My 2016 taxes could have turned into a DISASTER if I had chosen to trust the wrong person to handle my confusing situation! I had three states to file plus federal taxes, a cross country move, W2's from 2 different states, stock sale and a closing of a 401k plan. Needless to say I was rather worried I would owe a huge sum of money. Stanley was referred to me by a co-worker that has trusted him with her business and personal finances for years. I made an appointment using the handy online form and quickly received a response from a friendly receptionist. ( I note friendly because most receptionists I've dealt with at various places in the valley are cold and unfriendly.) I was able to get the appointment time I requested. Great CPA. Quite knowledgeable on his knowledge. I just moved my adult daughter account for him to work on. My own return is a bit more complex, I use a top ten accounting firm. We were going to use Mr. Mroz to do our taxes for us. We are Canadian and wanted an American accountant to do our taxes for a US property we owned. We paid $215 dollars for a phone call which was suppose to give us a 30 minute credit if we did our taxes with him. Then I emailed and asked a question about a government website in regards to Transient Occupancy tax. He basically answered that I could look it up on the website and then gave the address to the website I already mentioned I was looking at. Then he sent a bill for $65. I said that I did not feel that was a fair charge and he could take it out of our credit because I was switching accountants. We then found an accounting firm who did all of our taxes for a $300 set price. Mr. Mroz has since sent a collection agency after us for the $65. read more
