This is a reminder to myself what I should and shouldn't get. We came on a Sunday at around 12:30 p.m. The parking lot was pretty empty so it was easy to get a parking spot, even though the lot is small. I think a lot of people may walk here from church which keeps the parking lot manageable. There are long rows of tables, but it was empty enough that nobody was sitting next to anyone if they didn't want to be. Also, there is outside seating and right now (in November) the weather is nice enough to sit outside. We got the three meats and two sides. This was perfect for my family (my husband, my younger son and me. The older one was at a child's only event.) We went with the brisket (moist, you have a choice of fatty or lean, moist = fatty), burnt ends (which is beef and pork burnt ends so I didn't get to eat it), pulled chicken. Then our sides were green beans (which also has pork so I didn't eat it) and I waffled on what the second side should be. The mac and cheese is spicy so we skipped that, I thought cheesy potatoes would be close enough that my younger son would eat it. He didn't. So next time, I should just get what I want, which is coleslaw. Don't get me wrong, the cheesy potatoes are delicious, but they were heavy and I would have appreciated coleslaw more. We also got my son a chocolate chip cookie. They are giant. He loved it. The brisket was perfectly fatty and delicious. My son ate a ton of it. He wouldn't touch the burnt ends or pulled chicken surprisingly. The chicken was also good. We kept the roll instead of upgrading it. I saw someone with a biscuit, so next time I'll ask about that. I know you can upgrade to cornbread, but the cornbread is spicy so we skipped. This place is great to grab fast BBQ. I highly recommend it.

The brisket is king of the show here. Of all the options they had, that was by far my favorite. I went with the lean cut which was still fairly moist and portion size was decent. I also enjoyed the burnt ends though they were smothered in a lot of sauce. Sides were okay. The collard greens and okra were fine and the cornbread too (but not the wow factor). The restaurant has a modern western vibe to it and was a nice place to stop in and eat. Lunch time wasn't very busy - just a few customers. Service was friendly.

One of the best restaurants around! The messy piggy sandwich is a must have! Just look at it's happy little face! The street corn, bread pudding, coleslaw, alllll the sauces , get everything! The service was top notch too

    85% gristle

I specifically asked for the leanest brisket for our kids. Asked for as little gristle as possible. This is what we got. It's 85% pure fat. And inedible. Kids got about 3 bites of edible meat. And this is not the 1st time. They routinely give us the fattiest cuts, despite requesting the leanest meat. Their brisket is good when you get a nice lean piece with a good bark. But to say it is hit or miss, is an understatement. They also failed to put our okra in our order today.

First impressions: place is nice, clean, and smells good. This is a large FL Chain but does have a cool story on how they started. Customer service was great, and they have great ice! We ordered the 1/2 rack, and a Cowboy Combo that came with 3 meats and 2 sides. Meats are pulled chicken, burnt ends, and sausage. Sides of fried okra and baked beans. Ribs: had a little sauce as served, but good flavor and came off bone well Pulled Chicken: good flavor but a little sweet for me. Definitely has a brown sugar taste. And the meat was a little tough. Burnt ends: lightly sauced as served, good flavor but again a little tough. Sausage: great flavor. Okra was great, and baked beans really good. Overall I would say this is a good place to eat but some meats are a little tough. The sauces on the table are good. And the snowball in the one pic is a coconut cake we got to go. It's delicious but for me has to be eaten small amounts at a time. We would go again.

    Smokehouse wings

Wings tasted great minus the feathers Mac and cheese definitely tasted processed and cooked in a bag but you get what you pay for. Meat quality was pretty good and Cole slaw was pretty basic nothing extra ordinary Great and friendly staff!

Yummy barbecue chicken and ribs combo dinner!!

Had a good lunch for a reasonable price.. ribs were tender and chicken moist . Loved the breaded fried okra.. not greasy.. sweet potato casserole was very tasty and collards were good also.. we'll make this a regular for barbeque..

Went in at a slow time. I have a family member with cognitive issues and requires a little more time and patience. The group behind the counter literally tripped over themselves to welcome my family member. They described items, offered samples and then offered their favorites. One worker helped us to the table and checked in several times to see if she could help. The food was good, but that kind of service is impossible to find these days. I had to thank the manager for having such friendly staff.

A personal favorite. Never disappointed when trying new menu items. So many Texas-style BBQ choices. We ordered, what we thought was, pork belly burnt ends and made the mistake of asking for burnt ends which are not as specific. I believe what we ordered is actually beef but nonetheless very good. A member of the staff checked on us after we seated and was very attentive to our needs. The restaurant is very clean and well kept. This is a highly recommend from me. I can't wait to return! The birthday bomb looks amazing!

I made a reservation, and went to Ybor to visit. It was easy to locate. I found inexpensive metered street parking. It was a short walk to the establishment. We arrived. We were immediately seated upon arrival. This place was a whole vibe! The best seating! Every section looked like VIP!! We were assisted by Jillianne who was professional, super sweet, and had all the details about the menu. Collectively, we ordered the following. Get Your Roll On (Jerk Chicken and more in an empanada) - Well plated, VERY tasty, fulfilling A la carte: Catfish & Braised Collard Greens - Seasoned amazingly, huge portion size, very good. The music was right on point!! We truly enjoyed ourselves. I'm so glad we visited this business. I highly recommend !!

Fair warning: this place has two personalities -- a restaurant side and a much louder dance-party side that share the same building. We opted for the restaurant side, which was surprisingly not busy despite the earliest reservation we could get being 7:30pm on a weeknight. The menu blends classic soul food (fried chicken, mac and cheese) with a strong New Orleans Creole influence -- gumbo, jambalaya, fried seafood, cornbread. Portions are enormous. We started with the deviled eggs ("D'Evils"), topped with fried chicken bites and lemon pepper dust -- excellent and surprisingly filling for just four halves. We also got the Nolia Clip, a vegan gumbo base loaded with fried shrimp, crabmeat, turkey sausage, and a full catfish filet -- essentially an entree-sized bowl on its own. For entrees, the fried chicken plate ("Let's Stay Together") was a standout -- moist chicken, crispy crust, great mac and cheese and collard greens, though the cornbread muffins were bland and watery-tasting. My jambalaya ("Burning Blues") turned out to be nearly identical in ingredients to the gumbo appetizer we'd already had, just a bit thicker and in a bigger portion -- worth knowing before you order both. We left with a full meal's worth of leftovers and zero room for dessert. Food quality was great across the board (minus the cornbread), and portions are a serious value. Service was the weak point -- slow to seat and slow table-side all night. Good pick if you're after soul food with Creole flair and don't mind a leisurely pace.

He had the Mac and cheese and I had mashed potatoes since they were out of candied yams. We also both had yellow rice and collard greens. We also shared honey cornbread and hush puppies. Everything was VERY good!! There were a few downsides. We came on a Sunday evening and most of the food was sold out. The women who took our order said Sundays are also busy so we notated that for next time. The wait time is very long since the staff is limited. That day it looked like there were 2 or 3 people working. Lastly, I ordered a lemon poundcake and when I got home, it wasn't in the bag. I was pretty upset. The inside is nice, although very small so I would recommend getting the food to go. They don't allow call ins in advance so be prepared to wait. The staff were also very friendly. The meatloaf was well-seasoned, and I enjoyed it with the gravy. The mashed potatoes had a nice homemade texture, but the garlic was overpowering. The red beans were also too garlicky for my taste. I hope they consider using less garlic in both dishes. I had a small to-go portion of red beans and requested only a teaspoon of rice. The lady at the front said I would normally have to pay for it and then told me, "You know you already have rice in your container, right?" Her response came across as rude--especially because she had overlooked the fact that I paid $1.50 to upgrade from rice to mashed potatoes. Since the mashed potatoes replaced the rice, there was no rice in my container. The cook then came out, clarified that I had upgraded, and gave me a little bit of rice. It was enough and exactly what I had requested. The sweet potatoes could use more butter and sugar. They weren't very sweet and tasted a little too "potatoey." The macaroni and cheese isn't baked, but I liked it. Its creamy style reminded me of Louisiana-style preparations. The punch is very sweet, but I actually like that because you can add water and turn one serving into two cups! The lady at the front forgot to put my lemon pound cake in the bag, so thank God I checked before leaving. Despite some previous comments suggesting otherwise, the lemon pound cake is definitely homemade and tastes like a homemade pound cake. It was good--nothing to write home about--but it had a genuine homemade taste and was topped with confectioners' sugar. The cook mentioned that red beans and rice may become a regular menu item and that they may also offer a sweet red sauce option for the meatloaf. Those would be nice additions. The lady at the front also said they plan to move to a larger location in the future. The current location is small, but it is nice, neat, and clean, with a pleasant sitting area where customers can wait for their food. The food comes out piping hot, which adds to the homemade feeling--as though it came straight out of the pots in someone's home kitchen. Despite the issues, I would rather eat here than go for Chinese food. I'm sharing this feedback to encourage improvement, not to degrade the restaurant. There are some good flavors here, and with a few adjustments--and closer attention when packing orders--the experience could be much better.
