Prime Rib Sandwich was pretty good with palpable cheese (sometimes you can't taste the cheese) & a crisp bun. The jus was decent. The side Caesar salad was pretty good with a strong garlic edge. Keg Burger was good with some char, a pretty moist patty & notably crisp pickles. The caramelized onions & cheese were good too. Fries were decent though slightly under salted. 1 fry was undercooked and mushy too. Complimentary bread was decent but could be fresher. So I'm struggling on an updated score here because last year, when I held my bday here it was fantastic from start to finish, with ZERO ISSUE when it came to being seated. However, this year ... was a diff story. I made my bday reservation at this place again and was able to secure a res for ~17 ppl (I even updated the hostess with some calls as the # of guests fluctuated slightly). They were very accommodating although they didn't have any spots open for 6:30 or 7 pm which would've been ideal (it was either 5 pm or 8 pm). My entire party arrived 15-20 min early for our 8 pm scheduled res and as I (obviously) expected, the resto was absolutely packed out the wazoo around the front entrance. I quickly walked up to the reception and gave one of the hostesses my name, party size and # of guests. She told me it would be a 10-15 min wait as they finished preparing our table and gave me a buzzer to hang onto. After 20 min, I walked up to the front desk again where they proceeded to tell me that the table wasn't ready yet.... ok, we'll be patient but it's past our res time. Another 20 mins pass and I'm inquiring again at which point I think it was either the owner or manager comes out and tells us that the tables ready but the guests at the table aren't leaving. So then I'm a little annoyed and after ANOTHER 20 mins pass I ask again at which point the manager finally moves the guests occupying our table. For a total of 1 hour wait time past our allotted res, I would have to agree with reviewer, Bert F that the reservations should be honoured lol. Ok. Now that I've talked about that. They DID redeem themselves somewhat in my eyes. A BUNCH of appetizers for our group (I think 6 in total) on the house. There was a mom and dad in my party with a young child and she was SOOOO CRANKY because we were seated way past our dining time. Poor thing. Food was phenomenal still, as always. The Keg never disappoints on that front. Got my usual go-to order of the secret menu 24 oz prime rib, medium rare. Cooked perfectly, very juicy, very tender, very thick piece of meat. Twice baked potato was exquisite. Service was also pretty good for the night. Marcy and .... Sean I think his name was?? They almost forgot my complimentary billy miner pie slice but thankfully remembered before the bill arrived. I thought about dropping my rating down to 3 stars PURELY for the diabolical wait time but the food was still great, the service was good, still got my complimentary billy miner pie and we got free apps. Oh, and they also didn't rush us out of the resto when most of the dining tables had cleared out (actually the resto, in particular the bar was still pretty dang full still). We finished dining around midnight. So in light of all this, I only drop one star from my original 5 star review. The Keg is pretty consistent in terms of food. However, last time I went, they were so busy and packed, so was thus seated in the bar area. This was not a wise choice. If you're sitting on the long tables, when it's a super crowded restaurant, the servers would need to recognize that you may be a new comer/table. So, it's a bit hard to get their attention when these shifting seats and also trying to navigate past a dozen people just loafing around the bartender. I think they should probably add in a QR code to make an order directly per seat if it's going to be like that. It took a good 20 minutes before they recognized me and I was trying to get eye contact/make an order. It also took a while for the steak to come. What sort of irked me was that the server offered the two parties on either side of ours the bread, but did not offer us the same. It also was a bit awkward when the steak was faster to come than the water itself. I asked the person giving the steak to provide the water. I guess this was an off time. Steak order was...the wrong order. I ordered the rib steak and got the prime rib. As I was already hungry and knowing things were extremely slow, i just let it be and at least the bill was charged for the prime rib. A very busy restaurant on a Saturday night, even with a reservation expect a wait. Once you get a seat, everything is a good experience. Service is very good and always met with a smile =). Food was good and amount was generous. Escargot - This was an interesting take on escargot. You get the usual, snail in butter, but you also have it topped with mushrooms and some seasoning that had turned the butter into a redish hue. It was not my favourite escargot especially since I was expecting a bit more chewiness from the escargot. The complimentary bread was useful in soaking up all the sauce. Would not get again. Blackened chicken - I did not expect chicken breast, but I was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was super juicy on the inside and the skin ontop was intact and crispy. The glaze/sauce that came with the chicken was fabulous. If you can't have steak, I would highly recommend trying the chicken. A bit busy and hard to get seats, but you can see why. The keg has quickly become a favourite of mine. Friendly, dependable, and with consistent better quality food. I had the prime rib with cauliflower mash and the wedge salad. Our team went for our xmas lunch this year (our company should get a discount considering that this location is a frequent go to). What is a highlight is that the orders can be made prior, so the food can be brought to the tableside short after arrival. There were about 15 of us, and the area which we were seated was private and relatively noise free. The service was attentive and good, with water being refreshed and the little breads served nice and warm for sharing. The website may be a tad misleading, as there is a lunch menu on the website with offers as Fish and Chips which are not offered at the location. When we called to make thebresrrvation, that is when we found out. So there are no lunch specials in December, which kind of threw us off guard. I had the veggie burger and fries, which actually was quite good. Others had the usual offerings, which looks cooked to order, such as the sirloin and other steaks. This is by far the best The Keg location I've ever been to. It's to the point where I live in Richmond Hill and I still convince my family to drive up to Aurora because of the impeccable service I always receive at this location. We came here to celebrate the birthdays of two of my family members - which we told to the server, Deen, when he inquired about if we had chosen to dine at this location for any special occasion. Deen was an excellent server on all accounts! He was polite, friendly, helpful, and very accommodating to the numerous requests my family members kept asking of him. I think he deserves praise as it was pretty busy for a Sunday night all around. [Prime Rib] $39 - I ordered the 14 oz one with mashed potatoes! There was a slight hiccup that I did notice, but it's through no fault of our waiter as they typically have other people serve the food. Among my family members, 4 of us ordered the 14 oz prime rib, but when they arrived, they were all of varying sizes. Mine looked like it was barely 12 oz where as my mom and my grandma shared one, and theirs looked to be about 16 - 18 oz.... I know it's quality over quantity, which was definitely delivered as the prime rib was extremely tender and flavorful. When you can actually select a quantity though, like how many ounces you want, I do feel like they should try their best to keep it consistent. To finish off the meal, Deen distracted my two family members that were celebrating a birthday so that he could have his coworkers bring us two Billy Miner Pies! Pretty normal Keg experience. Always busy in the weekends, good service and solid food. We were here for an early seating for a large party: 5pm for 30 guests. It was a 2 hr seating which isn't really long enough, we ended up not ready to leave until 7:15pm. Appetizers were pretty good, the warm bread and whipped butter is awesome. Had a late Valentine's Day lunch here on Friday. Beautiful location compared to Scarborough. We were seated immediately and the service was excellent! This was surprising as they opened at 2 and the restaurant filled with 15 minutes! Great selection of wines and cocktails. My hubby had the filet and I had the 14 oz prime rib! Both were done to perfection. Pineapple cake was delicious. Loved the sourdough bread but could do without the flavours in the whipped butter. 4.5 stars. Came for another Keg meal with another couple. A very busy night. Our server, Zach, was very good, We had a few small problems with one of the wines and he immediately fixed the issues with no fuss. Nice to see a restaurant that empowers its staff. As we often do, we shared a appetizer. This time fried cauliflower pieces. They were excellent and not too heavily fried, if that makes sense. We then shared a 14oz prime rib, medium rare with a twice baked potato, asparagus, roasted pepper and fried onions. It was perfect and very tasty. All in all it was a great meal. Since the pandemic and lockdown, we haven't been to the Keg in years! For Valentine's day, my husband booked reservations weeks in advance and so glad that he did. I've missed eating in. Our reservations was for 8:10pm and it was super busy. We got parking as soon as we got there. The host checked our vaccine passport and ID and then we had to check ourselves in at the front desk. We got there minutes before 8 and got seated after 10 mins of waiting. After we got checked in and they gave us the buzzer - they told us to wait to the side where the washrooms were. It was very odd. That is a very narrow area to get to the washrooms and of course as more people kept showing up and being instructed to go the the side - it was more of a pain to move for the people who wanted to use the washroom. It was possibly the worst idea ever. The entrance was clearing up but no, we had to stay to the side of the washrooms... They definitely need a better system. One of the host can instruct take outs and deliveries to one side and all the people who had reservations can wait on the opposite side where there was room for people to wait. Waiting and blocking the entrance to the washroom was such a horrible idea. After we got seated, we were greeted by Dahlia who was our server. This completely turned our experience for the better. She was amazing, friendly, attentive and such a pleasure. She was the best server we ever had and it really shows that she loves her job (which she mentioned was a part time job). Good for her. We opted out of the prefixed menu. We got the calamari for starters. Husband ordered the 8oz top sirloin steak with mash and a heniken draft. I've ordered the french onion soup and tuna tartare for my entree with a glass of Jacob creek shiraz. The calamari was delicious, hot and not greasy. Their sweet chilli sauce was so good and the battered jalapeños took it to the next level. Bubba got his caesar salad and said it was aok, nothing special. My french onion soup was soooooooooooooo good. I will forever always get the french onion soup here. It blew my expectations and even though it burnt the roof of my mouth, it was so worth it. It was my favorite thing in the entire menu. Dahlia noticed that our food did not come at the same time and Tony was waiting for his steak while I was stuffing my face with the hot soup - she offered to take it back and bring it all out at the same time which was nice of her but it was ok. My hubby was still digesting the calamari and his salad. When we declined and said it was no need, she offered us a dessert on the house which was so nice of her. After two or three minutes, my husband's entree came. The steak came out perfectly to his liking. He was one happy man. After I've finished my soup, I was so stuffed but kept trying to eat my tuna tartare. It was good, needed a bit more sesame oil or salt. Couldn't finish so we packed up the left over steak and tuna tartare and asked for the bill. She reminded us about the dessert on the house and I said I will take the mini creme brule, this woman brought me the BIG ONE and as miserable I was from bring soo full and my pants cutting off my circulation - I WAS PRETTY dang happy. She was the best server I ever had and joked that I should just unbutton my pants. Such a wonderful night and it didn't end there. Food rating would be 3 stars if based solely on blue cheese wedge salad and baked potato, but steaks were very good and the service was outstanding! Wedge salad was ho hum-wouldn't take much to enhance the dressing. There was only a small smattering of diced tomatoes. I think the baked potato maybe was old? The attention to detail in this regard enhances the whole experience for me and establishes this restaurant chain as one of the elite. I'm not flashy; wearing jeans is dressing up for me, but I'm still treated so well. Suffice to say, service was amazing, maybe even a bit better than other Keg restaurants I've been to. Super friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The Keg's food, however, is what you keep coming back for. In my opinion, they have the best steaks that money can buy. And then they have amazing appetizers and desserts. Personal favs of mine that we ordered were garlic bread, calamari, and finished with a Billie miner pie. Not a fulsome review because we never actually got seated. We had a reservation at 7:15. We checked in at 7:15 and were told the wait was about 20 minutes - a little disappointing but we understand. The lobby and corridors near the lobby were crammed with people waiting for their tables, so we should have known something was up. During our wait, numerous people went back to the counter to get an update, and invariably we overheard the manager (I assume she was the manager) tell them that a bunch of tables were leaving in the next 5 minutes. This happened more than once. However, we still waited... and waited ... and waited. At 8:00, at this point 45 minutes after our reservation time, we asked for an update and - surprise! - were told that a bunch of tables were leaving in the next 5 minutes. We decided we would wait for 10 more minutes and would leave if we weren't seated by then. Guess what? We were not seated and we left. Look, I understand a restaurant can be busy, but the focus should be on those with reservations. We just got the feeling that everyone was lumped together (walk-ins and reservations). If you can't seat a reservation within 55 minutes of the reservation time, you are messing up. The management at the restaurant failed, and really there are only two possible explanations: (a) they overcommitted in accepting walk-ins, and everyone suffered, or (b) if I am wrong and they weren't accepting walk-ins, they do not even have the ability to service the reservations they accepted. We like the Keg, but we won't try to come to this one again. read more

Obviously the reason you go is for their steaks and there simply is no better anywhere else. Always cooked how you ask it, super flavourful with solid presentation. I've tried most of the different cuts but the sirlion seems to be what I hover back to. My girlfriend is a huge fan of their seafood here too. The customer service is simply the best around. They make sure you're happy with your meal and the supervisor / manager has checked up on us a few times that we've gone too! He actually offered us a few dessert once because the time to get a table was longer than expected - I didn't even complain about it! Be mindful that they get very busy, especially on Saturdays. Best thing to do is to book a reservation because otherwise you could be waiting over an hour and their waiting area isn't the biggest. If you want to treat yourself to the aforementioned foods, then go to The Keg! read more

It's a very classic and traditional steak restaurant and it's not too exciting. Service has always been good here and the waiters work hard. That being said, weekends and holidays are the biggest b word ever. Expect an hour wait at LEAST. This place gets packed easily and it's craaaazy. The venue is huge too and it's not super spacious between tables, so it feels like sardines in a can. The steak is good. It's nothing to write home about but what really puts me off sometimes is I order a $40-50 steak and they literally give me 3 beans and 1 red pepper slice. Not even joking. After a bacon wrapped anything I would like to at least pretend I am healthy! I give the Keg a 3.5. Going with a 3 star on this one. Although the steak was excellent and my complaint was resolved to my satisfaction, I feel the situation was handled a bit unprofessionally. Long story short, came here for dinner with some coworkers to celebrate a retirement. I ordered the teriyaki sirloin with a side of asparagus and a side of brussel sprouts. The asparagus was sad. Just plain ol' jane asparagus; steamed and flavourless so I added chimichurri sauce to them. The sprouts were good but the serving size was too small. In previous Keg experiences, the brussel sprouts have been generously portioned to which I don't mind paying extra for them. I explained how disappointed I was to our server who right away corrected the bill. I wanted to explain to him I don't normally make a fuss (thus why I'm on Yelp - passive aggressive) so I showed him a photo of my sprouts from another location. I wanted him to see the portions. He asked if he could take my phone to show his manager how the other locations are losing out on money. I felt like a tattletale! Maybe this is my doing but I guess I thought portion sizing was across the board at all locations. Don't assume! Anyway, I finished my meal with a bowl of vanilla ice cream and toasted almonds. Now that was incredible! Would I return? Likely. If my friends were out and about and suggested here, I would probably tag along. Excellent experience! My husband and I came celebrate our daughter's first birthday. So to start, they do first come first-served Friday and Saturday nights however they mentioned to me that if I call them on our way they will put my name on the waitlist so that way when we get there it is as if we had been waiting there. I was very impressed with this and I was so happy that they had this system. Second, we were there for about 10 minutes and we got our table! Fantastic service! We were then seated in a booth located in the back where it was less noisy which was great for kids and being in a booth seating fits our car seat bucket. 3rd, our server, Paul. Aside from greeting us with a smile and enthusiasm, he offered both our daughters a plate of veggie sticks and crackers! I felt so appreciative as the kids were hungry and it was nice to have something for them to munch on. He was attentive made sure that everything that we needed was covered. The only thing I wish he would asked us if we were there for an occasion as it was that we were celebrating our daughter's first birthday but not a big deal. Keep up the great work! I've been to this location a few times now and have yet to leave a review. The Keg has become a bit of an annual tradition for my boyfriend and I when celebrating our anniversary. Given how much of a sucker we are for steak, it's completely appropriate. This place has the tendency to become ram packed very quickly on any given night, so it's advisable to make a reservation. (Note: They don't take reservations Friday - Sunday, don't ask.) Luckily for us, our four year anniversary landed on a Thursday, so we were in business. We ended up arriving 10-15 minutes late do to heavy rain and poor visibility thanks to heavy brume, and I was a bit apprehensive due to the number of people queuing for a table alone that they might have let go of our reservation. Thankfully, that wasn't the case and we were quickly seated much to the chagrin of those waiting for a table. When we were seated, we noticed the plates on the table were still showing some food residue, so we promptly asked for a new set, which the waiter was happy to oblige. Once he returned, we put in our order: Mushroom Neptune, Baked Brie, Peppercorn Steak and a Blue Cheese Crusted Filet Mignon. We're sort of accustomed to the long wait times associated with attending dinner at The Keg, so you can imagine our surprise when 10-15 minutes later, our appetizers were in front of us. With our meals quickly following suit 10 minutes after that. The baked brie is a must for cheese lovers. I'm not normally a fan of brie on its own, but something about it being baked and slathering pesto or red pepper jelly on top of it makes it a truly divine experience. The Mushroom Neptune on the other hand, wasn't for me - no fault of The Keg's, but just not palatable to me. You can mask a mushroom with cheese and crabmeat all day long, and it's still a rubbery mushroom. This worked to my boyfriend's favour as this is pretty much the only time and way he'll eat mushrooms - more for him! The peppercorn steak carries just the amount of kick to it and melts in your mouth. Coupled with the twice baked potato (an absolute must as your accompaniment), your taste buds will be on an unreal trajectory. All in all, this is probably the most memorable experience we've had at The Keg in awhile and we're looking forward to next year! read more

We ordered 2 apps (escargot and calamari), 2 beers, 2 steaks main course. We were just chatting enjoying our time there. We waited awhile and the steaks just came without our apps. We told the server we never got our apps. For us, it was not a huge deal. But the manager came to apologize to us for forgetting our apps and took it off from the bill. Mistakes can happen, especially such a busy night. We appreciate how the situation was handle. Would definitely return. read more

Second time here. We (group of two) also came right at 4:10PM on a Friday night (yesterday). We were seated immediately after we were greeted. Didn't wait long for our drinks, menu, order and our actual dishes. I gotta say thank you to Adrijana, our server for the evening for her professional attention to our dinner. She had a trainee with her and no glitches to be had. Between us two, we ordered scotch, wine, sangria, and no appetizers because, come on, the meat is a yummy appetizer/main course: and dessert. Well, we did have actual dessert too because it was a first night out after so long. We had the Keg Classic: fillet mignon with mashed potatoes, and New York Striploin with mashed potatoes, both medium rare. Deliciously cooked. Just the way we wanted our meat cooked. I went this evening and ordered the Mediterranean Cauliflower. The service was good however the food didn't live up to Keg Standards. The cauliflower was over cooked and cold it was accompanied by couscous which was also cold. There wasn't alot of cauliflower it was mostly couscous. Their previous steak cauliflower was better. I was told that the couscous was not supposed to be warm because it melts. I have never heard of couscous melting. read more

The Keg used to be a great restaurant and some of them still are, but I feel like they are drowning in a sea of upscale casual dining chains and can't figure out how to tread water. This location doesn't take reservations - and if you call on a Thursday they will insist that it is impossible to book a table for Saturday night. But if you show up on Saturday at 5:30pm (too early already, in my books) you will find that they happily accept call-ins and call backs from earlier in the afternoon. The result is that a 5:30 arrival for more than 2 people could mean a 7-8pm seating while streams of people who called in when they opened file-in in front of you. That's called a reservation system to me, and if that's the system you want to use, why not tell people that when they call? Booked New Years at this location... they took a reservation for 9pm for 6 people. Walked in at 8:50 and it was completely packed as expected. After fighting my way to the front desk... I advised them that we were here, and within 10 minutes, we were plucked out of the crowd and brought to our table. Not a big thing... but they handled the crazy crowd well and delivered nicely on the reservation. My friends and I were pleased... and the food is always great. :) Happy New Years!! read more

We went for a nice prime rib dinner with the whole family. We went early so that we wouldn't have to wait as you normally would if you get there later. We were promptly seated and given our menus. They brought out the bread and a kids snack plate for the little ones. This is always a huge hit for the young ones as it comes with fruit, crackers, veggies and dip. It keeps the kids occupied and therefore buys you time. We ordered the prime rib classic and started with a Caesar salad which was great as usual. The prime rib dinners came out shortly after and cooked to perfection. I got the twice baked potato which just melts in your mouth and honestly is their best side dish. It also came with roasted peppers, mushrooms and green beans. The veggies were a bit over roasted, but still good. The au juis and horse radish were a perfect compliment to the prime rib. We decided to get creme brûlée for dessert and the Kristo coffee. The creme brûlée was absolutely perfection. The top layer was nice and crispy. I devoured it in no time. The coffee was a nice treat as well. The service overall was perfection. Our waiter was very attentive and I appreciated the great service we got. read more

Definitely not one of the better Keg locations out there. The service is very inconsistent and when it's bad, it's really bad. Unfriendly, slow and sloppy. As with most Kegs, the food is consistent and generally good. Can't beat Billy Miner pie! The Aurora location isn't very clean, which will become apparent as soon as you are seated; the furniture and menus are sticky and often stink as if they've been wiped down with a dirty bar rag. A recent disachange we noticed during our last 3 visits; they used margarine in the mashed potatoes and for the sourdough bread. This wasn't stated anywhere and had we known they made this swap we would have avoided these items. Not only did they taste awful, but margarine is not something we allow our kids to eat. There are so few places in Aurora to go, so this location is nearly always busy despite its shortcomings. We still go, but now limit our visits to drinks and apps, and cut things short when the service is lousy. read more

I used to go to Keg in Aurora often- with family and friends. The experience has been OK most of the times. However today my husband and I had the worst experience there. We went for appetizers and for the famous Billie Minor cake. When Shauna ( the waitress) brought the cakes we noticed that the usual chocolate and caramel toppings were not spread to look appealing and were rather splattered on one side of the cake and the amount of almonds was scant. I tried to politely ask if they maybe have new staff as the cakes didnt look as usual. She confirmed that the "salad bar" person who serves the cakes is new and that's the reason why they don't look as usual. My husband didn't mind and started eating. She offered to bring us new cakes. I agreed but my husband was OK with his. Shauna took his cake too as well as his spoon ( although he already started eating it). He got very upset as he sort of fought for the spoon with her and tried to hold the plate too. Someone else brought "new" cakes ( I am assuming the manager) and explained that they have a new chocolate supplier and the chocolate is thick and they are unable to decorate the plates as they used to. The worse thing was not the cake presentation; nor the smaller sizes of the second time when they brought them ( they looked like they cut the original pieces as the cake was melted) It was the fact that Shauna did not come to our table to ask how was the food from the moment we seat there or to apologize for the experience with the cakes at the end. Truly disappointing as we had this restaurant as a go to place when we wanted to relax or take friend out for dinner. read more
