I filed the below review back on 4/24 and never heard from the company. We spent over $700 on that day for a host of services and yet, no one from the company offered to help, investigate or refund any or all of the cost. If Stanley Steemer had taken the theft seriously, I would have commended them for taking action. Instead they ignored it and I assume the thief is still working for the company. Shame on Stanley Steemer. 4/24 Review: Have used the Rockford Stanley Steemer before but, had a crew out on a recent Saturday to clean carpets, tile floor and, ended up adding cleaning of a leather couch while they were on the job. This was a pretty big job. 1. I was not quoted accurately for the couch cleaning and when the bill was tallied, I was charged a huge amount for a simple wipe down. 2. One of the crew members helped themselves to my mother's purse. Took the whole thing with them. While we missed pulling it out of the room where the couch was cleaned before they arrived, apparently too tempting. 1 crew member was on her own for an hour in that room and just took it! They TOOK a 92-year-old woman's purse. Her SS card, Veterans Admin card, cash, credit card, checkbook. We filed a police report, and I called the manager of the facility. I was not offered anything but a "sorry - hard to hire, staff is normally good...." Careful before you invite them into your home. Very disappointed and appalled. read more

I have used Stanley Steemer, in the past, with pretty good results and a lot of effort shown. This time, not so much. I spent $222 for a little less than an hours worth of work, after set up. I was given the "big sell" about deoderizing and things went downhill from there. I was adamantly told what they could NOT move, even though the ad says in effect, leave the moving of furniture to us, and that it was unlikely the "traffic patterns" would not come clean. This was all before starting/trying/putting in some effort. Honestly why would I want my carpets cleaned if not for the traffic dirt?? I mean everything else looks pretty good! Anyway I did have "Ron" re-clean a traffic spot again and it came out great! Makes me wonder what a little more effort would have looked like. Definitely NOT impressed with the level of customer service and negativity! Oh and did I mention....Ron's been doing this for 30 years??? Watch the video, Ron!!! Update: Kendra, from customer service, addressed my concerns and frustrations in a hurry. Today she sent out Dave and Matt, at no charge, who gave 100% effort to my "traffic patterns" and it made a difference!! Thank you for making this situation right! We called them last week for minor water seepage from a window well. They ripped up our carpet and removed 1/2 the padding without attempting to dry it. They charged a very high rate for services and didn't even put the room back together. We were told to call a carpet installer to buy new padding. I WILL NEVER USE STANLEY STEEMER AGAIN. CLEARLY NOT QUALIFIED FOR WATER RESTORATION!!!! read more

Cant do upholstered carnasses as wood backed!! So please don't expect them to clean any upholstered furniture for you. They only did a half a__ job on carpet. Had used for years .. Now, idiots or what? So very very sad read more

I had Stanley Steemer come to my house and shampoo my carpets & they did an excellent job. I was afraid that most of the stains wouldn't come out but they all came out better than what I expected. Richard & Keith did amazing at their job. I most definitely will have them come back. read more

We have used this company before and were pleased, but this time was different. They told me they'd arrive between 2-5 pm and that they'd text half an hour before they were coming. At 4:55 I called to see what was going on and this time was told they would be there between 2-6. When they arrived at 5:05 I asked why they hadn't texted me and the guy told me they don't do that. I said the office said you would. He said no, we don't ever text anyone. We never know when we are coming. Then they insisted I pay up front before the work was done, because it was an empty house. So I instead stayed through the cleaning so that I could make sure it was ok before I paid. The job they did was decent, but this company needs some lessons on courtesy and communication. read more

We recently moved and had Stanley Steamer come to our old house to clean the bedroom carpets before we put the house up for sale. When the guys left the carpet looked decent. However, once the carpets dried you could still see the stains pretty bad. I had a friend bring over a carpet stain remover that she bought at WALMART and almost got every single stain OUT. What a waste of $135. I will never use Stanley Steamer again. read more

I had Stanley steamer come out to clean my living room carpet after all of my kids had the stomach flu and didn't make it to the bathroom. Two men came out. As soon as they got there I told them I would help them move the couch so they didn't tear the kitchen floor. The older man named Randall did not listen to me and scooted my couch and ripped my kitchen floor. At that point he panicked and asked what he could do to make it right. I suggested we call the company and have them come out and help us. He informed me the company would not help and he would put a free sealant on my floors if we could just call it even. Then Randall asked to use the bathroom. He was in there for quite some time. After they left we were unable to find pain pills that were in that bathroom medicine cabinet. By process of elimination Randall was the only one that could have taken it as no one else was in my home that day. I had to make out a police report and talk to Joe who owns the company. Joe said it was not protocol for the employees to use a customer's bathroom. He sent someone out to glue the floor together in the kitchen, however it looks like a puzzle piece. When we called him back about the situation he refused to help further. I have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and am waiting for the police department to investigate the theft of the pain pills. So in short...I paid Stanley Steemer $121 to clean my floor, rip my kitchen flooring, and steal my medication! Terrible company!.....and even worse customer service on Joe's behalf! Do yourself a favor and use Service Master! read more

I was very disappointed in the job they did on my carpets. I had four rooms and a hall cleaned. The man running the machine was in what seemed to be a huge hurry to get done. I was most interested in having a very good cleaning of the traffic areas and they really don't look any different. He looked like he was just swiping once over the carpet. And 90% of water is not taken out. I usually do it myself, but wanted it professionally done so it would be a really nice job, but the cleaning I have done myself in the past has been much better. I would not call them again. Very disappointing job. read more

I am an EX SS Cleaner and driver. They reward abusive high pressure sales tactics, encourage ridiculously fast in and out services and condone hazardous driving practices. The number of jobs a day and the additional charges added to the attractive sucker price are paramount. They want only aggressive salesmen well versed in the old bait and switch. The conscientious cleaners or safe drivers don't last 3 months, I saw three fired and 3 quit (including myself) in 2 months. My first week in training we were at the home of an elderly gent in an upscale subdivision. The well regarded cleaner who was training me relentlessly beat the old man up like a carny for added deodorizing services until he finally caved. I was sent to the van to fill the spray applicator and apply it. I grabbed the clearly labeled half full 5 gal jug, carefully followed the directions to the letter, filled the sprayer and began to apply. Later that day I was astonished to see my instructor pull over and pee in the jug, the same jug labeled deodorizer that I used on the job. Yeah, turns out to avoid reporting unproductive bathroom stops via radio he, as most of the preferred employees, carried a pee jug in the van. And because of this strange practice I had just sprayed pee all over that old man's carpet. Why on earth wouldn't he have warned me about this pee jug labeled "deodorizer" when he sent me out to mix the stuff? When I told him what happened he just laughed without a care. My heart sank for that old man. In my short stint with them I have quite literally at least twenty more Steemer stories just as bad. I would never... ever... use them based on my experiences. read more
