We passed a small pop up tent with signs advertising Oxtail along the side of the road. My eyes lit up when I saw oxtail mentioned as I went without breakfast this morning..take a chance on this sidewalk vendor, or eat trash food at the airport before our flight? The choice was easy! Thankfully, a generous portion of food piled high presented itself, at fair prices too ($21 for the Oxtail plate with can soda.) Not only visually welcoming, the smell was enticing and the taste was outstanding! Plastic fork tender oxtails, the fat was rendered well and the yellow rice was drenched in the delicious Oxtail Stew. Collard Greens with plenty of vinegar tang accompanied along with a solid Mac n Cheese shell. Chef reps Louisiana heritage and it shows. He only serves Oxtail on Sunday's, so save the date if your local or visiting like us on a Sunday....might just be the highlight of your trip ;) On the corner of North 22nd & East Emma Street. Enjoy!

It's a classic casserole of garlicky oil sauce and seafood or crab over pasta. Name is believed to be a short form of "enchilado", not enchilada, but ENCHILADO, a spicy sauce with chilis. It's a traditional Tampa dish like cuban sandiwches and deviled crabs but I can't seem to get my hands on any. Next week he told me..

As a first time customer, he treats you like you've been coming in for years. I ordered a Chicago Dog and a Polish Sausage, both served on perfectly steamed poppy seed buns with Vienna Beef franks and sausages loaded with super fresh toppings. I also had to try the Italian Beef, served on a fresh French roll piled with tender, juicy beef and hot giardiniera. I spent six years working in Chicago, and Paulie is turning out Chicago classics that rival some of the best I had there. He's ranked #6 on Yelp's Top 100 Sandwich Shops for a reason. Stop by, grab some incredible food, and take a few minutes to chat with Paulie. You'll be glad you did.

The first time I came was right after that article, and there were about 50 people in line, so I left. This Saturday I stopped by at around noon, and I was third in line. WARNING: do not be in a rush! Your food is not coming out quickly. Paulie is a sweetheart, but he is a one-man show, and he likes to chat and get to know all his customers. They currently do not carry the full menu they show online, so I went with a Chicago hot dog, and the Italian beef sandwich. Paulie educated me a bit on the sandwich; if I wanted it juicy (with the sauce already on it) or on the side to dip into (yes, please, I'm a dipper), and how spicy I wanted it (more peppers, less peppers). After a nice chat with Paulie about politics, I headed home and dug in. The Chicago hot dog was perfect, although I had to remove the hot peppers. The sandwich was outstanding; the beef so tender, the peppers and onions adding depth, and the roll was so soft-I could only eat half, but the other half heated up nicely for dinner. Can't wait to go back!

The lot has very limited parking for the 5 or more food trucks that are there. This is a problem but it's the only negative I encountered during the experience. The food truck is tucked back into the corner of the lot with a couple of picnic tables for seating in a shaded area. Bacon Egg'n Cheese has a tablet kiosk that you can order from, however you can just walk up and tell the attendant your order if you prefer. They are also available on Uber Eats. I ordered the Hungry Man sandwich and I was beyond satisfied. This sandwich is stacked with 2 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, and a hash brown on a Kaiser roll. The service was fairly quick with the order being prepared within 5 minutes. Upon taking my first bite I was met with a pleasant and familiar taste I had not experienced in over 17 years since I lived on Long Island. They make the sandwich to order so make sure you ask for whatever you want on your sandwich such as salt, pepper, ketchup etc. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich is a part of NY food culture that can't be found elsewhere... until now. Bacon Egg'n Cheese pays tribute to this iconic sandwich by making it right. I will return again and again to enjoy this authentic breakfast sandwich.

I didn't get what I came for (B.E.C., I'll see you next time , maybe lol), but the flavor profile from the chopped cheese said 'you're welcome' with every bite. It's definitely a tight squeeze considering the amount of cars that pulled up or were already there, but it was flowing... We'll definitely be back for more food and finds. **the bread is braces friendly**
