Could never recommend this vet practice. Our experience was horrible. Billing was outrageous, in my opinion.

Highly recommend!! I moved to the area and had not yet found a vet. My dog got an infection under his ear and it was full of puss. The vet we had been going to is 4.5 hours away. I called around and another local vet told me I couldn't get in till 5 days later, I knew my dog couldn't last that long but they were not wiling to help me. I called Stanley Veterinary Clinic and they were so kind!! Even though they were booked for the day they spoke to the vet and said I could do a drop off and they would look at my dog between appointments. I was so thankful!! Turns about he had a double ear infection and he had scratched his ear so hard he had created a hot spot. He would have been miserable if I had waited 5 day. So thankful Stanley Veterinary Clinic was kind and willing to help my dog. I will for sure be back! read more

Do not recommend. Just picked up dogs (3) from grooming- love our groomer- and it took what felt like 30 minutes to get the dogs because they gave one of them an exam - an exam that was not discussed and thus, not authorized. We left Stanley a couple of years ago for vet service after going to them forever, due to the treatment we received regarding our elderly dog - who thankfully is still with us more than a year later despite being told otherwise- and medications being changed without our knowledge - among other things. However, we continued to take them to Heather to be groomed almost monthly because love her and she has groomed and taken such good care of our eldest dog for numerous years. Today was the icing on the cake. Not only do they make you get vacinnations that our new vet does not even require for a grooming, but for some unknown reason, decided they needed to do an exam of one of our dogs, too and tried to charge us for it and only finally agreed to take it off this "one time" after advsing them we were not paying for this exam and after multiple discussions back and forth. I rarely do reviews, but felt compelled to advise others. We will start going elsewhere for grooming but will miss Heather. read more

Wouldn't recommend. The staff is friendly enough but i definitely got ripped off. My dog went in to have her ear hematoma drained. They didn't tell me until after the fact that they would be sending her home with an open wound. Her ear has been draining blood and puss for about a week now. When i called them about it they prescribed an antibiotic and charged me another $70. If you send a dog home without sowing up an incision.. it's going to get infected. It's like i was set up for failure. I was told that i could change her plastic cone to a comfortable one. Little did i know that she would be bleeding all over it for a week. When i requested another plastic cone i was of course charged for it. The $550 i paid to get her ear drained should have included the aftercare. Sigh. I'm new to the area so it looks like I'll be looking for a different vet Adding a small tidbit from today's fiasco. I was told that she had to come back in to have her sutures removed. Her sutures fell out, her ear filled BACK UP with fluid, they're now trying to charge me another $120 so i said no I'll take her elsewhere. Apparently i still owe for a re-check exam? Even though literally nothing was done to her. So I'm being charged to have a vet tech walk my dog into a building and bring her back out 20 minutes later? Seriously such a ripoff. I strongly advise against this place. Should have read the reviews first. Ya live and ya learn i guess. read more

Ridiculous pricing. I went here because I couldn't get in with my normal vet and my dog was sick. Pancreatitis. Charged 2.5x for the same exact Idexx labs that my normal vet runs. And my normal vet isn't cheap by a long shot. Wanted $650 for an abdominal ultrasound, a test that runs about $350 at my normal vet. I know because the exact same test has been run in the past when she was diagnosed with gall bladder sludge. And I just called my normal vet's office after leaving Stanley for updated quotes. I'll go further to say for under $300 I could have had the following labs done at my current vet: Idexx comprehensive lab panel, pancreatic lipase, thyroid, heartworm, fecal, urinanalysis, proBNP. My normal vet is Mariposa. Walked out with at $500 bill, medications (about $90), wellness check ($60 and didn't even check her heart rhythm), lab. Would have been under $300 with my normal vet. Obscene. How can they even look at themselves in a mirror charging those prices? Vets like this one is why animals with medical issues get dumped at shelters when people have limited income. Fortunately we don't have that problem. In addition, they couldn't even get the labeling dosage correct on my dog's prescription for prednisone. They gave me oral directions that didn't match the labeling, so they had to change it before I left the office. Won't be back. read more

I take my Bernese here and they have been great with him from grooming to regular appointments and checkups! Staff is always friendly when I call and I love the new mobile app ability to schedule online. When he ate something as a puppy the vet was great and kept me updated and made me feel totally comfortable! I have no complaints! read more

Time to find a new vet. After to moving to Kansas from Seattle I needed to find a new clinic for the girls. My oldest is 15 with severe arthritis and her quality of life is improved while on pain management medication. She has been on a form of quellin for many years as I have found this keeps her moving without the damaging effects of other arthritis medication. To save (a lot) of money from vet pricing for these prescription drugs I order online a few times a year. Unfortunately the online sites require vet approval and verification, which means more $$ at the vet office no matter how much they know your vet needs the medication. After my recent attempt to reorder my drugs I was beyond frustrated and disappointed in how the Stanley clinic choose to handle the situation. Rather than calling me to confirm my prescription request or ask me to come in for a visit they refused to refill the medication order. I will be finding a new vet ASAP that actually cares about the life of my pet and not their bottom line ability to make money. read more

They don't want to get to know your dog or become their friend, they go in and start prodding around instantly. Also, if you have a said "aggressive" dog breed I would recommend you going anywhere else. All they want to do is sedate your dog and up charge you. Unfortunately, this clinic appears to have grown so large that they are focused on numbers of animals brought through the door and fees charged vs. quality care and good communication with the owners of their pet patients. Testing needed to understand an infection my dog had was never offered, even when I questioned them prescribing the same antibiotic to my dog for 6 weeks straight, and I was made to feel stupid for asking questions. An x-ray wasn't offered or suggested either, at the initial exam after my dog's injury - and my questions and concerns about a broken bone were dismissed . . . until nearly 7 weeks later when there wasn't any improvement. With every appointment, our wait to be seen got longer and longer - and the time the vet(s) spent with our dog got shorter, and there were new complications, new issues, and new charges (with little explanation) each time. I reached out to the owner to share my concerns and feedback, and while he listened, I was told that he would talk to the doctors and staff but have heard nothing since then. If you want a clinic that will get to know you and your pet, truly listen to you about your concerns and questions, and spend the time necessary to provide the right level of care, I would suggest looking elsewhere. read more

We wanted to give a special shout out to Heather, the best and kindest groomer on the planet. We have been going to this clinic for over 15 years. We love the staff and we especially love Heather. She has been interacting with our old great pyr mix for awhile now. She takes such good care of her and even helps us get her back in the car. The staff is friendly however the prices are the highest I have ever seen. I took my dog in because she vomited what looked like blood. After running a blood test (SMA2/CBC in house Chem17) and a Pancreatic Snap Lipase Test they told me they do not know whats wrong with her and I should go to Walgreens and buy some omeprazole (generic Prilosec), recommended dosage is somewhere between 22-43mg. That cost me $422.25. Outrageous! Other vets in the area cost range for the same service was between $75-$200. The only good thing I can say is they are right down the street from me and were able to get me in right away. With those prices I am not surprised. They will never see me or my dog again and I do not recommend going there unless you have money to burn. read more

I have two miniature dachshunds, both long-hair, one prone to seizures. This is the fourth vet we've been to since Badger (a.k.a. The Badge, Badgey McBadgerton) started having seizures roughly three years ago and the first vet we've been to that has been able to work with us to get his seizures under control. I believe there are four vets here, and we've seen both Dr. Clausen and Dr. Austin. Badge, who is notoriously skittish and kind of hates people, actually licked Dr. Clausen within minutes of meeting her, and that's saying something. (Unless they use pork-chop flavored handsoap, but that's still saying something.) A routine set of shots here is approximately $100. An office visit runs $35, with additional charges for medications given, if necessary. They also offer on-site grooming, and will make your dog look and smell like a pretty, pretty princess (regardless of gender) for approximately $35. Prices and pork-chop handsoap notwithstanding, I really feel like these vets care about my mutts - last time I took Badger in for a seizure, they kept him for all-day observation, and when I went in to pick him up, the vet carried him out personally, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket emblazoned with cupcakes. I got the distinct impression he'd gotten more than a few snuggles that day, and it just makes me feel good knowing the vet cares about my dogs as much as I do. read more

I've found the prices to be affordable and they allowed us to bring Mac in as a 'walk-in' in order to get a heartworm test so he could get on heartworm preventative. One thing I really love about this clinic is the online account Pet Portal. You sign up for free, and a in a few days, your profile is linked to your pet's records, allowing you to see when they need shots, when they were in last, etc. It's great. read more

I love The Stanley Veterinary Clinic, and have been going there forever! I absolutely love Dr. Huggins, Dr. Pelfrey and Dr. Clausen. Those are the Dr.'s I'm familiar with, and I'm sure the others are just as good! I just started using them for grooming, my 2 English Springer Spaniels. Had to bring our dog back after we just spent 800 dollars on his neuter and Gastropexy. We're his stitches were was inflamed and red called them they said to bring him in and we did. Then when we came to get him they treat you like a criminal where they come out to get your money first then they bring you your dog. But when they came out they gave him meds which I understand having to pay for but I get charged an office visit because he didn't see the doctor that did his surgery bunch of bullshit. read more

Small, over crowded and busy waiting area. Take a long time to get you into a room, and sometimes just do walk in type things in the (already busy) waiting room. If you have more than one dog you're trying to wrangle or have dogs that get excited by commotion and people/dogs to play with, this is not the right place for you. Also, pretty pricey compared to other vets in the area. Also wouldn't recommend if you prefer to see the same doctor every visit, as this just isn't a thing at this clinic. read more

My dog has Addison's disease which means he requires more care than most dogs. Stanley has always been so great about making the management of this disease as painless as possible, whether it be squeezing him in quickly to get his shot or finding ways to reduce cost on his care. I suggest you stay away. It's been my experience they don't treat you as a customer they value nor one they want to have return. I have been a customer for years and I can't tell you how ashamed I am of this practice. They give no respect or credit to their employees who have been dedicated for years to them and their clients. I get this awful phone message that is so fake from Kelly saying that Stephanie has retired and can no longer perform services for my dog and they cannot accommodate my services for my pet and I need to go elsewhere. Stephanie did not retire. She would have reached out in her own way with her own words. This practice is full of heartless doctors and faculty members. I suggest you all go elsewhere. I would advise using a different vet. Our dog was diagnosed with something he didn't suffer from. So the medication they prescribed actually shorten his life. After taking our dog to a different vet we discovered Stanley had been wrong about our dog for the past five years. So besides wasting a lot of money we were injecting our dog with medication that he didn't need. I think they have more of a passion in turning your pet into a cash cow for them rather than caring or helping your pet. read more

I just picked up my cat from a botched and unnecessary abdominal surgery. During her surgery, the vet found NOTHING, her blood work came back perfect and the "side surgery" that he did to try to remove (although he wan't successful) the polyp in her ear caused her right eye not to be able to blink. By the way... I only found this out as I was picking her up! This place is a total CHOP SHOP! If you love you pet, do youself a favor and PLEASE take them somewhere other than this place! read more

If we are honest, when we visit a physician we have unrealistic expectations. We expect our ailment to be diagnosed and healed quickly, as though we were a new car returning to the dealership (oops, bad example). We also expect compassion, an education, and that the patient and family are both "treated". When one of our four-legged family members is ill, we have the same high expectations. Yet a vet has additional challenges. He/she needs knowledge of many species, and cannot rely on much input in the way of verbal communications from the patient. Dr. Claussen and the staff of the Stanley Veterinary Clinic have been taking extraordinary care of our cats for over fifteen years. You only need to watch Dr. Claussen's eyes and hands to witness her expertise in handling our "kids". Her eye contact and touch have instant calming connection, even with a feral cat. Her calm approach with family, her methodical approach to medicine, and her accessibility is exceptional. She has been there to celebrate the good times, and to get us through the tough times. She has handled a wide variety of situations and crises with us and our kids, and while she has handled 90% of them herself, she is not shy about involving another specialist. That is one of the true traits of a good practitioner. Once you and your pet experience her care you will realize that she has surpassed the standards of a practice; she combines an excellent knowledge of science with the art of compassion. She gets the fact that we have anthropomorphic children, and she not only understands we have unrealistic expectations, she also strives to meet them while educating us along the way. I speak as a pet parent and the former CEO of nationally known pet food company who has experienced interaction with many vets, and I highly recommend her and the other staff at the Stanley Veterinary Hospital. Took my dog in there several times about him not eating or vomiting shortly after he did eat. Was told that it was nothing, he was eating to fast, so on. On the last visit they finally did a x-ray and there was a mass in his stomach. They sent me to another local vet partner to get a cat-scan. They were supposed to call me back after they got the results. Hours go by and no call. I keep calling to try and find out what was found and keep being told that the vet will call me soon. On my last call to them (Almost 7p.m. the cat-scan was performed at 11a.m.) I get demand to speak to the vet. After waiting nearly 5 minutes on hold he gets on the phone and wont really explain anything to me except they want to do exploratory surgery. After all this hassle and worry I call a friend that is in the rescue groups and explain to her what went on. Long short the vet/surgeon from the rescue group calls me that night on his way home from dinner, arranges to see my dog the next day. Sadly it was all to late, we lost him to the cancer that had closed his esophageal passage off. Do not trust this place! If they had been more serious about diagnosing my dog he might still be with us today. read more
