Since you have to enter through the Cove Island guards. The ice was total crap. I watched a skating exhibition. There were 2 areas of the ice where people were constantly falling. Resulting in one chipped tooth and stitches in a forehead. The stands were really high making photography a breeze. The stands are heated.

I never knew this place existed, let alone the 19 tables available for play at a whopping $10 a person on the weekend from open to close. The price includes use of the paddles and balls. If you want a good workout let me tell you something, we were sweating up a storm. There are some serious players here and coaches who train with passion. These players are fully immersed in the sport. I watched in awe at the skill level these players play at. If you want to learn the game or hone your skills, WTTC can help with private coaching. The coaches from what I see are really good as they put there students through the paces and drills. I heard there are tournaments held here. Once it hit the low 80's back in June, we decided to look for a summer retreat where we could take…read morea dip and chill out with the family. We checked out some of the fancy shmancy Westchester country clubs, but most were like 10 to 20 grand a year and required that you play golf. We also checked out the other end of the spectrum, the local county pool. While cheap ($20 a season), the vibe was something along the lines of Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome with Hawaiian Tropic, boomboxes, and beach towels mixed in. Not happy with either of these options, we came across Maplewood, which charged $2300 for the summer. Set in a pretty wooded area in Hartsdale, Maplewood has all the facilities we were looking for; huge pool, kiddie pool, tennis courts, grassy sitting area, and a quiet, leisurely atmosphere. Everything was pretty well maintained, though the locker rooms were very primitive considering the membership cost. As for the people there, the staff was very nice to work with, and the members we met were pleasant, though a bit aloof and cliquey. For us, the one major downside at Maplewood was the poor level of value. Whats a visit to a pool club worth to your family? $30 for a few hours of swimming, mingling, and catching some sun? Well, to get that $30 per visit level, you'd have to go 76 times in the 90 days that they're open. From our experience, that's a near impossibility. Like most couples, we weren't free much on weekdays, and on the weekend, we found that we had a lot to do aside from chilling out at the pool. In the end, we would up going 10 times, or $230 per visit, which totally sucks. To be honest, even if we went every weekend this summer, we'd still have paid about $100 a visit. In my opinion, that's far too much for what they offer. If you're retired and have boatloads of free days, or if you have a big family with lots of kids, this place may work out for you. But for our family, the math just didn't add up.

Ryan and John were our teachers and they were great. Ryan taught us all the rules and basics of curling and we each got to try our hand at the different steps of the game. Curling is MUCH harder than it looks!! I, being the least atheletic, had the most trouble with it but Ryan was very encouraging and corrected my posture and gave me tips on how to fix everything I did wrong. My soon to be cousins were all excellent right off the bat. They had great strength and power and picked up this sport right away. The 1 hour went by so quickly - it was so much fun and we all learned so much!!! Got some good pics along the way. They told us curling is a small community and they have lots of events to introduce new comers. Check out the info sheet I posted to see their private events and learning sessions. I fully recommend trying this out! It'd be a lot of fun to host a party with friends doing this too. In honor of the 2010 Olympics, I wanted to give the Curling Club of Ardsley a review on Yelp…read more My father (who shall remain unnamed here!) is an avid curler and I grew up within walking distance of this club. He got into curling when I was very young, so I have memories from a very early age of the smell (smoke back in the day, and pretzels), sounds (screaming and stones cracking into each other) and sights (fake brick linoleum, an expanse of ice behind a glass wall) of this place. He's still curling over 30 years later! Wow! Go Dad! This is not to say I understand the appeal of the sport, because to this day, I can throw a stone decent enough, but I don't know how to score the game, and it's just not been something that calls to me as a hobby, especially now that I live in California. It's on the grounds of the Ardsley Country Club, but you don't have to be a member there to participate in this club- here, you just need to have a desire to participate in the sport of Curling. I do believe since they share a parking lot and so forth it is loosely affiliated, but I'm not sure. Anyway, this is a very active and caring, nice group of people here. I have seen the demographic change over the years, and it's definitely become younger with more diversity in who participates now a days. If you live in the area and want to give this ice sport a try, I would encourage you to try the Ardsley Curling Club.
