Requested stairs and hallway be cleaned. Dogs peed in hallway while away for vacation. ( Hired grandson to house sit??) They looked over the size of job and confirmed quote price. Were pleasant, respectful of property and wore booties. Payment was easy and did not require scrolling through a tip screen, which i hate. Carpet was left damp as expected but odor was gone. Stairs were wetter than hallway. Perhaps need to run their vacuum hose on stairs twice? ? Used wet vac on stairs as well as using fans to help dry the stairs. See video. read more

The employee was very nice. However we had a sleeper couch cleaned although he never opened it. When we opened it up to use weeks later, the mattress was damp and totally stained. It seems as though the employee should have opened the couch before cleaning the rest of the couch. We were not given a refund . We previously used Stanley Steemer for dryer duct cleaning, which was fine. But we had a terrible experience more recently being strung out when trying to get help addressing water damage. After the recent torrential rain, one of our basement windows filled up and we got water damage in our basement. I called Stanley Steemer on Tuesday afternoon and the national call center told me a local manager would get back to me within 10-15 minutes (they did not). 5 hours later I called back, and was told a local manager would contact me within a few hours (they did not). I called back on Wednesday as was told "you're on the list, but they are very busy and are going through the list in order." I called back on Thursday and was told "you'll definitely get a call back today, but they may not be able to get to you today." They did call back today, and left a voice mail: "we heard that you called for water damage and asked for a call back. We won't be doing any water damage service. Bye." I assume that they are measured by how quickly they get people off their queue, they probably had too many people on their queue and decided to kick people off. My guess is that in their internal system they marked us down as having cancelled our request even though they cancelled it. So now we are several days late and lost time in addressing the situation. They should have just told us initially they couldn't help us. read more

I must say I'm happy be with the cleaning service provided. But I was overcharged. 4 rooms instead of 2. I was trying to call the supervisor sever times. They claim that they called me back. But their caller ID is unidentified, and I get so many spam calls so I don't answers. Eventually the lady who answered the call yelled at me and didn't try to resolve the issue, beside telling me that I should take a break from work and call them at hours that more convenient for them. Then Stanley Steemer called and asked how they might make things better. I allowed them to return today and reclean the carpet I was most concerned with. They did inform me that the stains will not be removed but they said they will shampoo, clean and do the odor treatment which will take 30 minutes. I said I wanna take the odor treatment off but they said they can't change the invoice. I still went ahead with them. The whole thing was done in 10 minutes and I was charged $134. Therefore I scheduled 2 area rugs for cleaning at 137.00 to which the sales rep took $20. off the original price. The day of service, Juan walked in and immediately accused me of booking the wrong job. He alleged that I booked 2 rooms instead of area rugs. Then he proceeded to tell me that one rug would be $400. that I don't really want the rugs clean. I tried to clear up the booking misunderstanding but Juan walked off the job. Gentlemen were very nice, but did try to tell me that my small bath & kitchen were oversized (when I booked it I had asked on the phone if they needed dimensions but she had said no & quoted the price). So I said don't do the bathroom, then they said they won't charge me the extra. After they left, I went around cleaning baseboards & discovered the high traffic areas were very dirty. Not cleaned at all and when we swiffered the bathroom it foamed up, so clearly the cleaner had not been vacuumed up. We spent the afternoon re-cleaning all of our floors. We didn't want them to come back & asked for a credit, but was told all they could offer was another cleaning. Like I want to spend another Saturday cleaning "cleaned" floors. I hired Stanley Steemer to clean a tile floor, couch and love seat and a rug. The customer service representative made clear that the furniture and rug would be dry to sit on. When I returned home, the couch and rug were soaked. I had to set up fans to dry them, something that took hours. More importantly though, the crew removed a part from my bathroom sink - I suspect to run water for their machine - and broke the faucet. Water shot everywhere. I called the Marlborough location to discuss the problem and was told the crew didn't report the broken faucet to their supervisors. I spoke with an employee who was dismissive (he was talking and laughing to the side while on the phone with me.)Despite numerous, numerous requests to speak with the manager, I've yet to receive a call back and am told by the employee that they 'don't know what else I want.' The lack of service and customer service is astounding. I wish I could give them zero stars. read more

First, the technician are just sales people and will tell you to use their service unless there is something they can not do at all. They get a fee to get you to use their services. They will lie that they will do X and Y to get you to use their services. For example, I told the technician I want to use your cleaning service for my hardwood floors because of these spots. Can you clean these spots? Can you test if it will work? NO, they won't do it at all. The technician KNEW there is NO way that the service will work but still said he would try. By the way, the other technician who did not speak English did a great job at cleaning but the English-speaking one (called RONALD) did not watch him so he did not see that non-English speaking one was banging the hose against my WHITE baseboard. I was getting my house painted so it worked out. But, they damaged my WHITE baseboards on my second level. RONALD also took the whole tip and did share with other technician. The service to clean my rug was $480, which was shocking when I now see people being quoted at $150. SO I know they just up charged me because of my house. I WISH NEVER USED THIS F%%% service. When RONALD delivered my rug, he tried to up sell me 4 times while having his shoes on my clean rug. He was okay with damages my hardwood floors because they did not have furniture moving supplies with him. But the other technician (who was smart and saw I was upset gave me an idea to use a blanket to place the furniture on and move it). By the way, the other technician took off his shoe. I've used Stanley Steemer in a pinch and will no longer use them, nor will I recommend them. They'll quote you a rate but then when they get there there's always something that puts it at a much higher rate. For example I had an area rug, bound on sides, they charged me extra because it was not wall to wall - what's the difference? Nothing. I called Stanley Steemer because my basement carpet needed to be cleaned. I also scheduled a tile cleaning for 2 hallways that would be the size of one small room. When the 2 men showed up they argued with me that the hallway was 2 rooms and charged double, then argued that my basement was 2 rooms and again charged double. Felt like it was a bait and switch. Very upsetting to argue with a very condescending Stanley steamer employee. They cleaned the carpet and the results were not great I had a few stains that I really wish they had cleaned. I don't know why I didn't do more research before booking Stanley Steemer. I spent $500 and it was a complete waste. First of, they charged me the sectional rate for my sofa. It's a chaise plus couch, so way smaller than the typical sectional. Secondly, and most importantly, my couch and carpet are not actually clean. My son spilled some applesauce on the couch the night before and instead of getting a wet towel to clean it up, knowing they were coming, I just used a paper towel to wipe it up. After it dried, I realized I can still feel where the applesauce was. The couch and carpet smelled good for about 24 hours but after that it still smells like a stinky, old couch. I'm going to have to pay someone else to clean it, and I'm going to replace the carpet so the $500 was a very steep price for absolutely nothing. read more

We've had Stanley Steemer clean our carpet and wool rug previously and were satisfied. a few weeks ago, we had cleaning done again. There were 2 problems. First, our wool rug, which was cleaned nicely before, now has many tufts sticking up. I think this is because the person cleaning the rug was too rough with the machine, pushing it over and over the rug at a rapid pace (he appeared to be expending a lot of energy). The rug is clean, but the nap does not lie smoothly. Second, while at our house, the lead service person suggested that they clean one of our Persian/oriental rugs; this rug is part silk. The result was not good, and I do not recommend that anyone have their oriental rugs cleaned this way. The nap of the rug and coloration look uneven (as thought it was wetted only in various places), and the rug is still rough to the touch in many places rather than "smooth as silk.". Again, I think the person cleaning the rug (or the other one who extracted the water) was too rough on the rug. read more

Excellent Service! After coming home from a 6 day stay in the hospital I found that my wall to wall carpets were in bad shape with multiple pet stains from my 2 dogs! The 2 young men who cared for my rugs were able to clean not only the rugs that I had asked for but the entire house! Every stain was removed easily and throughly removed and the odor was completely taken away. I commend both young men for being able to do a complete cleaning and both were personable and accommodating to my needs. Everything was replaced carefully and the odors were gone. I was so relieved and definitely would recommend their services again and plan to definitely use this company at least annually for as long as I own my home! Think twice before you work with this location. The first part of the process was good (timely, nice people, helpful advice when they were over). It was after that things went downhill. They took my rug in to be cleaned twice. Both times the stains were still there. After the first time, the guy on the phone said if the stains are still there, they would provide a refund. When they dropped off the rug the second time, the delivery guy agreed the stains were still visible and reach out to Rick the manager. Multiple calls where I would get the "Rick's not here but I'll have him call you". I'm sure he was there but just didn't want to bother with this issue. Weeks went by with no response. Stanley Steemer did come back to work on one stain again free of charge, but the 10 minutes they spent here originally making the rugs wet with their machine did absolutely nothing to make the rugs any cleaner. There is absolutely no difference. We had moved in about 6 months before Stanley Steemer came and the carpet was already quite dingy. I knew not to expect a miracle, but I did expect to see SOME change. There was none to see. The carpets still stink and are just as dirty as ever. But my pocketbook changed: it's $100 lighter. So, I used Stanley Steemer for the first time today. To be frank, I couldn't possibly be more disappointed with my experience. Let me walk you through all of the issues. First, I was scheduled for an appointment from 8-11 this morning (Tuesday, 1/8/19, Stoneham, MA). I called the evening before to see if I could find out where I was on the list of appointments for the time frame, they told me to call back in the morning. I called back in the morning and was informed that I was first on the list out of three appointments and that they would call when they were on their way. So I took off of work and waited in the empty condo. Two and a half hours pass before I receive another call. At 10am they tell me that there has been delays due to the snow and that they wouldn't be there until 12. I encourage you to look at the weather report for the day and join me in my astonishment that less than an inch dusting early in the morning delayed anyone trying to do anything. And now join me in laughing that it meant they were delayed four hours. What kind of business in New England is this? Why wasn't I told at 7:30am when I called that there were delays? If there were delays they would have already begun but no one said that to me. When I was informed of the delay the man on the phone offered no remorse or offering to rectify the situation, showing complete lack of customer service abilities. This is major issue number one which involved multiple accounts of poor customer service. On to my second major issue. The cleaners did a horrible job. In fact I'm not even sure they cleaned all that they were supposed to. I asked for two carpeted rooms, one hardwood, and one tile bathroom. One bedroom is barely even damp, so far from a deep clean that a toothbrush would have done a better job. The tile in the bathroom was most certainly not cleaned at all. I am now out $284 and half a days work for a cleaning job that I will need to do over. They are overpriced and under deliver. You're better off doing the job yourself. read more

Do not ever let them touch your hardwood floors. They came to clean my hardwoods and left them all scratched. I mentioned the marks to the technician when he was finished so he proceeded to squirt a liquid cleaner over all the floors with a cloth and said the marks are normal and would be gone when it dried. We purchased a 1 year old home and hired Stanley Steemer to clean the carpets. The carpets were in great shape - just wanted them refreshed. The individual who was cleaning the carpets upstairs dropped a metal "sprayer" down our hardwood floor staircase onto the hardwood floor at the bottom of the stairs damaging both in the process. He was extremely apologetic - this was fine. I was not angry until now... 3 weeks later & NOTHING has been done. The company did not provide my rug cleaning service free of charge, the "owner" was supposed to call me the following business day and did NOT, I had to reach out to them! Now I am waiting for a carpenter who will come to my location to fix the floor. I am so disappointed in the follow-up I've received by Stanley Steemer - not to mention the mess they will create if my floor is ever repaired. I would have expected better service. read more

I have always had a positive experience using Stanley Steamer. They always come on time, they are always very polite, and they are always very honest about the work they do. I have a lot of carpet stains due to having two dogs. Most of the stains come out completely and maybe one or two larger stains fade almost entirely. I realize that some stains are just impossible to get out 100%. However, my carpets always look so much better after they treat them. It is always a noticeable difference. I paid $597 dollars to have carpets in my home cleaned. Though the cleaning met my expectations, the process flooded my home with so much carbon monoxide that I was forced to leave for over 2 hours. The fire department had to bring industrial fans to clear out the poison. I have never been so thankful for my carbon monoxide alarms. Had they malfunctioned, my family and I would be gone. Oh, and Stanley Steemer's response? After 5 phone calls, a manager finally called to offer a 20% discount on my next cleaning. It is laughable to think that I would let them in my house again.
