The food was amazing and ambiance was very nice and elegant. My only caveat is the fact that the waitress came by with the bill and said that she already chose the tip for us. It was bizarre but I didn't question it at the time since there were people with me and I was going to tip anyways so I just went with it. When I asked one of my friends that came before, she told me that they never had that done to them and that it was weird that it happened to me. Another thing was how I indicated on the reservation that it was for a birthday and the hostess didn't mention a single thing nor did our waitress. Why make us indicate on the reservation if it doesn't matter? My friend told me that for their anniversary the waitress told them to choose a dessert on the house. Venue 5/5 Lots of parking in the plaza and in front od restaurant. Wheel chair accessible, wave to open doors. Giant bar in middle of restaurants. We went on weekend to enjoy the beautiful weather on their patio. The patio is quite large, with shade and TVs. There are lots of booths for large groups as well. Service 3/5 It wasn't too busy when we went on a weekend (2pm). There were only a few other tables seated outside with us, but the waitress took quite a bit of time to get our orders in for the drinks and then come out with the drinks before she came back to take our food orders. Getting the bills at the end took too long as well so we ended up going to the bar to pay the bill. Food 4/5 The burger looked and tasted really good from what was said at our table. I had the steak bites with a side Caesar for lunch. I wish the steak was cooked a bit rarer as it was quite chewy due to it being fully cooked almost. It has 3 in the serving and we had 5 people in our party so we added 2. The oddity. The app was $24 they then charged us $8 x 3 for 2 more. I think an error must have been made. Need to contact them. I celebrated my birthday here at Chop Steakhouse in Woodbridge. Their food and drinks didn't disappoint and I loved how friendly the staff were. We ordered some appetizers like steak bites, chili garlic shrimp, and we also ordered the COMMUNITY BREAD which I highly recommend because for every order of the Winnipeg rye bread, Chop Steakhouse donates a meal to a local food bank. Let's all support this cause. For our mains we ordered the ribeye steak and steak oscar which were both perfectly cooked. The Sangria is refreahing and fruity, but the Carajillo was our winner. Anything with coffee liqueur just tastes bomb. Because it was our first time dining there, our incredible server gave us this bread and dip appetizer that was super yummy, we tried to savour it throughout dinner and cleaned it. Birria spring rolls tasted as amazing as it sounds. Having the tender meat with the crispy wrapper soaked in the consume was incredible. We just wish there was more of it lol. Chili Garlic Shrimp was seasoned so nicely amd the sauce was so good, we asked our server for more bread to dip in that sauce. Now the steaks. They were cooked to perfection. Started off with a platter of East coast and West coast oysters, so fresh it felt like I was smacked in the face by Aquaman. No offense but West coast got my attention. A beet & goat cheese and an avocado shrimp salad eased my guilt on the meat extravaganza that was to come The New York steak was absolutely cooked to medium rare perfection seared to a nice slightly salty crust, deserves a chef's kiss. Prime rib was juicy and tender and also came out a perfect medium rare, not like those hideously gray colored overcooked prime ribs in other wannabe steak places where the prime rib offered is an after thought. Who orders a fish dish in a steak house, well me the infamous disruptive diner ordered the miso Salmon. Salmon was cooked to my preference, not dry it was actually moist, tender and flakey. Miso flavor was very light. The Prime beef dip was basically a huge slab of prime rib in a crusty baguette with a side ramekin of exquisite beef dipping gravy. Finished this exceptionally excellent lunch with their pineapple upside down cake w/ vanilla ice cream, sticky toffee parfait and their dessert trio ( creme brulee. NY cheesecake w/ raspberry compote and a flourless chocolate torte). My god, if you're a dessert lover, you just landed in the promise land. Went to Chop Steakhouse today. The ambiance was really nice , definitely feels high-end and great for a special meal out. We started with the chili shrimp appetizer, which was delicious. But the main menu was a bit confusing , there were no clear sides listed, so we weren't sure what came with each dish. My boyfriend ordered the rib eye and I had the chicken with rice, but both dishes came out with the same vegetables ( beans) which felt repetitive. The steak was supposed to be medium well but came out too chewy, so we sent it back to be cooked well done. We went for the first time to celebrate our anniversary. Right away we noticed the table was all grimy and sticky. Our steaks which we ordered medium based in their chart on the menu and was supposed to be light pink throughout was what would be considered rare.. they were red inside. Both my husband's and mine. Overall, the quality of the steaks were not up to expectations and in fact were among the worst quality we have ever had at a restaurant. Nobody came by to check on how our meal was until 15 minutes after we were served. I never complain about a meal or send food back but I didn't have a choice. There were a few other issues but think I have said enough.....except, a family came into the restaurant carrying a small dog and were seated! It was not a therapy dog.I was sitting facing the entrance and nobody at the front desk questioned them. I believe this is against the Health regulations. The interior looks really upscale. We came on a quiet night, so it was extremely spacious for the three of us. We had the french onion soup, crab cakes, meatball with sunday sauce, and prime rib. Overall I found the food to be good, but nothing otherworldly. Given the price point, decor, and my parents positive feedback about this place, my expectations were set quite high, but personally I didn't find a huge difference between this place and The Keg. Came here for a Monday evening dinner. (Scroll to bottom for a TLDR version) Service was great, we were seated promptly and our server was really nice. Ambiance was really pleasant as well. From the lighting to the decoration, you could see a lot of thought was made into creating a nice atmosphere. They even have a "seating" waiting area by the washrooms which I really appreciate. Okay, for food. We ordered the mushroom and escargots, miso glazed salmon and smoke rib eye. The escargots were really yummy and the bread it came with was perfect when it came to pairing with the escargots. With the miso glazed salmon, I liked the way they cooked the salmon. The miso glaze was subtle but it really allowed the salmon to come through. The and wild rice pilaf the seasonal vegetables were great with the salmon as well. The zucchini was well seasoned and cooked and the rice, although on the blander side of things was nice in terms of texture and fluffiness. My partner ordered a smoked rib eye, medium rare with mash potatoes roasted garlic and shallots. The cut of the meat was a little chewy (hence only the 4 stars) but it was still beautifully cooked. The star of the show was definitely the garlic and shallots. The caramelization allowed for the natural sweetness of the garlic and shallots to come through and really compliment the steak. To end of the night we ordered a mini New York cheesecake that was served with blueberry sauce. The blueberries were fresh, tart and was nice touch to contrast the heaviness of the cheesecake. I loved how you could order a "mini" version of dessert to end the night so you still get to satisfy that sweet tooth or to try more variations. I would definitely come back to try more of their food. P.S. Pro tip: Ask for the bar or patio seats if you want to enjoy their happy hour menu. Chop Steakhouse definitely knows how to handle beef, but it is a little pricier. Slow roasted prime rib is a lot of work and time, so I think it's worth eating out, especially when they cooked it to perfect, very tender! Steak was also nicely cooked to medium rare and with a generous portion of vegetables. Service was good, considering our waitress also had a large party to serve, she made sure we didn't wait to long if we needed her. Ordered Steamed Mussels w/Garlic, tomatoes, onions-$15 - The mussels were plumped, and the sauce that accompany this is well flavoured. Steak Bites- $19- Not sure on the cut of meat, but its decently tender. Tuna Tataki- $10- The tuna slices were a bit on a small size but not the best choice. Drinks: Sparkling Sangria-$7 & Southern Hospitality- $7. Both drinks were decently taste and refreshing without over-powering of alcohol. Mains: Prime Rib Large w/Mash. Pot and veggies- $44- Got it at medium. Nicely cooked and tender as per prime rib usual. Braised Beef Pappardelle- $32- They use flat egg noodles in a dark beef sauce of sort. Wife enjoyed it but it was a bit salty. Dessert: Mini Chocolate Souffle Torte- $6- Wife didn't say too much about it but its a slice of cake that looks like ice cream cake of sort. My son said the prices were expensive but it's his birthday and it's a great reason to show he is loved. We had the Furious Fries as the appetizer. The fries are sprinkled with porcini salt, a hint of truffle, rosemary, garlic, and something called grana padano ‍. It's really good. It's a new item on the menu. They came out hot and incredibly good. I thought they were just go to average but they were great. I just wish it was a lightly large portion for two people. But hey, it's just an appetizer right? I ordered the Seared Scallops with the rice pilaf and sautéed mushrooms. The mushrooms came a little late for my entree but our incredible server, Josephine, made up for the delay. My son ordered The Chop Burger (loaded) that is 100% Canadian beef, aged cheddar, and bacon on a brioche bun. He said it incredible and the cheese set it off. The restaurant was full of laughter and smiling faces of people enjoying family and loved ones. The atmosphere was great. It's a good spot for a date. My son said that it's dark and he likes brighter places but it was good. We settled up with his birthday dessert which crème brûlée. It was his first time eating it. He enjoyed but felt, "it needs chocolate or something". Lol I had the chocolate tort which is always my favorite. The men's bathroom was clean despite the lack of soap in the dispensers for all three sinks. So I was disappointed on that considering that we still have a lot people spreading Covid everywhere. Chop is a great places to go - Chop has tasty food overall, service is good and ambiance is nice. I'd recommend going for the chop burger - I'd say it's a hidden gem on the menu. The steaks are good but they don't impress me relative to the other items on the menu surprisingly. The drinks are watery and not super tasty so I'd pass on going here for drinks with friends - joey's or cactus club drinks are way better. read more

I've been coming to Chop for a few years now. Each time I'm amazed at the fantastic service and the high quality food. Highly recommend the smoked ribeye; looking at the other reviews I see I'm not alone! The smoked ribeye has such fantastic flavour and the meat itself is cooked perfectly. Chop is also great about gluten free options; each menu item is clearly labelled and the servers are knowledgeable about gluten free substitutions. A manager always brings my food to the table, making sure it's not carried with gluten food which is definitely appreciated. By 7 no food...the waitress said it would be a couple more minutes,(2 business men arrived and had table across as did a table of 3). By 7.30 the table of 3 who had arrived at 7 had all their order and drinks...WE STILL HAD NO FOOD I beckoned for the waitress several times and then she comes and says the manager says he'll offer a free dessert with your meal.Are you kidding me ? We left....yes...left...I didn't pay for the drinks nor the steak bites that were tough as nails YES LEFT....( the other table of 2 were still sitting no food as well. This manager has a gold mine. Totally surrounded by Hilton hotel and only corporate offices and not many other offerings. Unfortunately, if he is incapable of handling the situation or too cheap to hire staff required..this franchise should be reviewed and he should be removed.
