Call me crazy but when I go in for an exam, I expect an actual Dr to be physically present. This was such a joke, I'm still thinking I was in an episode of The Twilight Zone. You get an "exam" if you want to call it that by some individual via TV. They aren't even optometrists. The audio kept cutting out and all they ask "is 1 better, or 2" while they flip lenses from wherever they are. Then they send you out to look for glasses. I was told my eyes had gotten much worse in the last year. They gave me the new prescription to try on. It seemed no different then my old one. Then they wanted to sell me 3 pairs. As an Ophthalmologist told me, this place is in the business of selling glasses. If you want a decent exam with the right prescription, I suggest going somewhere else, where its much more personable and done right. Maybe go here just to get the glasses if you must but honestly, they're prices weren't great either. read more

First off I want to say the customer service when I was in the store was great. Everyone was extremely nice and helpful throughout my visit but that was the extent if that. Unfortunately, when I woke up the next day after my visit I had eye infections (pink eye!) in both of my eyes. I had never had it before in my life and was pretty upset so I called the location I went to on Capitol and 124th to tell them about it. I was as nice as I could be about it, letting them know I woke up with this issue the day after I was there but the woman I was talking to immediately got defensive with me saying there is no way I could have gotten it there because they clean everything with alcohol. I'm sure they do, but I was there for about 3 hours and didn't see one person throughout that time clean any of the lenses people try on and I know while I was there I tried on quite a few and also saw others trying them on. I was extremely taken aback by her reaction and explained I have never had it before and it is kind of suspect that I wake up with eye infections the day after I was at an optical center and she went quite. I obviously went to the doctor for this issue and explained what happened to her and she too is certain I contracted these infections from trying their glasses on. All i'm saying is be careful when trying their glasses on/go some where else and Stanton, please teach your employees about holding themselves accountable and trying to work with customers when issues like this arise because this was just insanely unacceptable. I now have to pay a large doctor bill after just having to buy expensive glasses and am a broke college student who just got laid off so this really has been a blow. Do better Stanton!! read more

Working with Stanton in Brookfield Wi is a mixed bag. I didn't make an online appointment because the required "title" listed only Miss or Mrs. choices for women. I have used Ms. for the past 50 years since my marital status is not significant to the business at hand. The young lady who took my information was polite but was in this current "thing" of addressing older people by their first name. Many of us don't like this. Furthermore, nowhere on the site does it indicate that the exam is done at distance. You work with the examiner with the equivalent of Skype. However--and this made my day---a young man named Nick found the perfect set of frames for me. His personable-ness and his willingness to find just the right thing erased many of the other anxiety-causing encounters. Nick gets my vote. EXPECT NOTHING, and you might just get it. As other have stated, I will reiterate, ***there is NO DOCTOR at this location.*** You will not get an actual eye exam! Secondly, there is no "Deal." Expect to spend $700+ for whatever it is you are getting (and that is _with_ insurance). Final nail in the coffin: They told me my contacts and glasses would be ready in two weeks. Came as a first time customer and was very disappointed after being in the store for an hour. False advertisement of buying 2 for $59 when there were only two frames that cost that much throughout the whole store. Then after speaking with the manager of the store who was very rude, he refused to give me my prescription. I was literally forced to buy my glasses from them. Smh! Manager also got loud and walked away rudely after trying to work out a plan with me. He told me not to tell other friends of mine or anyone else about my experience. That was the worst experience I have ever had. After an hour and 45 minutes I have no glasses and had to pay for the exam. I went in for the buy one get one free and some how was being charged $720 with no explanation, no manager came over to help the situation and at the end they were trying to say the manager will sign off on whatever I can afford? But then dropped the price to $440. That was the shadiest oddest experience. I'll stick to a regular dr office where you work with one in person not on a screen and actually pay for what is advertised. read more

I just want to let everyone I know that wears glasses to tay as far away as possible from Stanton Optical!!!!! As you know I am currently on vacation and during my time here, I needed my prescription for a new pair of glasses. They have been nothing but horrible. They refuse to get me my prescription and have been nothing but problems, issues and attitude for two days. I went to the location on 124th and Capitol. So I called there asking for it and they wouldn't but told me I could get it if I went into a location down here. So I did. . .the lady told me that she couldn't access my prescription bc of the format it was in but that they can email it to me with a release form. So i fill out the form and have her scan it into my file and left (she said shed call them). She calle die telling me they gave her shit about it but eventually sent it. When she opened it there was no DR signature on it, so it may not be valid. When she called them back about this they told her the dr that did my eye exam no longer worked there so basically i wa shit out of luck. So i told whatever, just email it to me. She said she did. When i got back to the room i couldn't find this email. So i called her back (but wasn't the store number) so then I called the Milwaukee location back. They took my info and i was told id get a call back in 10 mins bc the person stepped out. Fine. Well i never got that call. so i called today and got the run around all over again just for them to tell me they cant give me it bc the dr didn't sign off on it and because of that its "expired" and i need a new eye exam. . . . .i told her I'm on vacation and don't have time or the money to go in and get a new eye exam, not to mention that my glasses (the scrip) is just fine and I'm not having any issues with it and that i needed the scrip. She handed the phone to some guy who got an instant attitude with me and refused to give me anything and told me to go to the store here. I am so disappointed in the customer service at the Milwaukee location, but it doesn't surprise me. I will never go there again, and I hope that none of you do either. We went to the Stanton Optical on Capitol Dr. in Brookfield for the 2 for $59.99. After reading the fine print on the website, we figured we probably wouldn't be eligible because of the type of lenses that were needed. We ended up with the BOGO offer. Everyone there was super helpful. They took time to explain the different options and were very patient. Chris and his staff worked hard to find us something that fit into our budget and still looked good. There was a small problem with one of the pairs, but when we took the glasses back they made it right without any argument at all. read more

3/19/2021Stanton is the WORST!!!!!  My husband went there to get eye exam and 2 pairs of glasses.  Was told that glasses would be ready by Feb. 14th.  Rec'd a message that his glasses were ready.  Went to pick up and only 1 pair was there.  Apparently they had to send back the other pair but never told us that previously.  Never rec'd a call when the pair finally arrived.  Went there and once again, they had to look all over to find them as they were filed wrong in their alphabetical bins.  Tried on and bifocal were WAY off.  Had to send back once again.  Today went back and was told that the black frames he ordered broke so now they have only brown.  Still bifocal WAY off.  He told them he wants his $ back.  Was told that his 30 day guarantee will be over, WHAT???  Told him that it would take 2 weeks to get any refund.  DO NOT GO HERE!!!!  Pay extra ANYWHERE ELSE.  Also, if you try to call the store, you only get corporate office because nobody answers at the actual store!  Poorest  customer service I have EVERY encountered!!!!  Will be telling everyone I know not to go to Stanton, just awful!!!!!! read more

Bought a pair of single vision glasses for $78. After a couple days of wearing them I determined the stems were too short. Called them and they said sure come on in and we'll fix them. Went to the store and they said new frames would be req'd and your on the hook for 20%. This place is a drivethough scam. No ophthalmologist on site. Do your homework. My Husband and Daughter went to My Eyelab the Morrow Store and Morrow for the 2 for 59 Dollars. When ordering the Sales Rep. asked if they want this or that not lettung them know extra cost and You dont fund out that until You"ve handed them Your card and they've ran Your Authorization thru Your Insurance. My Husband thought about it after stepping out the door to come back in to cancel the order and asked the Authorization to be cancelled They were told they are being made right now so My Husband and Daughter both called Their Banks to cancell payment.I get a call from Ruth asking what was the problem. I told Her the glasses advertisement 2for 59 is basically what they were looking for explaining how the Rep that day wasnt forth coming about extras I was asked would I be willing to pay 181.60 instead of the 386.00 My Daughter and Myself went in to see Ruth on that Wednesday Morning so it was agreed. So upon closing the sale out Ruth said She didn't have a way of charging Me because if She did it would send another order that only would fit My Daughter. So She gave Us both pair saying they were free I said free She said Yes had Me sign saying they had been picked up later to be charged. I called Ruth to ask Her why was I being charged a month later to be told I didnt say they weren't free.Upon going back and forth with the store Tamica came in explaining to the owner .Agreement was made in store By Tamica and HR Rep that I had a 181.60 credit which I declined at first later to agree getting a letter stating that 1 Month Later to have a charge back where the agreement that was made to be a lie. Called to speak with Tamica about the agreement that was made .To be told ut nothing She can do Its up to the HR Dept who told Her they won the charge back .I asked did She explained to them the reason I shouldn't be charged a second 181.60 necause they had recieved payment from My Daughter s Acct. Had I known it was a remote eye exam (from another country) I would have gone elsewhere. There is something to be said about seeing an actual person. It also took 2.5 hours and the employees didn't have a good understanding of their pricing. Don't ask me what my budget is...? The $59.95 frames are from 1982 (1982 called and want their frames back). In my overall experience...It's a fly-by-night operation. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have gone elsewhere. read more

When I first entered the building, I was confused on where to sit (the seats were way in the back). I wasn't greeted and took awhile for someone to acknowledge me. The staff that greeted me was nice and very helpful. The sign in process was simple enough to understand (they gave me a tablet to fill in my info). The woman that was conducting the pre-screening was a little ill-prepared, but it's wasn't a big deal. The real surprise came when I actually got the actual eye exam. I was greeted by a monitor with am optometrist (at least I assumed me was) that was going to do the eye exam REMOTELY. The man doing the test seemed like he was reading from a script, everything seemed a little rehearsed. The while process was done in like 10 mins. I was kinda quick for my taste, and seem rather unorthodox. When I was done I asked if I could just get my prescription so I could leave. They we trying to sale me frames of course, but I had my eyes set on frames elsewhere. Overall, the whole process was typical, but the remote eye exam was not something I favored or that felt was the right direction for an opticial company. read more

I will never go back to Stanton. My first experience there was decent. The "deals" they had ended up not being so much of a deal at all ($310.00 later). I purchased insurance and it was pointless because I lost my glasses and was told they do not offer replacements. I had to buy a whole new pair for full cost. I had a horrid experience with Josh and Adam (Adam is the manager apparently). I called for ONE WEEK STRAIGHT requesting them to send over my contact prescription since I am completely out of contacts and needed more. I was told every single time it would be sent but it never showed up. So, I kept calling back. Well, today is the 7th day and I am JUST NOW being told they can't email externally and I would have to pick my prescription up ( something I never heard of). I asked the woman why it took her manager and staff 7 days after several conversations with them both to just now tell me they could not email it. He (Adam the "manager") didn't even have the decency to get on the phone himself and tell me. The woman stated on her own "oh hey, yeah Adam is here but he said to tell you that he can't email externally" Like, get real! HOW UNPROFESSIONAL! Could have got my contacts by now. Then, I asked for their District Managers info and it was refused. They said they would not share the info. I was completely calm throughout this entire conversation but I really wish I would have gone off. read more

On 7/1/2020 I had an appointment at the Brookfield location. After my exam I went to order my contacts. At that time I was told I owe over 500.00 for 1 years supply out of pocket. I told the lady who was working with me that can be correct because my insurance covers my contacts she then told me that Stanton was out of network for my insurance. Before coming to the appointment I called and asked if they could verify that they were in network and I was told I had to wait until my exam. I waited 55 minutes before being seen by the doctor. At that time they should have verified my insurance coverage. They waited until service was render then ask for my insurance card and identification. Which is unacceptable. What if my identity was stolen? Not only that I had to use my contacts benefits to cover the eye exam and was told I still needed to pay 75.00 out of pocket. What if I didn't have the 75.00 what would've happened to me. If they would have took the time and verified my insurance before rendering service I would not have did the exam there. I left the store with no contacts and they used my contacts benefits for the eye exam and contacts fitting fee and I had to pay 75.00 out of pocket cost. As a consumer why would I willingly pay for a service I could have gotten for free? The manager was no help what so ever. No one did anything to help. If you enjoy your valuable time, hard earned money and don't like being lied to, don't waist your time with this place! Went to the Brookfield location on 2/9/19 and purchased 3 pair of glasses for myself and wife. Her pair was ready as told the next day, however, I was told mine would be back from their lab for pick up on 2/22/19...not so much. I called on 2/20 just to check status of delivery and was told to call back the next afternoon because the frames were still in "mounting" status. When I called the next day, I was informed that the frame for my sunglasses broke and I should come into the store to pick another but that my regular frame/lenses would arrive in 2 business days. While at the store, I was told that they actually sent the lab the last to frames that were in stock to replace the sunglasses but both of those broke as well, so I selected a new frame. Fast forward to 5 days later and no call from the store, I called to find out that I still do not have my regular glasses in yet but my sunglasses are ready. Wait, how can my sunglasses be ready when you told me that the frame was broke??? "Oh, I'm sorry, we misspoke". I'll take a refund, please!" But we can give you a temporary pair of glasses until yours arrives". Ummm...No Thank You!! How can you make me a temporary pair but not make me the pair that I actually paid for???
