To start, I want to be clear that the physicians or nurse practitioners in this practice are wonderful. The office management is abysmal. Long waits on the phone (longer than 10 minutes) with no "live" voice to acknowledge calls and the office staff's overall poor communications skills are unacceptable. I have left messages for my provider only to have them distorted. I have had to make trips across town because they couldn't answer a couple simple questions. When my appointment had to be rescheduled, the person making appointments completely forgot to return my call with the new appointment date and time. As others who have made comments here, the lack of organization and the office staff's unprofessional conduct are unacceptable. I am well-aware that like many other primary care practices, this practice is very busy. A bit of common courtesy, however, goes a long way to show that someone cares and make their clientele feel valued. I imagine that it's this sort of lack of organization that makes some people seek medical care. My health care needs are minimal, but I've been on hold for nearly 20 minutes. The provider staff (doctors and nurses) was great the times that I went but the front desk is honestly abysmal. This absolutely is enough to make me not want to go back to this practice because the front desk is in charge of my health records which they refuse to print out for me. Not only did they refuse me timely access to my records, they were incredibly rude when I asked. In addition to lack of access to my records, I've been put on hold every time that I've called. They don't have the infrastructure to handle online payments which means that (as someone who doesn't mail things and doesn't have stamps or envelopes on hand) even just paying them is a hassle. read more

A factory. Seriously. The office staff is rude and surly and while my doctor was nice, she was almost always late. I have only been in twice and I seriously waited in the waiting room nude except for a paper robe covering me for almost an hour. I figured they forgot about me. My doctor herself was always very kind and made me feel comfortable there but dealing with the in-competencies of the support staff and billing dept. (I think I was charged for one physical I didn't receive). have made me want to seek out a smaller clinic. read more

I've had nothing but positive interactions with Susan Gipson. While Dr Rabin is technically my PCP, I've only seen Susan and each interaction has been great. Scheduling for routine appointments is tight, I will admit. You will be on hold for a while. However, they really came through for me today for an urgent issue. I called at 8:45 am, saw them same day at 10 am, had a chest X-ray and was home by 11:30 am. (Helps that St. Elizabeth's is right across the street of course). Being able to see them same day really won me over, and I'll definitely be keeping my healthcare here for the foreseeable future. read more

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID! I was a patient of DR Rabin's from 2006-2017. I really LOVED her, and felt like she was a good doctor, and she even helped me get through a very difficult time with my gallbladder. However, things have changed at this practice. I don't know if they have too many patients, but it takes days or weeks to see my doctor if I'm SICK (Oh, you have pneumonia, can you come in next week?), and sometimes the doctor (when I do get to see my doctor) will send me home with "rest and liquids" and then I have to try to reschedule a week later when I am even sicker, to get meds or X-rays or more complete care. I have never had trouble seeing the Nurse Practitioners there (who've done a good job), but I did recently get stuck seeing one of their new doctors, who was VERY dated in his medical approach, and who gave me bad advice which led to me getting a severe lung infection, which has since morphed into a heart issue because I was sick. But, it gets worse. In January 2017, I became sick with symptoms I didn't ever have before. After three visits to doctor Rabin, with her guessing at what I might have, I ended up with a CT Scan, which showed only exhausted lymph nodes, which then turned into a visit with a GI Doctor (took 5 weeks to schedule while I was deathly sick), then a colonoscopy, they found I had been suffering from CDif for over 4 months, that got treated, cleared up, but I still had the original sickness issues, 10 months later I was still sick, a friend recommended I see a Pain Clinic, who found a muscular skeletal issue that required a medical procedure. In-between, Dr Rabin is not contacting me, checking on me (she saw me in August for a Physical, I told her I was still terribly sick, and that was that), not getting back to me about blood test results, not ordering other tests. In September I got sick with a bad cold, couldn't get an appointment to see her for a week, had to go to a walk-in clinic, I had severe bronchitis. I called her office, I got that new doctor, he told me to not take the antibiotics for the bronchitis because of CDif: three weeks later I was in the ER for a cardiac event, and a lung infection. I was unable to see my PCP after a cardiac event for anytime in the future, so I did the brave thing and switched my PCP to try and get urgent care (at this stage I have my original illness that got worse, had to cancel my medical procedure, I'm having arrhythmia, I need a stress test in 72 hours--which I can't get--, and I need someone to read my XRays at the hospital, and I can't see my doctor despite being sicker than I've ever been in my entire life) and more proactive and considerate care. I've now spent a month trying to get my records sent from Dr Rabin's office. The post office confirms that they have received my request twice, but her office says my requests were never sent. My new doctor can't see all the work done, and re-check my results from the last 11 months, especially my ER and hospital visits, and when I call the office, I get rude, angry, confrontational staffers, and people lacking in basic human compassion and decency. Meanwhile, I'm home, with heart issues, sicker than I've ever been, and my doctor and hospital are desperate to get my records. OH! Did I mention they charge you $50 each time you want a copy of your records sent somewhere? It will cost me at least $100 just to see my new doctor and cardiologist to look at my records. OH, it gets worse! They do all their blood work at Quest Medical, right next door, which seems to be a training facility for new nurses. In the last year I've twice had a vein collapsed for simple blood draws there. Each time I get blood drawn I return with multiple pokes, lots of bruises, and lots of pain. My new doctor? One poke, no pain, professional nurse. I forgot how easy it was to get blood work done! Dr Rabin's a good doctor, I think she's a good person, and I was very sad that my health got so desperate that I needed to take desperate measures in order to get better, but I'm convinced she has too many patients, the office does as a whole, she's surrounded by staffers who hate their lives or their jobs, and everyone there seems to have lost their way, the reason to be in the medical field: to help heal and take care of PEOPLE. If you want to get mutilated to get blood work done, you want doctor's who don't have the time to see you, or who have no deep interest in your physical health, you want to deal with a hostile and incompetent support staff, and want to work with doctors who are associated with a hospital (St Elizabeths) which is neither ranked in the top 20 hospitals in Boston, nor even nationally (the place is a horror show!) you should go here to Stanton Medical. If you want to get more direct and personal and compassionate care, go elsewhere, and make sure to choose a doctor who works with a good hospital and support staff. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Janice Powell (my PCP) here since 2003. She is awesome, very nice and knowledgable. I also loved one of the NPs, Janice Gould, but she recently left. Boo. However, for the last couple of years, when I have had an appointment I have not seen Dr. Powell. There are a couple of new MDs that lack what I am looking for in a PCP, and since I can never see Dr. Powell anymore, I will soon be changing to another PCP. read more

I have been with this practice a long time, first with Dr. Hitron, now with Dr. Rabin. I have no beef with the clinicians. They are knowledgeable and good at what they do. But I just don't think I can deal with the difficulties of getting through to this practice anymore. I was released from the hospital the other day. I was calling my PCP to confirm an appointment and I spent 25 minutes on hold before I gave up. It shouldn't be this difficult. If anyone knows of a practice where they treat you respectfully and answer the phone, I'd love to know. read more

I've been coming here for years and have always had good experiences. Never had to wait more than 10-15 minutes. My previous pcp was Dr. Bonnano. Several years ago he retired and I now have Dr. Rabin. I have always had a phobia concerning doctors but she makes me feel much more at ease. Nurse practitioners are also very good. No problem with front office staff either. I never had to wait long on phone like some others here have said. They've squeezed me in if needed on same day I've called. I would recommend Stanton, especially Dr. Rabin. read more

Dr. Powell has been my PCP for many years, I'm here because she is on her game when at 40 I had chest pain that required a double bypass. She is also PCP for many of my family members and knows the family history, she cares about her patients and isn't afraid to put it out there when your not doing the right thing, she calls to check up on you and does rounds first thing in the morning at St. Elizabeths. She tells her patients how it is, and I never feel like shes rushing me out of the office. Dr. Powell is a real family Doctor, quite rare nowadays. read more

The staff at the front desk is beyond rude and infuriating. The attitude is more like that on a street corner than what is appropriate for an office envirnoment. Despite excellent care by the physicians I will be changing to a different practice after repeated incidents with a snotty, rude desk employee filled with "attitude" As it doesn't seem medical staff are hired for their customer service abilities I am usually not that suprised to be signed in by someone who is rude, snotty and acts like she is doing you a favor. However after waiting on hold today for more than15 minutes with an ineffient phone system when I told her I was waiting so long she stated "I highly doubt that but whatever...." and put me on hold again. After that kind of treatment I will be moving my records to a new office. That is unacceptable treatment of patients, clients, etc... Often people have to take time out of their day, away from their desk to call the doctor and should not be treated like that. This is after being turned away a few years ago for an appointment for not having my insurance card physically on me. Despite having consistent insurance coverage and records at that office for years. They refused to call the insurance company or look it up for me. Told me I had to order a new card and come back when i got it in the mail?? I had to reshedule an appointment I had waited a momth to get and took a morning off of work to attend. NEVER Again will I walk into that office. People like that would be fired in any other profession. Not sure why she is answering the phones here - STILL. I have had enough. I would strongly NOT recommend this medical office. read more

Like the others, Dr. Powell is great but rarely available. The good NPs have left and the office staff is pretty rude and slow. Seems like a poorly run office which is maybe why they have such turnover. Bummer, b/c Dr. Powell is really nice. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Hitron who has since left - I am now a patient of Dr. Rabins. Like the commenter before me I never get to see her. I rarely get to see a dr. it is always the nurse practioiner. They are always nice but I WANT TO SEE MY DR. I too am seraching fro a PCP who has the time to see their patients. Who are the Drs. at Stanton seeing if not patients????? read more

I also love Dr. Janice Powell but last year I had to book 10 months ahead to see her. In the meantime I saw Dr. Corrado when I was ill, she was very nice, but Dr Powell is my doctor. And the support staff are horrible, surly, never have a smile, never look at you. Really awful. The nurse practitioners are also very pleasant. A poorly managed practice. read more

great office. I've been a patient for 10 years and have seen both the nurse practitioners (NP), and MD's. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave the service is first class. plus with NP's s on staff you don't need to wait for a "sick" visit where an MD is optional. I've never had to wait to be seen when sick- always caught a same day appointment. Today at my physical with the MD I was told I had wax in an ear. Not to worry, one of the medical assistants took me into another room after the physical and removed it! one stop shopping and excellent care. highly recommend. read more

As other patients, I find that this medical group is not well run. It takes 10 minutes to get someone on the phone. The staff is not welcoming and is slow. It's hard to get an appointment with your doctor. Or they propose you to see the first available person, including NPs, but it's not the same as seeing one's PCP, who is supposed to know you. I've been a patient at this practice for a little over a year. I really loved my previous doctor (but had to switch due to insurance) and this is a poor replacement. It is a huge hassle to even call this place, let alone get an appointment or god forbid you need a prescription. I once waited two and a half hours past my scheduled appointment. Getting a prescription here is the absolute worst. Even if you are physically at the office the chances of them sending the RX over to your pharmacy are pretty low. Always get a paper copy. Forget it if you have mail order, once they sent over the wrong medication, wrong dosage and to the wrong pharmacy. I don't know how that happens! Good luck getting any kind of response within 24 hours. My doctor is okay, she's referred me for expensive procedures that were unnecessary, painful, aren't even indicated for my age group which I don't appreciate. I'd prefer a doctor who has knowledge of current research and standards. I've actually seen a couple doctors here and my overall feeling is that they are dismissive of the patients viewpoint. I also heard one of the male doctors loudly complaining about having patients scheduled over his lunch hour (which I agree is annoying) however it is extremely unprofessional to be saying "oh this is just great, thanks a lot what do we have this time, fucking great" in earshot of patients. My plan is to change doctors. read more
