Great experience from start to finish. I stayed over thanksgiving weekend with my pup and it was wonderful. When they say pet friendly they mean it. I was so relieved to see soo many pets in the hotel that it eased my worries about bringing our pup to a hotel for the first time. The staff was super kind and my pup was very grateful for the pup cup at the Kiosk! The hotel itself had a bit of older feel from the outside but is nice and modern on the inside. The room was exactly what I was looking for and right next to the highway which made traveling throughout Fairfield county super easy! And don't worry you don't hear the highway at all. All of the staff were absolutely wonderful. The food in the Northern Lights Cafe and restaurant was delicious and reasonably priced. The entire facility was spotless, smelled clean and fresh. The hotel room was immaculate. The bedding was exquisite. Yet the mattress on my Queen-size bed was uneven, full of lumps and dips. I felt like I was sleeping on rocks. I was so uncomfortable that I spent most of my 4-day stay sleeping in the armchair. Customer service could not provide a mattress topper or change my room as the hotel was full. Instead, I was sent two flimsy blankets to use as additional cushioning on the bed. What a horrendous sleep experience for this senior traveler! read more

At a recent stay of only one night, upon checkout I asked the Front Desk agent for change of a $20 bill. Her reply was that she could not do it as her drawer was all 20's . She suggested I try the Starbucks which is in the Hotel Lobby. I went over there and asked the attendant for change of a $20. Same response. She did not have change. For a little over $200 a night (plus $20 / night parking), stayed here for a couple days; the entry to the parking garage was closed due to some maintenance around that area, so go through the Hertz entry around the corner. During the weekend, very busy parking (had to go all the way to the top) due to a convention in the building. Parking slip from the lobby desk. Convenient location to the businesses and train station in Stamford. Plenty of conference space. Slow parking deck elevator; I used the stairs and made it down before anyone on the elevator could. 15 stories of rooms. Staff was friendly and checked in quickly. The hotel itself feels a bit older; older carpets, older elevators, scrapes and dings and dust behind the desk and bed that are pretty thick don't lend it much help. They didn't have our main room trash can emptied from the prior tenants before we entered (we called and someone came to clean it out), and though we booked for 3 occupants, they had only 2 towels in the room. Hm, not exactly prepared there, but at least it didn't take long to get another set of towels. Outlets were loose; a few didn't provide current right without wiggling and the one by the desk was loose from the wall. Only one side of the King-sized bed has outlets; the other just has a light and outlet was behind the headboard, rendering it useless if you had someone that wanted to charge on that side. The bathroom has a sink inside, sliding door was sticky and hard to open. The double shower head was nice, though (the rain version at the top was helpful for washing hair). Standard TV, hair dryer, iron, laundry bag, mini-fridge (empty), coffee maker. Wifi for members was ok; the wireless signal throughout the building was good. As of Monday May 2nd 2022, the pool was permanently closed, so if you're looking for that, you'll be out of luck. Overall, had better Marriott experiences. This place is overdue for a renovation. Would do well with hardwood/fake wood floors and a cleanup of the lighting and colors. read more

This was by far, the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. It is old, dirty, and gross. I booked a king suite in concierge, and added my cat to the reservation, only to be told at check in, I wouldn't be allowed on the concierge floor due to the cat, and I was then put in 216. It was so filthy!!!! You could literally hear, every, single toilet flush in the entire hotel. I paid $900 for three nights of the grossest stay ever. I will be taking this to corporate. read more

First we are reward members of Marriott. We were given our room, and upon entering we noticed that he bed wasn't maid, the curtains/blinds were broken and the closet door was broken and off its hinges. Called downstairs and asked if they could change the bedding as we were only there one night. They could not because the cleaning staff had left for the day. The front desk person said all they could do was move us. We were NOT HAPPY at all about this, but moved down the hall. We were downgraded, but not refunded and $$. This section clearly had not been remodeled (or deep cleaned for a long time). Our shower had a huge water spot which was black (hopefully no mold), and the room and amenities were very worn. The fridge did not work, and we had to have it replaced. I let the front desk person know and he said he would have the hotel manager call me first thing tomorrow or Monday at the latest. That was 3 weeks ago. Their breakfast was good, but the hotel rooms really should be inspected before you assign someone to them. And if you promise a call to discuss a partial refund, or issues we had, you should call. read more

I was here for a frozen dessert food show. Marriott is a pretty big hotel. We rented one of their event rooms. Bathroom was cleaned and staff was very friendly. I can't give it a five star bc I didn't stay here. It was a bit out dated. But it served its purpose. Food show went well. We had an abundance of delicious desserts. I ate as much as I could. This place is not what it seem. I don't know how they have the rating they have but here is my view. 1. I pull up and construction is going on nowhere online did they say they had construction going on. I would never stay anywhere trying to relax and get away from the hustle of life with construction going. 2. The valet people were very rude. He did not even come open my door. He didn't even get my suitcase out just very rude not what I'm use to. 3. The room is outdated. The hotel is outdated, but I'm gonna just stick to the room. 4. The shower ceiling: is if you're over 5'7 you will not be able to take a shower. Your head will be hitting it. 5. They have popcorn ceilings in here if I would've seen this, I would've never ever selected this hotel 6. There was hair on the bottles on the bottom of the shower ( I never use hotel stuff any way but yuk) 7. The room was dusty. I am one of those people that come to a hotel I start cleaning with Clorox wipes, Lysol, bedbug spray everything, and when I start wiping the room, it was so dusty. 8. The air ducts and vents are so nasty. I have asthma and I cough all night. They have so much dust in them it started blowing out even tho I wiped the outside of the vents. 9. This is what made me check out early. There was no way I could breathe this in place and I think there was mold in the bathroom, so yeah, this is not the place to be. Attending a fundraiser dinner here tonight and I was impressed on the way they organized the flow of cars into the parking lot. They had multiple people directing you and you paid for your parking as you entered the hotel. It was reasonably priced at $7.00. The hotel is right off the turnpike and a block from the exit. The hotel lobby was comfortable and quiet. Our cocktail hour was well organized and plenty of bartenders and bars to accommodate the crowd. They served breaded chicken breast. The size of the portion was large and tasty, however it was dry and warm. The green beans and rice was tasty, but it also was not hot. A person on the table was a vegetarian and they had difficulty meeting her wishes. They gave her a plate of pasta, which looked like it was left over. They could of given her the vegetables that came with our meal , but a larger portion. read more

This hotel was conveniently located for where we planned to visit while in Stamford. Our room was very clean and welcoming, the staff was kind and helpful. The few little "issues" I could nitpick at aren't worth the review in light of the good customer service we received during booking, check in and check out. This hotel is sorely in need of renovations. It has great bones but everything screams outdated Marriott. That said I've found the rooms clean and the beds comfy. The concierge lounge is a big plus and makes this hotel bearable. But until they update it, I've enjoyed the Residence Inn nearby far better. read more

This was a last-minute decision to pull over and stay overnight. The traffic was horrendous. After driving 10 hours, we needed a longer break than just a dinner someplace. This place did not disappoint. Nice location. Easy to drive-up, check-in, unload luggage and then pull into parking garage. Like many hotels in a city, there is a fee for parking, but we didn't care at this point. Tip: look on Marriott's app for accommodations/rates first. When we went inside to get a room, I mentioned I told her they had availability online. She asked the rate and told me to book online first, because it was less than what she would be required to charge us as a walk-in. She saved us over $100. So, with that being said, superb service! Aside from that, they were really very nice regardless of where you were in the hotel. We opted to choose a local Marriott that we knew would have a restaurant in the hotel so we didn't have to leave to get dinner. There was no way I was driving anywhere for the rest of the night. The bed was incredibly comfortable. They had a couple bottles of complimentary water, a small fridge, coffee/tea, etc. It was really a pleasant stay and exactly what we needed to rejuvenate ourselves for the next morning for the final several hours of driving to get home. There is a Starbucks in the hotel, too. read more

The hotel was great and they brought us an extra bed, but our room was absolutely covered in what appears to be human blood. About a pint in the chair, and 9 ounces on the left side of the bed. If you get the blood pillow here, flipping it to the other side can help. Room is surprisingly not haunted by those who clearly died here. read more

At the check in even though I had a confIrmstion that the agent could see on her end she apparently couldn't verify it. The excuse is that the method of payment aka points were not visible to her. Instead of dealing with this either expeditiously or professionally after 30 minutes I was threatened that they might have to charge the card I had given for incidentals for the full night effectively double charging me for the room. At this absurdity I asked why I would be doubly charged and her response was Well? As she proceeded to talk under her breath. I asked to speak to the manager who refused to speak with me for she said that she was too busy covering another area. I had to call the 800 number to get it straightened out. After over 40 minutes I was able to get a room key. Rode up in an elevator with broken floor only too open the door to my moldy smelling room. So much for a restful respite or making me feel like a valued guest. read more

Probably among the worst hospitality experiences I've had in recent memory. I checked in the night before and indicated my arrival time being 9pm knowing we'd be rolling in later in the day. When we arrived, it was absolute chaos. The entire front of the building had families seemingly waiting around, and so many cars you couldn't pull into the lot. I parked and went in to check in and found another 20 or 30 people also in the lobby. I got into the check in line with one individual working. A woman told me "good luck, they got no rooms." When it was finally my turn, the individual said very simply, we have no rooms. When I asked how that was possible, he said holiday weekend, we overbooked, sorry. I asked if they were arranging other accommodations, what is their plan, as he was not really communicating any next step. He offered to take my name and call me if something opened up. I couldn't believe my ears. Family in tow, we couldn't chance waiting around a lobby with no timeline for a room to open up or them to walk us to a different property. I've stayed at Marriott's most of my business life, probably more years in these rooms than I'd like to admit due to work travel, never in my life have I seen something like this. Sure, a few rooms over booked, it happens. This was chaos. I'm extremely disappointed in this experience, with Marriott, we made our own plan b, no one from the hotel ever called us to follow up. After hundreds of nights in a Marriott, I'm making the switch to Hilton. read more

I love the proximity of this hotel to the town center and restaurants. The decor in the hotel is solid. The room itself was just average. It had a large bare area that was desperate for furnishings. The bed was pretty comfortable and that was a big plus. The toilet continued to run until I learned how to wiggle the handle juuuust right. The front desk and convenience store staff were either a huge hit or a massive miss and nothing in between. The breakfast was pretty good. The potatoes were really good, and the bacon was worthwhile. The eggs were a bit runny for my lThe parking garage is very convenient and accessible to the hotel. I have now stayed 1,900 nights at Marriott properties over 17 years and am as loyal as one can be to them as a hotel management company. This is one of the very worst experiences I've had. I'll leave all of the other issues aside and focus on the worst. The air conditioner in the room was not working. I called multiple times over many hours for an engineer and no one came. It became too late after my children fell asleep to call again. I eventually fell asleep and woke up the morning with an awful sweat and terrible headache from the heat. I contacted the front desk and it took over 35 minutes to receive a response. There are a myriad of other issues with this hotel. read more

It's right downtown near the Stamford Town Center Mall. It's a tall hotel, at least 15 stories that overlook downtown and the always busy Interstate 95. Our room rate was a pretty decent $116 which gave us a nice Marriott standard room- work desk, very large flat-screen, good sized bathroom with a good shower and a cool pocket door, a very comfy bed (I slept great) and a free continental breakfast and free wi-fi via our Marriot Guest level. That's a great value for a downtown hotel. The room was quiet but I heard a few train whistles now and then. Parking is what you see in urban downtown locations - $27 for valet or $21 for self park. Customer service was fine all over- the front desk guy was terrific and the parking valet was friendly and very courteous. The continental breakfast was very good, lots of pastries and fruit and cereal and yogurt. We didn't upgrade for the omelet bar and hot dishes, but honestly we were very satisfied with the continental. Oddly, our breakfast check was for $27, not $0, and the guy said "Don't worry, I won't charge you." Against my better judgment, we signed the check. I sure hope we don't get stuck for a $27 charge. One more odd thing was our room's work desk, it was super wobbly like a bad restaurant table. Other than that, our stay was terrific. read more

I telephoned the Marriott to confirm my stay the day before I arrived. The hotel did not have my reservation. They called the central office for Marriott reservations, which could not find my reservation. I asked for them to call the central office again, but they could not call out. I asked to do a three-way call, but they could not call out. This took over two hours to resolve. The day I arrived, I could not open the zipper to my suitcase because a strap from my blouse was stuck in the zipper. I went down to the check-in office to borrow a pair of scissors. The agent replied, "We don't have any scissors." I asked, "You have a hotel with 500 rooms, but you have no scissors?" The agent replied, "We don't have any scissors." I went to the restaurant to request the use of a pair of scissors. The employee in the restaurant replied, "We don't have any scissors." I asked to use a knife. The employee replied, "We don't have any knives." I was flabbergasted and asked how the restaurant cut meat and potatoes in the kitchen without a knife. The employee came back with a plastic knife that could easily cut ice cream but not around the zipper in my suitcase. I asked another employee in another department for a pair of scissors. She replied that she had no scissors, although she happened to be holding a pair of scissors in her hand. I begged for the use of her scissors for five minutes. She replied, "I can be fired.........I can be fired.........I can be fired for letting you use my scissors!" All the prior employees I had spoken to also informed me that they could be fired for letting me use their scissors. It occurred to me that I should have asked to use a gun to shoot my suitcase open because......after all, everybody in America can own and carry a gun! The hotel is located above the I-95 Expressway, which serenades you with its sounds and volume day and night. The sheets and towels were very clean. I would never subject myself again to the Marriott motto of a firm "NO!!!" to every request I had as a guest. I would never subject myself to being the source of the fear of every employee's fear of being fired for letting a guest use a pair of scissors. read more

Stayed here for 10 days and very much enjoyed my time at this hotel! The rooms are nice and updated, and the beds and chairs are very comfortable! The hotel is right by the highway and train tracks, but there's good soundproofing so I was able to sleep really well (even though I'm a light sleeper). The location is good too - close enough to the train and downtown (I was able to walk downtown easily). I was on a concierge level floor, so I had access to the business lounge - which was truly great! Delmy in particular was extremely helpful, friendly, and professional- always warmly greeting me in the mornings and ensuring I had everything I needed. The breakfast were delicious and the evening snacks were nice too. The staff at the front desk is wonderful too. Elaina and Rebecca in particular were wonderful in helping me with a couple of questions. Overall, I truly enjoyed my stay, and would definitely come back. read more

I don't know why Stamford has such a poor hotel selection given all the companies. I'd rate this Marriott disappointingly as more of a motel than hotel. If my company didn't book it I would have left at night for a different hotel. Pros: * HBO and Showtime * Hot water temp Cons: * Dated, dirty looking and feeling; what looked like a cigarette burn in the rug * Cooling system that works and sounds like something from 100 years ago * Fingernail underneath the fitted bed sheet; I was too scared to pull up the sheet to look at what else was there * Mattress that sunk downward and to the middle * I'm not tall and I kept hitting the ceiling with my arm (ie when putting on a T-shirt) * TV is very small I would gladly not have HBO and Showtime if it meant a clean, climate controlled room with a normal bed. read more

This Marriott does not live up to the name. We stayed in room 1019 and it shares a wall with the elevator where the noise is non stop....it was also filthy. The bed skirt was covered in stains which can only leave you wondering what kind of mess is on the rug. The lounge chair in the room caused an almost immediate allergic reaction from whatever is in the upholstery. This Marriott is truly a poor representation of the brand and leaves me questioning the company. read more

I don't usually write reviews but this time I'll make an exception. I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights for a business meeting. My room was NOISY as hell!!!!! 12th floor facing the highway and still it was like a couple of helicopters were flying outside of my window for the ENTIRE night! And just to be clear, a stay at different hotels (Hilton 99% of the times) at least once a week because I travel for a living, but this is the first time I make myself write a review about a hotel.
