Since you have to enter through the Cove Island guards. The ice was total crap. I watched a skating exhibition. There were 2 areas of the ice where people were constantly falling. Resulting in one chipped tooth and stitches in a forehead. The stands were really high making photography a breeze. The stands are heated.

This rink brings me back to my childhood. It's, of course, outdoors, and super cheap with a Groupon (under $20 total, for two, with a Groupon). That price also includes the skate rental, which are readily available in all sizes. At the rink, they have music playing, and people of all ages on the ice. Although, the times I've visited, I've mainly seen younger teenagers and kids on the ice. About an hour into free skate, if the weather is warm, the rink can get a little soft and icy, but that's what you expect with an outdoor rink. The rink can get crowded at times and a lot of people tend to gather on towards the one entrance/exit. The inside ticket area offers no refreshments, vending machines or even water fountain, so come prepared and hydrated. They do have lockers, but you pay every time you open them (quarters only), so plan accordingly. Parking is easy and people are coming and going all fay, so even on the Sunday before Christmas, I was easily able to find a spot. The staff here seems to be mainly high school students, who are attentive and very friendly. Overall, a great way to spend some time outdoors in the winter.

The namesake slide was closed all morning, which was a bummer, but I'm also not sure my kids would have actually done it. The trampolines, acrobatic swing bar, and multi-level play structure were their favorites. I agree that some people working here were more happy to be there. The waiver is long. We used a Groupon and had no issues redeeming when visiting on a Friday morning. We were instructed to complete the waivers at the kiosks near the entrance. We did have to purchase the mandatory socks which was $18 for three (3) pairs. Before proceeding to the play areas, we put our things in the little cubes they have for storage...i.e. shoes, bags, etc. Keep in mind these are open cubes which anyone can access. I never felt unsafe in leaving our things there...but as always, there is a risk. It was not very crowded on a Friday morning at around 10:30am (they open at 10) so it was a pleasure navigating the space with minimal crowds. There are lots of areas to enjoy for both adults and children. The main area has trampolines as well as some interactive areas where you jump to tap buttons and two video screens where you mimic the movements on screen...both area great. There are a few obstacle courses: ninja, balance beam, and swing pit. The basketball area is also great with a cushioned surface, two hoops, and targets where you can throw balls at. There are two huge slides in the center which are fun. Finally, there a "rock climbing" area with a few different climbing options. You must have the "climb" option added to your pass in order to use it though. You will be belayed during the climb. Be mindful that the gripped socks provided do NOT offer the best grip while climbing in my opinion...climbing was much more difficult that I experience in traditional rock climbing places that provide rock climbing shoes...then again, maybe it is just me. There is a food area which sells some snacks: soft drinks, chips, candy. There are also a few tables nearby where you can eat. Overall we had a great time here...the space was very clean and well-maintained. All staff we encountered were very nice. Be sure to check ahead if visiting with toddlers as there are some restrictions on which areas they are able to visit.

The coaches do an excellent job working closely with him--keeping him focused, engaged, and consistently improving his skills. We've brought him to both private lessons and small group training, and each offers a unique experience with real benefits. The private lessons allow for individual attention and targeted skill development, while the small group sessions are great for applying those skills in a competitive, game-like setting with other players. Both have played a big role in his growth and confidence on the ice. What really sets The Pond apart is that it's a great alternative to traditional open hockey. Instead of just skating around, the coaches break the game down and focus on specific skill sets in a controlled environment. The flexibility is another big plus--we're able to schedule sessions around our availability rather than being limited by open hockey times or specific rinks. Like most newer businesses, they're still getting things organized and looking to expand their programming and options, but the foundation is clearly there. You can tell they genuinely care about the kids and the environment they're building. One of the best signs for me is that after his lesson, my son never wants to leave. He loves hanging out, playing around with the other kids, and enjoying the facility. I highly recommend The Pond Hockey Club for any hockey parent looking for high-quality training in a positive, welcoming, and well-structured setting.
