While my wedding at the Stan is still a month away, I wanted to post that at this point, I have been nothing but thrilled with the space and the staff. Apparently they have done a TON of renovation since last year, and I can say first-hand that the work is stunning. The floors are gorgeous, the walls are all freshly painted, the (guest/dining) chairs are new, and they even built two brand new beautiful individual bathrooms in the bar area (previously there was only one men's and one women's bathroom on the ground floor). Everyone I've worked with there (primarily Cera and Kevin) have not only answered all my questions immediately (I work exclusively via e-mail), but are always gracious and helpful. Cera even went so far as to offer to go with me to buy some decorative items so that she could offer input on what would work best in their space. Kevin has never made me feel like I was being a pain or wasting his time by asking the same questions over and over (since I'd forgotten the answers due to "bride brain"). He has always been sweet, attentive, and effective at getting my questions answered and problems solved. The best thing about the Stan is that, compared to the many other venues we considered, they have the fewest restrictions on who you can get to cater, DJ, etc. Everyone else gives you a list of just a few "preferred vendors" that you are forced to use, which limits your options and also seems to increase your spending since they know they have you in a bind. As for parking, the Stan suggested we rent the Darwin School parking lot, which is only about 2 blocks away. Seems like a good alternative to having everyone find parking on the street. One more thing - the Stan does insist that you hire a "day-of coordinator". This is an extremely wise recommendation. We worked with Anthony Navarro from Liven It Up, and I would be remiss if I did not say how grateful I am to have him on our "team". If you work with the Stan, WORK WITH ANTHONY. So, again, while the wedding has yet to occur, I have to say that at this point I can't recommend the venue and its staff highly enough. read more

We had our wedding at Stan Mansion on July 8, 2017. Everything was perfect. We worked with Irene who was calm, friendly, and super helpful. Cera Stan is the owner and she's a total sweetheart. She treated us like family and wanted to make sure we were happy at all times (even reminded me to get some rest the night before the wedding... too cute!). Great things about Stan: 1. You make the space into whatever you want. You have to hire vendors for pretty much everything- food, drinks, flowers, décor, DJ. But you can make it how you want it to be with their gorgeous space as a starting point. We did our ceremony and reception in the same room- the ballroom upstairs. They had just put up the curtains on the walls in the ceremony room downstairs and we didn't want to change things around at the last minute. 2. It's very reasonable for the city of Chicago. They offer specials around the holidays or during open houses so you can look for and ask about that. 3. You get the entire mansion for your event and there are no other events there. Our guests were blown away by how cool and unique the mansion is.... this is not your typical golf club or hotel reception space. Long time Chicago residents and first time visitors both had the same reaction..... this is awesome. 4. The bridal suite upstairs is amazing! Two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, full kitchen with a huge dining table and a living room area. It's flooded with natural light and beautiful windows. Perfect for the brides and the girls to get ready in. We booked it for the night before for my bridesmaids and me and also the day of our wedding for my husband and I to stay there. It was REALLY nice to walk upstairs at the end of the reception and be in our suite. Which leads me to... 5. Our reception went until 1 AM. This was really fun and not the usual early ending time of 11pm. Most people stayed and danced until the last minute. 6. It's historical, beautiful, and really unique. We loved it and we thought our wedding was perfect. For reference- we used Cocina Fusion for catering, Garfield for liquor, Stand and Clap (Bill) for the DJ, Jennifer Sutton Events for day-of coordinating, Bonnie Flowers, and Juancho SC for photographer. We adored all of our vendors. They all went above and beyond to make it perfect. We used Jessica Bernardi Meeker for make up and Emily from Matisse Hair Salon for hair. Cera Stan is by far the most unprofessional hack I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I was inquiring about a Sept. 2009 event and tried to follow up with the Stan Mansion staff on several occasions by phone to no avail. I should have learned my lesson because I finally did get to speak to Cera Stan, who books and runs the parties, and I scheduled a time to meet with her. I live in New York, so to meet at the location was no small peanuts for me. She didn't even show up. She didn't answer any subsequent calls either. Totally unprofessional. Don't waste you time with these people. Additionally, the parking situation in this neighborhood is not ideal. read more

I had my wedding ceremony and reception at Stan Mansion this past September. The space is beautiful and I loved the old-world charm it has. The bridal suite was recently redone and is gorgeous, so I highly recommend renting it. The lobby is also big and welcoming. We had both our ceremony and reception in the ballroom. The pros: the overall look of the venue, the price is reasonable for Chicago, and it's very unique compared to hotels and banquet centers. The Cons: Here is where I feel really let down. I had a hard time from the very beginning getting my emails answered in a timely manner, if at all. When I did get responses, they were short, curt, and usually not answering all of my questions. The ballroom is also old and in dire need of a paint job. It was just...dirt/dingy. Sure with the lights dimmed, you can't tell as much, but it really needs a good cleaning. We also hired Kevin as our day of coordinator and I had no idea where he was the whole day. I saw him at the beginning and when I walked down the aisle, but that's it. I don't think they had the A/C on and it was the hottest day of the summer. I sweat through my wedding dress before the reception. Some guests even left because they just said it was too hot. That is unacceptable! I kept asking people to turn the air on and they said they'd try to find Kevin, which turned into no one can find Kevin. We did have a mishap with our flowers, and I know he went to help with that, but that was before the wedding even started, so not seeing him for the entire 7 hour event isn't exactly what I was hoping for. He was also rude to my officiant (my opinion, I guess). Also, the floor in the ballroom is disgusting. A lot of time, at receptions, guests take off their shoes and dance. The bottom of people's feet were pitch black within an hour of dancing. I've never seen that at a wedding before. The carpet, too, is stained and dirty. It was a tad embarrassing. Overall, for the amount of money I spent on the venue and decorating it, you're better off going somewhere that will have attentive staff and more conveniences...like A/C apparently. I know they have it, but perhaps they just use it sparingly. read more

This place is a DUMP! They need to take mansion off there advertisement I'm still confused to why they market it as such. Driving up to the location it looked promising. Upon entering I noticed the front gate was open and appeared to be broken then I looked up and spotted the awful Christmas lights that were an eye sore. I walked through the doors and had no idea where to go. I saw a women walking in behind me however I never got her name for she literally was speed walking past me. I had an appointment with the owner that did not bother to show up, keep, or tell any of the staff about me. There was a gentleman that spoke with me however he was on his way out the door! He was gracious enough to show me the space. It is awful! Carpet, cold, dated, just grotesque. One could drip the place in diamonds and still it would not be enough. If you do not believe me go take a look I thought I could just save one some time, effort, and energy considering my appointment was irrelevant no one knew of me or that I was coming customer service is a true reflection of the space both awful. Stan Mansion probably would have been a fine place to have our wedding reception. However I will never know because after multiple attempts at contacting them to set up a meeting, or even just have more information sent to me, I gave up because no one ever responded. Sounds like I am not the only one, given other reviews. While planning our wedding, it has really shocked me at the number of vendors and venues that completely ignore inquiries, even after multiple tries. I realize these people swamped with requests but if I am reaching out to you because I potentially want to pay you A LOT of money for your services, I think an email or a call after more than one or two tries is not a ridiculous expectation read more

I was married at Stan Mansion Sunday, July 3, 2016, and I really can't say enough good things about the experience. From the first time my husband and I visited last summer through our wedding last weekend, the staff at Stan Mansion has been first-rate. I worked with Cera (owner) and Lale (my day-of-coordinator) and they truly went above and beyond for us. They were attentive, answering emails and calls promptly, and providing lots of applicable advice on how to save money while still pulling off a really classy wedding. They treat their clients like family--case in point: my stepmother ripped her dress getting out of a cab right before the ceremony and Cera personally sewed and ironed it for her! Come on, who does that? And as a day-of-coordinator, Lale is the perfect balance between warm and assertive, putting you at ease, but making sure everything gets taken care of efficiently. I highly recommend that you hire her if you book here. A few thoughts/pieces of advice: *You can bring in your own vendors, but I suggest using at least some of those recommended by Cera and Lale. Having a team of people who work together frequently (Juliet from Juliet Tan Floral, Deborah from Art of Imagination, Don from Stand and Clap for a DJ) made everything run like a well-oiled machine. *We had both our ceremony and reception in the ballroom (gorgeous!), but this required a room-flip that ended up taking our caterers longer than anticipated (Nearly 1.5 hours, leading to a super long cocktail hour). Technically speaking, our nearly 200 guests did fit in the bar/lounge and lobby areas, but it was tight and hot. I'd suggest renting out their additional room downstairs for added space if you're going to do a room flip. If not, you won't need it. Also, do note that drinks are unfortunately not allowed outside. This is a bit of a bummer, but it also keeps your guests from loitering out there all night when it's nice out. *BOOK THE BRIDAL SUITE! The on-site bridal suite is STUNNING and made getting ready at the mansion a breeze. It was also nice to have a "VIP" area for using the restroom or taking a quick breather during the reception. I can't stress how lovely an addition to your day this will be. Oh, and get some photos up there; the lighting is perfect. *Know ahead of time that there is no elevator. This did not stop us from booking. We even had a guest attend in a wheelchair, we just made sure to assist him up the stairs. If you have a crowd of many guests for whom stairs are an issue, this may not be the venue for you. *Be aware that you will have to provide quite a bit of your own decorating at this venue. For us, that was a great thing because we were able to customize the space to our own tastes (super vintage/art deco). The mansion provides tables, chairs, uplighting for the bar area, some lounge furniture (which is super pretty) a couple of high-boy tables, and that's really it. I was incredibly disappointed that the gorgeous sconce lights along the walls of the ballroom blew out the night of our wedding, so thank goodness we had bought a lighting package from Art of Imagination that took care of the ambience. You could probably just go with dimmed lighting and lots of candles though to create a soft glow throughout. Had we not had additional lighting (which can be pricey--ours was about $2,000 for an amber room wash), the loss of the sconce lighting would have been a huge detriment to our evening. Overall, the venue plus the staff made my absolute dream wedding come true! I think that's about it. Feel free to message me with any questions. Went here for New years it was a horrible time. Food service was bad dinner came out after midnight. Also they had a small bar and the line was huge. Very limited drink selection when I asked for a white russian the bartender said you will have to go around the street to get something like that. read more

Married on 10/26/2012. All I have to say is: INCREDIBLE! I LOVED my whole Stan Mansion experience. Cerra (owner) was amazing. She was always willing to help and share helpful tips. She made us feel like family with her demeanor and courtesy. Kevin, Oh my Kevin! He'll definitely have his own review shortly to come, but may I say this man was amazing! We hired him as our Day-Of-Coordinator (But he went far and beyond our expectations!) The mansion is a hidden gem of Logan Square. Beautiful and antique tucked away in the middle of our city. When searching for venue to host our wedding, we already made up our mind that we wanted something untraditional (no hall). We are very unique in our taste, always looking for something to knock our socks off. After tons of searching, I came across Stan Mansion on Theknot.com. Being only 8 minutes from our home, we had to take a look. We drove by and saw the beautiful welcoming exterior. When we entered we knew "this is exactly what we were looking for". The mansion has a certain historical vibe to it. Walking in you feel like history was made there, and all we wanted was them to be part of our history. Walking into the foyer, all we could see was potential. The bathrooms (newly redone) were beautiful! Lovely feminine touches made it cozy for the women bathroom break meetings lol. The foyer offered open space that leads to stairs up to the reception area. The reception area is HUGE! You would never be able to tell by the outside but it was certainly large. There is a stage, a dance floor, separated and elevated side sections, and a balcony. There is red carpet and intricate carvings for decorations. We used Art Of Imagination for our lighting and with their help really added depth and ambiance. Just across from the reception area was a BEAUTIFUL bar area. Two bars, exposed brick, windows that look out onto Kedzie blvd (Everyone talked about how gorgeous the bar was!) Need to know: Stan Mansion lets you create your dream wedding by letting you bring in all of your vendors. It is a blank slate to let your imagination run wild. They do suggest using vendors that have worked there before because it isn't your typical hall (no kitchen). I would definitely suggest them to anyone looking for any social gathering. That was over two weeks ago and I haven't gotten so much as an email, call, text, or carrier pigeon. My opinion is to stay away from this place if they can't even help prospective customers...I don't even wanna know how they drop the ball once they actually GET the money in their hands. Well, we had about 15-20 special events at The Mansion. How many times can one go wrong before he or she is declared irreparably stupid? We kept on coming back because the place ROCKS! Imagine a beautiful space, awesome acoustics, super relaxed atmosphere. My wife and I were really impressed when we visited Stan Mansion as she saw it on a wedding show that aired on the TLC network. I assumed that the TLC wedding had to spend MANY thousand dollars since it was airing on a major network and looked marvelous. After visiting the venue, I was delighted to see that Stan Mansion had so much character and was a Chicago historic landmark. It actually does not cost a significant amount of money to do lighting and décor. And Cera has a great relationship with Deborah at Art of Imagination to provide discounted lighting and décor services specifically for Stan Mansion. Cera Stan has done an amazing job upgrading Stan Mansion to one of the top (not to mention affordable) wedding venues in Chicago. We visited at least 15 wedding venues, 5 that were DITY (do it yourself), and we had the best feeling after meeting with Cera and Kevin. It really does stand out as one of the best venues where you rent the entire space and bring your own caters/vendors. You can truly transform Stan Mansion to any theme or style of wedding of your choice. Look at their wedding photo album and you will be quite amazed. Any event from a wedding, to corporate event, to themed party, etc; Stan Mansion does it all! Cera runs a tight operation and has an amazing list of vendors to choose from. We actually used a couple of their vendors and were happy to see that they did most of the work and research to identify a lengthy list of vendors and options. It was really easy to talk and communicate with Cera and Kevin and they are always available to talk whenever you have questions. Our guests had such an amazing time at our wedding and enjoyed how there were separate rooms for the dining hall, separate room for the wedding party, separate bar area with 2 bars, beautiful foyer, and great front patio. We had about 225 guests and it was a comfortable fit (I believe 300 is capacity). Another added bonus to using Stan Mansion for your wedding is because they have furniture that you can use for free, dining tables that you can use at no additional cost, and chairs on site (cheaper than renting or coordinating from Halls). You honestly owe it to yourself to take 1 hour to visit Stan Mansion and meet Cera and Kevin. You will find it to be one of the best DITY venues in Chicago and your guests will have an amazing time guaranteed! I rate the venue with 4.5 stars and the service/overall experience with 3.5 stars. The reason for my overall rating is because I was told that one of my guests tore a little piece of wallpaper in the bathroom and what should have been a small and simple repair resulted in a $250 fee to redo the wallpaper in the entire bathroom. After I saw the tear I could have even repaired it without redoing the entire bathroom for $250; it left a bad taste in my mouth. Additionally, I used their preferred vendor for valet (The KO Valet) and they ended up stealing items from my guests. DO NOT USE KO VALET as they are not trust worthy and did not return any items to my guests or do anything about the theft. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Cera and Kevin, and who blew me away with how genuinely they wanted us to be happy with our event...and they totally delivered. the space itself was perfect for our banquet, dancing, and award presentation... the bar room was also the perfect cocktail reception area. from the moment people walked up to the uplight mansion front, they were in awe. I couldnt be happier with how everything turned for my gala, as well as with the incredible network of vendors that we used who were also so excited to get to do another event at Stan! that really said something to us too! I went to a wonderful event at Stan Mansion. Unfortunately the parking vendors they use, Regional Valet Service, Inc (RVS) was the absolute worse I've ever experienced. I could have GRABBED ANY KEYS I WANTED AND RVS (AND STAN MANSION) WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME SOMEONE ELSE'S CAR. They were unorganized and in complete chaos. At one point they were just letting people find their own car keys and then they would go get the cars (not matching them to tickets). I waited for 40 minutes, at which point I realized people were coming after me and getting their cars. When I complained the parking attendant said I was waiting because my car was in the far lot. When I told him I'd been waiting for 40 minutes and I did not want to wait for an hour, his response was "Look this happens every weekend for us, when you've been waiting for an hour then you can complain" Really? Finally, I did what everyone else was doing and found my own keys - sitting on the floor, which meant that basically the parking attendant lied because he couldn't have known that my car was in the far lot, as he didn't even have my keys. I gave my keys to another guy who retrieved my car without my handing him a ticket (because I gave someone else my ticket 45 minutes earlier), which means I could have GRABBED ANY KEYS I WANTED AND RVS (AND STAN MANSION) WOULD HAVE GIVEN ME SOMEONE ELSE'S CAR. The parking attendants working for RVS told me to complain and blamed it on the owner of Stan Mansion. They said the owner of this venue was cheap and would not pay their company to have enough attendants to adequately work an event here. In my opinion, if this happens every weekend (as the parking attendants themselves say it does), RVS and Stan Mansion are negligent. Anyone can walk off the street during these chaotic moments, dressed well as though they attended the event, grab some car keys and complain how long they have been waiting and sat that they've already given the smart mouth guy their ticket, and expect to have a car handed to them. They are a "car theft" accident waiting to happen. read more

I recently had my wedding and reception at the Stan Mansion. From the first meeting with the owner until the time our DJ played his last song, we were extremely happy with this venue. I really wasn't sure what to expect after reading both the positive and negative reviews on Yelp. But we received excellent service every time we either had a meeting at the mansion or just emailed with a question. Cera Stan (the owner) was professional and had a positive attitude. You could tell she really enjoyed what she does and was proud of her venue. They have recently done a lot of work to update the interior spaces including the foyer, bathrooms and ballroom. I love the beautiful details in the ballroom and the room is spacious enough without feeling lost in there. The acoustics were good and the music sounded great. Three weeks before our wedding we were looking for a day of coordinator to help us pull everything together. Kevin Hjellum, the Assistant Director of Events at the Stan Mansion offered to help us out. I am SO glad we decided to take him up on the offer. We had a couple of meetings with Kevin to work out the details. He helped with everything from organizing the rehearsal, accepting the vendor deliveries, setting up our decor and making everything was running smoothly. I didn't worry about anything the day of my wedding and that was priceless. read more

My medical school class just had our annual winter ball fundraiser at the Stan Mansion, and it went perfectly. We've had this event at big Chicago venues every year (last year's was at the Cultural Center ballroom) but all of the faculty members and students said that this was the most beautiful event they could remember. The space itself its classically beautiful. From the grand staircase at the entrance, to the ballroom that brings to mind dance scenes from the movies, to the elegant wooded bar room, the mansion oozes grace. We worked with decorator Deborah from Art of Imagination, who I highly suggest, and she was able to integrate our theme colors with the natural beauty of the mansion. What that woman can do with light! But overall, the best part of our experience was the help that we got from the Stan mansion team. As three clueless med students, we had no idea how to plan a party for 350 people. Kevin, the staff member who we worked with, was beyond helpful. He welcomed us to come see the mansion multiple times, gave us suggestions on everything from caterers to taxis, and he even helped us carry out all of our extra booze the morning after the event. The owners of the mansion were nothing but kind to us, and Cera even bought some items at our silent auction! We couldn't be more happy with the result of our fundraiser - and I can definitely see myself back here in a few (ok maybe more than that) years for my own wedding. read more

My husband and I recently had our wedding celebration at Stan Mansion. We found this venue about a year and a half before our big day, and knew that it was going to be perfect for us. It ruined us for all other venues we checked. My husband is a chef by trade, and a musician to his core. Many of his friends are musicians. We knew that we didn't want to entertain our guests in a venue where they would be served a dry piece of chicken and some other unidentifiable foods. Non-traditional was certainly our plan, as we introduced our wedding as "Live Music & Leather." All of our guests were on board for such an event. We have heard from many of the 200+ guests about what a wonderful night we had, in a truly wonderful venue. From the moment we entered the Mansion on a cold day in 2011, Cera Stan, owner, treated us with respect. She assisted us with much of the planning with great enthusiasm and good, creative ideas. Cera's assistant, Kevin, also could not have been more helpful. He always greeted us with a smile and a hug. We felt as if we were now working with friends or extended family. We did not elect to have any extra draperies or lighting, and it didn't take anything away from the pure beauty of the room. It was candle lit throughout the night and gave us the sense of simple elegance. We can't wait to come back to the Mansion. read more

I created an account because the experience is that bad. My fiance and I just went to look at the venue for our wedding. The event coordinator thought it would be a good idea to have an open house during someone else's wedding. The staff was either clueless or rude. The bride and groom did not seem happy to see us (duh) and we left within 5 minutes of walking in. Would have rescheduled for a personal showing but was not impressed. Just really unprofessional. Save yourself the time and skip would be my advice. read more

I just had my wedding at Stan Mansion, and I was very happy with the venue. It is a historic building in the Logan Square neighborhood on the beautiful tree lined Kedzie Ave just a short walk from the El. The place is pretty much a blank slate, and we had to invest considerably on decorations. It probably ended up costing the same as other wedding venues and was more work for us, but the benefit was that we got to do everything our way. We didn't have a restriction on which caterer we needed to use and we were able to bring in our own alcohol. There isn't a proper kitchen here, so buffet is a must. My now husband and I worked with Cera Stan who is super nice, very laid back and accommodating. She let us use her couches and was very flexible with letting us visit the mansion numerous times during our planning. We also got to use the mansion pretty much the entire day for the wedding (we had a gap in the middle to transform the large ballroom from ceremony to reception), while most venues limit your time to 5 hours. This was a huge plus! We booked the venue all the way back in July 2008, and I can definitely say that there has been significant investment and improvements to the mansion over the past year, particularly in the past few months. Some previous posters noted the water damage on the wall and peeling paint as well as the poor condition of the bathrooms and lack of air conditioning. The water damage has been repainted and the men's room had a complete makeover. Brand new tiling, toilets, and designer looking sinks. The women's room is still in process, but at least the toilets are brand new. They also just installed air conditioning in the main hall, which wasn't working properly for our wedding, but Cera graciously provided us a giant fan for the dance floor. The bar room has also recently been outfitted with a brand new hand carved bar, which is beautiful. No air conditioning in this room though. Highly recommend this venue for a DIY wedding. read more

I just had my wedding here last weekend, April 24th, and it was amazing! I am actually shocked at some other reviews I just read bc Cera and her staff at the Stan Mansion were NEVER rude, demanding of money, or hands off. They were the completely caring, hands on, imaginative, and open. Cera allowed us to have long meetings with her to go over ideas for decorations, catering, etc. And she was extremely helpful in giving us her insight on which caterers, florists, cake makers, etc to use. And if there was someone on her prefered list of vendors we met with who was rude we told Cera and she would take that into consideration in whether she wanted to keep them on the preferred vendors list. I felt very protected by Cera when it came down to deciding on vendors for the wedding which is such a daughnting task. Also, Cera went above and beyond in allowing us to use items she had at no extra charge. For example, a couch, tables, seating in the bar, a rug, and so on. Cera takes pride in all events held at the Stan Mansion and she would do anything to make your day great. Regarding another lady's review saying all Cera was interested in was being paid is ridiculous. I mean first, everyone has to understand she is running a business so yes she wants to be paid but never did Cera ask us for payment or harrass us regarding that. That accusation is absolutely insane. Looking back I wouldn't have wanted to have my wedding anywhere else! read more

I got engaged in October of 2010 and came across the Stan Mansion in my research right away. I wanted a unique and special venue and I was excited to check it out. It was love at first sight! I also wondered why i had came across some of the bad reviews that I did. When I met Cera Stan I was pleasantly surprised how wonderful and accommodating she was. I took my fiance to check it out and in my second tour of the beautiful building I was sold! We were planning an October 2012 wedding and the day after seeing it for the second time Cera Announced that she would be holding Mini Ceremonies on Valentine's Day. My fiance and I discussed it and we decided we would participate in it! This left us with only 3 weeks to plan. I was a bit overwhelmed but Cera planned the entire event! She works with the best professionals in the business. My wedding was absolutely everything I had ever dreamed of! The mansion was beautifully decorated and Cera and her team went out of there way to make everything extra special. I can't wait for an excuse to hold another event there! I would highly recommend this venue to everyone. I felt like a princess the moment i walked in the door. read more

I had my parent's 25th anniversary party here October 4th... it was absolutely awesome ....none of my friends or family had ever been here and they were in complete awe ... first and foremost, i dont know what the other reviewers are talking about, Cera was amazing. She was so accomodating and nice. I first went to see Stan Mansion about 7 months ago and I saw it had much potential, but i wasnt crazy about it. However i hired Deborah from Art of Imagination .. she does a wonderful job spicing up the place .. Im not going to ie, there are still some improvements the Stan Mansion can make, but Cera is deffinately working on it. By the begining of October the main lobby had been repaired and painted, the bar area was completely redone, they had installed new AC and Cera told me she had more projects to come. Basically, in order to get the Stan Mansion you need imagination .. a creative eye ..by itself the Mansion isnt so hot, but its a white canvas, if you put some thought into it you will be able to throw a wonderful party .. One of my friends liked it so much that she booked Stan Mansion for her wedding this coming June ..... The major downer is the parking.. Cera has made arrangements with Darwin school for us to rent their parking lot, its not super close, a good 5 min walk.. on the other side of Fullerton... but its not that big of a deal either.. my guests had no problem parking there or on Fullerton ... Stan Mansion has a texture and ambience all of its own; it's old fashioned, but not quite placable to any area. Its a space where you're imagination and ideas can pretty much explore lots of possibilities. The stage lighting is phenomenal, and looks awesome reflected against the white curtains. The bar area is also quite spacious, and leads in very nicely to the main hall. Basically, if you want to have the freedom to custom design an event - this is the place to do it. My husband and I had our 140 guest wedding at Stan Mansion on 2/22/14 and it was amazing! I would highly recommend Stan Mansion to anyone looking for a unique, beautiful, fun, and open space for their wedding venue or event. We first discovered Stan Mansion when attending a friend's wedding there in November of 2013. We got engaged shortly after and Stan Mansion was on our list of venues to look at. After reviewing venues downtown and some in the suburbs to stay on budget we decided to look at Stan Mansion. We loved the idea of renting a space and then choosing any vendors we wanted to work with. We quickly found out when you book with a country club or certain venues you are required to use their linens, food, etc. but with Stan Mansion you can customize the space to exactly what you are looking for. Kevin was our day of coordinator and he was awesome! He coordinated with all of our vendors, he met with me several times to walk around the venue and answer my questions and help with my planning, and he was so easy to talk to and made me laugh. Which was so refreshing to help bring a smile to my face as the stress and pressure was mouthing close to the big day. Pros: They have recently made some renovations from when we booked until now updating the kitchen, painting, etc. The venue coordinates valet; separate bar area/lounge (this space worked out perfectly for our cocktail hour while flipping the room from the ceremony to reception); working with Kevin is great; flexibility in choosing your own vendors/caterers (we selected J&L Catering; they were amazing and have catered events at Stan Mansion numerous times). Also the venue is BYOB so we saved alot of money by purchasing our own alcohol and then having our caterer serve it. Cons: While there are multiple restrooms near the entrance downstairs, the ballroom and bar are upstairs, and there is only one restroom (or 2?) up there which which was difficult for some of our older guest and ladies in heels. Also, while we thought a venue that you just pay to rent the space and do whatever you want would be far cheaper in the grand scheme of things it was the same price as the other venues. And you have to really commit to putting in the extra work yourself on all of the details/planning. While Kevin does day of coordinating and an amazing job I would suggest a coordinator for all the details/vendors/etc. when choosing Stan Mansion. It is alot for a bride to do on her own. read more

My husband I had our wedding reception at the Stan Mansion on 8/9/14 and could not have been happier. Working with Kevin, the Stan Mansion's coordinator, was honestly the best decision I made in the entire planning process for my wedding. First, the Stan Mansion is an amazing venue to mix up all the hotel weddings in Chicago. It's a beautiful, historic building with a gorgeous marble lobby and an amazingly stunning bar upstairs. We loved what a large space it is, and the different areas of the venue for guests to enjoy. I agree with some other Yelpers that on first glance in visiting, some things looks a little dingy. But seriously, the day of with everything in place, they made it perfect. Kevin let me drop off everything a few days before, and went over the timing of everything enough times to soothe my very Type-A personality. I had 2 events for 2 years with Stan Mansion. Both times were to expectations, and i still feel we were taken care of. I have been in and out of the mansion and seen it transform for different events, price points, budgets and needs. I believe the space has the flexibility to be transformed to whatever they dream depending on budget. Cera has always been gracious and helpful especially when I had a row with my original caterer. I agree the entrance maybe a bit wanting, but it opens up the ballroom and the bar to its majesty it deserves. read more

Stopped by at the Stan Mansion during the Architectural Open House Chicago event. From outside, the building looked deceivingly small, but once inside, the splendor and the dimensions of the rooms were mind blowing. Three floors were open for public: main foyer, lower ballroom, and grand ballroom on the second floor and the lounge/bar area (on the same floor). We were surprised to learn that the building is almost 100 years old, as it impressed us how well maintained it looked. During the open house, we had a chance to meet the owner, Cera Stan, who was extremely friendly, she walked us around and gave us a few wonderful stories of the building. She seemed willing to go above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable. An amazing hostess, that's for sure! We also exchanged a few words with some employees, who were very knowledgeable and friendly as well. Overall, we were left amazed and totally impressed by this hidden gem in the middle of Logan Square. What a wonderful and unique place to host events! read more

I made an appointment to look at and discuss having my wedding reception here a few weeks back. While the building is very pretty from the outside, the inside was a total dissapointment. With very minimal work the place could be just lovely but it is quite clear they put absolutely no money at all into upkeeping the building. The walls and ceiling need patching and painting, the carpets are filthy and there are some horribly cheap light fixtures throughout and in general the place looks as though it hasn't been dusted or cleaned in years. The location isn't downtown and isn't in Lincoln Park and yet they are trying to charge more to rent the facility then most of the very nice places I've checked out downtown and in Lincoln Park. (I live in Logan Square btw.) If it were a inexpensive rental or even reasonably priced, you could get over the problems with the interior or try and mask them but with the outrageous price it was not worth it for me. read more

Hard to believe that one month ago I was getting ready for my wedding at Stan Mansion. It was perfect and beyond anything I could have imagined. The best part was working with Cera Stan and the staff at the Mansion for one year. They became like friends and I am still missing talking to them every week. I felt completely taken care of the whole year and trusted that eveything I wanted would happen, because they made sure it did and even more than what I asked for. There is NO better place than Stan Mansion! I recently worked a wedding there and the staff of Stan Mansion were nothing but professional, curtious and amazing! I LOVE that the venue is a unique blank canvas. They are really open to what you can do! (Not like most venues who have a list of things you CANT do..) You can take the space and make it represent you however you would like. My husband and I recently had our wedding at Stan Mansion in November, and we don't have one complaint. The location is amazing and Kevin is unbelievable. If you're looking for a unique location for your wedding- this is your place! You can transform it into whatever you would like and Kevin will be there along the way to help you with his years of experience. He could run a wedding in his sleep! If you don't have a planner, I 100% recommend hiring Kevin. He was spot on during our day making sure the space was set up to perfection and everything ran perfectly with little help from us! It was great to just be able to enjoy the day with no stress! Our guests had an amazing time and we couldn't have gotten enough compliments on the space. One of the amazing parts of Stan Mansion is they make the rest of your planning seamless. You don't have to worry about stuffy rules or regulations. Bring in your own catering and your own liqueur! Doesn't get much better than that! Also, Kevin has a great list of recommended vendors that won't let you down if you don't know where to start! They are insanely flexible when it comes to stopping by for a visit and Kevin is quick to respond. Another perk, tables and chairs are included up to 150 people and they have a great collection of couches as well as a full closet of goodies/decorations you can use. This really helps cut the costs on some of those things you'd never use again anyway. As you can tell, I really can't say enough amazing things about this space. If you're on the fence about booking, don't think about it anymore and get that deposit in! read more
