    Blue Cheese Filet Mignon
    Nikki M.

TLDR; Price 7/10 * Food 8.5/10 * Service 10/10 * Ambiance 9/10 Very upscale steakhouse with two different areas - lounge and dining room. You can make reservations for either one, but from my experience they're not usually busy. I've passed by Stakeout very often, since I'm usually in the area, but have never decided to go in because of how pricey it looked... But I've finally tried it out! They're your classic casual-fine dining steakhouse. I say casual-fine because though they don't enforce a dress code, the waiters and other diners are all nicely-dressed. I got the Blue Cheese Filet Mignon with a beef barley soup. I've got to say - their soup is surprisingly delicious! Not too salty and a good ratio of solids vs. soup. The filet mignon was nicely prepared, though I've had blue cheese before but never this aromatic... It was a little much for me (even though I love cheese). The mashed potatoes that came with it was disappointing. No gravy and it was fairly dry. The vegetables were good, they had a nice crunch and weren't too mushy. My mom got the prime rib and her portion was huge and a good bang for its buck. I'd recommend that over the other steaks (which were sizeably different). Service was very good, something you can definitely expect in such an upscale place. Our waiter kept checking on us and giving us frequent updates on our meals (he apologized for the wait because there was a large party that backed up the kitchen), but wasn't so often that he was annoying. The atmosphere of the dining area was rustic and high-class. Curtains were draped over doors and there are skylights that bring natural light into the room. They've definitely renovated the building before establishing the restaurant there - the walls are all wood and rustic. Lights are a little dim and they have very nice seats (comfortable).

14 oz porkchop with side of fries. Delicious, moist, and huge cut of meat.

I've tried a few menu items over the years. We've always had great meals and good service. Most recently I had a kir royale, bacon wrapped scallops, the lobster tail dinner for my main with house salad to start, and chocolate cake for desert. It was a pretty fantastic meal I have to say. In the past I've ordered the pork chop as my main and loved it. One if the biggest porch chops I'd ever seen! My husband likes to order the steaks which are always delicious as well. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Nice ambiance - I only wish they didn't have TVs going during a nice dinner - but I guess some people need sports.

FYI: It's a pricier joint. We came here for our anniversary dinner. Even though they seem to have a upper class venue, you don't need to suit up. Nice Decor and Romantic Atmosphere with the Dim Lighting. But location is situated beside "The Source" and in the same unit as A Taekwondo Studio and A Popeye Fried Chicken. Gave us some free bread as well. With Butter and Olive Spread. Hubby loves Olives so he enjoyed the spread the most :) We ordered: App: Seared Bacon Wrapped Scallops. Was really tender and flavourful. Main: Prime Rib And New York Striplion Steak Prime Rib came with Garden Salad and Fries. Hubby thought his Prime was not rare enough for him. Garden Salad was a nice presentation. Cucumber Ring Holding the Salad Inside. New York Striplion Steak 8oz Cooked to my liking and was tender and moist. Juicy and was delish. But the odd thing is my sides were all on a separate plate. Couldn't help but to put them all on 1 plate. Lol. My steak plate was empty with just a roasted bulb of garlic with it. Overall, food was great, service was great. Would come back to try others items next time.

    Inside elegance.

Elegant interior with superb service. The food was fine however, I asked for a medium rare prime rib and it seemed like it was more medium. Loved the olive spread with the bread and butter. Would love to go back again since I believe in supporting local businesses. Note: It feels like you're in a fancy fine dining establishment. However there is no need to dress up. Casual attire is sufficient as long as it isn't ripped jeans and a tee...Unless you're Justin Bieber with the big bucks! The parking area is shared with The Source and Popeye's next door.

Came here for valentines day dinner. Ordered the following: oysters for starters Steak neptune Rib steak The oysters were a bit small. One order came with 6 oysters. Nothing spectacular about the oysters. Rib steak was HUGE! Much bigger than expected. I ordered medium rare and it was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered steak neptune and he said it was PERFECT. Filet mignon topped with alaskan crab meat. He commented that he will never go back to the Keg after coming to Stakeout! The main course came with soup or salad, veggies and fries. We didn't even touch the side dishes because the main's portion is very generous. Will definitely return :)

Great steak house at a very reasonable price. All their steaks come with: - Caesar salad or soup - choice of potatoes: mashed, fries, or baked potatoes - side of seasonal vegetables We went with another couple. My steak was cooked perfectly, exactly the way I liked it. The other three were happy with their steaks. My hubby had the porterhouse steak which was kinda smaller than I expected but steak was great. Overall, I would recommend this place: good service and great steaks

We love the atmosphere and the food. Very elegant and delicious. We ordered several cuts of steak and they were all delicious. We also ordered the seafood linguine it was delicious as well. The staff were very professional and friendly.

Not worry the price. Decor is nice, food is not. Steaks just aren't worth it. Keg is better. Overpriced, no flavour.

Menu is a tad over priced, but I can't deny it tastes good. Not overly salty or oily as bar food often is, and I actually really enjoyed their pasta. It's definitely a great place to go for a bit of a splurgy night with friends where you're prepared to pay $20-40 per person. I like it for a date night to have some heavier foods that I wouldn't want to try cooking at home. The short rib pappardelle was the best. I love the flavour and it's not too crazy heavy, even though it looks really creamy. It has very beef stew type vibes. The chicken wings were well cooked and still moist. I think it was too much flavour going on though. You LOVE the first and even second wing. But by the third one, I felt like it was getting too heavy. I know though that a lot of people love that and can't get enough of it. I personally don't like too much of any one thing. The brussel sprouts I felt the same. It's really yum for the first few bites but it gets really heavy after a while. I think it's really fun to have the appetizers and share a main with someone. The foods are a bit heavier, more of a flavour bomb, but everything is executed well and the staff are really nice! We've even done take out and the portions were very much the same.

It's located in a plaza next to Rexall, anchored by a Food Basics. I headed eastbound along Steeles Avenue East, which becomes Taunton Road. I then turned right on Westney Road North, eventually making a left into this plaza. There was plenty of parking when I arrived. I backed into a spot and walked in. We reserved a couple of tables. We were ready to eat! We got there just before 4 pm. Our friendly server advised that its new pub menu was available for us to order from, as well as its main menu. It's a Caribbean restaurant that puts an island twist on many items. There are also non-Caribbean food if you're not feeling like having spiced-up items. From the pub menu, we got these items: - Loaded crunch burger - Mushroom madness burger - Greek salad - Beef nachos - Jerk chicken poutine - Jerk quesadilla We ordered these items from the main menu: - Special chicken lo mein - Spicy pepper shrimp - Honey garlic beef short ribs - Szechwan tofu with rice We started off with drinks. I ended up with a Hibiscus fruit mocktail. I couldn't tell you what was in it, but it was cold and delicious. Our table also got colourful drinks, including a mojito. We also got a pitcher of icy water. I went up to the bar to get a refill roughly halfway through our meal. The female staffer was so nice. She brought the refill to our table and even topped up our glasses. The food was excellent. I sadly couldn't fit the burgers in my system. They looked amazing. I love mushrooms, so I was especially sad that I didn't get to try the mushroom madness burger. Both burgers that we ordered came with fries. It seemed weird to order a Greek salad from a Caribbean place. Hey, we got to get some greens in. I was impressed at how much feta we got. I enjoyed this salad. The lettuce and onions were crisp. The latter didn't have that raw, burning taste to them. The dressing was delicious. The beef nachos were amazing. The beef had big, bold, beefy flavour. The melty cheese was great with the sour cream and crunchy nacho chips. I normally don't like sour cream, but this place didn't overdo it. I liked the lighter-handed approach. The jerk poutine was amazing. It had the best seasoned jerk chicken morsels with crispy fries, a decent gravy, and cheese curds. The jerk quesadilla stole my heart. The cheese pull didn't seem to want to stop. It was the same flavourful jerk chicken. It was delicious. The mains were equally as good as the pub items! The special chicken lo mein was indeed special. The lo mein was chewy and yummy. The sauce was on the saltier side, but it wasn't horrible. I liked the veggies, especially the baby corn. It had tender chicken morsels mixed in. On top of everything was even more roasted chicken. Wow! Everything was delicious, including the chicken on top. The spicy pepper shrimp were incredible. If you like spicy deliciousness, get the shrimp. They were perfectly cooked and yummy. The honey garlic beef short ribs were scrumptious. The sauce had the best mix of honey with garlic. The ribs were tender. I loved the red and green peppers. Yum! The szechuan tofu was a nice alternative to meat. The flavours were bold and perfect. I loved the cubed tofu. I actually brought this dish home with a mound of steamed rice. This eatery has a lot of seating. The bar is gorgeous. There's a huge screen for sports games there. You can also watch games anywhere in this restaurant as there are screens everywhere. If you do want a change of pace, there's a pool table near the entrance. I used the washroom before leaving and heading home. The women's was clean. This eatery has lunch and student specials. I'd like to try the former items one of these days. I had a great time with friends here over yummy drinks and food. I can't wait to return for more. (285)
