The worst service I've ever received, today, 9/19/2025. Stanley Steamer overpromissed to me and under delivered.They promised to clean ducts/vents in the morning and clean carpets in the afternoon. The duct techs came at the same time as the carpet cleaners, which made no sense. Due to duct cleaning mess, they should go first, followed by carpet cleaning. To add insult to injury, one of the duct cleaners was very rude, prompting me to leave this disparaging company review. Now I know why Stanley Steamer is not the best carpet cleaners in St. Louis. I had Stanley Steemer out to clean my hardwood floors. Cost approximately $600 for my whole first floor. Did not see a noticeable difference in the cleanliness of my floors. They came back a second time - no improvement. Their website claims their process "extracts dirt, leaving your hardwood floors spotless." It doesn't. There is still dirt in the grain of the wood and between the boards. The only thing they did after two cleanings was give me a $225 refund. I wanted and expected clean floors. Disappointing. There is apparently a huge disconnect between their sales/booking office and the "contractors" doing the job. The sales woman, (in Texas) that sold my wife this grout cleaning job said it would be billed per room. As soon as there rep arrived he said the kitchen was to big and would count as two rooms. Not a big deal as we didn't understand how they could do it on a per room basis. My wife explicitly told sales woman it was a big room and didn't even want to hear the size which we knew. The sales person also stated that they would bring the color seal with then. They didn't. Sales said that process would be done as shown on website. Website showed technician using a brush on joints and a circular, surface type cleaner. Neither were used. They used a carpet cleaning applicator/brush that sprayed warm water and the carpet cleaning extractor/vacuum picked up water. The whole job, 600 sq/ft, took 30 minutes and left a film residue. After the 30 minute cleaning my wife was afraid to let him seal the floor and sent him on his way. She is now washing floor to remove film/residue. read more

The tech was late (not within the time frame stated). The price quoted on the phone to me was doubled when the tech came. He was combative when confronted about the amount and said the company has no idea how to quoted the priced cleaning and he could just leave. A friend of mine asked me to recommend a company to get his ductwork cleaned. I recommend Stanley Steamer. They came out and "completed" the work. I came out a week later and this is what i found. Many would think this pic is the before picture but it's actually the after picture. They literally did nothing but hook up the vacuum and charge him money. He did call to complain and they sent someone out to redo it. He stated that he didn't realize the other guy didn't clean this when they were out there originally. I'm gonna try to not be too salty and give an honest review here. First thing I want anyone reading this review to know is that when I called Stanley to complain they immediately spoke to me to remedy the issues. They tried best to fix the issues I had and their customer service gets a 10/10. The gentleman they sent to our home to clean our carpets was a pretty darn nice guy. He came out to the house twice because he had to completely redo his work the first time and he didn't complain once and worked with integrity. Now on to the actual complaint. If you think that Stanley is actually going to clean your carpets..... then don't schedule a service. What they do is not carpet cleaning. Their deodorizer isn't actually capable of deodorizing anything. They do not use any real cleaning solutions, just enzymes for deodorizing and slight.... and I mean incredibly slight.... stain removal. (Like.... if you spilled while they were in your home they might be able to clean it up.... maybe...) The truth is that all they really did was use a fancy warm water vacuum on our carpets. Nothing got cleaned. The smells that were there before were there two days after they left. Frankly, they didn't really do anything. The only task they accomplished was fluffing up the carpet which was actually greatly appreciated. A week after they came through our home my wife and I just decided to go spend 100$ at home depot to rent two rug doctors and when we shampooed all the carpets properly the water ran straight black with dirt and grime. If you want your carpets actually cleaned you need to go do it yourself. If you want them to just get fluffed up and remove some dust you can call stanley. read more

Update: Stanley steamers contacted me immediately and resolve the issues. In late December 2020 I have my ductwork "Professionally" cleaned by stanley steemer. I should made a complaint sooner, but I avoid confrontation at all costs. The way they left my return & register covers bugged me until I cracked in July of 2021. I didn't expect them to do anything other than maybe apologise and possibly speak with the technicians who visited me to avoid this outcome for future customers. They customer service rep I spoke with seemed to care less. The only thing she told me was that they couldn't do anything about it now and that was basically the end of the conversation. No apologies offered. They broke the cover plate of my living room floor register, screwed my hallway return covers over one another, and completely left my sealing duct cover hanging with only once screw in it. I was also told I would get to see before and after pictures of the ducts. That didn't happen and when I asked the gentleman doing the work, he just told me "sorry, I didn't know.". They were by far the cheapest option, but I guess I got what I paid for. read more

I needed carpet on stairs and landings cleaned, and wood floors in living room and dining room after a beloved (and incontinent) pet died. The website said the attendants might not move furniture, but mine said they would move all the furniture and replace it, no big deal. HOWEVER - Negatives: They missed an entire spot of cat pee which had crystallized by the time I found it behind an easy to move chair and end table. Further, there is black staining on the wooden floor that did not exist before their cleaning treatment. I have called and emailed the local Stanley Steemer in St. Louis area that provided the service, was told that the "operations manager" would get back to me. That was over 2 months ago (with reminders) and nothing. Silence. Crickets. I will not use this service again. read more

Make sure you get a written estimate for the work you want done. They did an nice job on my carpet so I hired them to clean and repair the grout on my kitchen floor. The worker did a brief demonstration of cleaning the grout to sell an additional process of color sealing the grout. This is an expensive procedure. I now have clean, color sealed cracked grout! The first time Stanley Steemer was to come out they said they didn't have the right equipment with them to clean our HVAC system (anyone who's ever worked in a field where you have to go to a random place to install or fix something knows you always bring any tool you might need for the job because you never know what to expect). The best part is, instead of running to their office to grab what they needed to do the job and come back, they just canceled the appointment and made us reschedule for another two weeks later. When they attempted to come out for the new appointment, they drove past twice (or rather, flew by way to too fast to possibly see the street numbers) and upon the second pass just bailed and canceled the appointment. No call. No text. No anything. I only found out after trying to flag them down for 20 minutes and calling their main number where I was finally given this information. The person I talked to on the phone said they'd call back, but I've not received a phone call yet... Needless to say, we will be using another company for this job. After this experience, there's no way, even if they found the place and brought the right equipment, that I'd trust them to do a good job with the work ethic they've demonstrated so far. read more

I don't have an issue with the cleaning - it is what it is. Our carpets are old so they look relatively clean and uniform in color. But the guy was only here about a half hour and charged us $160 for a small living room, a large bedroom, and some stairs. My main issue was that he showed up without a mask or any type of ID, and until I challenged him after he had started to set up his equipment, I did not know he was NOT VACCINATED against COVID. What kind of company sends workmen who are not vaccinated into peoples' homes without a mask, any ID, or at least explain their status BEFORE they start work? We've had a few workmen come in before this, and they ALL wore masks, booties, and spoke candidly about their COVID status. I blame myself for even allowing him into our home (he DID put on a mask after I asked), but it was the day before Thanksgiving and my wife wanted the carpets cleaned. I just think it is very poor business practice to send unvaccinated workers out representing a company without stating this fact in their web advertising and on the phone when booking the service. Be warned, consumers, that for whatever reason Stanley Steemer does not require their employees to be vaccinated against COVID, does not require them to wear masks when entering customers' homes, and does not train them to advise people of this information. The quality of their service is adequate, but at a high cost. If I could give them zero stars I would. Scott and Ian came to clean my dryer vent on the 2nd floor. When I made the appointment I told them they needed a 3 story ladder. They don't even own a ladder like this he tells me when they showed up. They couldn't even complete the job, there is still debris hanging out of my vent. Knocks of 10% and thinks this solves it. They're supposed to send out a service manager to fix it. I sure hope he can fix it. I am very disappointed by their lack of completing a job and customer service. I would never recommend them again. I have an air filter in front of a vent that is in one corner of our house.Its been there and was on the day the "cleaning" was done. I have cleaned it, vacuumed it, sprayed it with lysol and still can't get the flashing red light that says it's not working right to go out. We had our 18-year-old basement carpet cleaned today. This carpet has been abused by one storm phobic Beagle, a cat with a UTI and a host of teenage boys. Yes, dog and cat pee, poop and barf. Ground in Skittles. Rust from the runners on the couch where said teenage boys spilled soda and didn't tell anyone. Then the smell. Omg. Our plan was to replace it but we thought let's try Stanley and see if we can get more life out of it. Jeramey and Gregory came out and about an hour later, it's clean! I mean no stains and no smell. I've been down there ten times just standing and smelling. I can't say enough about these two. They were professional, friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. They gave us great tips on how to deal with future incidents. We will be repeat customers and will ask for these two again. Thank you guys! read more

Second time Stanley Steemer did not live up to their hype. Damaged hose spewed filthy water all over my rugs and tile floors. I declined booking my Saturday to "discuss" it with a "manager" at my home. Obviously, my floors will be sanitized by then. Not good customer service. Will go back to Woodard in the future. We had a coupon, so called stanley steamer. Mistake. A man showed up and didn't introduce himself, he stood in the open door playing with an iPad while we looked on. We facilitated the communication. "You want the protectant? Its $25 a room." He asked. I declined graciously, but he responded, "Ok but I'm gonna remove all the protection from your carpets." Not a strong sell. We handed him the coupon. I wasn't aware my hoses would be used, but they were connected to his truck and then a big dirty hose was thrown around my clean house by one person. He braced himself with muddy hands against my walls as he tossed the hose around. It seems an additional person helping may have removed the grass clippings and prevented the paint damage I received. I wiped walls and helped with the hoses as fast as possible. "I'll clean that, sir," he stated, but never produced any cleaning supplies, or even a rag before he left. I cannot vacuum my house as fast as he cleaned these carpets. I mean 15 minutes, maybe 20, for three rooms and a stairwell. No extra time was spent on spots or high traffic areas. It was as if my home was all that stood between him and a week of vacation. We were told that small items would be scooted around the rooms, however, not a single item was moved. Not the baby's lightweight crib, not any of the chairs, nor the bedside tables. I asked why, and he said, "Not allowed to move anything over 50 pounds." It's not that heavy items weren't moved, it's that no attempt at all was made to move a single thing. I had even placed furniture on sliding devices, and would have jumped in to help, but he was packing up before we noticed. There was a 3x3 landing at the bottom of the stairs that we noticed he hadn't done, after he put all his equipment on our porch. When we inquired as to why he hadn't cleaned the tiny area that we thought was part of the steps, he stated, "Well thats another $3.50." If It was offered, I would have paid it, but we were just ready for him to win his race against time, or whatever, and leave. Addendum: A few hours later the office returned my call regarding this experience. They offered to have someone redo my carpets. I didn't want to clean up after another crew and declined, but they are going to cash my check all the same. Called,made appointment to have carpet in finished basement cleaned as I had water get in my carpet during 12 inches of rain. I used home Carpet cleaners to remove all water. Ran a dehumidifier for weeks. Told Scheduler all of this. When Stanley Steemer shows up which was 5 minutes. from the 4 hour window even though I had text messages tell me they would be here 30 minutes before they showed up. Employee ask a couple questions about the carpet and then said he had to call Supervisor because I had water. He came back and said they couldn't clean them. How do I give no stars? I'll make this short. All they did was make the carpet wet. When I had them return after seeing no difference, they made it wetter. I had some Mr. Clean in a bucket and thought I would hit a few spots that were terrible. My cleaning rag was brown as you can see from the picture below. It was a clean beige towel. The technician said my cleaner probably had bleach in it. Mr. Clean doesn't contain bleach. I requested a refund when I called the office but was told that my using Mr. Clean would negate any refund. My dog is 3 now. But the puppy years are hard on a carpet. Some of the rooms simply stunk. Its easy to rack up charges when steam cleaning carpets. Just cleaning the carpets is one cost, then you'll be sold on the deodorizer and then the scotch guard. I got 4 bedrooms cleaned plus two hallways and stairs for $423. The cost hurt... especially considering that it only took them about an hour to do everything. But my house smells so much better and the carpets look tremendous. Ron & Christina were my techs. If I could rate less than a zero I would. I was having company over the holidays and wanted to freshen up my sofa. I called and scheduled an appointment. My first clue that this wasn't a legitimate cleaning company was when the technician brought in the machine to clean and a huge wad of blond hair ( that wasn't mine) blew onto my sofa. He also dropped the heavy metal head of the vacuum on my floor and took a small sliver of my wood out of my floor. I thought it's ok I'll just cover it with a wood color marker. The technician cleaned my sofa and then set the sofa cushions on my red cherry floor to dry. Long story short my red cherry wood floor bled onto the cushions. He also told me to put them back on the sofa in a few hours. I called the next day to tell them that the cushions had stains on them. They eventually sent another team out to clean them. They tried everything but the stains remained. They figured out how my cushion were stained. They asked if I'd allow them to take the cushions to their facility to try and clean them. I agreed but said I needed them back in three days. Noah was supposed to come get them on December , 2020 but they sent a random employee to pick them up. He didn't have any bags or protective covering to protect my cushions from further stain damage. I had to call countless times to find out the status. They finally brought them back on December 10, 2020. I received a call on December 9, 2020 and said the cushions looked great. When they were delivered back to my home they were returned in the same black garbage bags I sent them in. There was absolutely no change in the stains on the cushions. I doubt they even tried to clean them. I called again to tell them there was no change in the stains. I received the run around. A person named Mary was who I talked to. She was going to call me right back once she talked to the OKC. I didn't hear anything from Mary. I called several times and kept getting passed around. I asked to speak with the corporate customer service. I talked to Darrell on December 11, who seemed to care. He said he'd get back to me by December 15th. Finally on December 17, I received a voicemail from Jasmine. I was at a funeral for a dear friend that passed away from Covid. I returned the call on December 18, and I left a message. I left another message for Jasmine on December 21. I never received a call back from Jasmine. Stanley Steamer Mary called December 28, I missed the call but called her back within 28 minutes and left a voice Mail. Mary didn't call me back, I tried again on the December 29, 2020 and went to voicemail I left another message. I didn't receive a return call from Mary. I called Stanley Steamers regular number and talked to Libby and I asked to talk to another corporate customer service rep. She wanted to send me to OKC to speak with Noah and I said no I haven't received any results from him. Then she wanted to send me back to Mary that had never returned a call to me and I said absolutely not. Libby put me on hold to talk with her manager. I was on hold for 5 minutes. When she came back on the line she said her manager was trying to reach someone. They sent me to Jasmine again. Jasmine wanted me to send pictures. I couldn't believe they didn't have pictures after all the time they'd had my cushions. Jasmine said she'd look into it and call me back. I reminded her that she'd told me that before but didn't. She did call me back that day an told me that they were turning the claim over to insurance. I was finally contacted on January 7; 2021 by insurance. He told me he needed pictures and a statement. I sent him pictures, a statement and all the documentation I had of the run around that started on November 19, 2020. I had to go through all of this while grieving for a dear friend that has been family. Stanley Steamer has caused me additional stress because of all the run around and dealing with this issue for almost two months. Mr. Dippel the insurance rep for Stanley Steamer is offering me $250 for my sofa and a signed release for damages. He also suggested if I wasn't satisfied I could turn it into my homeowners insurance. What an insult. I'm not stupid and I do not want to have my insurance rates go up because of Stanley Steamers mistake. I cannot find the receipt for my sofa so $250 is the best they can do. My sofa was in excellent condition besides a few spots that they got out. I would still have a pristine sofa for several year if it wasn't for them ruining it. The company I purchased from has went out of business. I plan to contact their CEO and take them to small claims court. I'm out at least $1,500 because of their mistake. FRAUDS! I hired Stanley Steemer in October, 2017, even though their price was about twice what other carpet cleaning services charge because they are "bonded and insured." I had recently inherited some items from my in-laws' estate and wanted safe and careful people in my home. After the cleaners left, I noticed that a ring was missing from my bedroom. I don't know how it went missing, but it is missing. I waited until I had thoroughly searched the room before contacting Stanley Steemer and was told that I had to file a police report and then they would "fully cooperate" with the police. I filed a police report that same day. A few weeks later, the police called me back and said that Stanley Steemer wouldn't return their calls or permit them to interview the people who had cleaned my carpets. I called Stanley Steemer and learned that the initial person I had talked to had left the company and I should talk with Sarah Schwartz, Operations Manager. A few times I tried to call her and couldn't get in touch with her, and she didn't return the messages I left. I finally got in touch with her and she told me I am a liar and that I'm just trying to commit insurance fraud. She said Stanley Steemer would do nothing to replace the ring that went missing while their employees were cleaning my home. Ms. Schwartz said that my only redress was to get the police to investigate and determine who stole my ring (I never said it was stolen!), get the prosecuting attorney to agree to prosecute a case, and get a conviction against an individual and then try and get restitution from that individual. The Stanley Steemer representation of "bonded and insured" is a COMPLETE LIE! They're rude, disrespectful crooks. PS -- they did a lousy job of cleaning my carpets and sofa. The first appointment I could get online was for April 12 between 8am-12p for air duct cleaning. I took the appointment and called the office on March 16 and spoke with a very pleasant Ann. I explained that our house is 94 years old with the AC unit in the attic of a two story home with flex and metal vents on a spider system. We just did a reno and do not want to turn on the air conditioner until the ducts were cleaned. Since we had 2 appointments with other companies that didn't work because on the day of the job, they realized they couldn't do the work because they didn't have the right equipment, or small enough equipment to fit thru the attic scuttle, or long enough hoses to reach the attic from the second floor, I wanted to have Stanley Steemer come out to look at the job first, rather than waiting until April 12th to find out once again, the work would not be done. Ann said that she would have the manager Mark call to set up a time to come and look at the situation first. Mark didn't call March 16 or March 17. I called back Friday March 18 in the morning and again talked with Ann. Again, she was very pleasant and nice. She had asked Mark to call us. She said she would have him call us back that day. At 4:45pm I still had not gotten a call from Mark. I called Ann back, who was still very nice even though I was very upset that I had waited Weds, Thurs, and Friday for a simple phone call from Mark. She said Mark was gone already for the day and weekend. I told Ann that I needed to hear from him before 10am on Monday, 3/21 so we can see if this work could be done or not. Well, Mark didn't call again. How hard is it for a manager to return a customer's call?? Several calls? It would benefit both Stanley Steemer and the customer to know before the scheduled appointment whether or not they can do this particular job. That way my time and their time is not wasted. Nope. The manager cannot be bothered to pick up the phone and return a call. So I have learned that when the manager of a company has an I don't give AF attitude towards the customer, the techs that work for them will have the same attitude. Would give zero stars if possible. Company came to clean carpet, the kitchen and entry way tile and grout. The carpets didnt look clean they didnt even move the furniture to clean underneath. The left a ton of water on the tile and once it dried I noticed tons of grout missing in both the kitchen and entryway. They blame the missing grout on the tile not being installed properly and are excepting no fault. Do not use this company. They are awful. read more
