Was the glass is half full or half empty? My boyfriend and I stopped here after a portrait session in White Plains, NY and I'm doing the CT beer trail so I figured I'd stop in. I must have looked like I just came from prom or something because the employee behind the bar asked for my ID and put it up the the light, analyzed it for a good 5 minutes, and curtly asked "So what's your birthday?" I'm 24, but I will forever look 15 and I know that I will forever be ID'ed, but he really didn't have to be rude about it. To add insult to injury they didn't check my boyfriend's ID and just gave him his sour beer. I ordered a flight. I like punny names like Liquid Hoptimism and Bee Enlightened. The beer itself is decent, but not mindblowing. There's outdoor seating after you walk through the factory. I'm glad that they put a faux ivy fence next to the wall with the fence because otherwise it would feel like a jail (there's barbed wire over the fence and the ground was cover in broken glass in the lot next to it). Location-wise the area is a little sketchy and the parking lot is so narrow and a bit of a nightmare. The crowd was a little snobby, but I can see how this would be a good place for a casual business get together. The saving grace and what makes this a 3-star experience instead of 2 is that the food truck was really delicious and that the customer service from them was awesome! read more

Disappointed. Not a lot of reviews, but the few reviews I did read made me think this would be a worthwhile stop. Location is kinda sketchy. I drove around thinking I had missed the sign and it's in a dead end alley. It must have been an old warehouse at some point. First impression - trendy. The quality of the beer just isn't there, especially not for the price. The bartenders were not knowledgeable about the different kinds and at one point asked a patron what they thought. Really? Your employees should be able to explain the flavor profile of each beer without having to ask a customer. This was a one and done stop. I guess anyone can start brewing their own beer, slap a colorful logo on the wall, remodel a warehouse and call themselves a brewery. read more

Absolutely loved this place! The brew is delicious. Love that they let you try their selections before getting a pint. Large bar and awesome set up in an old industrial building. Very casual atmosphere. Lastly the crew behind behind the bar was outstanding. Super knowledgeable on their selections and very attentive. I was on my way to Norwalk, CT for the weekend and decided to check out Half Full Brewery on the way. It was a little difficult to find since it is off the street and the parking lot was just a dirt lot. I wish there was better signage! I'm not a beer drinker (I prefer white wine and white rum cocktails) but I decided on the flight which has four 5oz pours for about $12. I got the Mango Supernova, Pink Guava Supernova, Bright, and Within Reach. I really enjoyed the Mango and Pink Guava! Within Reach was just alright for me and Bright was just not for me. I ended up buying a four pack of the Pink Guava. When I looked on Yelp I saw that some people said there was a food truck outside but unfortunately on the Sunday I went there was not. I was told there was an event the day before that the food trucks were at so I'm assuming that may be why they weren't there on Sunday. I wanted to have a bite to eat while drinking so settled for the chips they had for sale. Half Full is one of the smaller breweries that I've been too but was still just as nice! There were couches to sit on, benches, and high top tables. There was also a projector screening the football game onto the wall. The staff was nice and helpful. read more

My team and I came here for an event and we all had a great time. I really enjoyed all of the beers but my favorite has to be the pumpkin beer. Personally I'm not a fan of sour beers but the teammates that tried them said they were great! I really enjoyed all of the beers I tried. Keep in mind that food is not served at Half Full, but you are able to bring your own food. They are also dog friendly, which is awesome! Cool tour, too! Small, down-to-earth spot for a brewery whose beers have had a big presence around the state. I have been able to pick up cans of Bright and Liquid Hoptimism near me in Westbrook, which began the love. I was super excited to stop by when I was in the area. It is a little hidden and the parking situation is a bit tight, but keep going. It is worth it. Inside, there is a small bar, some tables with benches and two couches towards the back. The reward is the nice selection of beers awaiting you: IPAs, sours, porters, stouts. They have some of their well known beers and some interesting ones I have never seen. We did a flight of 4 and then tacked on another. We had Thrive (a New England IPA), Beacon (IPA), Rise & Shine (coffee porter) and Before the Dawn (an oatmilk stout). Because we loved the Rise & Shine, we knew we had to sample the Bourbon Barrel Aged version, which ended up being my favorite. The woman was also kind enough to give me a bonus sample of the Fruit Punch Supernova because she heard my boyfriend and I going back and forth because I like sours and he does not. Great brewery! Brewery is a bit on the outskirts of the city but they offer a variety of good beers and a nice atmosphere. There is also wine and cider available for those not into beer. I'd travel around the world in a boat with white sails, To get a case of Half Full's Bright Ale. A very fresh and unique brew lineup, If I could just live here you bet that I'd sign up. This is my second favorite of all Connecticut breweries. I bought the Bright Ale this past summer at a local liquor store, and was totally hooked after one sip. Something about the strain of yeast used makes it unlike anything I have ever tasted. Decided to visit Half Full for my birthday this year with some friends on a Friday evening. Turns out they were doing an "Open Tap" for $15, which included unlimited beer for 3-4 hours and a pint glass. Happy Birthday to me! I got to try every beer on draft, and I did not have one bad product. I even got to meet the owner/brewmaster, who got voted one of Connecticut's "Top 40 under 40 (years old)" by CT Magazine this year. Another cool thing about Half Full is that they have branded themselves as an optimistic, ever-positive company that loves life. You can't help but to smile when drinking their beer, whether it be at the brewery or in the comfort of your own home. read more

This place is great- it's in a sort of sketchy neighborhood, but once you go in you're greeted by extremely friendly staff and delicious beer. Hours are limited for now, as they have recently opened. They are open some Saturdays to conduct tours, tastings, and fill growlers. The growler was $5 and a fill was $10. The Bright Ale is a delicious, simple blonde ale. The stout was very nice as well. They are slowly rolling out more beers, taking time to perfect them. The people are great- I believe Connor is the founder, his wife was working there too and was really friendly. Lots of their friends and family were there to lend support, and the patrons and staff were all chatting. It was a lot of fun! The resident beer hound named Lucky was also wandering around. I'll definitely go back for a growler fill and to try more beers. They talked about opening during the week for happy hour as well. read more

Q&D (quick and dirty) - friendly staff - great selection of brew - easy on the wallet - odd but mysterious location - cool place to hang out L&DO (the long & drawn out) After driving almost two hours from Hartford my colleagues and I needed a little lubrication. After relying on my fellow Yelpers to do me no wrong, we landed at HFB. Since we were all from Chicago, we relied on our trusty iPhone disembodied voice to guide us in. After what appeared to be a series of wrong turns dead-ending into a shadowy manufacturing area, we thought our navigator was trying to get us killed. However, happy to report, she wasn't trying to get us killed. We saw the HFB sign on the fence and blithely continued on our way. Walking in, I was slammed with a first impression of this being a cool, urban, trendy hangout rife with the makings of a regular haunt for the hipsters. With Jenga blocks scatter across a picnic-style table, a smattering of high tops, and a bar crew that beckons you to let them guide you through the selections mirroring the fatal song of the Sirens. I went on a whim and gave the strongest IPA a go, much to my amusement I know why it's called Half Full...the beer is so good it's easy to drink your glass half full in no time. I wish we could have increased the frequency and duration of our time at HFB but someone had to get up and run the world the next day. At any rate, I highly recommend giving HFB a shot and you'll probably see me and my friends there - I hope very soon. read more

I've been to a few breweries in my day. I 100% avoid CT due to its massive traffic but took the plunge today. Stopping here first, trying a flight. Within Reach a peach wheat went down so smooth with a slight not over powering taste of peach. Bee Enlightened a honey kolsch super light and fresh, no bitterness. Grace & Darkness an oyster stout, probably my favorite stout I've had to this day. It's easy to drink on a hot day. Lastly was the Bright blonde/pale ale. It's extremely drinkable, a perfect summer beer for me. The guys here are super down to earth. Prices are just right. read more

We came in right when they opened on a Sunday and stayed for about two hours tasting everything they offered (about 8 taps if I recall). Very friendly bartenders. Good variety of well crafted, fresh beers. Rivaled some of the good ones I've had in the Bay Area and San Diego. Small tasting room, parking is easy, and it's very comfortable. My only complaint was the brewery tour was kinda basic - while the staff was really nice and enthusiastic, they didn't know much about brewing, or their specific brewery to satisfy the brewery nerd in me. Also I wish they had tin signs for purchase! They had one up on the wall, but none for sale. Alas, my California garage won't have a Half Full sign to go with the rest. read more

A day trip to CT brought in some good times, one of which being half full brewery. A buddy of mine mentioned a peanut butter Hefe, which just sounded like a beer dreams are made of (I'm going to assume you know what a Hefe is if you're reading this review) When we got there it was a normal brewery experience, you park God knows where, send a search party to find a door, and walk down, around, or through some unknown areas, finally arriving at the taps. They had their list, they do the samples, same story as most breweries, and then you do their tour. Most tours are the same but here and there you'll get to try new beer from the tank that are at various stages of readiness. So we hopped on board and checked out their facilities, not bad. We talked to the Brewers and mentioned a guy we knew and soon we were drinking from their stash of alt bier! Man, unlike all the beers currently on tap up front at the time, this alt beir blew us all away. They are good people making good beer in a cool setting, check them out and have a conversation or two, you'll be glad you did. read more

Disclaimer: This review is about the experience more than the beer. Though I drank more than my fair share, I did not love the beer. But, I am more of a wine-o than a beer girl, so I am biased. Despite the fact I did not love the beer, Half Full is a great Saturday afternoon. $5 for tastings, with some very generous pours. $15 for an unlimited pint class. That's right, unlimited. Given they are open from 1-5PM.. it's pretty easy to get your $15 worth. The tour is more a walk into the one big brewery room and stand and listen to some stories. That said, the four guys who started the brewery have obvious passion for what they do (and also drink on the job) that makes the whole experience fun. They also have you taste directly off the casks, which is a unique opportunity to taste some of the freshest beer, ever. They mentioned their Friday night events with cornhole, life sized jenga, and $15 unlimited beer. Sounds like a perfect happy hour option (especially the jenga). read more

Some friends and I decided to day trip from NYC to try out Half Full Brewery. We had fun time! They have tours every Saturday at 3 pm. It was a great tour, where they explain their brew process, the history of the brewery and how it got started, as well as their current and future plans for the brewery. You also had an opportunity for a refill straight from one of the casks. I really like how the guys who started it decided to take a chance on something you can tell they have a passion for. The beer is good and the atmosphere is fun and chill. I'm a fan of the Bright Ale and Peach Wheat brews. You can get 5 samples for $5 or unlimited pints for $15. The $15 unlimited pints is definitely the way to go. In addition to the Saturday tours, they have Friday night open houses, rare beer nights, and are involved in various events in Stamford and the surrounding area. read more

I enjoy the fact that we have a brewery in Stamford. I encourage it and support it fully. I do wish a few changes, namely that they make a big, hoppy, IPA and that they get some proper growler-filling apparatus. For lighter-weight but crafty beers, the are doing it well. A gem of a place in Stamford, I cannot recommend the Half Full Brewery enough. An amazing, and ever-changing, selection of beers, and a really cool place to hang out and drink them. My favourite time to come is the biweekly Open House. You pay $15 and get unlimited access to the taps. They also often bring in local food trucks to feed the people, and great fun is always had. The presence of mega Jenga and bean bag toss is pretty cool too. All in all, plenty of ways to keep busy and to have fun whilst enjoying great beer. I've also been lucky enough to take a tour of the facility. That was really interesting, with a very friendly and helpful brewer taking us around and answering questions. If you get the chance, take a tour. Amazing place, everyone in Stamford should visit. I wish them loads of success going forward. read more

Very nice people, fun atmosphere, and really good beers. If they had a better curb presence we would've easily given them a 5. Just so you understand a little of the context when we first drove up we almost didn't even go inside since it really just felt like a warehouse docking area. But once you step in the door all of that falls away. With only two flights of tasters and no food and nobody besides us and the bar girl we were still there for two hours and didn't even feel like it had been 30 minutes. They really are a hidden gem and need to find a much better location. If they only had something with a cool patio, street entrance, or something a little more inviting it would be really exciting. They are also only two years old and if we ever come through the area again we will definitely check to see what kind of exciting changes they have made.
