I would not recommend this place. My grandparents went in for an eye exam and my grandmother was so uncomfortable the whole time. She's a strong women and doesn't get offended easily, but when she mentioned that the eye doctor laughed at her every time she couldn't read a number or letter, I could only imagine how degrading that must've felt. She paid close to $350 for the exam and the glasses, not to mention the frame of the glasses were already starting to peel after a week! read more

If I could give them a minus star I would. Took my frame in because they are very comfortable. They lost my frame. Called several times to see if glasses were ready and always got NOT HERE YET. When they finally said they were, went to pick them up, my lenses were put into a bronze frame which was the ugliest frames in the store. My frame is silver. Yes, they have you sign a release form that states if lost or damaged they would replace the frame with a frame of the customers choosing. Instead they picked it. This place is a scam! You go in and from wall-to-wall there are various amount of glasses that are knock offs and of cheap quality. Most of the glasses have repeated styles just to fill the walls with attractive amounts of options. There are one too many people selling you glasses. Why are there so many salesmen at an eye doctors office?! They didn't even ask for anything other than my name and phone number. Didn't ask for insurance or address. The "eye doctor" has no degrees proving his education in any of the rooms. Wears no lab coat, has no name tag, and gave me his "notes" to take with me that had nothing on them other than my name and date. Sketchy place. read more

I got glasses here 5 years ago they were great. Went back 3 years ago to get 2 more sets and 2 for my husband. I was never able to wear mine, horrible headaches just minutes after putting them on. Took them back several times, Covid hit so there was time between adjustments. Finally the last time I took them in I was told I had them too long for adjusting and if I would just wear them a couple weeks my headache would go away. So there is money down the drain because I'm not wearing them and dealing with a headache for a couple weeks. Still wearing my old ones from 5plus years ago and no headache. Had a wonderful experience with Ozlyn she was very welcoming as soon as I walked in the door. She was very upbeat and pleasant as she asked me if she could help me right away. I told her what I wanted and she took me right to what I needed. I was interested in a pair of sunglasses she showed me options and she kindly helped me. Terrible. Not only did they completely get the prescription on the glasses wrong but they denied it several times until we brought the glasses to our eye dr and they confirmed that the glasses were wrong. They flat out lied to us several times saying they had double checked it. When they finally said they would fix it there was no apologies, no discounts, no nothing. Just rude smugness. Terrible customer service. And of course they won't allow us to return the glasses even tho they are the ones who messed up. They have zero credibility in my eyes and awful customer service. Horrible customer service, absolutely the worst. Completely incompetent staff. Bought two sets of bifocals which were not cheap, and they were due today. We went to the branch where only one person was working and couldn't even get acknowledged. When I called to get a status they immediately gave me the brush off that I would be called, when pushed to know when they would be in, the staff member couldn't even find the order. Then again, could not tell me where my glasses were. The ads are deceptive, offering glasses and exam at 59, then when you pay up hundreds of dollars more they can't even offer the courtesy of being on time or at least knowing where the glasses are. I would not recommend. First off, the optometrist appointment is done through Zoom. You do not meet with an optometrist in person, which means the staff are basically inexperienced office personnel who don't really care about providing any type of customer service. I asked them if they could reuse an old Salt brand frame which I liked and to my surprise they said yes, however when I left my glasses thinking I had left them in good hands, they called me a couple of days later telling me that the frames that I left them were broken so they would not be able to use them. This was not true since I had taken a picture of them before giving them the glasses. I let that slide and left them a 2nd pair of salt frames, which I didn't receive until a few days ago because after about the 3rd week of them telling me the frames were in the mail, I decided to cancel and get my money back. So in good old Stanton Optical style, when I finally received a call that they did have them after 1 month! they popped the lenses out and gave me back the frames. They didn't care about making things right. I would stay away from this place and go to an optometrist who really cares about providing good service and quality. read more

This company is a joke! Buy one get one free is stupid. 2 for $59 is balogne!!! There was 2 types of lenses to choose from and one was fluorescent orange and made you look like dumbo. I picked out 2 for one and still walked out spending $400 for a basic pair of glasses with NO extras. Then waited almost a month and not one single email or phone call, NOTHING to tell me my glasses were ready to pick up?????? How about one courtesy call saying hey come get your new glasses????? Pro's: Very friendly staff, great prices, huge selection of frames, received glasses quickly, they resolved issues I had in minutes, I would do business with them again. Cons: Glass frames a little too scattered, music was so loud in store it was hard to talk to the staff (my last visit I noticed they had it at a reasonable volume), when I picked up my glasses I told the girl one set felt off and she said I'd get uses to it. Well I didn't and came back and they realized they put the lenses on the wrong side- bizarre - but they fixed it in 5 minutes. Also- don't invest in transition glasses. I wish I just purchased a pair of prescription sunglasses and regular glasses rather than 2 pairs of transition glasses. read more

When I comes to eye exams I like to see an actual Dr onsite. Stanton uses the telemedicine system where the Optometrist is not physically present but does the exam remotely. I was doubtful of my prescription and went back to my usual Optometrist. My prescription was way off. I went back to Stanton to fulfill my prescription (second optometrist) because of their large selection of glasses at a reasonable price. I bought two pairs for $250 which is cheap due to my high prescription requirements. They gave me a estimated arrival time of two weeks. My first pair arrived in 3 weeks, second one arrived in five weeks. The frame for the second pair was not the one I had ordered, they changed the frame onsite. Three weeks later, I get a copy of a letter my insurance sent to Staton asking them for my prescription. Four months later I get a fourth notice saying they still haven't received the prescription from Staton and that my claim will be rejected. I spoke to the store associates who referred me to corporate. Corporate refereed me back to the store and told me to ask them for a copy of my prescription so I can send it to my insurance. Avoid Stanton, save yourself a headache. read more

I am so disappointed with the unprofessional, lazy, lack of service & mis diagnosis i was given at Stanton optical on March 14 in Salinas!!! I took my 8 year old daughter for her first eye exam & after her skype visit with the doctor, the assistant informs us my daughters optic nerves were swollen & she would need to see a specialist. Ok so im thinking no big deal, asked them for a referral they tell me i wont need one. (Which obviously isnt the case if theyre referring her) so we leave. I google about optic nerve swelling & i felt like i was hit by a ton of bricks. There was nothing about this diagnosis that wouldnt be considered an emergency. Monday i call the specialist they schedule an appt for April 3 (once they received the referral that took Stanton 4 hrs to send via fax because the assistant didnt know how to use the fax machine) mind you i had asked for this at the time of the visit & they assured me i wouldnt need one. So after 3 long weeks of constant anxiety, lack of sleep, high blood pressure, & stressing out praying my baby didnt have a brain tumor or that her spine wasnt producing too much fluid to cause a tumor etc, finally Vantage eye center re evaluated her eyes & my daughter has 20/20 vision & no optic nerve swelling at all nor did she ever. These people should be shut down for malpractice, i dont wish this nightmare upon anyone in the world. They left me feeling so alone & scared all due to their failure to do their job correctly. I wouldnt even recommend this place to my worst enemy!!! read more

I went to Stanton yesterday. Long drive 76 miles round trip. The staff were personable, friendly, and generally helpful. The technical aspects leave a lot to be desired. The "eye exam" was nothing of the sort. It was a total fraud consisting of a nice lady in a remote location reading from a prepared script. "is it one , or is it two" ,no feedback. The person administering the exam never provided a clear image. Remember that is what the exam is for! It never happened. I have had real eye exams before. This was not one of them. She started the second half of the exam with the wrong lenses. Apparently you have to push the right button. So, I took the exam again. Different lady, same script. Better than the first time, but still no clear image. There was no way to formulate a prescription from that "exam". What they did do, was to take my existing glasses, measure the lenses, and reverse engineer a prescription. Total fraud. Elapsed time 4 hours, 9:00 A.M. til 1:05 P.M. How are the glasses? Left eye is just fine, right eye is fuzzy, just like my old glasses. Imagine! read more

I went in and got two pairs of glasses. I discovered scratches to both lenses of My second pair I picked up last week. When I called today to ask about the warranty the lady, Tonya, told me that it is a 20%copay and they are covered for two years and I would need to bring them in. The girls at Stanton Optical are very friendly and made my experience great! I hadn't had an eye exam in over 3 years, so I was due for one. I would have left with my glasses that same day, but I found out I have astigmatism so I have to wait 2 weeks for them. Which, I was expecting because I already knew my vision had been progressively getting worse over the last couple of weeks. Let me start off saying that my review originally started off with a five star. As my experience continued throughout my visit, it slowly went down, so, here's some clarity for why it ended up with the ranking it has. As another reviewer mentioned, the atmosphere feels very awkward when you walk in, look at the display frames, sit and wait...the whole thing feels very sterile (as one would expect for an eyeglass place) as well as unsocial. Sure, I got a nod and a slight corner of someone's mouth curl with the hint of a smile, but it didn't feel comfortable enough to even attempt small talk with staff. The eye exam department techs themselves were really nice, pleasant and made sure to check in on me periodically since I had a little wait time. It's to be expected since I was a walk-in. Anyway, the Obstetrician was very friendly and took his time to explain the exam process and what to expect before proceeding with anything. Overall, very happy with him. The only real suggestion I could make is that the gals who are to tend to the waiting room is that some patients should be informed that talking on their cell phones, while on speaker, is distracting for other patients & staff during an exam. I say that after experiencing a gentleman who parked himself right smack in front of the exam room I happened to be in. Not only was he was hard of hearing, he proceeded to carry on with his conversation with someone via speaker phone and happened to have a very loud voice which carried under the door. All the while, the softer spoken obstetrician was having to repeat himself quite a bit since the man on the phone was pretty overpowering. When trying to find my insurance information, I was a little embarrassed since I couldn't remember the company name seeing how my husband had just changed our provider, so, it was taking a little longer to actually get the information required to see what everything is gonna cost. The tech's body language came off super annoyed, didn't want to be all that talkative and gave short one worded responses. After a while, I gave up trying to small talk since it was obvious that he wasn't in the mood for it that day. That's fine, I understand. Everyone has days like that. So after everything is all said and done, I picked out four pairs, ended up buying two which he took away on a tray in addition to getting some polarized lenses for my Ray Bans I've had for over ten years. Before leaving, I took a pic of the frames I decided on and went on my merry way since they've give me a call once they're ready to be picked up. Picked them up and they did the wrong frames...lol. OK. They told me it'll take about 20 minutes and they'd have me all set to go. Noooooope. More like over an hour. Another issue, which is the main point I have with them, is that they told me that they had my frames in stock in the back. They didn't. I actually felt bad for the tech who had to go looking all over the place for these things and ultimately ended up taking the floor model off the wall and disappeared into the back with it. Guess who was still charged full price? Me. Who should've gotten some sort of discount, just something, for not only the inconvenience of them messing up my order, but also grabbing one that's not brand new. Never mind that when I finally got my stuff, when I asked if the frames were the floor model set... he sheepishly admitted they were. Sigh. He even admitted it! I normally wouldn't make a big deal about something like that, but I think since all the factors added up...it made for a not so pleasant experience, ya know? read more

I Took my mother to get her glasses, (who is Spanish speaking only) so I always go to help translate for her and help. optometrist was not patient enough to give me time to translate for her , nor was patient enough understand her. It wasn't comfortable for my mother and I. We got one pair of glasses and one pair of sunglasses with prescription. when we received them the sunglasses, had no sunglasses tint. Only had the sunglasses frame. they made them appear as regular prescription glasses. I do not recommend this location. read more

I was recommend to this place by a friend from school. My brother and I went in and the staff & Doc were so kind and welcoming. That same day they were able give us the free eye exam and we picked out our glasses. I bought contacts for the first time and the lady was so kind and patient teaching me how to put them on and take them off. It's also really easy to check up on updates to see when your glasses will arrive. We received our glasses in 2 weeks and we absolutely love them. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Were extremely unsympathetic at the fact my mom needed to use the restroom (she take lasiks) and because of the whole covid thing wasn't allowed too...my mom was in pain and almost had an accident and they did absolutely nothing on their part to help her. Also these idiots had my glasses sitting in their office for weeks after I paid for shipping on a "ready to pick up status". I called numerous times and explained they needed to be shipped and I paid for it, THEY DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. New location just opened up this week so I decided to look at what they offered since they accept my VSP insurance. As soon as I walked into the store I was greeted immediately by a representative to see what I needed. I informed him I had my prescription from my own optometrist which they were more than happy to accept, unlike some other places. Sandra was very helpful in measuring my eyes and getting all my insurance in order. Julian was the manager was very helpful and helped me into getting a second pair of glasses. I will update this review when I get my new glasses in about 2 weeks. Bonus is that they're open on Saturdays. read more

Please don't waste your time. Tried on first set of glasses and had to be sent back , prescription was wrong. Finally saw their optometrist for a real eye exam versus one conducted over Computer and a remote eye exam from Palm Springs. Prescription was better but is not perfect. Taking them back and getting a refund (within 30 days of receipt of your glasses). Staff was very inexperienced, did not know how to fit the new glasses, tried to tell me on the first glasses the shape of the frames affected the prescription. Not professional no matter what the TV commercial states. If you want inexpensive glasses, good service and see a real optometrist, use COSTCO. I have made an appointment with an Optometrist near Salinas Valley Memorial. I have heard great remarks about their office. read more

The atmosphere was completely weird and uncomfortable. First time I walked in I was greater by so many employees, when they asked if I needed help I kept saying no thanks, that I was just looking around. Regardless they all kept coming up to me every two seconds, which after a while got kind of annoying. I decided to give my insurance a try to see how much they would cover and they ended up telling me it was only $90 that my insurance would play. Any where else I go my insurance covers $300. Plus when looking at the glasses the material was extremely cheap. I will never come her again, the reason being is how uncomfortable I felt being there. Our first time as a family coming into Stanton. We had a great experience as one of us was a walk-in. I liked the fact that I was able to book appointment online. The doctors were approcheable and made sure we understood their questions during the exams. Thanya helped us in ordering our pair of glasses and shared about our coverage with insurance. She was friendly and approcheable. Two pairs were done and ready in less than 30 minutes. My pair is expected in 2 werks. I went back for an adjistment to my daughter's glasses and Thanya was attentive again. We will be coming back and recommend to others. read more

Stanton is a absolute joke. My husband has been there a couple times. Last year they couldn't get his prescription right. We made numerous trips to the Salinas Store. He had to finally see there actual optician. He was given a prescription for contacts. He felt like he was actually losing his eyesight. Last weekend we went back for a new prescription. The refractionist who saw him via video chat. Had my husband slouch down awkwardly in the chair and was still to tall to check his eyes. The refractionist was at his home with his kids screaming in the background. Needless to say we had to reschedule, there is no Eye Dr on site like there webpage says. My husband decided do to the bad experience the year before and again last weekend he better make a appointment with a more reputable eye place. My husband was seen yesterday by a office that had all new equipment and was able to perform multiple tests. They took one look at the previous prescription and asked my husband why he was ever given that? The Doctor proceeded to ask if my husband had operated any motor vehicles in the last year and explained it was illegal for him to drive a car or motorcycle with that particular prescription Stanton prescribed. My husband had been carrying through life for a full year with 0 depth perception. He does ride a motorcycle and does drive, basically he could of killed himself or someone else.my husband recurved a new prescription and immediately could see clearly.. he hadn't seen clear in over a year and assumed he was prematurely going blind.
