Stan seems able to do just about anything, and if he can't do it, he'll say so. I called him for help with the frame to my storm door, figuring the whole thing would need replacing and it would be expensive. Nope. He and his assistant (I love how he often has apprentices with him) were able to fix what I had without replacing anything. And when that left a draft under the door, he had a strip in his truck that fit perfectly. No drafts. No bugs slipping in. I called Stan on Friday to ask him to fix my garage door which was getting stuck, and to replace a door handle on my kitchen door which annoying kept locking on its own. It was great that he was able to come on Monday to do the work. I appreciated his clear communication about what he expected the jobs to entail, and his hourly rate, so there was no confusion about that. He gave me option of offering to utilize, for free, a previously used door handle and garage door springs that he had on hand. Finally, after eight weeks, I heard back from you stating that the job was too big....really? According to your website, there isn't much that you DON'T do. I am an enormous Stan the Fixit Man fan. He can do virtually ANYTHING. I sit back and watch open-mouthed as he identifies structural problems, diagnoses problems and in no time at all, well, fixes them. Extraordinary efficiency and reasonable rates aside, Stan is also painstaking about his work - he is not a let's-slap-on-a-band-aid guy. He really cares, is detail-oriented and, as I said, is able to diagnose and resolve a huge range of issues, whether a lampshade is hanging at a lopsided angle, grouting needs to be redone, painting issues, a closet door has fallen off its track - and much much more. My wife and I could not have prepared our house for sale, or for that matter, sold it, probably (!) without Stan in our lives. We are grateful to him. read more

He has always been quick to respond, and once when my garage door malfunctioned locking my car within, he came over on a Saturday to free it with no extra charge for it being off hours. Several weeks ago I contacted Stan the Fixit Man for two jobs using his website email contact System. As of today, July 14, I have not heard word one from his organization. My question: why have a system on your website if you don't respond to the requests? Therefore I cannot comment on their abilities at repair or handymanship but I can comment on their ability to communicate and it seems to be poor. That is unfortunate since I really had some jobs that needed doing and Stan's organization seemed to be the perfect fit. read more

I will start by saying that Stan does decent work and is a good person. This is not about him personally, it is about the business. If you plan to hire him, I highly suggest getting an estimate IN WRITING from him. We did not do this and the final cost of the work was $700 more than the estimate, and with no warning that the costs were going to be off by so much. In fact, he was giving us updates that costs were just a small amount higher. We had worked with him once before and his work was fine and on point price-wise, so we did not ask for a written estimate. Because we did not have it in writing this time there were no consumer rights on our side, but usually contractors are not allowed to "low ball" estimates, otherwise everyone would do it just to get the job. You've got to be able to hold them accountable somehow. He did not handle this aspect of the work well and was very confrontational about it when I asked him finish the job completely before I paid him the inflated amount. He handed my some "free" caulk and told me to have my husband finish it himself. Not the professional attitude I would expect after paying someone so much to do a job. read more
