The processing was pretty fast and simple coming here. I was helped by jason the second time I went back for a lens replacement. The first time I went, everything was straight forward, if I had a question they answered all and got me the glasses I wanted. Doing the exam was on a zoom call, though it wasn't a problem to me. Why is zero stars not an option? My appointment at Stanton started off well, then two hours later it finally ended with me overpaying for two pairs of glasses (buy one get one free? as if!). Despite being told I could pick up one pair of glasses same day, here it is two days later and I'm being told I was never told that (guess I just decided on my own that was true?). Needless to say, the process to get my order fully refunded has only just begun. Fingers crossed it goes better than everything else I have been through with this place. We had the worst experience ever here. They lied to me about my insurance benefits, tried to upsell me on everything and refused to answer my questions when i asked about the extremely high prices. These people are shady AF, they work on commission and only want to make money. They lie about being contracted with your insurance to get you in the door, then they lie about actual costs. NEVER come here for glasses, or any sort of need for your Eye Care needs. It took my Wife over 3 months two get two pairs of glasses! And get this! She's "STILL" trying to get her pair of sunglasses! We should've known right from walking in, "Don't Do It!" But of course my spouse "bless her heart" wanted to give them a chance and continued to proceed with her eye exam. Turns out. They don't have a doctor on site, but 3 rooms with monitors that a doctor proceeds to do your exam from some "corporate office" lol. Try getting a good eye exam when the workers there walk in every five minutes while her procedure was going and the doctor had to redo parts of the exam more than once. So all of the lenses that she found on the site for our store "they didn't have in stock" be prepared to find "bottom of the barrel" selection that you have to "make" yourself like because you've already gotten that far in the process. So she waits over a month! Finally gets her glasses because "apparently" the shipment got delayed and nobody said anything. Turns out, the lenses are wrong. And one side of her frames were higher than the other. 3 weeks later. She gets them back, still with the lenses. 2 weeks later.. finally we have our first "Yes first!" Pair of glasses, not including the sunglasses she got. We spent "with CareCredit" over 500 dollars on the "buy one get one free promotion" "it's a bull promotion, don't trust it." She's still trying to get ahold of the manager who keeps dodging her phone call because they " LOST HER SUNGLASSES!" They aren't trying to get her a refund or correct it, they keep telling her "he's busy, he'll call you back in 5 minutes" he hasn't called yet! Some people who work here are good, others could use work. This place is Terrible and should never be allowed to have business. You're better off at going to a Walmart or Target if you don't have an eye doctor. read more

Horrible experience from start to finish. The sales guy who helped me was very unprofessional. Then the team didn't contact me when my first pair of glasses were done. They also nearly lost my second pair of glasses. The second pair was found in a random box with other loose glasses. And the worst part of all of it, is the metal frames that i got from there are disgusting!! The metal is cheap. Turned the nose pads green after only a few weeks and caused for a reaction where the metal directly touches my skin, and mind you, i do not have sensitive skin. My Dad believed he could fix his glasses by himself. He bent them out of shape. I wasn't sure if I could have them fix here because I didn't buy them here. We walked in and right away we were greeted. Delia noticed even without me saying what was wrong with my Dads glasses. She fixed them in no time at all. She was amazing and went above and beyond even tho we didn't purchase his glasses from there. She joked around with him and made him feel comfortable. This place has been horrible with us . I took my grandpa to get his eye exam because it was needed for the DMV . First of all the doctor that signs off paper work isn't even in office at this location. The nearest location you can be seen by the actual doctor is all the way in Bakersfield. So after getting the exam which was done by a Video conference call , we were told we would have to travel to Bakersfield to get the signature . So okay no problem, it's out of the way and inconvenient but we agreed , also after spending $400 on glasses there as well . So the day comes for my grandpas appointment and we head on the hour and 20 min drive to Bakersfield after having to call into work and find baby sitters to pick up my kids from school just to take my grandpa , because he cannot drive long distances without getting lost he has bad anxiety , and when we get there we are told the doctor isnt in the office today . Apparently he called out for the week and the assistant didn't bother to call us to let us know ahead of time to reschedule. So we drove all that way for literally nothing . So then we called to complain and try to figure out a way to get his paper signed because it is too difficult for us to drive that far again and they did waste our time , and they told us they would file a complaint and call us back within the next 48 hours with a solution . Well fast forward two months later and still no call . So I call them and we are told our complaint never went through , after being told on the phone our complaint DID in fact go through the day we filed it , and that they didn't file it because I was the one who called and not my grandpa , even though my grandpa WAS in fact on the phone with me when I called and he gave consent for me to speak on his behalf . My grandpa is a Vietnam vet and has bad social anxiety and ptsd so I handle all his speaking on the phone . This place is just so messed up . The man I spoke to today had a horribly strong accent to where it was hard to understand him and he didn't seem to be listening to anything I had to say or even care . He was trying to get me off the phone as quickly as possible . Save yourself some time and go to a real eye doctor. Somewhere that the doctor will be in the office in person and not over the computer. We are having to go to a whole new doctor now and re do his eye exam and pay all over again . I didnt like Stanton optical because I thought they were going to charge me a large sum of money for new glasses. The first time I went there I walked out paying $600. which I thought was so bad. My husband talked me in to going back with out getting the two sets of glasses so it might be cheaper. WE WENT! I got out of there with 2 sets of glasses for seeing near and far and I paid $180.00. At first I was taken back because everything I had chosen online the night before was all out dated, prices were much higher in the store than on the website, also I could not have my mother or anyone else in to help me choose my frames?! All that being said, my appointment was awesome Remon my salesman was over the top great, he explained everything and made my very first visit to Stanton completely worry free!! My mother was able to come in towards the end (there was nobody else in the store) and confirmed my choices, Remon gave us such a great deal, I was able to get everyday glasses and sunglasses!! We've used Stanton for a few years now and the past two experiences were such a slap in the face (and punch to the wallet). In August upon returning to teaching, I realized being on Zoom all day I would now need the blue coated glasses. It was time for my a half visit anyway, so I booked my appointment. Due to Covid, I was alone in the exam room. Very little was actually done. No questions were asked by the...doctor??? on the other end of the tv screen I was being seen by that day other than the usual "which is better, 1 or 2?" I walked out and was handed a box and told to pick frames. NO discussion of what happened or what I needed. Picked my frames, and an hour and just under $500 later, after being convinced it was in my best interest to not go through insurance at all to get the best deal. I was in such a bind from the headaches from now having my entire job on a computer that the employee did just what she was likely told to do - upswell, upswell, upsell. Oh, and did I mention that the previous year was my first time ever in my life needing glasses and that was only the tiniest prescription for reading, but this year I suddenly needed bifocals?! Cut to a few weeks later, no call but checked the website and found they were ready, went in and they couldn't be found. Went back who knows how long later and there they were. I put them on and expressed how VERY tight and unclear they were and got the "oh, they're just new and you have to get used to them" by the sales lady, NOT a doctor doing any adjustments. She kindly reminded me I could try them out and if I still didn't like them, I could come back and switch them out. I went back a week later still uncomfortable and was told to give them a full month to really get used to them...and then I was conveniently out of the "switch 'em no questions asked" window. I wish this was the worst, most disgusting display of business I had to report, but what happened this last week tops it And absolutely solidifies that we will NEVER return to Stanton Optical and will definitely tell everyone we know to avoid it at all costs. I'm down to one of the two pair from August and the pair I have left is so extremely uncomfortable that I wanted to go and get a replacement pair. The gentleman helping me was nice enough, but for whatever reason, I had to call insurance myself to prove benefits???!!! Picked the frame I wanted in about 30 seconds (SOOO comfy and beautiful, as if made exactly for me), filled out a form, called insurance for him, and things were on their way. While talking through the upgrades to my new glasses, I mentioned I hated the bifocals, NEVER used them to see distance (as they were intended) because they actually made everything blurry, and we decided I only needed to order the lenses as readers with the very weak prescription, simple lense, no extras, etc. Yay, maybe I'll finally get a pair that won't give me massive headaches when I wear them and that will actually feel comfy on! He politely mentioned that now that I wasn't doing the upgrades, the "2 pair for the price of one" deal that Stanton so proudly displays would be perfect. He said when we finished I could go pick my second pair. When we got to that point, I asked pointedly THREE times if I should go pick my second pair. He responded by ignoring the first question, brushing off (actually waving his hand) the second, and mumbling something about "no need to do that." But weren't they going to be almost no extra work for him or cost for me?! I paid my $104 (for basic, simple, no frills, no extras, no upgrades readers!!!) and was told he would personally call me when they were in, possibly even the next day since they were so simple. Still not to the end of this nightmare, though... Over a week later, still no word. I had knee surgery a week after I ordered the glasses and was hoping I'd have them before. I called, got the automated runaround where I was told I and my glasses don't exist, went online and saw they were, in fact, ready for pickup. I hobbled in not long after opening and waited almost 10 minutes to even be acknowledged by the poor girl running herself ragged, working alone on the floor (and reminding EVERYONE in ear shot of this) to answer all of the calls, send people to the eye appointment room, hand out pick-ups, etc. She directed the eye appointment in front of me to that room, directed me to the area to wait, and then I watched in painful horror and disgust and she fully helped the next THREE customers to walk in after me. At 9:57 another employee walked in with his large Starbucks order and went to the back. This is when she approached me, the look on her face clearly stating that she forgot a few customers were now...still...waiting to pick up their items. She put my information into the computer and just as she started digging through the glasses to look for my order, the other employee came out from the back and asked to help the next person after me. This place sucks. First of all who ever schedules the appointments need to inform the patient the correct info. When making the appointment I told them my brother was deaf and could not hear, also that we didn't have the physical insurance card but I had the insurance info. He told me it was ok and to bring what we had and they could accommodate him because he was deaf. We get there and the lady is rude, tells me we needed the insurance cards told her the man in the phone said we didn't need it and told her to cancel the appt, she proceeded and said we can see what we can do. Then after filling out the paperwork some man comes out and says we can't see him because he was deaf. I asked why I couldn't translate for him and they said we had to do a virtual appt. Pros and Cons: Ok I get the draw to this place with the constant advertisement for big sales on glasses, as seemingly you get a great deal. The BUT is that the glasses are cheap-cheap-cheap quality in my opinion! Mon, Wed, & Fri they have a real optometrist. Unfortunately, I went in a Tuesday and got the "virtual" optometrist, which was a video and an automatic machine that turned to different strengths during the exam. It was so weird and my glasses from that exam made my eyes feel crossed, I just couldn't explain it, but something wasn't right. Also the sunglasses I purchased immediately had lenses popping out. One girl tried to repair them, but sent me home with a shoddy job and lenses off the track, and they still pop out constantly. The shining star at this establishment is Miriam. She is a manager here, and ALWAYS tries so hard to make things right for me. Miriam is consistently professional, polite, and goes above and beyond. If I owned an optical business, she would be my first choice to run it. I guess a pro would be getting a decent pair of glasses at a good price, but I find that they end up more expensive and waaayyy worse quality than Costco, even if you cash pay. But the staff is very friendly and really tries hard which is the biggest pro. read more

I am updating my review from years ago and giving this place one star instead of the five it used to earn from me. The employees used to value and care about their customers. Maybe the pandemic has jaded people or they have made a lot of staff changes, but I was not treat with compassion and I got more of a car sales vibe rather than eye care. They charge too much for glasses, but have always worked with my budget in the past, but now they are gouging me during a pandemic and trying to make me feel like they are doing me a favor when I have lost all my income for two months and am still waiting on stimulus and unemployment money to come in. I was told by Martha, who's said she was a manager, that I would have to pay $50 more for the exact same order I got last time, literally the exact same frames and lenses plus eye exam as last time, but $50 more! She was rude and seemed to only care about sales. I wonder if the employees are on commission, because they sure act like it. This ends my ten years of doing business with this establishment. It is sad because I thought I had a relationship with this place and could trust that they care about more than sales. I reached out to their corporate customer service in many ways with zero response. This corporation does not value it's customers and I would not be surprised if the internet companies like Zenni and Payneglasses puts these guys out of business because they no longer have good service, so why choose them. That is the way I will be going from now on. It is too bad because I will miss having a great relationship with a place I can walk into, but the internet has ways of letting you try on glasses virtually. Too bad you can't give 0 stars. On 2/22/17 I went into Stanton Optical for an exam and to order some eyeglasses because of an advertisement on the outside of their building -" 2 Pair of Glasses for $69.00 - lowest price guaranteed". At the time, their reviews on Yelp were 5 stars. We went in and first payed for the exam fee ($39) which they charged immediately. We then selected an eyeglass frame, priced at $139.00. They had a buy one get one free promotion so we decided to go with a nicer frame than the one advertised outside. Once the exam was complete and we selected a frame, the salesperson wrote up our estimate. To our surprise the price was around $250 per pair. The invoice she had printed was incredibly detailed and confusing and she said it was going to have the discounts applied once we decided the type of lens we wanted. We were under the impression that the lenses would cost $124 per pair, not per lens! (x4) plus we were supposed to see a discount of one pair free. The eye exam was also supposed to be free (by applying the fee to the pair of glasses). She also said that she would give us membership to their Frame Club, which is like a discount club and warranty. We did not realize she was going to be charging us $25 for a membership fee. When we had said we would go ahead and go through with ordering the glasses because we had invested money already, she charged my card immediately and handed us this invoice and receipt - the total was $499! In addition to the sticker shock, we also asked for a copy of the lens prescription and the woman said it was for her and walked away. This is ILLEGAL, we were later informed by Costco eye department, who had to call Stanton on our behalf to receive a copy of the prescription. They gave them grief as well, for wanting to obtain a copy. We were stunned and left the store feeling duped. I had to leave immediately on a business trip so we reviewed the invoice when I returned and found all of the additional charges, like the $124-199 PER LENS, the additional fees for membership which were supposed to be free (under our impression). I recall her stating that they have a no refund policy once the glasses are accepted at pick up. So we have not visited the Stanton store to approve the glasses for fear that they will have grounds to not give us a refund. We have called to request a refund and to speak with the manager and after being given the run around, said they would call us back in 30 mins, etc. Avoid this shady place! Go to Costco instead. read more

I was told a special order of glasses would take 4-6wks. I waited patiently for 6wks, then called for an update and there was nothing. Over two months later, I had found out the reason I got no updates was because they entered both my number and name incorrectly into their system. So my glasses were sitting there for probably weeks and nobody bothered to call me. And when I called them, the guy on the phone couldn't understand when I was spelling my name, which has a "C", so I made it easier by saying "Charlie", he kept searching using "T", slowing down the process and making things even more difficult. Are you serious? The level of complete incompetence of this place is mind boggling. Drive to Fresno if you want to use a Stanton center. It's not Stanton as a business, since I've used them for years without problem - it's the underskilled and underqualified people at the Visalia Mooney location that's the problem. read more
