HORRIBLE experience at this location. I had to sit on this review for a week to fully digest my experience here. After a referral from a friend who raved on about Stanton, I was eager to finally get a new prescription and get some new glasses for my bf and I. Upon entry, we stood in the front for about 5 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. Mind you, the store wasn't even busy. I let it slide. I'm a pretty understanding person when it comes to those things. The lady who assisted with our eye exam was super kind and sweet. She was extremely helpful. Honestly wish she was the one who helped us with our fitting and whatnot, because the lady who helped us with our eye glass choice was NOT nice whatsoever and she's the reason why I'm writing this review. Not only did she barely help us, we explained that we had a budget, yet she kept disregarding it. My BF kept asking questions about pricing because he didn't understand how BOGO = almost $500 for two pairs! And she had the AUDACITY TO SAY "oh.... my.... god...." audibly under her mask. I was so shocked. We're not complicated people but we wanted to know if there were any affordable options, yet she kept looking down on us like we're cheap peasants. I'm sorry mam, but we're in the middle of a pandemic and not everyone can afford half a rack for glasses. Plus, she made us both feel rushed to make our choices. I felt so pressured to choose, I ended up making choices with glasses I barely even liked... I haven't gotten my glasses yet but I'm not even certain that I want to keep them anymore with the experience I had with this place... I hate writing reviews like this in a pandemic, especially since jobs are hard to come by these days, but when you're spending that much money on eyeglasses, this is not the kind of experience I would expect from a place that others speak so highly of. A very unhappy customer. Sold me a 2015 discontinued frame last yr. It fell apart at the stem. It was not damaged or broken. The weld that holds the screw part fell out of the stem. Had a challenge replacing the frame because it was discontinued to begin with and my lense wouldn't fit their current stock. Found another discontinued frame in the back that worked ok but had to buy it. No warranty. Ebay offered the exact lense for much less. I'm not happy realizing they sell discontinued frames and give you a bit of of a discount so you think your getting a great deal. Corporate office only offered to document my complaint. They didn't seem to care. Was a customer for years but won't continue to use them after this experience. read more

I've been purchasing my glasses from a small local optometry business near my former home. They give personalized attention to the customer and are rated 4.5 stars on Yelp. After my eye exam I perused the eye glass frames in their showroom. I didn't find anything I wanted and I could have waited for a new shipment in three weeks but was anxious to get my new glasses now. I decided to go to this place because it was 5 minutes from my new home even though it had a so so rating. After looking at about 20 different frames I found one that I wanted.. The lady was very helpful and patient with me picking out the frames. After three weeks waiting for my glasses I received a text message to pick them up. I arrived at the store and was directed to the pickup station. After a short wait someone attended to me and sifted through the bins and found my glasses and cleaned them and handed them to me and that's it. The glasses were really loose and slid down my nose and were crooked on on face. It was clear that she really didn't know how to adjust the frames because none of what she was doing worked. I asked if there was anyone else that can help me and she didn't understand or there wasn't anyone else. I looked around the store but there was only one other person with another customer, so she was it. I told the attendant I'll be back. I adjusted them at home myself and they sort of work. Typically from my many years of experience, the attendant will make sure they fit properly by adjusting the nose bridge and stems to assure they they align to the center of the eyes. However the attendant did none of that nor offered it. My take away: They are very helpful with me buying the frames, but fell short after that. Maybe it was their off day. For me, the next time I'll find a business that has a score greater than 4 stars. read more

My fiancée purchased a prescription for eye glasses and exam a year ago for me, but since I do not live nearby, I did not use the prescription until today. Luckily, the store manager, Kristine Osterberg, was working on a Sunday, typically her day off and remembered my fiancée. She quickly helped us and honored our purchase from a year ago. This place is the biggest scam of all I call them for an eye exam for my contact lenses And after my exam they ask me if I just want the exam I said yes And right after they said they didn't have my trial and it would take a month to arrive And just before that I saw them giving contacts trial to 3 people while I was waiting for my turn And I notice how the other people all bought contacts from them I have never been to an eye doctor that didn't have my trial contacts before BTW all their hand sanitizer are empty I asked if they had more Since they had way too many people inside And the lady said they don't have anymore. read more

The whole process was wonderful. Easy, friendly checking, minimal waiting for the doctor. Dr. Shu was fabulous. He spent a good time to explain everything in a very simple understanding way. He took time to explain all the results and options. Big plus Dr. Shu! The optician was great too. Pouneh explained everything after Doctor visited me. She spent extra time explaining new options that might be available along with the pros and cons. Due to the Covid pandemic, she walked with me while carrying a box to collect the frames I touched in order to sanitize them after all. Very helpful and friendly. Another big plus goes to Pouneh. I'll give 'em 2 stars because they did step up and try to make it right. However, I'm wondering if they only did so because they read my original 1 star review. I went in originally on Feb 13. The store was clean and organized. I got my exam, and picked out the frames. The first problem came when she told me that the glasses would take 2 weeks to get back. I'm leaving for overseas on the 3rd of March, so that would be cutting it *VERY* close. I went in with the expectation of not paying the "advertised" price, as my glasses are especially strong. We priced out the cost of 2 frames, ( From the economy section,) and progressive bifocals because I *can't* do the ones with the line. It came out to like $340. Still not bad, because I had a $150 Groupon. Nope!! The $340 was the "promotional price." if I wanted to use the Groupon, I would have to pay full price. I said that's it, I'm done, and walked out. If they would have called me back into the store to pay for the exam, I would have flatly refused. I felt like I was the victim of a bait-and-switch. Today, I got a call from the lady at Stanton that I had dealt with. She apologized for the situation in which I had walked out. She offered to do me either 1 or 2 pair of progressive bifocals for $99. (I forget which...) I politely declined, telling her that by this time, they no longer would be ready by the time i left for overseas. She ended the call telling me that she would honor the offer when I got back. That *was* nice of her, but I will not take them up on it.I'm having eye surgery a couple of weeks after the trip and my prescription will probably change again. I only need an extra pair in case something happens to me on my trip. Also, I don't appreciate the way I was treated in the first place. read more

I have nothing but praise for the two employees working at the Madison Avenue location on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 8. They were short-staffed and undeniably overwhelmed with the volume of appointments that had been scheduled. Still, they each had a positive and friendly attitude, they were sympathetic with clients who had traveled long distances for their appointments and the elderly patients who had to wait well past their appointment times. This was no fault of the employees, as they were both working at a very fast-pace and checking in with each customer frequently as to their approximate wait times. I wish I could remember their names to personally thank them for their excellent customer service (I did before I left). I would also like to say that I thought the doctor who performed the telehealth eye exam was very friendly and professional, and it was a good experience. If you are hesitant about the idea of a telehealth exam, I believe there is a doctor who does in-person appointments but you have to schedule that specifically. This is my second time purchasing glasses from Stanton Optical but my first time having an eye exam. I do not think it will be my last. read more

When you walk in you wait near the entrance to have your temperature check. After that they provide you with a tray to hold your glasses you are trying out and ask you to keep it in the tray to sanitize them when you are done shopping. Kristine helped us at the check out and was thorough on what was available to us such as the buy one get one free frame as well as the upgrade of the platinum blue. The process went through quickly but not too fast that I couldn't follow up. Made an online appointment for a Friday afternoon not knowing what to expect. Was greeted by Mariah, so polite and friendly- did the COVID temp check and then directed me to the check in. Filled out the clipboard with updated info and the Mariah did the first eye exams. After those went into a room where a virtual optometrist did my vision exam. Very smooth. Next step was frame selection. Easy. Then met with Alicia who helped me decide on frames, did the cost break out and then frame measurements. The smoothest eye glasses appointment! In and out in 80 minutes! Highly recommend this place, professional and friendly. Do not like the commercials ( the guy is too rude and loud) but they did a great Job on service! read more

I had a terrible experience here today. Terrible. It is a special time right now and I understand that businesses might be operating in limited capacity so I called their number trying to make an appointment. But the automated voice on the phone says "walk-ins available," so I thought oh I can just walk in. Two hours later since I made the phone call, I went to the store. They are operating with some protective measures such as temperature check and social distancing. I'm all for that, I'm not against science. I waited for about 5 minutes, some front desk girl with long straight black hair finally came over to check my temperature and asked me if I had an appointment. I said no and thought it wouldn't be a big deal since their customer service on the phone says no appointments needed. She asked me to wait again. Finally she called me and told me that I needed an appointment because they didn't want too many customers in the place right now. Not really the response I expected to hear. I further inquired that why I was told the opposite over the phone, she said, and I quote "oh that's not us. That's customer service." To which I followed up with " you guys don't have customer service here?" She responded " No, they are in Nicaragua." I can testify that there is no customer service at that place. None. That front desk girl treated me like I'm some kinda of anti-science freak that doesn't believe in social distancing and gave her a hard time about appointments. And told me that she'd let me look at their glass selection only because "you are all upset right now" but that I have carry a tray so that they know which glasses to sanitize. I think I met the A-hole of the year today. And I admit that I got aggravated during my conversation with her, like any normal human would. Honestly, their glass selection is shit. I looked for less than a minute and just got the hell out of that place. But that human being ruined my day. read more

Do not patronize the Stanton Optical in Fairoaks, CA! The manager Kristine Osterberg sold me expired contacts;that were the wrong prescription in exchange for a $50 Ulta gift card. After being unable to resolve this issue with the store I escalated my concern to corporate. I was promised a call back from. Stanton within 24-48 hours and 2 weeks later have heard nothing. I'm absolutely appalled with the lack of professionalism that Ms. Osterberg and Stanton corporate have in managing customer complaints. I was a bit hesitant at returning after last years experience when my husband and I both took advantage of the Optical specials the July before last and had to face a crowd when crowds, let's just say, are not my specialty. This year I was pleasantly surprised at much lower crowd to face, although the initial greeting was not too welcoming, all ended well and on a highly satisfied note. The last time I had gotten glasses I elected for the 2/$79 deal which is total BS cause none of the frames are flattering so you upgrade & nearly $350 later you have your 2 pairs. As a follow up to earlier review of 3/21/22. I went in for the deal of exam + two pairs of glasses. Well not only was the exam too brief as it was via video with some unkown Dr, from god knows where, but I still haven't received my second pair of glasses. They only delivered one pair when I was notified by email that they were ready for pick up. (DONT ASSUME BOTH PAIRS ARE READY) So much for honoring their agreement with the customer. And they obviously are too busy to care otherwise they would have contacted me. Time for a refund I guess. Please be cautious when using them. read more

Avoid Stanton Optical at all costs!! October-December and still no glasses This is going to be long but reading this could save you from dealing with what I've had to deal with these past 3 months. I used Stanton optical in I think 2017. It was a great experience I went to the galleria blvd location. With this in mind thinking it would be a breeze I scheduled one this year in October at the one in fair oaks. First of all I made an appointment online. In doing that I filled out everything I needed to online. When I came in however I needed to fill everything out again for some reason. Then I had to wait probably 30 min or more to get my eyes checked even though I had an appointment and was not a walk in. When I was getting my eyes checked the machines weren't working. I'm not sure if the person was new but that took a good amount of time too and I was in a tiny closet getting my eyes checked which was a very anxiety inducing experience for me. Then when I thought I was going to see a doctor it was a zoom call! Afterwards, I had to wait a long time for my prescription while I looked for glasses and the ladies working there didn't seem to know what they were doing and were sending me back and forth between desk stations. I got out of there after probably 3 hours. Now fast forward to actually choosing glasses as I didn't that day. I went in to pick out glasses with my husband 2 days later. It didn't take me long at all and I just wanted to check out and yet we waited in line with no body at the desk for 40 min. I was asked for all of my information again and I told them I filled it out a couple days prior and they said they probably threw it away lol. When we finally got helped the girl was helpful and sweet, but when I went back in 2 weeks later to get my glasses the prescription was entirely wrong!! She made me an appointment with an in person doctor which is great but then fast forward to the day of my appointment, I had just pulled into the parking lot when I received a phone call from them, telling me the doctor was overbooked... so I rescheduled an appointment for a different day (the 21st, like two weeks later) at the Sac location. The doctor I saw was the only good part of the entire experience. He was extremely professional and knowledgeable. Anyways, we finished and I got set up with a new prescription. The lady at the desk gave me two options, she said that I could take the prescription over to the one closer to my home or she could send it over for me and let them know I have a new prescription. Which do you think I chose? Send it over! We're just missing one tiny detail though. Despite the fact that I was told that all I had to do is get my eyes rechecked and they would make my new glasses, apparently I need to call them myself to tell them to make the glasses? The lady that said she could send the prescription over did not tell me that I needed to call myself to let them know they need to be remade, nor should I have to. I mean, how hard is it to pick up the phone or send an email and say "hey, here is the prescription, begin making the new glasses"?? Especially when that's what they said they would do!! So, cut to ANOTHER two weeks later when my glasses SHOULD have been done, I find out that they hadn't even begun making them because... no one told them to...‍and I was told it would take two weeks AGAIN! I then just decided to ask for a refund for the glasses we paid for two months ago and give our money to someone that deserves it, and even that was a hassle... My husband and I called customer service Monday and the man that helped us called the Stanton that I've been going to and they DIDN'T ANSWER HIM! So the man gave us a number and said they would call us in 24-48 hours. After 48 hours I called them and they didn't answer I just got send to corporate and he also called and they didn't answer him either. I received a call Saturday I believe (so definitely past the time frame given) and the refund has now been started but man all of this was way more complicated than it needed to be, and I still don't have any glasses... read more

Went for an exam today and there was no doctor present. Onlly a technician was there and only on a computer screen. The prescription they gave me was equivalent to where my eyesight was 5 or six years ago. The person at the register said to make an appt. with their doctor who will be in next week. Associate made us pay under someone else's account. So they gave my glasses away. When I call in, the customer service can't patch me through to the store. They tell me to call back later. When I speak with the associate, all they can do is put the order in and I can wait for two MORE weeks. This place is a joke. read more

Make sure to do your homework and be prepared prior to going in. They will definitely try and over charge you and omit all ongoing sales or ways to get you the best price possible. They also do not provide cleaning solutions or materials to clean your glasses which was very odd to me since it's inexpensive and typically provided with all optical purchases. There are other locations doing 2 for $60 sales and I recommend looking into those prior to getting your glasses here. read more

My friend was in desperate need of glasses so we decided to try this place out. We made an online appointment and came in on a Saturday morning. They had advertised that you could get two glasses for some really low price of $79 but I already knew that those would be the ugliest frames ever, and I was right. We went with the buy one pair and get one free. You also get a free eye exam if you purchase your glasses there. You pay for the eye exam and then they discount that off the price of the glasses. They do give you your prescription to take with you though. We chose two black frames that looked really nice and they were able to get both of the glasses ready in about 20 minutes so we didn't have to come back to pick them up. These glasses aren't name brand or anything but they are very stylish. However, they give you the cheapest plastic eye glass case I have ever seen. One of them is aligned weird and it's very hard to close. We didn't notice that until after we left. If you need very basic glasses...I think that Stanton is just fine. If you have more specialized needs, I would go elsewhere. read more

I'm always hesitant to get my eyes checked. I think eyes are weird. Haha. So today was long overdue! The receptionist for check in for the eye appointment wasn't very friendly. She just simply did her job. Can't complain if she's not rude. As for the gentleman who actually checked me eyes - he's something else! His directness can come off rude for some. For me, I just wanted to answer back frankly (after he was done with my eyes). This man was older and was rounder (for you calling in to schedule an appointment). I didn't catch his name and should have! My mistake. For the lovely lady who helped me find glasses - thank you Yana. She is new and absolutely sweet. She's not afraid to ask for help and kindly give her opinion when you try in glasses. If it wasn't for her, Staton's would have gotten 3 stars.
