In spite of the intensity and damage with which the recent storm that struck RI & environs suffered, Stanley Tree Service was extremely prompt in meeting our tree service needs which included removing a large tree that had penetrated the roof of our garage. His crew did an excellent job and cleaned up so well nobody would ever knew they were there other than the missing tree! Not good. Go elsewhere. Among other things they promised to remove a vine on the front of our house and a butterfly bush on the side. They killed the vine, but left the top part, leafless and grey on the upper part of the house. It looks worse than it did before. They trimmed the butterfly bush to the ground, and it grew back. I called them and sent them a letter with pictures and they've be unresponsive. read more

I was nervous after reading the reviews on Yelp, but I had a crew come today to trim a tall tree in my yard, and they were great. Courteous, friendly, and they cleaned up well. I'm not an expert on tree trimming, but the tree looks good. read more

Over the years, Stanley has handled two big projects with my trees. The first one caused some property damage; but, Stanley remedied it all fairly and squarely. Most recent job was a major one - wonderful work, no property damage. Oh, and what pleasant people - from the most-knowledgeable arborist, to ladies on phone, to work crews. read more

Homeowners beware! Watch out for Stanley's Tree Service! They came to our house to remove a fallen tree. Their method of removal ended up different than what they originally stated (without discussing these changes with us) and they forced a large tree through a small entrance way between our front and back yard, damaging our vinyl siding on the corner of our house and along the side of our house. The tree produced some sort of seed, which left stains all along our driveway. When my husband and I contacted the owner "Stan" regarding the matter, he was denfensive, nasty, and corrupt. He admittedly came back onto our property while we were not home to try and cover up/remove some of the evidence prior to our taking photos. He refused to work with us on fixing the damage clearly caused by his company. Unless you want more problems than a fallen tree, I would NOT suggest working with Stanley's Tree Service!! read more

My husband and I were looking to have 2 trees removed from our property. We contacted Stanley Tree Service 3 times EACH to have them come out and give us a quote. Each time they told us they would be at the house the next day - they never showed up. I can't rate their tree removal service because we used a different vendor (who we were thrilled with!) but if their removal service is anything like their customer service, BEWARE! read more

They are clearing power lines in my town, while working in front of my house the crew dropped all kinds of branches and wood on my lawn and dented and tore it up, when I started to ask the guys working what they were going to do to fix it not one of them spoke a word of english, so I got no where with it except that my lawn is all messed up and none of them could have cared less, the whole street looks terrible. When I talked to my neighbor a few houses down about it, he said he had no problem speaking to the men doing the work, I said none of them spoke english when I asked about the damage, he said they had no problem speaking when he was offering them cash to cut another tree in his yard while they were there, and that tree had nothing to do with the power lines. read more

It seems to be a trend. Called for an estimate, they took all my information and told me someone would call me right back to schedule an appointment. Two weeks later and no call, they don't seem to want the business I guess. If you need a tree removed pass on Stanley tree. read more

I had Stanley Tree Service perform multiple jobs in early September of 2017. They trimmed a Red Maple, installed a cable in a Hickory, removed multiple Spruce trees and a couple Pine trees, and grinded the stumps on all of the removed trees. I can't say enough good about this company. They were great, from beginning to end. They did exactly what was discussed, and the crew performing the work were true professionals. We had three huge oaks from the same base and unfortunately, they were beginning to rot and it was recommended we take them down. Our yard had very limited access and so they came out a few times to figure out how to engineer it. In the end, they had to squeeze a crane and bucket truck into my neighbor's yard. We were very concerned about damage to the neighbor's yard but they assured us it would be left as they found it. They lived up to their promises. They were friendly, considerate, and went out of their way to keep the area neat and undamaged, putting down mats for the truck tires and raking up after. It was quite impressive to see the crane in action, and they had it down to a science. The final price was the same as the estimate. I would definitely recommend them. read more

Excellent service! We had a large oak that needed to be taken down in our backyard. We wanted someone to climb it instead of using and driving a bucket truck over our newly established lawn. I contacted a few tree companies and Stanley Tree Service was the cheapest. The men who did the job and the man who provided the estimate were courteous and professional. I appreciated the extra care they took to clean up after themselves. I will be calling this company in the future should we have any tree service needs. read more

Had a bad experience with them failing to do what they said they would, billing me for what they said they would do (but didn't) and not responding to repeated attempts to contact them and get them to either 1) do what they said they'd do, or 2) reduce or eliminate the bill. I see many others on Yelp have also had bad experiences, and I wish I had checked Yelp instead of looking on Angie's List for landscape help. People complaining because they tried and failed to get Stanley Tree to give an estimate should thank their lucky stars! read more

A great job done by a very talented crew, I tend to wonder about the other reviews I read about Stanley Tree on here, I can not imagine them or any of their people not doing as they would say. From my first call to them right until the job was finished I was very satisfied. As for the comments about dishonest or hacks, it couldn't be further from the truth. Stanley Tree Service in October, 2016 removed for us a towering red maple that was two-and-a-half or three feet in diameter at its base. The tree stood in a narrow space between our house and our neighbor's, and branched out over both roofs. The trunk had a large rotted section near its base that made removal hazardous. Taking it out required step by step pruning from the top down by a guy in a cherry picker that they positioned first on one side of our house, then the other, taking special care to avoid utility lines. They put sheets of plywood down to protect the grass. They hauled out and mulched a lot of wood, and sliced up and left for us several solid branches for firewood. They thoroughly raked and swept up without blasting us with a screaming leaf blower. They had what seemed to be a contractor come in at the end to grind the remaining stump and roots to a depth of about two feet. They started on time and did the job in a day. Their price was less than what a few big name arborists quoted for us. And they were well behaved around the many children who gathered to watch them work and pepper them with questions. read more
