I am with this dentist since 2011. They are usually very good but today, I had to cancel because my car had to be brought to garage as the belt got shredded. Obviously, this car cannot be driven and I unfortunately I had to cancel. They told me the will charge me $100.00 because of short notice. I get that but since I have no car to get there it just pissed me off. This is an enormous bad business practice as I am sure the can fill that spot. My disappointment is high. This is malpractice and narrow minded and a big lack of understanding and not willing to help out. But the phone was hang up on me without saying good by. Not professional either. But ! One year after implant service, a supposedly 3 magnet bridge, only to find out has only 1 magnet, found out when that one magnetic implant fell out. Now causes Great ANXIETY to go back and face big prices again! I find Dr Degrado and his team to be outstanding in their care, clear in their explanations, and well able to handle the complex problems my mouth has produced. At my age, I have been through a lot of dental offices in the US and Europe, multiple surgeries over the decades. No one has provided more skilled care and comfort. The entire staff at Stamford Dental work as a team. When I needed to change an appointment due to an emergency situation the receptionist staff were quick to get back to me with alternate dates. They were kind and very understanding. The hygienists have been very thorough and have given me many useful tips. Dr. Delgrado has always found a way to fit me in when I had dental emergencies. Nice staff and they do good work but the business side is run horribly. Me and my husband were both given appointments with cleans never being informed that they did not take our insurance. I was not informed of them not taking my insurance till I returned for another dental procedure. Today we received a bill for 1200 dollars for 2 cleaning which we were not prepared for because we were never informed they didn't take our insurance. I would never have proceeded had I known my insurance was not taken. read more

They squeezed me in on a Saturday and for someone with a traditional 9-5 M-F schedule this was much appreciated and a rare find. So happy with my first experience and the pricing!!! They had a $99 dental cleaning special for those without insurance. I called all around Stamford and they had the best price! When you walk in the staff is very welcoming! They have coffee, hot chocolate, water bottles, and other goodies in the waiting room! Typically dental visits are never pleasant, but this one was! The dental hygienist that cleaned my teeth was very gentle, and patient with my many questions! They were completely honest and helpful! They also do lots of charity events to help the community, which is always a good thing! It's great to know there are still good places like this around! read more

Dental Group of Stamford's tagline is "Professional Dentistry for a Reasonable Price." I was going in for a free consultation and was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and courtesy that I found here. Since I don't have insurance I was worried about how I'd be treated but they help patients who are on medicaid, husky, and a host of other govt programs in addition to private insurance companies. The dental hygenist was very nice and so was the dentist, Dr. Gogate who has a sense of humor. The office also provides door to door shuttle service so I was picked up at my work in Greenwich and driven to the office in Stamford in a new, comfortable mini van. Their X ray room was a bit messy- cardboard boxes all over and looked as if they were moving. Pass this along to people who don't have insurance since this is one of the few places I've experienced that will work with you. read more

This is by far the best experience I've had at the dentist. I went for a routine cleaning and Nicole the hygienist was absolutely the best! She was so meticulous in her cleaning and I felt no pain whatsoever. Dr. Messinger was also very nice , comforting and explained my treatment plan. I want to first start out by saying it has been at least a couple of years or longer since I have been a patient of Dr. Jack DeGrado's and now I am going to a great Dentist/ Prosthodontists. I would not recommend Dr. Jack DeGrado at all for any work in your mouth he cost me a small fortune and caused a lot more damage in my mouth out of his greed and negligence that was at my expense orally, financially and emotionally. He is so pleasant and nice during your first consultation but that is not the real person at all. After you commit and he has your money you will see a different side to Dr. Jekyll Mr. Hide. He is very arrogant and all he cares about is making a lot of money and doing the work fast no matter if it is done correctly or not. He is not a conservative doctor at all. He will cost you more money then necessary and the work still will not be done correctly. The office wants to be paid before the work is done because it protects them against the bad work that will be done in your mouth and then you have no recourse. This is a bad practice believe me I know first hand. Dr. Jack DeGrado is in a rush to do the job and finish. As a patient of Dr. Jack DeGrado he ended up being my worst nightmare. I regret ever going to Stamford Dental Group for the negligence that Dr. DeGrado performed on my teeth. I had to pay another Prosthodontists to repair his work. read more

I found this ofice while researching dentists who do sleep dentistry for patients who have dental anxiety. they advertise that they deal with fearful patients, and can work with an anesthesiologist to work on patients while sedated. They did the preliminary exam, made up a care plan, coordinated with the Periodontist and anesthesiologist. They asked me to go through their financing company and get all of the financial issues in order to have all of the work done at once under anesthesia. I did as they asked, then after weeks of being run around and in pain, they told me my dental anxiety was too high, and they referred me to a student dental clinic in the Bronx. Not only do they want to push me off on another dentist, but they want to send me to one of the most dangerous neighborhoods in NYC. Do not use this office. They do not care about their patients or those of us with dental anxiety. read more

I went in for a consultation and found it to be the strangest experience. One of the assistance basically assesses you with what I thought was a Scientology like questionnaire. Some of the questions concern money and the importance of cost vs the appearance of your teeth. You go through a few gatekeepers before meeting the dentist. When I finally did meet him he was aloof and uninterested in my case. I felt like i was on a hidden camera show. Staff was pleasant enough and office appeared clean but it was just a strange unfriendly, unhelpful experience. I also see he advertises like crazy now which may or may not be a good sign. read more

I had a horrible experience at this Dental Clinic. Upon getting in the chair they were having an issue with the equipment not working properly...I should have run out then, but unfortunately I stayed. The female dentist who looked to be of Indian (India) decent started filling a cavity...and right during the middle of the procedure the assistant looked alarm and motioned something to her. I later found out..after the novacaine wore off..that she had drilled a hole in my lip. I could hardly eat for over a week due to the pain. This place has since been closed down, and now I am trying to locate them to retrieve my x-rays...but to no avail. I have been going to Dr. DeGrado for years and I cannot say enough good things about him and his team. They work with me to ensure that I have insurance coverage, my time (I live in Bridgeport so it takes a bit of time to get there-that should be enough for you to know how much I love them!) and my payment terms. My teeth look fabulous, my hygenist, Lynne, has helped me so much with issues that I had and happy to say that following her advice, my gums are 80% better. I was very disappointed with Stamford Dental Group because I expected much better service after reading these reviews. I had a filling done which should have been covered by my insurance, yet I still got a bill from Stamford Dental. When I contacted my insurance company, I was told the same tooth had been filled within the last 4 months. When I called Stamford Dental about this, I was told the tooth (which had originally been filled by a different dentist's office), hadn't been filled properly the first time around, and therefore had to be "fixed" by Stamford Dental. What annoyed me was why I hadn't been told the tooth wasn't originally filled properly. I would have contacted my old dentist about fixing it! Now I have to pay for a filling that should have been covered by insurance. Aggravated that I'm out $160 and I have to find a new, trustworthy dentist :( read more

Do not go here if you value your time, sanity and money. They have basic diagnostic tests performed and not tell you they are not covered by insurance. For services that are covered by insurance, they will still double charge you and not refund your money due to poor management. Avoid if you can. They charge way too much compare to other dentists in the area. They gave me a breakdown of charges and how much it will cost me after my approved by my insurance. And they "forgot" to include previous work done a week before. So I when I got the bill i coudln't believe my eyes. Ended up paying it because they said nothing can be done. I want to say that the staff is nice. My complaint is with Dr. Jack Degrado he is the dentist who practices Prosthodontics & he is the Dr. that did my dental work I had several teeth worked on by him. I did see him under a different last name then I have now. I saw him a several times. I have since had to have the work fixed by another dentist. Very unhappy with my experience with him and his work. I would not commit to a huge extensive amount of work which he was not happy about it; if it wasn't going to be a huge project he did not seem interested. I found him to be very unprofessional and in a hurry to get the work done when I was in his care. I felt uncomfortable the whole time he was working on my teeth as if he was in a rush to be done. Since having him do the work in my mouth on several teeth; I've had nothing but problems with the exact teeth he worked on. He was paid in full. Since then I had to pay another dentist to redo the work on the same teeth and I am finally not in discomfort any longer. I would not recommend Dr. Jack Degrado for any dental work. read more
