Dr. K & her staff have been God sends! Words can't express how much of a blessing Stanton Pet Hospital has been to our family and dog, Bella whom was clipped by a car that left that then put his car in reverse to flee the scene of the accident. A hit and run that left her bleeding and crying uncontrollably. I didn't know what to do. We were devastated because we knew she was in horrible pain yet we only wanted Dr. Kavannaugh's professional opinion, so that's what we did. Thanks to Dr. K. Kavannaugh (and her entire office) working around the clock and refusing to let Bella be an amputee, she is today walking on 4s and without a limp or foot misplaced in her gait. I thought we were going to get a call that they didn't know what to do so they put her down because there were days that passed, she was boarded the their team and we couldn't go to visit. It was a little nerve-wracking for us not knowing what was going to happen. Again, Stanton Pet Hospital provided round the clock care and Dr. K was a miracle worker whom made great decisions about her health and ultimate immune system as she chose different yet equally essential medications pre and post op to safeguard her God forbid there was infection. She then titrated her medications and dosages and thankfully Bells doesn't require daily meds for either infection nor pain today. Her recovery process we couldn't do without them as it included weekly wound cleaning and dressing change. I NEVER recommended pet owners experimenting at home with a health issue that should require medical attention. because, even though I'm a professional, we aren't always when it comes to our own pets and children. We tend to act on emotion with our own. not logic when a decision for a loved one is involved. Also, I may be a neat freak and my home is very clean but remember it is NOT a sterile environment so never safe to practice in. Anyway , we had to board Bella pre-op as it was absolutely essential for her to have those professional hands and a sterile environment to avoid secondary infection and optimal healing. All of the office staff treat the same patient, gentle way and provide professionally sound advice for us pet owners Again, Thank you Dr. K and all employees from the bottom of our hearts. To the general public, try Stanton Pet Hospital. I know it is the right vet for you and look forward to hearing your experience. I also want to say to anyone who is negatively commenting to always first accentuate a positive. I know when dealing with loss it may seem impossible but perhaps your furry friend is in heaven and no longer in pain or perhaps they are enjoying meal missed prior because they were not eating. Grieving is unfortunately for the living, not the deceased and it's the ONLY scientific process, that doesn't have to occur chronologically. In other words, Denial, acceptance, bargaining, are examples of the parts of grieving process and though acceptance is the last one listed, it is often not the final step but often rather the first for some. Again, try to find one positive before having a field day with negative comments online. Get a journal to write down your thoughts in and be professional with reviews as you should always begin your review with a positive comment and then transition to the negative. A journal can help one personally especially if they need to release those negative thoughts. Don't bring your emotions to a professional online platform if you can't post a comment like an emotionally regulated adult. If you're grieving, hold on pain ends, just don't write a review publicly if you're still in that grieving process. Remember, Hurt people hurt people and this a professional business that are some dedicate everything to so reevaluate your mood while going publicly. Again. I'm sorry for anyone who has gone through the passing of & imagine the taxing job it is to have to inform family that their pet isn't going to be going home. Medical professionals can deem human/animal's quality of life is severely affected (appetitive, sleep, ambulatory, mood, etc.) that it's time to reevaluate how to get this pet comfortable as we can't have them living this low of an existence. It's not always the intended outcome; however, it would be selfish to keep a pet alive without existing in daily healthy life especially if it possibly cause a pubic health crisis. I can assure you that Dr. K is one of the least selfish i know. Stanton Pet Hospital has my trust. VCA has also been amazing after hours, truly around the clock 24/7 establishment; however, I truly can't can't leave Dr. K because of the dedication, service and trust I have in her. Please read other reviews and avoid this place at all costs--especially if you need USDA paperwork. Before coming, I called and was told the doctor was USDA accredited. When I arrived, I even asked the front desk again, and she confirmed, "Yes, the doctor is accredited." So I trusted them. After my dogs received their vaccines around 5:30 p.m., I mentioned we might be traveling internationally and would need a health certificate and rabies certificate signed by a USDA-accredited vet. That's when the front desk suddenly admitted the doctor is only accredited by California--not USDA. She repeated this several times and told me I'd have to go elsewhere. In short, I was misled. Save yourself the hassle and go to a clinic that actually has a USDA-accredited vet. To make matters worse, the front desk (who claims she's worked there for 30 years) told me to "ask the consulate" because the doctor doesn't know about travel requirements. Completely unprofessional--rude, dismissive, and not helpful at all. And if the doctor is reading this: check your cameras and listen to what your staff is telling clients. I'm not making this up. Even after I wrote this review, the front desk still confirmed the doctor is only California-accredited, not USDA. So either the doctor is lying--or this whole place is a scam. P.S. To whoever replied to my message on GM: why should I have to call your employee when they are the ones who gave me false information, wasted my time, and cost me money? Also, your response said this hospital has only been open for 12 years--yet your staff claimed they've been doing health certificates there for "over 27 years." Also made me wait over 40 minutes for medical records to be printed out for me, which we called ahead of time for & I ended up leaving without them because I needed to rush my cat to a hospital. Where can I start with Dr. Kavanagh and team.... I have taken numerous ferals to get TNVR'd here. Not only is it affordable but the process is always smooth sailing. I can tell they truly care about every feral and the over population/suffering issues. I have been working with Dr. Kavanagh on one of my younger cats who we believe is fip+. Her and her team have been so comforting, thorough, attentive and understanding. Do not bring your pet here ever, my friend called me yesterday bawling her eyes out, her cat Stewart had an appointment to be neutered on February 13, 2026 the vet called and told my friend they suspected her cat had a UTI. The vet told her she could run test tests do x-rays lab work quoted her a price my friend and her mom went down to the vet. Once they got there. There was an old lady named Kathy. That was extremely rude. She basically told my friend that her cat needs to be euthanized. Nothing else was said this old lady Kathy said her cat needed to be put down and that was that my friend attempted to go up to the carrier and call her cat and when her cat was walking up to come to her through the carrier door. The old lady Kathy said get out of here and kicked her out of the room. My friend was obviously upset. She was asking questions crying, saying why and this old lady Kathy kept saying get out of the room get out of here leave and my friend said that that's my daughter's cat what am I going to tell my daughter and again the old lady Kathy said get out of here and shut the door on her. She brought my friend's mom in the room was telling my friend's mom. The best thing to do is put the cat down. There was no offer for a second opinion there was no offer for treatment. It was quick,and Kathy was arguing with my friend and basically ignored my friend and told her mom the cat needs to be put down, my friend's mom comes out of the room, tells her daughter to sign the paper to have the cat euthanized, and my friend was crying and wanted to know why what's wrong with her cat there was nothing wrong with her cat. Her cat was not sick Why are they wanting to euthanize him again Kathy ignored. My friend shook her head was irritated that my friend was crying and bawling her eyes out then handed the paper to her mom and her mom signed because Kathy was screaming that the cat needed to be euthanized. My friend tried to take her cat before her mom signed the paperwork for the cat to be euthanized and that old lady Kathy told her get out of here and shooed her out of the office two of the workers there told her you can take your cat it's your cat and again the lady Kathy told the girls to go in. They need help in the office and shooed my friend away from her cat. My friend was upset was not getting answers wasn't told anything was an emergency with her cat wasn't told her cat was dying right then and there wasn't given options was treated like she was annoying for being upset and crying about her cat, and the news that these people wanted to euthanize her cat, she left confused upset. No answers wasn't able to say goodbye to her cat wasn't able to even know why her cat needed to be euthanized before she took her cat her cat was perfectly fine when my friend called me to tell me what happened. I immediately knew from everything she told me there was something wrong. I personally met my friend down there to ask them why the cat needed to be euthanized why my friend was told to leave and not given any answers as to what the emergency was to where her cat needed to be euthanized, I went down there after being there for a little bit everyone ran to the back. There was another lady there Stephanie that came out of the back room immediately giving us dirty looks ignoring us helping other people before us because she knew my friend was upset and she knew that I wanted answers wouldn't help us because my friend's mom wasn't there made us wait. A very long time. My friend's mom called and told Stephanie that she can share the information about the cat to my friend. Long story short they put her cat Stewart down. My friend and her mom weren't able to say goodbye to the cat didn't know why the cat needed to be put down. There was no test that were run. There was no options of getting a second opinion Kathy, the old lady that works there kicked my friend out told her to leave the cat alone screamed at her and told her to get out of the office. They didn't want me anywhere around because I know what they did was wrong. I've taken cats here my cats here and strays and I will never be taking another pet or any animal that I love here. I will be helping my friend with contacting the veterinary board. These people took advantage of my friend her mom and their cat,, please please if you love your animals. Do not take them here. THEY called me to tell me they could not see me at the original appointment time(5:30) so I rushed to get there at 3:30 which I guess worked better for them. They took my cat back and didn't come to talk to me till 5. I was told she was back there doing an exam on him but I let her know before hand I've never met this doctor and wanted to be there for the exam . When the doctor finally came she was talking to me about his general health but I was there for a limited exam because his meow was gone. She then said he didn't meow so she didn't know and maybe the could for a X-ray or put him under to see. Took my cat that was in perfect health there Jan 9th. The appointment was to get neutered.. The ecollar I paid for and was supplied by the hospital was tied on with a piece of fabric. The cat broke out of it before the end of day. From that day till now my cat has had none stop diarrhea ( giardia) I have since called multiple times and asked for a follow up call with the vet. We never got to see the Vet who was examining our cat. While driving to a NEW pet hospital location, the VET of Stanton Pet hospital personally called us asking "If we found a cheaper price?" ** RED FLAG**** she offered us a referral to another vet clinic that charges cheaper. We thought this was so so WEIRD because why she did want to charge us $800? then offered us another place that charges cheaper? Why did she call us to only ask if we are going to a cheaper pet hospital?? ALSO, the doctor lied about her name. ** RED FLAGG** she told us her name was Doctor Judy. Unprofessional, sell unnecessary treatments, scare tactics and use emotions and guilt to persuade dewormer for an eye infection visit.. my cat already had dewormer and was up-to-date. They wanted many treatments to be done that had nothing to do with the purpose of the visit: eye infection. Didn't do treatment or services there. Had to do at home eye infection remedies. The eye infection was gone the next day without treatment. So, didn't need to take to another vet for the eye infection. Never had any eye infection or health problems after. They tried to scare me and said my cat could have feline hiv and all kinds of possibilities when I asked why they couldn't just treat eye infection. Imagine going to your doctor for an eye infection and them doing blood work and all kinds of things before checking your eye to see if it was okay.. It didn't make sense. Glad I trusted my gut. They had me leave my cat for two hours to get a call that they could not "restrain" him to examine him. At least they didn't charge me but are you kidding me! Here's my take on Stanton Pet Hospital. I was referred here by a friend, who like me, didn't want to spend a bajillion dollars at my normal vet for spaying (which I'm not opposed to paying if prices weren't so astronomically higher than my previous pets). In terms of communication... I had to try calling a couple of times to make an appointment because their lines were either busy or I was left to the answering machine.... but once I got on the phone, I was able to schedule an appointment and the vet / nurse on the other line was super helpful in giving me instructions and advice about how to go about prepping my dog as well as when to get my other dog scheduled seeing as how she was still in heat. In terms of pricing, it's fair. I had my late dog spayed about 8 years ago and the prices have gone up almost $200 since then, but I expect that over the other quotes of $800-$1000 from other vets... so with that... I appreciate this hospitals willingness to serve the community with affordable pricing. Prior to our appointment, I had both (1) phone call and (1) text to remind me of my appointment. So that was cool. Day of the procedure.... it was a little hectic. I was instructed to wait in my car and come a little early (I was the first one in the lot). Once 9am hit, there were around 5 different cars/families who started lining up outside. No panicking... I decided to stay in my car and just see how it all unfolded. The nurses put out a sign that repeated the instruction of staying in the car and calling the number. I was nervous because they came out with a sign in sheet and started signing in the people who were waiting in line outside. Eventually they came up to my car and got my information, when I had informed them that I had an appointment - they reassured me that I would be seen at the time scheduled! Side note... I found the nursing staff really friendly, patient, and kind. So... key tip - if you're doing a major surgery or check up - appointments are key. This seemed to be the case especially as it seemed like the people who showed up to wait at the door ended up departing shortly after talking to the nurses. Procedure-wise... Our pup came out okay. I got several calls during the vet asking if I wanted certain things performed (baby tooth removal, nail trimming...) and while I didn't feel pressure to have any of those done by the vet... knowing that they called me during the procedure made me anxious just to have everything done and out of the way. All in all - my initial experience with Stanton Pet Hospital hasn't discouraged me from wanting to book with them shortly for my other dog who needs surgery. read more

Took my cat here to be neutered, get all his vaccinations, and update on flea medication. It is a hit or miss over the phone. The men answering are always a joy and very nice; however, when the women answer they are always very rude. The first time I called the woman almost hung up on me just because I said I didn't have a kennel for my cat and I had to quite literally YELL at her saying I would buy one immediately; which I did. The receptionists are alright. However, the veterinarians and technicians are very knowledgeable and super nice, in person and over the phone. I'm giving this place only 3 stars because of the wait and customer service for select individuals. I set up an appointment for 2pm, and they did not take my cat in until 2:50/3PM. So I had to wait to simply just drop off my cat, as his exam was not finished until 8PM (which I would just simply pick him up later). I understand that the hospital must finish all emergency surgeries before taking in any exams which is very understandable. However, I don't understand why it takes almost an hour just to take my cat to the back. They should start having a better process or more staff so patients arent waiting so long. Took a healthy 3lb female to get spayed, few days after operation noticed a pouch on her belly... returned and asked the vet and she argued it was fatty tissue and then offered an extra $400 to fix the issue she created. Chose her because a friend had worked with them before and our normal vet was booked so we went here. Upon seeing the images our vet made a emergency appointment and had to clean up scar tissue and push intestines back in, she had intestinal strangulation which could have led to a painful death. The front office was amazing and have no issues with them, but the vet was argumentative and wouldn't even accept that she messed up instead berated us. Beware this Animal hospital is a money pit. They will try to charge for everything and over charge if you are not aware. And even with an appointment you end up waiting for hours. Most pet parents would do anything for their fur babies, and that's why you end up overspending. I took my dog Lucy to get her shots and check up. They quoted me so many things, I declined half of it but my First bill was over $300! Then they called to tell me her lab values were abnormal. And she needed redraw another $69. Then two days later they said her labs are still too low maybe it's their machine, but it's so low that it's best to send it out to another lab, and if it's still low then we need a tick test. Mind you I didn't know what a tick test meant, after we denied a third lab draw and insisted to go straight to the tick test the Veterinarian came out super annoyed explaining that she needs the redraw first. It just didn't feel right anymore and I asked for the quote for both the redraw and the tick panel. $90 for the third redraw, plus $369 for tick panel OMG! My dog is 11, and I don't doubt she has health issues now. I actually ended up taking her to VCA Yorba Linda two weeks later because her mouth had sores. They were so nice, the doctor explained what her labs from Stanton Pet meant and that there's really only two possibilities with these labs being so low, autoimmune disease or cancer. Not a happy ending either way. But they didn't over charge me, they were fast and friendly. Possibly unrelated because I can never really prove, but after taking Lucy to Stanton Pet she ended up with a bad flea problem, which she didn't have before. read more

Not sure what is the issue there. I had 2 of my 4 kitties get their shots there and 1 got fixed there and I had to correct them on my cat's medical records, they had it all backward. Fast forward I have another new kitty I'm trying to get fixed. They have terrible communication. The story keeps changing and they don't keep you in the loop. At some point they stopped spaying and didn't bother to call us on the wait list with females. We're told we will get calls back and nothing. My mother-in-law has been on a waitlist to fix a cat for over 4 months and myself for over a month. They tell us if we go anywhere else it'll be $400+ and a long wait as well I found one place $140 and 3-week wait. Found another place $85 and 1-month wait. We have both decided to go elsewhere. Yes perfect place for your doggies to get help on anything mine was a spay followed doctors orders and my dog is happy camper. Most of all the staff is caring towards all babies which I really appreciate all the great support and job they did. Please do not hesitate to bring your baby here. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. If you truly love and care for your animal do not trust this place. We took our playful kitten in at 11:30am 5/19/21 for some stomach concerns and allergies. They kept her until 5pm the same day when my partner picked up our Coco she was lethargic and and barely able to walk. I spoke with Sylvia who I'm assuming the the office manager there and stated they only did an ear cleaning, oral dewormer and a couple other things. But she swears up and down the did not sedate my cat. This place is a joke and I would never recommend this place to anyone. When I mentioned all the other terrible reviews on here and how what other people are saying is true she got defensive and said that those are just angry people who wrote these reviews. And I told her rightfully so our animals are our babies and when we trust a vet with them we expect them to be treated humanly. read more

this was my first visit at the hospital and due to covid i guess the nurse receptionists come out and ask you questions about your animal. this women Stephanie, was very rude from the start. She asked me questions about my kitten and wasn't understanding me and started to give me attitude. i'm not sure about the actual nurses reviews but as a receptionist if you're gonna give immature and unprofessional attitude to patients who are waiting, suggest on getting another job. remi read more
