a little pissy if they're having a bad day, but knowing this yourself Matthew, maybe you should give them another chance. Also, no matter how professional or non-professional a stores' staff might be, there's no account for some of the retards who come in without their ID's with a pocket full of their mommy and daddy's moolah. I mean think about it; you can be 18 and not be able to buy beer but you could buy Salvia or K2 from these type of shops, ( but you need your ID!) you'd need your ID to buy beer from Kroger right? Well the herbs might get you just as fucked up as the beer or wine, so what you need your ID! Stop whining and start shaving; your beard. read more

Went here for over a decade. No more. After the redhead guy in glasses was rude from the beginning of my visit there, to the condescending answers he give me when I would ask a question all the way up to where he was accusing me of stealing my father's card, and called the cops on me. He called me a "Karen" for asking for his manager, which he refused to call, but would call the cops. He called me a bitch numerous times, and was the worst service ever. The poor manager got caught in the mix. I bought with my own card then to prove to them I wasn't a broke person stealing from someone, but a 26 of 32 year brain cancer patient who was trying to buy an item so I could continue my treatment with oligodendroglioma. I know he still works there, so I will never support this shop ever. Went down the road and found "Bongz and Thongz" and he treated me with the upmost respect, and didn't treat me like a criminal when I used my father's card. I told the story to my dad, and he was confused because it didn't have the SEE ID on the back that is standard if you want to have ID checked. I'll be buying from "Bongz and Thongz" from now on. Hope that guy is worth your business being run into the ground that I use to love. read more

I forget how I heard about this place... I may have just stumbled upon it after moving to town. Either way, I'm glad I did. I think it's an okay headshop, but like most headshops, there are some pros and cons. Pros: The staff is incredibly knowledgeable about which of their pieces are locally made. And for the ones that are not locally made they are usually pretty well-versed in where it was made. So, if you're like me, and try to support the Michigan economy, this is great. The staff is pretty hands off, which I love. Cons: Enough with the signs. I know what I'm not "allowed" to say (albeit kinda silly). I find it highly annoying that while there are signs giving every iteration possible of not okay references to what they are supposedly not selling, there are items made out of beer bottles with their names changed to be obvious references to things that are (but should not be) illegal. Can someone explain that to me? All in all, a good headshop if you're looking for a gift or personal item. read more

I love this place..As soon as you walk in there is a huge rack of my fav incense.. Our pad smells so good. This incense lingers a long time. They make a Shalimar scent but STH does not carry it. Will ask if they can get it for me. Staff is always very nice to me , I'm in there alot they know me by now. Cute tie dye t shirts for the little tykes in yer life. Very reasonable prices. read more

I had heard about this little shop from a friend and decided to check it out when visiting Ann Arbor. I was amazed in what they had that was not related to the smoking culture. I found some really cool shirts as well as posters. Plus, they have a vast selection of incense which is sometimes hard to find anymore. I will admit when strolling over to the "other side" I was confused at some things I saw or had just never ever seen them before. The staff was really knowledgeable and nice. My only complaint is the stairs leading up to Stairway to Heaven. They need a little revamp, but nothing major. read more

It is what it is. I walked upstairs and went in assuming they would sell tie dye shirts and they had a good selection. Lots of tobacco accessories, etc...., but I can still smell the incense from inside the store. As I said, it is what it is: a great Head Shop. read more

After seeing this mentioned on Yelp and noticing it wandering State the other day, I decided to stop in. Eh... if you're looking for variety of anything uh... "that" culture related then this is your place. Shirts, incense, posters, scales, even flasks, and of course a healthy selection of pieces. Having said this, nothing in the place really wowed me. Some pieces, like the animal series, were pretty cool but overall nothing stood out to me. Perhaps it was because I found the store completely unattended? Yeah that's right, there was nobody working the store for the whole time (close to 10 minutes) that I was in there. I had no intention of buying anything but still, security hazard at best, horrible service at worst. Points for variety and completion but you'll do better at Foggy Bottom Bayou a few minutes down State Street. read more

The lady that owns the place is very nice and helpful, and they have a decent selection. BEWARE I have bought high end name brand tubes from them and found later found out that they were definately fakes. the logo was smaller and in the wrong place, the glass was paper thin and the perculaters looked like garbage when stood next to a real version. I think her distributor is ripping her off or something. examine the glass extremely well if your buying a high end piece. read more
