I was a patient here from 2019 to 2025. In that time, I was repeatedly told I had deep gum pockets, bone loss, and gum recession. Yet after my first deep cleaning in 2019, I was never offered another one -- not once. No treatment plan. No referral to a periodontist. No options. Just the same story each year: "Probably aging or genetics." Cleanings and exams were rushed. Questions were brushed off. And it became clear over time that this practice, like many in-network offices, is more concerned with what insurance will reimburse than with what patients actually need. I was never even given the option to pay out of pocket for optimal care. When I finally pushed for another deep cleaning in 2025, the dentist said yes -- reluctantly -- but immediately emphasized the cost, said insurance wouldn't cover much, and offered to deep clean just a few teeth. That made no clinical sense considering the condition of my mouth. I later saw a periodontist who confirmed what I had suspected: I should've had full-mouth deep cleanings long ago. I had several deep pockets and many more borderline areas. In their words, it made no sense to numb a patient just to deep clean a few isolated teeth. In my opinion, this dentist negligently let my oral health deteriorate for years. The lack of proactive care, the insurance-first mindset, the bare-minimum approach -- all of it cost me time, money, and gum tissue. I've since moved on to an out-of-network dentist who treats comprehensively, not just what's billable. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you care about your long-term health. read more

staff and Dr Wong are very attentive and try to be nice to patient and I appreciate the effort. However the quality of service is not there -- knowledge, skill and thoroughness is noticeably lacking. A simple crown procedure caused severe infection which may damaged the gum and jaw bone and causing pain for quite a long time ( several months ) and adjacent implant loose. Dr. Wong and his staff are the best! Our kids have been going to see Dr. Wong for several years. Early this year my wife and I started going to Dr. Wong as well, and we are sorry we didn't do it sooner! I have sensitive teeth and so for me, my past cleanings involved sweating profusely while gripping the chair arms with white knuckles. However, since coming to Dr. Wong with his amazing team, I've had the most relaxing and enjoyable cleanings of my life!! My last dentist would zip in after the cleaning and zip right back out, throwing a "see you in 6 months" over his shoulder. Dr. Wong, on the other hand, takes the time to patiently explain everything and you can tell that he is very genuine and caring. Recently our daughter had a chunk of residual glue from her orthodontic work that was still stuck on one of her teeth. Great dentist! I felt safe going there after a long hiatus. He took every precaution to ensure that I could get a cleaning and exam without worrying about COVID. But the real advantage is that I fully trust him with my teeth. He has been super-conservative with making suggestions with any procedure. Dr Wong and his staff are VERY nice, attentive, non judgemental, thorough, knowledgeable, have a sense of humor, not trying just to take your money, so pretty much everything you'd be looking for in a dentist! I've moved around a lot so I've had my fair share of dentists and I put him in my top 3. His office is a little older, with not all the fancy shmancy high tech equipment that I'm used to, but he is able to do an amazing job without them because he's good at what he does (this tells a lot) and has been in the business for a bit. During COVID time, this couldn't have been the ABSOLUTE best I will give any business! To those of you who are even remotely concern of contracting Covid during this time, let me tell you the procedure they did that ease my mind and then some.... Upon arrival at the door, I wasn't allowed to step in, Dr. Wong himself checked my temperature, and oxygen level using his pulse oximeter after he sanitized it before and after use of both devices. He also did the Covid related questionnaire with 10+ questions to screen. Then, I sanitized again, and was placed in the treatment room. The dental hygienist had full PPE that included face shield, double gloves, goggles, double mask, booties, gown, hair net/cover. The receptionist had on a face shield and mask. The reception desk has an almost complete-coverage plastic shield. The window at the treatment room was 1/3 opened. After I was done with the procedure, they immediately turned on the fogger to fog the room that I was in. Bare in mind that during the entire time, I was the only patient there. Nobody was at the reception area. I respect this dentist greatly; his meticulousness showed even before COVID and it DEFINITELY extrapolated to the current condition. Thank you Dr. Wong!!! I am usually extremely scared of going to a dentist. I was one of those patients who was pretty fearful of any dental appointment. That is until I started coming to Dr. Wong. He's amazing!!! Dr. Wong and Elizabeth put me at ease, they explained the process and procedures clearly without pressuring me. Dr. Wong is not only extremely talented but is also so down to earth. He would make a great pediatric dentist since he is so patient and playful with children! From day one, he made my now 8 year old son feel comfortable. He even takes polaroid pictures of your child holding a giant toothbrush every appointment so you can watch them grow. I was originally introduced to Dr Wong several years back, but continued to go to my dentist until she no longer took my insurance. Dr Wong's practice is near my home and was very convenient. The first time I went to him, I was so impressed, the staff is so friendly, he was nice, funny, and most of all so conscientious and caring. What was I thinking going to another dentist all of those years. He is by far the best dentist I have ever met. Subsequently he saw my daughter, 13 years old, and my husband. my daughter switched from her pediatric dentist to Dr. Wong, and really loved him. Dr Wong and his staff are hands down the best. My girlfriend had been using Dr Wong for years and recommended him for a cavity that I had around an old filling. The situation was a little bit of an emergency due to the pain so he made the time to have me come in the same day and scheduled a filling two weeks later (which was today). Dr Wong was awesome, he did a great job with the filling, made sure to gauge my pain level during the filling, made it a point to know his patients personally, friendly, upbeat, and professional. The fist time I've visited Dr. Wong's dental office was actually the first time I did something with my teeth here in US and I must say that it was a really positive experience. He and his team were very accommodating, you could truly feel that they are not just after getting patients and doing things just for the sake of their job and earning money. They have genuine concern and they are happy with what they are doing. Dr. Wong ensured that I was comfortable in the dental chair as he could see that I was a bit scared. Not to mention, his dental work was really excellent. He definitely set my standards and expectations really high, it will be difficult for me to find another dentist like him now that I'm here in the east coast. I had an excellent experience with Dr. Wong. Dr. Wong and his staffs are very nice, caring and professional. I was always being scared of seeing a dentist but I think my dental fear was cured by their great sense of humor and excellent dental practice! I started going to Dr. Wong's office ~5 years ago after my husband found him close to his old job. Fast-forward to now, we're in San Francisco and still make the drive there. Our experience has been wonderful throughout this time, but recently these guys went above and beyond, hence the review. A few weeks ago, a tooth with an old root canal started feeling inflamed; I was in constant pain and had trouble falling asleep. Cleo (spelling?) got me in the office the same day even though they're currently working through the backlog from COVID. I was very impressed with hygiene measures they put in place for COVID: temp check, questionnaire, cleaning, social distancing; I felt safe. We did an x-ray, Dr. Wong checked on the tooth and didn't find anything special. He put me on penicillin and offered to squeeze me in for a cleaning appointment (last one a year ago due to COVID, next one scheduled for October). Cleo again did her magic and asked some other kind patient to move their time to get me in 2 days later. The cleaning was done gently and with proper care for the problem tooth. They also gave me a referral form to the root canal doctor in case these measures didn't help, so I wouldn't have to come in again for the form. After the antibiotics and cleaning, I'm back to normal. Dr. Wong called to check on me, as he'd promised he would. I'm a very happy patient and will keep returning to Dr. Wong's office as long as I can. From Dr. Wong, to the front office, to the support staff, these folks know what they're doing, and they do it with attention, kindness, grace, and good cheer. read more

If ever there were a mold for the perfect dentist, it would be Dr. Wong. I adore him and everyone at his practice and have never enjoyed trips to the dentist as much as I do when visiting Dr. Wong. Lynn, the hygienist, is the sweetest lady. She is also amazing at what she does, making your cleaning both thorough and painless. Dr. Wong is a delightful person who knows his stuff. He is amazingly fast and skilled at filling cavities and is genuinely friendly. You can tell he likes his patients and what he does. And he always sends me on my way with handfuls of free toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash, etc. I never appreciated Dr. Wong as much as I do now that I've had to visit other dentists (thanks to insurance restrictions). Other reviewers have already commented on Dr. Wong friendliness and care. They've also talked about the high quality of his staff. And I'd agree with those points. My comment is more about his craftsmanship. While I haven't trained as a dentist, I have had multiple crowns (unfortunately!) so I have basis for comparison. When Dr. Wong did my most recent crown, I noticed several things: - He custom cast a temporary crown that matched my prior tooth height, instead of using a generic, thin metal temporary. - He could do cubic zirconia crowns, which allowed keeping more of the original tooth than porcelain-fused-metal, have a more natural look, and are bio-stable like gold crowns. (Some "old-school" dentists don't offer this material, for some reason.) - The prep seemed careful and precise. Rotation-stabilizing grooves and just the right edge slope meant that my temporary crown snapped gently into place. (I popped it out a few times while flossing.) And the final crown sat at a perfect distance to the neighboring tooth: tight enough to exclude food, but not so tight as to block floss. On top of all that, he had the usual friendliness, efficiency, ensuring of my comfort, and showing me what was going on. Top notch work and highly recommended as a dentist. read more

We are long time patients of Dr. Wong's, AKA Stan. Recently I fell and broke one of my front teeth in half. Dr Wong's staff got me in the office and after two visits to the dental chair; perfection. You cannot tell my front tooth had been broken. Stan's office staff; front desk, dental assistant, hygienist are the best of the best. Dr. Wong is pretty much the ideal dentist. He obviously knows his craft well... but it's his personal connection that sets him apart. He's got a great team as well. I get cleanings from Terri every 4 months. She's thorough and patient every time. I've had root scaling issues before because other hygienists weren't as thorough. Since starting with Dr. Wong (and Terri) a few years ago, I've had no problems at all. Although I've recently moved down to Southern Cali, I'm having trouble finding a dentist that's as good. Doctor Wong was recommended to me by a friend and he was nothing but spectacular! He was super friendly and comforting and well knowledgeable about teeth and my care. His staff are exactly the same way. My mother was a dental assistant so I grew up going to one dentist office my whole life (through my 20s) and therefore going to the dentist was like seeing family and going to a second home. Excellent dental practice. They are very transparent on pricing and procedure for each visit. Dr. Wong and his assistants are professional and have amazing bedside manners; warm and calming. Stan Wong has been my dentist for the past 17 years. I've never had better treatment from any healthcare professional. I live in Oakland; his office is in Belmont (it's a 35-mile, 45 minute drive, plus a bridge toll). I started with him because my old dentist moved away and I was working in Sunnyvale. But then I stopped working down the peninsula but kept going to Dr. Wong for my dentistry. Some of my friends couldn't believe that I make that long trip when there are plenty of good dentists much closer to where I live. My view on it is don't mess around with your health, and when you find a health professional as high-quality as I have found Dr. Wong to be, stick with it--the extra drive a couple times a year is well worth it. Dr. Wong has performed a variety of procedures on me (crowns, filling) and the results have been excellent. He explains what he plans to do, and why; he explains the alternatives; he doesn't mind answering basic questions or very technical questions; he doesn't get defensive if you push back or challenge something. I've learned that Dr. Wong stays on top of the latest developments in dentistry, and also that he only adopts new practices that clearly offer enhanced benefits to the patient. He also has referred me to other specialists when necessary. Sometimes a doctor may be great, but the office admin/reception isn't. Thankfully, Dr. Wong's office has awesome staff. They are considerate--they don't make you feel rushed or unimportant--and they genuinely want the patients to have a good experience and a good outcome. And you can joke with them. Lastly, I have never had any doctor be so responsive and go the extra mile (or kilometer) the way Dr. Wong does. I have written Dr. Wong emails when I had a tooth issue, and he invariably responds within 24 hours. Of course, I respect his time, so I rarely do this, but when I do, it is nice to know that I am going to get a response from the doctor himself. When I rode a motorcycle alone across Africa, I had a question about something that was going on. I wrote to Dr. Wong, who knew I was on a big trip, and he responded within 4 hours. This review may sound almost too positive. So, let me be clear: I'm not related to Dr. Wong. I'm not getting anything for writing this. No one asked me to write it. In fact, I rarely write Yelp reviews. But, I've been seeing this guy for 17 years--and for 17 years I've been getting great treatment--in the chair, on the phone, and via email. Dr. Wong is all about the details!!! He really takes his time to make sure all your questions are answered and that you are totally comfortable about the procedures you need done. We were referred by our children's dentist for oral surgery and haven't looked back!!! He was so awesome even on routine things like cleanings that we switched over the entire family immediately!!! The only negative is his hours are limited. I totally understand though, as a mom who loves to spend time with my kids too.
