This place is a f*ing joke. The staff is useless. That being said, I've been shopping here for 10 years, and will continue to do so as long as I live in JC. I went here to buy a desk lamp this weekend. I couldn't find a single one in the entire store. I finally got a hold of somebody, and they told me that they had a ton of options, but they were all in boxes up on a high shelf, and none were open for display. How the F does that make sense for a retails store?!?!?! Anyway, I gave up on the lamps, and bought some other needed office supplies. I then proceed to wait in line at check out for nearly 15 minutes, which has been my average wait time checking out of the store over the last decade. Exceedingly bad customer service - and disrespectful of women - well I'm a woman so maybe I should just speak for myself. I went in to pick up some toner for my HP printer/copier. I forgot to write down the number of the toner and it is a new printer. I had to ask the service associate for help even though he was standing right by me doing nothing. He was very rude and briskly leafed through a booklet and then he actually touched the merchandise with the bottom of his filthy shoe to tell me what to buy. He didn't ask if I wanted color or black ink, so when I told him that I wanted color, he stuck his filthy bottom of his shoe on the color ink. Worst of all, when I got home, he sold me the wrong product and I had to drive 5 miles back to the store the next day to get the correct toner. The manager did not care about my story and only replied that everyone loves him. Really? What about your customers? Never going back to this store ever. Will start going to Office Depot if I need to buy something when I'm home or go to the Staples in Parsippany near my other office where they know what being polite to their customers really means. read more

The Great Christmas Card Debacle of 2012 (see original review) still keeps the overall score for this Staples low, but I've been in for non-print-related things (that were unavailable elsewhere) and had better experiences. And then, for Valentine's Day, they came through on a huge engineering print/blueprint that I used as a poster. Service was fast, they didn't mess it up (I included detailed notes about the bleed, etc.) and the sales clerk I dealt with at pickup was very friendly and chatty. So they've moved up 1 star in my mind. read more

They usually have pretty good prices for most of the items I am looking for. They also have online coupons that you should look at before checking out. Staples does price match with major competitors so if you can find it for cheaper elsewhere, show it to the cashier and they can price match for the lower price for you. This is one of the reasons I do shop here if I need something immediately and don't want to wait for it to be shipped to be. It is a large store but they still lack selection in certain products. Back to school deals are pretty good. read more

Thanks to your crappy rent-a-guard and the sticker on the driver window of my car, you lost a sale today. I had planned to run to ATM, ran into friends and dropped by for football for a bit, and had planned to come back and buy printer ink. NOPE. You put a sticker on my car without a sign warning me about this... and have some dumb kid named "Alex" tell me that I was lucky that I didn't get my car towed (AFTER 2 HOURS AND AN EMPTY LOT). Yep, you better believe I went home and bought it on Amazon. They can have my shipping fees. Never going to this location again. It's a Sunday afternoon, not a commuter day. Ridiculous. Good job paying some kid $15/hr to be a jerk to your potential customers. I get that he's just doing his job, but you need to add some more signs bc there was zero signage between where I parked and the path to walk to the Chase ATM, so how was I supposed to know? This is probably the worst staples. The customer service there sucks. Not one employee asked if I needed help. Instead they either seemed like they didn't want to be bothered or had a nasty attitude. It was clearly obvious I was having a hard time and instead of helping me they chose to talk about me from the service window. I will never go to this location again. read more

Very satisfied with the Staples located on Washington Blvd. in Jersey city! I made a printing order this morning and it was ready by 2pm as advertised. When I came in, I realized I had sent the wrong thing to print. An associate named Q from the printing department was nice enough to lend me his computer so that I could resend the order. He even printed out the order for me on the spot ! I waited no more than ten minutes. I highly recommend this Staples if you want quick printing services and accommodations ! Thanks Q! read more

Placed a small 400 postcard order at 11:30 called to find out when it will be ready (online says could take 3-4hrs) the store says not for 6 hrs!! When I ask why am I paying for same day if they can't provide it to me in the timeframe quoted- will I get a discount. The print supervisor says I can't talk to you and puts me on hold for 20mins. I call back and ask to speak to Marlana DeLeone the GM of the shop and tell her my expereince and her reply, "I heard your issue and we are just too busy and can't do anything to help you" As a small business owner who prints for other business owners in JC- I will never go back to this location ever again! read more

Guys...I dont have any reviews about your store today but seriously think you need to look at this... The owner and employees of your towing company misbehaved and blackmailed when I went to collect my car that they towed away yesterday. Now the complete story - I parked my car at Modell's/Staples parking lot in Jersey City but did not visit their store...and understandably my car was towed away. I saw their guy towing away my car right in front of the parking lot and asked him to stop...he said I will need to pay 150 and they will return the car..he handed over the company's card with address and drove away..within a few minutes I took a taxi to their office to collect my car. To my surprise they quoted 182 to release the car..when I asked for details ..they lady behind the counter said they will charge 30 additional for putting the car on their lot. I told her that the towing guys told us 150 like 10 mins ago...she said you can talk to owner who is standing outside...the owner first aggressively blocked the car from behind with a lift truck maybe to intimidate us... we tried to speak to the owner and he did not agree to listen to us except to take his 182 bucks...he threatened me and my wife and started abusing us with stuff like...you may have bombs on you...you look like terrorists...this is when i collected some courage to capture at least some part of conversation in a video...and immediately one of their employees charged at me blabbering f* word as you can see on the video...the other voice you hear is my wife asking me not to shoot as they can do anything to us and we were genuinely scared...the guy then went on to tell his boss that he showed me a finger and abused me to which his boss seemed very pleased...I had to resign to this extortion of money so I paid the guys and went to my car and noticed scratches because of towing - I approached the owner again and he said he does not care about anything now and I should call police..already traumatized and threatened by these guys...we rather decided to leave the premises as staying there any further could have meant injuries or damage to our car... read more

Extremely unprofessional! I came just to recycle an ink cartilage and saw that the two lines that were open were ridiculously long. None the less I waited on one and the line closed and had to wait on another one. Then I realized that there are people walking around doing nothing whatsoever I went to the print center and asked where I can go to recycle the cartridge. The man there told me to go to the customer service desk I wait at the customer service desk and a woman approaches me asking if she could help me I explained to her that I'm here to recycle a cartridge and she says to me can go on any line I told her that the print center told me to come to the customer service desk and she says to me well then you can just go back to the print center! I gave her the cartridge and I said to her you can just throw it in the garbage my time is too valuable I'm not going to wait any longer. This is bull f****** s***! The whole reason you recycle the cartridge at Staples is to get $2 credited to your account for future purchases. Good luck on you having me as a customer in the future. Also I must had the men's room is absolutely filthy beyond belief. Really should contact the board of health. It's got to be in violation of something. read more

The printing service at the Jersey City on Washington Blvd is horrible. Do yourself a favor and don't even try. Find another Staples location or try printing your project at FedEx in Hoboken. Last week I tried to print a very simple black and white large print at this location and the associate who was trained to print was not even available and was apparently on his break and didn't even acknowledge that I was standing there. Staples needs to have at least two associates who are properly trained to accommodate costumers. This is not the first time I was treated this way for printing services. Get the names of the associates who are supposed to be helping and file a complaint with their corporate office. Avoid this printing service if you don't want to experience rude and unprofessional attitude. I ended up using a different printing service and filed a complaint with their headquarters. Hopefully they hire properly trained professionals and when I see the reviews change in the future maybe I'll give them another chance. For now they are 100% losing a costumer and everyone I know will hear about my unpleasant experience. read more

Whatever you do DO NOT shop at Staples branch 1168 at 615 Washington Street in Jersey City! Horrible customer service does not begin to cover it! I'll post a longer version of this later, but this week on Tuesday they said they could change the battery in my cell phone, and I quote "in 20 minutes" at noon on Tuesday, and they can neither get it to work (they took it apart without having the right battery and couldn't put it back together again so it worked, leaving me waiting there for several hours), and on day two they said the NEW battery they put in (which, instead of buying locally they had overnighted from Texas) won't charge past 3%. Yes, of course they only ordered one, they were supposed to have yet another battery for me today (more overnighting) but I was just told "we missed UPS, it is in the warehouse in Secaucus, we aren't going to get it today, you'll have to wait until they deliver it here tomorrow". "We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service, this is the first time this has happened here in eight years". When I asked why they just didn't walk across the street and buy the correct battery from Verizon and put it in I was told "if we did that for everyone we would be out of business"! I then asked "but you just said this hasn't happened even once before in eight years, how could that put you out of business". Blank stares from the managers Vinnie and James are precious. However, I wish they would budge an inch to solve my problem. read more

Staples in general has questionable service and products. I ordered a laptop from this Staples to be delivered to my house. I get it delivered and open it only to find a smashed screen and a keyboard face plate that is detached from the actual keyboard. I call Staples to inform them and they offer an exchange AFTER their standard 2 business days and weekend and a delayed delivery bringing the shipping time to five days. ( Should have been offered overnight delivery as compensation for a HIGHLY defective product.) The second laptop I receive has a power button that doesn't light up and is really slow. So I decided to take it back to Staples at this point. I made sure to bring the original sales receipt and confirmation email detailing the exchange that took place. The associate has trouble completing the return after being told the whole story regarding the two defective laptops so he calls the manager. The manager looks at the receipt only and tells me "oh no I can't take this back, it's past 14 days." Besides the fact that the manager failed to look at the other piece of paper (confirmation email) the associate failed to also alert him to this, so I bring it to his attention and he reads the email and immediately begins tapping the register to process the return (hallelujah). Besides the fact that this manager fails to provide adequate customer service by at least apologizing to a paying customer who received a defective product TWICE; he goes on to give me an attitude when I asked when I should expect to see the return only card. He simply shrugged his shoulders at me and to that I asked "what does that mean?" He says right now, which is complete BS -return took 5 days to show up. The most I'll ever purchase from Staples and not from this location are office supplies. read more
